I have had my BRN-180 for a few months now. I even took it to SIG Sauer Academy, and it performed well there. My particular gun has given me 1.5 MOA level accuracy with standard 223 and M193 loads so far. I am very happy with the BRN-180!
Did you find that the handguard got hot? I have heard that
@@savgbst it’s not so much the handguard, rather it’s the gas block that gets hot. That means on the 16” model, it’ll get hotter towards the front of the handguard. I prefer to hold closer to the rear of the handguard so it’s not a problem for me. It can be mitigated entirely with any combination of a wrap, grip, and gloves.
I've been considering very hard about putting together a BRN 180 as basically a replacement for my ARs, and your video has convinced me to do so
Looking forward for range review, thanks Graham. Happy early Father's day
Great presentation and review. Glad you provided quite a bit of info on this piece of kit. Looks like a worth while item to have. ☯️🎩♠️
Always informative and fair. 👍☕😎
I have the gen 1 and I really like it a lot
Now THAT is an interesting setup! 👍🏽 for the review. I know What's for Dinner is your after-tabletop review, but I'm feelin' the nostalgia for when you used to strip down whatever you were reviewing, whilst cleaning it off from your previous range trip. Have you ever thought of doing What's for Dinner before the tabletop, and then after the tabletop you and Teya could give your impressions? Just a thought.
Helpful and good video; great gun, too.
I have the BRN-180S 300 BLK G2, I own many PWS uppers and I would say it’s right in line with quality and reliability. My only 2 complains are the polymer dust cover and guide rod cap. If you’re designing such a great quality system it deserves light weight aluminum at least. I hope they decide to give us aluminum in place of plastic on the gen 3. I hope that it is also compatible with gen 2. Also brownells should give the option of cold hammer forged barrel, this gun would be 10/10 with that. It’s comparable to Ferrari building a car all your favorite Ferrari parts in the engine but using ford focus cloth seats. It’s a bit lazy.
Great review! Adams Arms is another fantastic piston driven AR platform company, which is often neglected.
We've tried to work with Adams Arms. In our interactions they were full of empty promises so I can't speak to the quality of their products.
@@GBGuns Shit gets sour when a company you've built turns on you and kicks you out of your own business.
Yeah they've had a rough time. It's been year since we've talked to them. I don't have time to waste chasing a company.
I bought the lower for this upper and the upper JUMPED in price, so I never ended getting the upper. Guess I'll be waiting for a lower price or I'll just have a BRN-180 lower in my collection... 😁
I have a couple of BRN180* uppers that share a BRN180M lower. Outstanding weapon system. Curiously, my 300BO variant came with an A2 birdcage not a legacy styled 3-prong.
Cool
What's that lower you had it sitting on at the beginning? Is that some sort of ambi bolt release I see on it?
I just got my .300 BLK upper with the 10-inch barrel and I can't pull the op rod far enough to remove the piston. Super frustrating. I have a ticket open with Brownell's. Hoping to hear from them soon!
"You gonna have some 'splaining to do" bahahah truth.
Boy what a dream/reality it was and is to me to think back when I was a new recruit back in 68 .we were issued brand new upgraded 16's. Whish I had one now.back then I didn't give a flip or two shots about it and it having a fun switch...guess I'll just dream on and think God I made it home in one piece. While so many never saw American soil.amen!
I keep checking to try to get one. But I'm not dealing with the pistol and SBR laws.
2 MOA on mine M193 ..... but only have 100 rounds through it and I am experiencing some short stroking
Is that the charging handle that the gen 2 comes with? Seems kind of like a weak point or that it would interfere with an optic.
I lost my gas retaining pin at some point in time over the weekend while shooting. Didn't realize it until last night when I was cleaning.
Does anyone know if losing that pin will cause my any issues?
anyone have the 7.62x39 upper? I think thats a very interesting variant.
Is the handguard proprietary or can you remove the 8 screws to add any AR-15 handguard?
Standard ar15 handguard not gonna work for this…
No issues with the dust cover and right bolt release/catch?
Not if you slide your finger up under it. It's not ideal, but it's my take on combining a next-generation lower with next-generation upper.
That floppy bolt assist/charge handle...
I don't get why the piston has 3 parts to the rod.
What lower receiver is in the thumbnail. It looks like it has a bolt catch/bolt release on the right side.
It does. It's from ADM
Can you get a heavier recoil spring weight ? If so, we're?
My guess would be Brownell's. Parts are their business!
@@GBGuns Did any of the loads feel to hot for the spring weight that comes with the rifle?
Piston system looks like sig MCX etc
Yes Sig and many others used this Stoner design with some modernizing tweaks. As I understand it even this is a modernized version of the original.
Singapore Version without FORWARD ASSIST , Isn't it a HYDRAMATIC CLONE
I don't think anyone said it was. This was inspired by the AR-18
Great review everyone talking about the M.O.A. but the tactical keyboard warriors can't even hit the backstop at the range 😂🎯
Or have never stopped to think about what level of accuracy is actually needed.
@@GBGuns yes Sir 💯
Pws is long stroke the brn180 is short stroke not the same thing
PWS made this upper
@@GBGuns I kno but u referenced the mk111 which is long stroke that’s their namesake
Their roots are in AKs. That's where the love of pistons came from
@@GBGuns Not really here in 🇺🇸 the love of pistons comes from mr garand but I get ur point many people love pistons some don’t I don’t care unless I’m shootings past 200-300 yds then piston is not my choice
I have a video interviewing PWS, talking about their origins.
