Yes, playing 'dumb' (agreeing with them) shuts them down and avoids conflict. Deep inside they know you know, so it's the perfect come back.
It was their dark sarcasm when I was researching Narcissism

I did that for years. Now i stopped not rocking the boat.
I call them out "I'm not surprised by your comments. You are so miserable and bitter. I'm sad for you and those who depend on you. Good bye"
"Take the comment literally." Make sure you let them know that you KNOW they're being rude. If they think you don't get it, they'll think you're stupid.

Authenticity is a predictable quality for those who can endure it, better than the passive aggressive asertatives.

I just be passive aggressive back. One of my bosses who was like this. One day he walked in being a smart ass, I looked at him and said, I see your wife let you dress yourself this morning... He was scared....😂😂😂
My sister is a covert. She'll take whatever she's unhappy about and throw that in reverse at others. When I once said to her that I didn't have time for something (that she felt morally entitled to force upon me) she freaked out and started screaming that she knows that she doesn't have a job and what not. When I told her that wasn't the point (nobody was ever holding that against her) she kept spiraling until everyone was annoyed and/or upset and then she stormed off...
If you ‘take it’ in a positive way, they will just give another shot by saying, “You would take it that way!” In this way, they are now calling you stupid too.
I guess one could retort back, “Oh yes! I am ALWAYS looking for the positive in everything!” 🙄
Narc parents brother and sisters meant i spent most life being addicted and searched for this in girlfriends and friends.

Thank you Danielle for trying to give advice on how to deal with passive aggressivnes. I couldn't have used this advice though because internally I am too hurt. It's absolutely devastating to laugh over such jabs while you feel so sad inside. And believe me, they will not let off. They will poke you and enjoy it until you snap. I felt like the better strategy with my narc was to ask what exactly did they mean. Did they speak with love and care? Did they actually complimented me? Of course, they will never admit that they purposely want to hurt you and they will fake it - and *this* is were you've got them. Because then they feel exposed as liers and run away. And you feel better because you are not the one who needed to fake something.

I agree. she is. I was thinking the same thing. And I am a woman and I am not jealous of other cute, beautiful woman like other woman can be and most are. Its a horrible thing to be jealous and envious as Gods word warns us about this horrible sin. >> Wrath is cruel and anger a torrent, But who is able to stand before jealousy? - Proverbs 17:3. >>>> For he knew that for envy they had delivered him.- Matthew 27:18 Him being the innocent Savior of the world, Jesus Christ who suffered under the hands of envious religious leaders ( the they in this scripture )of his day. This was when Jesus was falsely arrested and ended up beaten and dying on the cross for the sins of the world. He understands our pain and took our sin, guilt, shame, burdens and sorrows on that cross. Isaiah 53 described it. Blessings !

For my X GF ( covert Malignant narcissist...n Whore ) extremely passive - aggressive... 95% in TEXT ... for Me ( not responding back ) seems to work Best for me... I give her nothing back to continue with... It's as If....I never saw her TEXT ... I Feel GREAT ..giving her no RESPONSE 💪

I get your point. What woman doesn't want where it's at laid on the line? , But let me add this, if you're out with a man or exchanges glances with a man you have yet to meet? Subtlety. A man who is truly interested? He will. not make a big show of it. He will probably not approach you by courting. Hiring a violin to play at your office, that sort of thing. Subtlety. Learn to appreciate it, it really does separate the men from the boys. And the ladies from the problems.. If that's what you want.
I'm not sure that I agree with this strategy. If you pretend like you don't understand their sarcasm, most likely they'll just be high-five'ing themselves in their minds about how clever they are, and how you're too stupid to understand their "wittiness." I've experienced this response several times.
The joke is still on them anyway, and it's our strategy for staying safe. If they find out you see past their fakery, they the grandiose will have a rage fit and throw stuff; and the covert will pickle and preserve their anger for the right moment they decide to punish their target.
I think it can be good but we need God's wisdom on dealing with these people with each interaction that comes our way. This scripture came to my mind. >>> Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him. Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit.> “He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.” - Proverbs 17:27. God's Word is wisdom from above and His ways and Word work !! but the wisdom of man/this world is foolishness with him ! Blessings.
