This island is privately owned. The owner used to throw "rock parties" once a year where people would hang out on the rock, eat, drink and have fun. I'm uncertain how they went to the bathroom. I'm told the owner is a great guy. He lives nearby and may have even seen you. He probably would not have given you a hard time even if he knew.
Me again Wes. A month ago you camped in view of my hospital window. I meant to mention the Thimble Islands to you. Not surprised you found them on your own. Here's the kicker. Over the years, I've spent several weekends on the island where you mention that "a whole family" was staying just across the water from your camp.
@WesWherever Hope you are doing well. Sent you an email regarding how I came to be a guest on the island. The short story is that an old friend of my mother's was able to rent what was the servant's quarters on the island for a couple of weeks each summer.
That was so cool seeing the striations on the rock. If I remember correctly the ice in that part of the country reached almost 1/2 mile above the ground, so the weight of all that ice on the rocks below wore the grooves in the bedrock as the glacier slowly moved. That was a nice camp site.
Every video of you I watch, I wish I could pull up a chair beside you. Thanks for making all these videos while out having a blast. Love the vibes, and wish I could always be as chill as you.
Hi Wes! I'm late in watching this and responding, but finally could 😊 This was so much fun to watch! What a beautiful and peaceful place, and the night sky must have been absolutely amazing to see in person! I am glad you had perfect weather too. Thank you for including the names of the animals and plants you saw. That always makes your videos even more interesting to watch. I look forward to your next video. Stay safe! 🙏 p.s. You are almost at 20K subs!! I am so happy for you! 😀♥️
Hi Suzanne!! So good to hear from you 😊 Glad you enjoyed this one... yes the night sky was brilliant! Hopefully someday I can get a camera good enough to capture it in detail 🎥 20k, so hard to believe!! Still feels like I am at 500, haha. I appreciate you watching, and glad you are still enjoying the adventures! I have been going for 1 vid a week, but am a bit delayed this week - I will have the next one up tomorrow morning though. I always appreciate your support and kind words 💙 -Wes
Your vibes are incredible, your video production is immaculate, and your adventures are exciting. Just discovered your channel today and I’m loving what you do.
I discovered your channel yesterday, and you are doing really good! Short, straight to the point, entertaining, calm, and informative. Hats down to you Wes! (Subbed)
Unreal how you find your locations. Have lived in Rhode Island my entire life and had no idea that these islands existed. Guess you are on Crib Island across from Money Island. Bravo! But then you are special and have no problem camping on a rock LOL Thanks for sharing! You are also so stealth.. in by nightfall gone by sunrise!
It is really such a special group of islands, so thankful I could check them out!! I am in RI right now (Newport)... absolutely LOVING the geography and everything around here! Glad you have been enjoying the vids, appreciate your support 👊
Fun fact: the rock you admired that the island is made of is called Stony Creek Granite. Known for its pinkish hue, that granite is specific to the Stony Creek area in Branford CT, hence its name. A favorite building material of many notable 19th and 20th century architects, Stony Creek Granite has been used in many iconic buildings in NYC and New England including the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty and Grand Central Station.
Yeah not all my videos are so peaceful, but ahhh this was probably my most relaxing trip so far!! Had a really chill time, and glad it was enjoyable for you to watch as well :)
Just found you and this video was very much enjoyed! I have Liked & subscribed. I appreciate your relaxed style and informative captions on the flora and fauna. I might binge-watch!

this is wild, i was just kayaking here last month, probably around the same time! my avatar is right over by the launch even haha. i'm a native northerner, welcome! there are LOTS of amazing islands in and outside of the sound you should stop by and camp at. stick around next time! i can give you lots of fun places to do this at, that aren't actually owned by anybody or are owned by the state.
When you said you were going to New England next i figured youd skip over CT like most people, so glad you stop in to enjoy our little slice of beautiful nature!! Also appreciate being able to see the perspective of being on that island!
Man, how could I skip CT?! If I had more time, I would have explored waaayyyy more here... so many possibilities. Appreciate you watching, glad you enjoyed!!

Great to see fir brother Preston! lol :) I love little islands like those. I live in Nova Scotia, Canada and we have quite a few. Always a lot of fun to camp on.them. :) Earwigs, yuck! We have some big ones here too! Thanks for sharing and looking forward to your next adventure. :) :)
Hi Jacqueline, appreciate you watching again!! I wonder if Nova Scotia had the same glaciers running through it carving out the islands 🤔 So cool to learn about & explore them 🏝️ I would like to go camping throughout Canada at some point... looks beautiful up there!
Another nice trip ! I spotted the ivy as soon as you filmed it……not the first plant to come to mind on a rock . We’ll be with you ,keep us in the loop .I spent a couple years in Rhode Island ,there is A ton of things to see along the coast not to mention inland as well .see you soon !
Yeah I was surprised to see poison ivy on the rock lol... glad I was able to identify it and not touch it at all! For being the smallest state, RI really has so many possibilities 🏕️ If I had more time for the road trip, I would wanna do so much here... thanks again for watching, Mike!!
Just saw the video, great content and hope you enjoyed your stay in CT. I'm the neighboring town from those Islands, so have seen them quite a few times.
Nice little island hop stop ! Glad no one spoiled it some folks around here in CT especially on the coast some think they own the ocean. I live on The coast right next to the mouth of the Pawcatuck river and Watch hill RI is just a paddle across the river. Can’t wait to see where you stop in Rhode Island. Stay safe out there.👍🐆🐆😎
Thanks Cheetah, glad you enjoyed this one! Yeah I was thankful the islanders were pretty friendly. I think I came within a few miles of you on I-95! You live in a very picturesque area, been loving this region so far 👍👍 I will stay safe, thanks again for watching!! 🐆

Thanks Brian, glad you're enjoying the adventures! I am definitely just getting started here, have so much planned... will be a ton of fun!! Appreciate you watching man 👊
I actually just recently moved, on Oct. 12 2023, from southern Erie County PA (bordering Lake Erie) to central coastal OR. I've not noticed any islands off the coast in my area, but I noticed something off the coast north of me. I just don't recall exactly where. It doesn't seem like a place to spend a night though. There is, however, an RV park in Newport.
Appreciate it man! I have been enjoying Cape Cod so far, and plan to head up through Boston. I'm not one to make conversation with everyone I meet, so I'm not taking offense to the massholetry LOL
If ever you're on the Maryland coast on your road trip you should try checking out Assateague Island National Seashore. It's not much of a hidden place since there's literally a huge campground there, but I'm sure there's tons of stealth-campy spots around it if not in the whole Chincoteague Bay area.
That would be so cool! I've heard of the wild horses there, which would be incredible to see in person. I will have to look into more stealthy kind of spots there, thanks for the suggestion!

If you're ever in Sturbridge, Massachusetts there's a tiny little island that used to have a cabin on it on Big Alum Pond. Maybe someday you'll be near and can check it out.👍✌️
So cool, I think I can see it satellite view on maps!! I don't think I'll be that far west Mass in this trip, but I definitely want to check that out on a future trip. Appreciate the tip 🙏
