Bonevena was tough fight for anybody, he was so unorthodox and awkward and strong as a bull. Just was too slow for ALi's quickness on defense, ali was phenomenal when he went on offense but he was always a defensive fighter first, before he got someone out of position and ripped those lightning combos.

I doubt he ever was that fighter again. But 90% of the 1967 Ali was still one Helluva fighter. He relied more on fighting smart after he lost to Frazier. The 1967 version relied on smarts AND physical abilities. THATS the difference between this version of Ali, and the peak, 1967 version, in my opinion...

Ali had that two fight stretch of Bonavena/Frazier where he wore the sharp red trunks. I believe he wore blue once against Cooper. Beyond that, it was always white.
I haven't seen this in years. Forgot how rusty Ali looked in this fight. Ali needed more warm up fights as Frazier made him look bad in their first fight.
