I've had mine for about 6 months now. Used it twice not for myself but the people I was helping thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. where it really shines is in a crowded parking lot where someone left their lights on, the battery is dead, and they are blocked in by other parked cars and standard jumper cables is not an option. I love this guy. I own it because I stopped for gas and when I tried to start my truck, Nothing, my battery was dead, but someone helped me out with a noco GB40. If you never have to use it for yourself, it sure feels good to help others, especially when it's a stranded mom with little ones. I highly recommend the noco GB40 for light trucks and cars. It works great

I got one 3 years ago. Still working great. As a matter of fact, my car battery finally died today after 7 years of use and boost it with 1 try and got my car started. I've used this to boost my car 3 times and another 5 times for friends, family, and co-worker. After 7 years, I've decided to change my car battery today.

I bought my NOCO GB40 about 6 months ago. Charged it up and put it away in garage. Had to use it yesterday when car battery died. It was still fully charged. At first, car didn’t start, even with Override. Then I realized the jump lead cable weren’t inserted far enough into charger. Started right up.

I can positively endorse this battery pack 100%. I work at Disneyland resort and we use this same battery pack on thousands of cars each year and they start every car we hook them up too, except electric cars. For electric cars, you need AAA to help you out there. They are good for about 20 charges but you can always check the life of the battery pack. It's a great little lifesaver if you're on the run because it takes no time at all too hook it up and start your car in under a min...Friendly user easy... They also stay charged for a while, I bought one for all four of my daughters and wife and they have all used it with consistent success.

I use mine for charging devices while on the trail. I liked it so much I bought a second one. I have used it countless time with mowers and and phone charging. It’s a must have. Phone, Zoleo and piece of mind having seamless two way communication everywhere I go with a guarantee to have enough power.
I also used the strobe light at a bad car accident on a east coast Canada highway. I used the strobe to alert traffic until the police showed up. Then I bailed…. No sense being in danger longer than you have too. The cops were impressed with the unit and the light.
I love mine like I said I own two.

If people really so concerned about not having enough charged battery, then EITHER forcing themselves to remember (free) OR buy another ANKER type battery for backup (not free). There are choices! It is NOT a deal breaker drawback!

Get rid of it and get a new one. They can be very dangerous when damaged. I have over 25 years experience with RC cars that run on lipo's and have seen them catch fire and explode. Keep in mind when they are damaged they will puff, but with the hard shell cover it would be hard to see what's going on inside. Its not worth the chance. As fare as repairing it, once they are damaged they are not repairable.

2 ways to think of this situation. 1) Remember to charge AND have another external battery such as ANKER available to charge this NOCO battery. Problem solved for forgetting = always have 1 more battery ANKER ($29.99 for about 10K maH = enough for it) 2) u dont always need to jump start a car that's too far from home. Just go home to charge it and bring it to the car to jump start!

@@deepb249 He disconnected the battery from his Truck to prove that the GB 40 can start a vehicle without a battery. If you have a very dead battery the GB 40 will not detect that it is hooked up to a battery. So that’s when you use the override switch which is the red button you need to hold that down until the LEDs start chasing back-and-forth. This now sends a direct current to your battery and you should wait at least 30 seconds or longer for your battery to absorb this current. And now you should be able to start your car. Hope this explanation helps. For more detailed instructions on how to use the GB 40 NOCO has a UA-cam Channel with how to use their products check it out very informative.

And yeah, charge it off your PC if you feel like it.

I thought I was missing a charging mode button or if I needed to turn the power on to charge? I worked my way down the line...switched out the USB plug base to my white Apple plug...still no joy. Next, it had to be the 3 plug power strip...but it was already powering my computer and a fan, so after trying one of the other plugs it made positive contact and the charging lights came on. Went back to the original 3rd plug [wiggled it around a bit] and it continued to charge. Can we start a car with no battery in it, or isn't that recommended to do?

  • @almas7123

Noco GB40 Didn’t work for me. Bought after my 2015 cx5 battery was completely dead. Didn’t work after multiple attempts. After wrecker arrived he charged it with his tow truck and noticed car didn’t start after two attempts. He suggested we give it about 5 mins and then it did start.
Few notes. My car was driven about two times in the last 3 months. I last moved it about a week prior to learning car was dead. In short, will try and return.
I also noticed it took too long to initially charge this unit. About 12 hours and indicators didn’t function as should I had to repeatedly unplug cables and plug them back in. I was going to keep it and give it another try but not sure I want to throw away $100 if it doesn’t work.

I bought one today based on your review. Ive seen some bad reports on this jump pak here on youtube, but... I live in a cold climate and Part source here in Canada said I have a 3 month return if I dont like it, ir it does not work, so... the purchase was a no brainer. My Avenger usually starts, but at -25c and the added wind chill, it does not want to crank at all. So... I am hoping this guy can boost my 2.4L 4 cylinder. Ill report back :)

I took mine out of the box before I watched this video. I plugged it into a USB charger at my house to charge the GB40 for the first time and the error LED came on steady, indicating reverse polarity! There was nothing in the manual about this situation. I pushed the buttons on the front, nothing. I unplugged it from the USB charger and the light remained on. I plugged it back in, no change, unplugged it, plugged it back in, the light remained on. But when I unplugged it and plugged it in a third time the error light went off and it started charging. Hopefully the unit isn't faulty, but I think that there was absolutely no charge in it to start with. I will leave an update later.

    NOCO GB 40
Didn't start my Honda 2.2 said it could start up to 3L however no luck here - was dead - the battery was at 5.7 volts and it was cold but not freezing - was not enough amps took my battery off the car and then charged overnight then put battery back on and car started - this device was not capable- I think it can start a battery with some drop in charge but not a depleted battery. I charged it all night then tried again in the morning with no battery straight to leads no start again .

Great review. However, would like to see how it performs in an environment likely to actually kill your battery...ie. when it is -20 C or colder here in Canada. I have my doubts that this unit will turn over the truck when its that cold given it barely turned it over during this video.

I bought one of this in the hope of jump starting my 2021 toyota hilux sr5, I connected all the clamps as instructed, turned the unit on and wait for the boost light to come on, then started the engine, engine turned over a little bit but unable to fully turn on, the noco then overheated and showed the exclamation light blinking, 2 bar s of battery already drained, I don't know what I did wrong, really need some help.

Noco battery booster is bad ass! also you forgot to mention that they don't over boost dead batteries. most of the newer cars don't like voltage spikes. Iv seen people get jump started by a tow truck driver and they end up needing a PCM or BCM.

Ugh I bought the wrong NOCO, I got the Genius 1 because the AAA guy recommend it. I need to plug the Genius 1 into an outlet to charge the car battery. Where I live I am not able to do that. The GB40 would work better for me since I can charge it in the house and then jump the car.

    Important to note!
Yes it's a automobile battery booster & expected to be kept at full readiness should the unfortunate event occur...meaning fully charged. But keeping a lithium ion (or lithium polymer) battery fully charged for extended periods (weeks/months) without using degrades the battery because of prolonged "internal chemo/electro stress"! There is enough proof out there to suggest these battery boosters can crank a auto engine with a 'charge level' of ~65% - 75%.
Observe safe operating protocols & it should last many years...all else being reasonably good (manufacturing quality etc...).

Hi, I just found that the model GB20 use a battery of 2150 mAh - 500 A, and the model GB40 use the same battery 2150 mAh but 1000 A ¿What does it mean? I tought 1000A would be twice the capacity of the battery of the GB20, but I guess I am wrong.
