I actually kind of like Hitler with sunglasses. It sort of emphasizes just how silly the idea of Hitler being a villain is. Which also supports the plot of the game, because Hitler returning to a Mayan space ship due to paranoid rumors is depicted as being silly.
Also, obscuring his eyes like Kandori in EP. EP Kandori has a black void for eyes cause he's revived by rumors, the Fuhrer may have that now under the shades. It's honestly cooler that way when you realize most of the lategame you're fighting literal rumors, not demons summoned by them, not people affected by them, raw rumors tsking form because the world is so fucked up
Calling the older persona games dated and any game that is the easy way out. No piece of art just poofed into existence without some thought behind it. All mechanics of the older games were designed with the rest of the game in mind. Does it always make for the most pleasant experience that respects your time? No, but I like rpgs where the main appeal of the game is the battle system and finding different ways to fight enemies with characters. More and more games now have convenience in mind that it hampers a game having a learning curve or challenge. Quality of life designs while intuitive start to feel like they are shortchanging the game. Persona 5 gives you confidants that unlock perks the higher your bond with them, but to me they just felt like upgrades that reduced challenge in gameplay rather than making me more powerful to meet the next challenge. Also if your going to make me automatically skip battles against weak enemies why make me run into them in the first place? If I want to avoid fighting weak foes I will use an Estoma or a repel. Skipping battles just makes me feel like the game doesn't want me to play in the first place. I'm conflicted on this, but what's the end goal of the whole idea that a game has to be modern in design to be good? At this rate, it feels like the next decade games will just play themselves and any input by the player will feel "dated." I get that learning an older system is not everyone's cup of tea, but atleast acknowledge it's merits. You don't have to like it to do that.
i agree with you. i generally love more older games than the new one. i love persona 1 and persona 2 duology and i think that people should try playing their original version on ps1. i hate that the psp remake of persona 1 changed all the soundtracks and menu system. i find the original version more enjoyable with its unique art design and combact system witch isn't bad although the encounter rate is very high and became frustrating
I know this video came out just a month ago, but I've subbed, just to make sure I don't miss the next part. I can't wait. I personally feel that you explain these very well. So I appreciate the hard work you do!
I wish Atlus would make an Hd rerelease of the Psp version with the Japanese exclusive content but I know that’s unlikely which stinks as Persona 2 is my favorite game in the series
Now honestly? I love Personas 1+2 the duology more than 3-5+Tokyo Mirage Session (lets face it: its more Persona x FE) Though I would love to see Persona 1 get something next year, the 25 anniversary of P1 is coming up. I would love to see a remake or a spin off at the very least albeit if its a metroidvania based on 1 or 2, Q3 with the casts of 1+2, anything. Just as long as Atlus give us something for Persona 1+2
My biggest disappointment with the PSP version is the difficulty nerf. Only the final boss and Alice were challenging (I'm playing on "hard" difficulty btw) Still prefer the PSP version any day, mostly cause I don't have to listen to those japanese animu voices and that bland 90's menu design... just to prehistoric for me, man
I played the original and I was suprised how at how many complained at how mindnumbingly easy it is. Seeing both some Let's videos and this video answered my question. The changes made regarding the gameplay that makes it even more tedious than original and the fact that the game is made even easier (PSP Hard isn't comparable to the original PS1 difficulty) may have soured the views of many newcomers regarding Persona 2.
Personally I think all of the nice little visual and audio updates make the PSP version better, even if it is at the cost of a slightly more clunky menu. Also hitler with sunglasses is cool and my mind cant be changed.
It is a real shame that IS PSP is so easy, even without DEFENCE SPAMMING. Ironically, it made the game less memorable for me since very few encounters could not simply be steamrolled. It could seriously use a hardtype-style difficulty mod to greatly increase its difficulty. EP PSX was likewise on the easier side, but it was still difficult enough to at least be engaging.
highly recommend checking out the PSP port of EP if you liked it. not only are the difficulties not fucked, but they added a wicked hard mode. second boss in the game could one shot one of my party members easily, was a kick in the ass for sure
@@evilfreak7 I'm playing EP. I already played it on PSX so I only need the game script for the Tatsuya extra scenario. I love the hard mode, its much more challenging to a veteran player like me. Its the first time ever the game is putting up a fight.
@@ShadowBaofu yeah, exactly. it's a lot of fun when you're used to the P2 games being as easy as they are, even excluding the PSP rebalance. remember to stick to the nanjo route if you want to play all the tatsuya stories, elly doesn't get one of the items you need for some reason.
Great video! I've tried playing Persona 2 many times, but I could never really get into it. Outdated as it is, I loved the first game, but I think most of the additions in Persona 2 (aside from the much better presentation) only made the game more complicated, especially negotiations with demons (I was never ever good at that in the 1st game and it got much harder in the 2nd), cards and rumors.
Gonna be honest, I like the simple aesthetic of the menus in the original Playstation version of Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment more than what they did with the PSP versions. Also it seems like the special effects in battle on the PSP version look way worse and less impactful than the original version, like the original version the machine gun muzzle flash on Eikichi's weapon looks almost nonexistent in the PSP version if I'm not mistaken.
Your interpretation of Kaneko's cameo as the demon painter was brilliant script writing, the video as a whole was great but that segment was my favorite

We need more of these videos
_"Let's go through all of them"_ Is a strangely intimidating phrase to hear.
I know this video came out just a month ago, but I've subbed, just to make sure I don't miss the next part. I can't wait. I personally feel that you explain these very well. So I appreciate the hard work you do!
Yes bro I almost forgot about this series but I’m super glad it’s back
Thats a lot of info, great work
I wish Atlus would make an Hd rerelease of the Psp version with the Japanese exclusive content but I know that’s unlikely which stinks as Persona 2 is my favorite game in the series
Based trantran
Now honestly? I love Personas 1+2 the duology more than 3-5+Tokyo Mirage Session (lets face it: its more Persona x FE) Though I would love to see Persona 1 get something next year, the 25 anniversary of P1 is coming up. I would love to see a remake or a spin off at the very least albeit if its a metroidvania based on 1 or 2, Q3 with the casts of 1+2, anything. Just as long as Atlus give us something for Persona 1+2
Yes, part 2 is here!
These are great, I can't wait for the next entry.
Loved the video, just thought you were being so nitpicky about the changes like holy smoly
I've been listening to your persona series in loop while playing persona 5 and persona 5 royal jp version.
My biggest disappointment with the PSP version is the difficulty nerf. Only the final boss and Alice were challenging (I'm playing on "hard" difficulty btw)
Still prefer the PSP version any day, mostly cause I don't have to listen to those japanese animu voices and that bland 90's menu design... just to prehistoric for me, man
The Japanese voices are superior though.
.. i just binged all those videos wtf....
.........
...............
Time to wait for more
There will never be games like persona 2 innocent sin and eternal punishment.
This was definitely worth waiting half a year for.
Man, I love this channel!!
what a legend
@D. it's an easy game to play even without japanese knowledge, lol. it's not like it's a traditional megaten game with more complex negotiation.
This one felt so fast wow O:
I could listen to you forever
eu estou 100% de PAUDURASSO
valeu pelo vídeo cara
ok...... ta bom né............
I can't wait for you to get to P3 and P3Fes because that was my first Persona game! Great job on your videos so far!
Brilliant episode well worth the wait!
