  • Brands: NOCO, GooLoo, HOMPOW, VTOMAN, Povasee, BRPOM, AlphaBot, JF.EGWO, Buture, Veama, AUTOGEN, KeenPower, and Jumper Cables. Jump Starters compared for total cranking amps, ability to start a V-6, Big Block V-8, and diesel engine. Jump starters also compared for battery capacity as a battery bank for charging cell phones, etc. All the jump starters are compared with jumper cables and a super capacitor jump starter. The jump starters with tire inflators are compared for performance inflating a completely flat car tire.
    I bought all of the jump starters to ensure an unbiased review. So, thank you for supporting the channel.

    I remember when a jump box was the size of a suitcase, weighed as much as a blind date, worked twice when it was tested but not needed, and left you stranded when it was needed.. This is (perhaps) the most important item you test and watching the improvements made year after year is very interesting. A combination of actual data comparing spec's to mfg. claims and real world testing is why 3 MILLION of us value the info we get from this channel.. A couple weeks ago, you asked our opinion about the direction you should go... I still remain solid that straight ahead is the direction you should go.. these re-visit's shows how fast technology progresses.. The super cap. unit in today's test is a perfect example of that.. Maybe next year there will be 2 or 3 such units and the price will come down.. THAT IS WHY WE KEEP WATCHING!!!!

      I too remember when a jumpstarter weighed 40-50lbs (because they essentially had a small car battery inside their delicate plastic case back then) and almost NEVER worked when you needed them to work even on full charge. I absolutely love the Li-ion, LI-po, and other lithium chemistry batteries nowadays vs the lead acid and NiCad versions of just a couple decades ago.

    • @twistedhillbilly6157
      @twistedhillbilly6157 7 місяців тому +2

      @@teamja1088 I had 3 or 4 of the old style jobbys.. I think I tried to get a stranded started started maybe a half dozen times and NEVER was successful with them. The best one was used to top off a basketball with a slow leak every couple days but that is all I got from any of them.. SO, I disassembled them to harvest whatever pieces I could salvage.. They all had a 7 or 8 Ah gel-cell'.. Gel-cell's aren't typically known as "high drain" and the charging circuits were minimal. NOW, I have one that is just slightly bigger than a deck of cards and is rated for a 6 cyl. engine. It has never failed me and has even started a couple V8's.

      I'm not sure they're actually allowed to lie, it's just no one bothers catching them, and the consequences are minimal. Can't expect Amazon or Walmart to check the quality of the products they sell, right? I mean, do you know how difficult, and expensive it is to check a product's claims? You'd probably need a whole lab, just for battery testing! Perhaps even a team of engineers, with a dedicated support staff! It's not like any guy on a farm could perform an accurate, repeatedly test to accurately measure manufacturer claims...

    Finally was able to use my Vector 1200 portable hand held jump starter on a Honda Ridgeline. Completely dead battery and the Vector did the job with no problem. Hooked it up the gauges went up and the Vector saved the day. You may have jumper cables in your vehicle but they are no good unless you have another vehicle around. I will always have a hand held portable jump starter in my vehicles. Makes a great gift. Easy to use. All family members can learn in just a few minutes.

    A few reasons I like the jump start battery over the cables (which I also carry): 1. You can self-rescue. No wandering around, asking for a stranger to help. 2. You can help others and you don't have to position your car in weird spots. 3. When you do help someone, you don't have to connect your car to someone else's janky mess. If they have something wrong with their electrical system, you don't want to mess up your ride. 4. They're great for emergency charging of cell phones. If you get stranded somewhere, most of those chargers will keep your phone topped up for days.

These things look so unlikely to achieve what they set out to do, but they really can cut the mustard (if you note Todds recommendations that is). Great job on the 2023 ones, they nearly all accomplished your tasks - the early ones not so much. Cheers Mr Farm!

    I bought a Gooloo based on your recommendation a year or so ago and I've only needed it once but it really performed beautifully. I have also helped a few other people, including someone with a big block V8 that wouldn't start in -20 degree weather. He said that the Gooloo cranked the engine faster and with more authority than his battery ever did even when new.
    My friend bought one based on your video, too. In some extremely cold temps last year he helped 5 people jump their cars in one day without recharging the pack!

      The V6 Camaro I have is a strange bird, its starter current draw typically peaks at about 600A, highest I've seen, and the OEM battery required for it is usually large, maybe because they anticipate that.
      Rear mount battery may not help with the starting abilities either, but that's the car that's made the most use of the jump packs. It seems to just depend on where the engine stops whether it's a hard start or not, because most of the time it's fine, and just occasionally it doesn't crank. The battery seems to test okay, and does fine 90% if the time, though it could maybe use a refresh. With the backup of the jump pack, I can hold off and see when it becomes more consistent.
