Plus, there’s also the fact that practically most of my favorite characters of each Arcana are in these Games, with Lisa being my all time favorite Lovers Arcana character by a long shot(the only character who has her Lovers arcana actually fully represent her life, even more so than Yukari, and it not defining her personality like Ann and Rise which, while it is interesting on paper, is not how Tarot cards work, where they represent the paths of our lives and the future we face, they aren’t a fancy personality reader, since her actual personality is more akin to Chie, especially with her interactions with Eikichi being similar to Chie’s interactions with Yosuke, without any of the double standards/cliche trope bs that annoyed me in Persona 4). I pretty much have the same opinions as Nyarly on favorite persona games, except 3 is my second favorite and 2 is my absolute favorite.
And now, we wait for Nyarly to suffer by doing this in EP. Note: You severely underestimated mutations, they are still unreliable, but can be broken if you know you'll use the same Personas for a long period of time.
@@derekmartin5340 The thing with the late game bosses in genearl is, Tatsuya's starting Persona is Apollo in EP, so that would lower the dificulty a great deal, especially since Sugawara is weak to fire.
The main fact that the protagonists has a motorcycle 🏍 automatically makes him the best/coolest main protagonists of the Persona franchise. Also the fact that he’s the only main protagonists that goes from high school to young adult.
This video got me to start innocent sin and I'm at smile hirasaka. I haven't been fusing demons because I hate the way this game handles negotiation. I mean how the hell am I supposed to know which demons wanna hear my motorcycle impression? I've only been using base personas but I think i'm gonna use the prime and ultimate personas
Here's an interesting idea for a challenge: Digital Devil Saga human form only? I doubt it's possible, considering your attack is really limited by ammo and you can't use any spell, buffs or debuffs, but you do have items, so I'm curious how far you can get in the game with this idea
I did part of the run using grenades and the OP Cielo gun. Cielo can attack multiple times doing high damage, Arguilla never fails a bullet and crit a lot and the protagonist because... He uses also a gun, I guess.
I would like to thank you for introducing me to the persona series, I started playing because of these videos and now the Persona series are some of my favorite
29:17 the cutscen with the robots The music is so good i love it. I remember seeing the op and seeing the robots being like " what is happening" and now it's like "sh!t is happening."
I love the older Persona/SMT's character artstyle. Really wish they didn't go for the standard anime look in the later games... Also this story is batshit insane lmao.
I love this kind of videos. And not really because of the challenge itself, but because you show how knowledgeable you are about these games. Hearing your strategies and how you organize the playthrough is a pure joy. Keep up the great work!
To answer it quickly, yes, and it's surprisingly easy. Let's see if Nyarly had difficulty or not (I finished the game like that the 1st time, because I didn't understand the card system)
Chikarin is hella cute. Definitely best waifu. The voice acting for this game is honestly a cut above what was available at the time. The Spirit Rib is really nice
just finished devil survivor today, and went to download innocent sin, this video arrived, thankfully I didn't start playing, I was going to do a lot of dumb shit
Persona 2 innocent sin from psp was my first megaten game, so it warms my heart to see it having some recognition. Thank you nyarly, nice video as usual.
I want to thank you on a personal level you are one of my biggest inspiration to play as many of the SMT games as possible. I went out of my way to buy physical copies of these games and I wanted to thank you for making me want to play such an amazing game series you really are amazing. These challenges are so difficult and am impressed that you spend the time to do these challenges. So thank you for spending the time to make such amazing content you are my favorite SMT and JRPG content creator
That was stated in the video. But since if you don't help Ekichi he gets a new persona, according to the rules of the challenge, then this fight is mandatory.
I haven't played the psp version of Innocent Sin (just emulated the ps1 version) so I don't know if it's the same, but as challenging as the gameplay was I really appreciated the fact that if Tatsuya dies, it's not game over. It literally shocked me when I realized the other games didn't work like that.
I love this Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment. I really hope Persona 6 gets rid of the wildcard. Its way too chosen one in my opinion. Innocent sin also is quite possibly the only game I've played where they don't forget they have healing powers when someone gets gravely injured.
I did a playthrough where I fought only mandatory battles and optional minibosses, while dumping all of Tatsuya's level up stats into Luck. The only real difference was that Ixquik & Belphagor were a bit more of a DPS race, King Leo would've been slightly scary had he not been weak to water, the solo Longinus 13 fight was impossible (Tatsuya with ~10 Endurance couldn't heal and fight at the same time), and the secret Alice fight was tough (until you run Tetraja or use an End Breaker fusion spell). The final boss still couldn't do more than double digit damage, and his Havok instakill attack was missing literally every time (Tetraja might've had something to do with that, but its description makes it sound like it only works on light/dark). Maybe it would've been even more challenging if I'd stuck the _Starter Personas Only_ stipulation on top of it, but it seems the real problem is that Atlus borked the damage formula for the PSP version. The Persona series uses a level-scaling system where damage is greatly influenced by the difference in level. It's why the Basalt enemies in P4 (who have 99 Endurance) take 0-2 damage when you're the same level as them, but they go down in one hit once you get 10 levels ahead of them. For whatever reason, Atlus skewed the damage formula in the PSP version of P2IS so that enemies have no chance of harming you, outside of the most extreme difference in stats and level.
"this is too unreliable to count on though" me, who has a play time of 55 hours in innocent sin because he always wanted to max rank and mutate his personas before continuing the story: oh
This challenge reminds me of my first play through where I lost the first opportunity of unlocking most of the prime personas and I just blazed through the game spamming Flame Cut EX and getting a bunch of stat up mutations.
wow great job finishing your challenge! I played persona 3 and currently playing 4 from steam and boy persona 2 has a crazy apocalyptic story than I expected. well done
Such an interesting video! I hope they re-release this game and release the other one too. This was a great challenge, also it looked like Eikichi had the finishing lines for every major battle
If/When you do this for Eternal Punishment I'd strongly reccomend learning the multi-hit fusion spell you get when the 5th party member joins ASAP For Nate it's Crag Fang when his persona reaches rank 8 Ulala(Magnus)+Katsuya(Maha Agi)+Nate(Maha Magnus) For Ellen it's Sonic Wave the moment you get her Baofu(Maha Garu)+Maya(Aqua)+Maha Garu(Ellen) When Nike reaches rank 8 a stronger version unlocks with Maha Garula. The same happens with Tatsuya(L'Oiseau de Feu/Meltdown) Also for anyone attempting this challenge in Innocent Sin, Maya actually learns several fusion spells: Death's Roullete(Hama+Mudo)would not reccomend this as it can randomly kill your party members Intoxicating Scratch(Dorminer+Scratch) Poor physical damage, a little situational if you already weakened an enemy Light Smasher(Hama+Straight Slash) Your best bet, be mindful of demon affinities as this will always kill enemies that are weak to all magic or just light spells. If not the physical damage from straight slash might also be enough
man I'm really disappointed hearing the stuff that went down with you nyarly, I hope you better yourself and never hurt someone like how you did to your ex again. we love you and want the best for you, please better yourself
@@noblegalifreyan4551 Wait, what? I didn't hear anything about this. Christ, why does every-other content creator end up being scummy in some way? This sucks.
1:04:41 I find the idea behind Despairing Dream really interesting for an SMT boss like this; he may hit a bunch of times for low amounts, but it forces all of his moves to do SP damage and not HP damage. It's like the boss knows this is a grind game of a fight, and wants to make you run out of resources before you can win.
PSP version is somewhat easier than the fan translation of the PSone version. For example, a single Longinus knight was thought by the game as a different group than the rest, so spells like Maragidyne (or Maha-Agidhain as it's named in that) connect with only one knight when cast, not all of them. (They also spam their lightning attacks more than in the PSP version etc.)
All these years later, i still loved how they managed to get the Choojin Sentai Jetman masks for that flashback part of the game. :) (renaming for the laughs when localized, but i recall it was exact same names for the Jetman members for their childhood names they used for that bit too?)

Ill be honest
Revamping the battle system.would take away a lot of irs charm
And now, we wait for Nyarly to suffer by doing this in EP.

Is it even possible for him to beat EP? Sugawara would be pretty bullshit
@@derekmartin5340 The thing with the late game bosses in genearl is, Tatsuya's starting Persona is Apollo in EP, so that would lower the dificulty a great deal, especially since Sugawara is weak to fire.

Here's an interesting idea for a challenge: Digital Devil Saga human form only? I doubt it's possible, considering your attack is really limited by ammo and you can't use any spell, buffs or debuffs, but you do have items, so I'm curious how far you can get in the game with this idea

29:17 the cutscen with the robots
The music is so good i love it. I remember seeing the op and seeing the robots being like " what is happening" and now it's like "sh!t is happening."
Ayyy Nyarly getting those sponsors now! Always love it when youtubers start getting ads.
"before we go, Philemon asks if theres anything else we want to say, so i hit him"
i laughed too hard at that line, the delivery is gold
I love the older Persona/SMT's character artstyle.
Really wish they didn't go for the standard anime look in the later games...
Also this story is batshit insane lmao.
The artist for the older games left Atlus which is why the artstyle changed
“So what’s your favorite movie?”
“It’s complicated.”
Ooh, Complicated! I love that movie.
Take a shot when eikichi says “Let’s go everybody” on his fusion spells.
@Shadow Gravity Better late than never :D
33:31 ...Huh. Here I was thinking the SMT4 Smirk symbol came from that game, but nope; there it is in Persona 2 of all games.
I didn’t even realize this until you pointed it out
The story of Innocent Sin is basically an Indian Jones movie.
@Pedro Albino sounds like a lot of Mayan folklore/ mythology. Honestly an underrated ancient culture

just finished devil survivor today, and went to download innocent sin, this video arrived, thankfully I didn't start playing, I was going to do a lot of dumb shit
What emulator and what site did you get it from I wanna play 1 and 2 on psp
Persona 2 innocent sin from psp was my first megaten game, so it warms my heart to see it having some recognition.
Thank you nyarly, nice video as usual.
Lucky, you got to experience p2 duology in the riggt order.
I played EP first so I got confused a lot
Looking forward to seeing how you'll handle doing this in the literal cbt that is Eternal Punishment. Cant imagine it being possible in that
I want to thank you on a personal level you are one of my biggest inspiration to play as many of the SMT games as possible. I went out of my way to buy physical copies of these games and I wanted to thank you for making me want to play such an amazing game series you really are amazing. Couldn't the characters just spread a rumour that they are max level and stuff like that
Oml
but then the game will be tremendously easy
that would be great... But broken
I mean, when you try to spread crazy good rumors they don't work because people don't believe them, so maybe it's something like that as well
Yeah, that's the reason for rumors, it has to be something believable to have a lasting effect on the world
The most important contribution to p2 made to the series is the introduction of jojo like designs in the main cast personas
Personas are just stands with more steps
Now I kinda want a JoJo game made by Atlus
This games story is wild. Fun run to watch! Good stuff :)
Involving the Leader boss fight: You only fight him if you opt to help Eikichi. You don't if you leave him alone.
That was stated in the video. But since if you don't help Ekichi he gets a new persona, according to the rules of the challenge, then this fight is mandatory.
Yeah, but he ended up saying either way it ends up in a fight. A little contradictory..
But yeah, I know.
I haven't played the psp version of Innocent Sin (just emulated the ps1 version) so I don't know if it's the same, but as challenging as the gameplay was I really appreciated the fact that if Tatsuya dies, it's not game over. It literally shocked me when I realized the other games didn't work like that.
Philemon deserved that suckerpunch at the end. 100%.
every battle ending can be summarized by one sentence: "Let's go, everybody!"
Persona 2 is so easy and the starters are so powerful I'd be surprised if this was a fail.
I love this Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment. I really hope Persona 6 gets rid of the wildcard. Its way too chosen one in my opinion. Innocent sin also is quite possibly the only game I've played where they don't forget they have healing powers when someone gets gravely injured.
18:57 I love how the missing party members get xp even though they didn't actually participate in the battle.
"this is too unreliable to count on though" me, who has a play time of 55 hours in innocent sin because he always wanted to max rank and mutate his personas before continuing the story:
oh
This challenge reminds me of my first play through where I lost the first opportunity of unlocking most of the prime personas and I just blazed through the game spamming Flame Cut EX and getting a bunch of stat up mutations.

This was a great challenge, also it looked like Eikichi had the finishing lines for every major battle
If/When you do this for Eternal Punishment I'd strongly reccomend learning the multi-hit fusion spell you get when the 5th party member joins ASAP
For Nate it's Crag Fang when his persona reaches rank 8
Ulala(Magnus)+Katsuya(Maha Agi)+Nate(Maha Magnus)
For Ellen it's Sonic Wave the moment you get her
Baofu(Maha Garu)+Maya(Aqua)+Maha Garu(Ellen)
When Nike reaches rank 8 a stronger version unlocks with Maha Garula. The same happens with Tatsuya(L'Oiseau de Feu/Meltdown)
Also for anyone attempting this challenge in Innocent Sin, Maya actually learns several fusion spells:
Death's Roullete(Hama+Mudo)would not reccomend this as it can randomly kill your party members
Intoxicating Scratch(Dorminer+Scratch) Poor physical damage, a little situational if you already weakened an enemy
Light Smasher(Hama+Straight Slash)
Your best bet, be mindful of demon affinities as this will always kill enemies that are weak to all magic or just light spells. If not the physical damage from straight slash might also be enough
man I'm really disappointed hearing the stuff that went down with you nyarly, I hope you better yourself and never hurt someone like how you did to your ex again. we love you and want the best for you, please better yourself

This is how I played the whole game normally 💀
Same, I was stupid so I didn't know to make contracts so I just used the default.
I think I did the same as a kid cuz I got confused with the tarot cards cuz I am retarded
Same, I was 20 hours in and never had a problem in a fight with the initial personas
