Ghost is so fucking unique. It's definitely not for everyone but I love them
No, they're not. They're generic Satanic doom metal. They're the Iron Maiden of Doom. Good riffs and catchy hooks. I love them, too. But to call them original is to ignore the entire genre. Ghost just stands above all the others in this realm. Which is a good thing for them.

Mephistopheles is a demon featured in German folklore. He originally appeared in literature as the demon in the Faust legend.
Also different from usual depictions of demons where, instead of trying to corrupt someone, he seeks out those who are already damned

Ghost is so good. Really recommend Square Hammer, Cirice, Spillways, Dance Macabre, Kaisarion, Year Zero, Monstrance Clock, Rats, Griftwood, Respite on the Spitalfields, Zenith. Can't go wrong with any of those.

Ghost is fabulous. So many catchy songs in different genres within the rock pantheon. 'Little Sunshine' is a reference to 'Lucifer', 'Bringer of Light' in Latin. Or 'Mephistopheles' in this song.

All of their songs are clever. But the most clever of them all, IMO, must be "Ghost - He is" ..you can literally play it to your momma and she'll think that is the best christian song she ever heard.. brilliant, beautiful ballad!
Except for the lyrics about two star crossed lovers reaching out to the beast of many names. This is a definite reference to all the satanic names.
When I listen to this song, which is a masterpiece imho and the guitar riffs are reminiscent of the Eagles "Hotel California", I was definitely thinking, this is a song you could
listen to and identify it as a Christian song, then the beast lyrics come in and bam, it ruins the song for me.

Little Sunshine also looks deceptive but its a reference to either/both Alistair Crowley, a known Satanist, or to the fact Lucifer means the morning star and the bringer of light, aka, the little sunshine.

The whole theme of the band , which by the way they really are not satanic, is that it’s a satanic church leader trying to recruit cult members by reaching people through catchy fun tunes 😂 the singer “Tobias Forge” plays everything besides drums and keys on the records and the “nameless ghouls “ which are the bands are hired for touring. But for a few years now he’s used the same nameless ghouls on tour. So much that we all now know who they really are. But the fact that they keep the masks and the aura of mystery is, IMO what makes the Ghost magic happen. And the music naturally. Dig deep and get immersed. If you have Ghost(s) you have everything.

Honestly this band would have been multi millionaires if they did not include Satan in their lyrics and join the mainstream media. Its dark, artistic and beautiful, something different but yet familiar. I love this band for being different.
If you can't break out of your comfort zone this band is not for you. Mephistopheles is a minor demon. Demon shadows don't scare me, its the demons that claim to be angels that do.
