    I love ambi safeties, not so I can shoot left or right. But because I use my thumb to turn the safety off like normal, but when I raise my trigger finger off the trigger I can crook it and turn the safety on.

    Got my first BRN180S Wylde upper about 2 years ago. Was sharing an MI 300BO lower with that upper. Then bought 1st BRN-180M lower. Then got a BRN-180S upper in 300BO and shared that BRN-180M lower between the 2. Then got a second BRN-180M lower. A while later I got a BRN-180 16" Wylde upper and dedicated the 2nd lower to that with an MI M4 Beam folding stock.
    One issue is that Brownells is often out of stock on BRN-180 uppers, lowers and parts. Thought about getting a 7.62x39 upper but from what I'm hearing that caliber as some issues on this platform. Like your OD paint job. Wanted to get an FDE setup but just couldn't synchronize FDE availability with available budget.

    Hi Adam I just subbed. I,am from Mich orig (born Pontiac raised Royal Oak). I LOVE the AR-180 however I wish Brownells made it look a lot more like the original I remember from the 70,s.

      There are a couple of guys online trying to make some more old school handguards for them. Brownells makes a retro folding stock as well. I think some pretty cool stuff for the 180’s will be available soon.

      Oh yeah for sure, if 300 blackout wasn’t so expensive a 300 upper with a can and subs with a folder would be super rad.

    I have two, the 18.5 and a 16 both on the retro lower. I modified an A1 sling swivel onto an A1 pistol grip with an M14/M16 OG sling to get a more OG look on both. the 18.5 has the HK mini BUIS (wish they were fixed) and a Midwest Industries retro folding stock. the 16 has the same stock you have but I did a paracord wrap for the cheek weld and has Midwest Industries fixed BUIS. one of the BRN180 lowers is a "blem" sale item and the fitment isn't great. it's so bad I'll eventually get a new lower and replace it. the other retro lower fits both upper receivers perfectly.
    I have Geissele parts kits in both lowers.
    I do wish a retro handguard and retro iron sights were available for the 18.5 rifle.

      @@thee_adam_jagger Its interesting. I've already seen a bunch of videos on the upper, never seen one on a lower like that. I thought they were just uppers that went on standard AR15 lowers, that lower looks like it was designed for the brn 180.

    I'm dragging my feet on one. The jakl fits a similar role and cost.. the truth is, if this thing had rubber/high density silicone flaps in the bolt handle channel I'd have bought 2 already

      Most of the brn180’s have dust covers. Are used to be worried about the ejection port being open on mine. But I’ve ran the heck out of mine through all sorts of stuff and have never had any issues. If you are interested, Brownells has super good deals right now if you DM me on Instagram, I can hook you up with a link and discount codes to use. My Instagram name is in the video description on all my videos.

      Got a good buddy love the guy to death he runs jakls religiously and yes I do think the jakl would hold up better to a super hardcore mud drowning like you somehow managed to fall into a cartoon level of quick sand with your dust cover open type situation but and we've compared pretty extensively the BRN is more pleasant to shoot nearly two full pounds lighter and isn't so forward heavy ya know the jakl is in a lot of ways an L86 style frame built with way too much steel not serving a purpose around the chamber and gas block are literal blocks of steel and as a result of that the majority of it's weight sits in front of the mag well to the point where it feels like you're shouldering a tavor backwards still fun to shoot like so much fun the BRN at least on my build even with no buffer or spring a timney trigger sig cross grip feels a few ounces heavier on the back end of the mag well but a good light can and a stream light set up with the pressure pad and hand stop really feels like a well balanced gun and the handguard profile being significantly smaller really lets you get a rock solid C clamp on it but I get it people are at different places both preference wise and financially to me 200 bucks for an upper to shave 2 lbs seems totally worth it but I know it won't to everyone

      @@aaronlawson2137 my purpose behind one is simple. It rides in my truck. And given my location, and the conditions I foresee, the flaps are still a good idea.. still probably gonna get one. When the 16" re-stocks. I work with industrial plastics. So, at worst I could buy the sport. And make a sealing surface from a strip of HDPE, and attach it through a hole with the charging handle. Or obviously a silicone curtain of some kind. Also, we've probably all seen what makes the *armalite fuckin die* grime on the trigger, or interrupting the bolt lock up. We can seal that gap and eliminate one for the most part. And as a final note on the JAKL, Matt, the QC guy at PSA has already stated they're building a .308 version. If the steel reinforcement is as stout as you say, we can probably expect to see the JAKL-H soon.

    That finish is absolutely wicked.
    I've been looking for a 180 for a long time now. Finally traded for a used one, arriving tomorrow.
    My current build is my interpretation of a WWSD-A1 and its black and ODG. Great combo. Did you do it yourself? If so, any tips?

    • @thee_adam_jagger
      @thee_adam_jagger  2 роки тому +2

      That’s awesome, I love my 180 upper so hopefully you do too. As for the finish yes I sprayed it myself. It is the od green brownells Alumihyde. Comes right in a spray can and is a extremely durable finish. Best advice I can give to someone doing their own is when you take it apart make sure you wipe every inch of every part you are spraying with a good wax and grease remover. I wipe mine down multiple times to make sure I hit everything. Then nice even light coats making sure you get all the nooks and crannies. Also make sure you spray the top pic rail both ways that way you get the front and back of each picatinny slot.

    Great gun, hate the stock. I like that you used the 180 style lower, most seem to use standard AR lowers for a 180 build. My first rifle was an AR180B. POS but I regret selling it because they sell for a lot on gunbroker. I wonder how many people know it had a flawed design.

    The reason being is when you shoot with the dust cover closed the straight CH won’t go back all the way. I have the 300 BO and really wanted to upgrade the CH. I went with a stippled “nub” from OTDefense. It’s great! Also what paint did you use? Looks awesome great video man!

    • @thee_adam_jagger
      @thee_adam_jagger  2 роки тому +2

      I’ve seen those ones, they look pretty sweet. The finish on it is the od green brownells alumi Hyde II. It’s super easy to use if you just tear it apart, de grease everything real good then spray it and leave it alone for a few days. It’s way more durable than I thought it would be.
