No really.. Just in the last round and struggling a lot, was very hard for Ali.. One of his most difficult fights ever, it proves that Ali wasn't so good as many people think he was, or that Bonavena actually was far better than people think.

This fight can't be used as any proof of how good Ali was.
And despite that, Ali still stopped Bonavena which nobody else managed to do.
@@fdr3170 Bonavena was a very good fighter. Joe Frazier won only by decision a few years before this when he faced Bonavena. He had 9 losses in his professional career, only 1 by KO, which was by Ali.

He did not get whooped. Ali actually cheated because he was afraid he'd lose it. Ali touched the ground first, if only briefly so. Then when Bonavena goes down, Ali does not go to the neutral corner and the referee, as it always happens in the States, pretends he doesn't see it and allows Ali to come back at Bonevana pretty much immediately after the count. It was some BS and a shame, because Bonavena was a great fighter (just ask Frazier) and Ali really didn't need to do that. Fanboys gonna do what they do, but this fight was epic until the referee stained it with his neglect.
