Company has been around since 1914!!! That says a lot.. 2020 and I just bought one! Not driving the SUV a lot during the Pandemic.. Plus not having to asking a stranger for jump during the Pandemic is worth it.. TOTAL WIN!
My Genius Boost has saved me so many times! I pretty much know nothing about cars except how to put gas in and I had never jump-started a vehicle in my life (either my husband, tow truck drivers, or good Samaritans did it for me), but I was able to jump my car easily the first time I ever used my Genius Boost. It’s saved me so much money and time spent waiting for tow trucks. The last time I called a tow truck for help, I had to wait three hours and it cost me $60 bucks for the 20 seconds it took the tow truck driver to connect his battery jump-starter pack to my car. It took him longer to process my payment than it took to jump my car! But now I have my own jump-starter that I can connect just as fast! It’s never taken me more than 60 seconds to go from dead battery to running engine. I couldn’t live without it.
This a great compact unit. Safe to use for sure. Only drawback (minor) is the jumper cable heads are a little bulky and can be hard at times to connect to the battery posts. Great advantage is you can jump your own dead battery but also when you help others, you don't have to use your car battery (risk of damage) and no need to move either vehicle. The little guy has got me up and going a few times and I carry it with me everywhere that I go. I've used it more to help out strangers and it's worked every single time. Only used it once on an V8 and that gave me the most trouble but V6 and below - spot on!
I love this starter so much I carry one in all 3 of my vehicles and have purchased these for both of my sons! Super easy to use....in fact, I need to use it today to start my G-wagon....my bad but I left it for way too long without starting it and charging the battery naturally :(. However, this will only take a matter of seconds and whala, it'll start the "TANK" (what I call my G-wagon) like the badass that it is.
You mentioned the 'Emergency Boost' @2:00 'if the person needs to use all of the power'. That is incorrect and should only be used if the battery is completely dead and is not being recognized by the GB40. Holding in that override button will disable the safety features of the GB40 and get it to jump the battery even if the battery is too low. Pressing that button and disabling the safety features does not result in more cranking power. It remains the same.
Just used the exact same booster on my mates battery which was completely flat and it started it without any problems at all. I was very surprised coz it’s so small. I’ll be buying one soon
will the white indicator light come on if you attach to a car battery even if it doesnt need to be boosted? the reason im asking is bc we recently had -40 degree weather and it killed my car, i purchased this but never seen after the weather warmed up if my car would start; so i just automatically boosted it without checking first. So I am curious about that if you would know?
Next time just try start your car. A failed start isn't going to do any damage. Also no, I believe the leds will blink red to green sequentially, whether you need a boost or not.
I've been looking at a lot of YT video's about Jump Starter Car Batters and all I've found is "TOP 5" with just promo video's.. like most people in this current 2020 pandemic, we've all been self isolating, using the cars for minimal journeys and car battery get low on charge... and I'm glad to see your vid.
Just purchased one of these, will try on my e60 tomorrow. In my case it’ll attach to the terminals under the bonnet and not to the battery. Fingers crossed it’ll work 👍
I haven't used it in - 5 Fahrenheit. I've used it maybe - 5 to - 10 celcius, (around 20F) with zero problems. - 5F is right at the limit of its operating range, and usually they would give a buffer, so I would wager it will start a car up at -5f. If you're talking celcius than absolutely it will.
My car battery somehow died yesterday and had to find someone to jump start my car. I decided to buy this Noco Gb40, haven't used it before, but will have it ready to use if my car battery ever doesn't start.
There's a 12v battery on Teslas, but that's for electrical components, radio and lights etc. The main battery is needed for driving and can't be boosted by something like this.
I just got mine from AMAZON today! It's now fully charged so I am about to attempt to start my 3-weeks completely dead 2012 Lexus which is 6.0 Cylinder. Wish me luck. I'll post the results!
reading 0.63V output (no load, just a volt meter) and was expecting 12v. Charge LED is solid green - is the unit shot or does it need to be under load?
The exclamation point on mine is solid red when I tried turning it on out of the box. Its not connected to anything yet the light is still solid red. Is it not charged enough for something?
So, apparently newer Subarus have battery problems at around 12,000 miles. My 2020 Outback at 12,300 miles has died 3 times in a week had to jump each time. Subaru put in a new battery but that just a bandaid...problem of battery drainage not fixed. Waiting for my NOCO to show up, I don’t trust the battery anymore and I don’t want wife stranded somewhere.
Mine has been in the trunk for about a year. Used it today to help a friend and it worked fine. I don't know how drained the battery was in his car but I don't think it was totally dead.
I am glad that the remote crank worked for you, but I can't get anything on the unit I have and it is new and the multi-meter read 2.4 volts on the battery, but nothing when the vehicle was attempted to be cranked. I am going to check the vehicle again tomorrow before giving up and buying another battery.
