It hasn’t been that way for some time now tbh. Tobias has studio musicians as well. On this whole album he recruited the guitar player of the band Opeth

@@ArtVandelay77 No it’s common knowledge now that Tobias doesn’t do it all in the studio anymore. He does play bass on the new Ghost but he also hires musicians to fill in other roles in the studio. On their new album Impera Fredrik Åkesson does all the guitar you hear on the album. He also plays with the band Opeth

Ghost has a lot of different sounds, depending on what album you go with. They are AMAZING live!! I would suggest Year Zero (from an older album) or Respite on the Spitalfields (from Impera you just did) They really do grab hold of you, once you take a listen

This song is a reference to English occultist, philosopher, ceremonial magician, poet, painter, novelist and mountaineer Aleister Crowley. The same person from Ozzy's great song Mr. Crowley. The song title is taken from Crowley's quote 'The Beast 666' only means 'sunlight.' You can call me 'Little Sunshine.'

It's tongue in cheek. It's theatrical. Nameless ghouls come from many places. I saw them live in Chicago. Do a little research. It's all for entertainment and look into the lore and backstory

Cirice mate, would be great. Ghost is a great band, Tobias is the main man, the other member are nameless in purpose. I think in a concert Dave Grohl joined them as the drummer with the mask and everything. Also Hetfield is a great fan, there's a video of him trying to get the Cirice riff right in his ESP. Cool video. Keep it up.
As Tobias has said himself in some old interview, the "devil" the band is representing in the lyrics is sort of a popcultural one, not necessarily the one found in "holy scripture". To an extent, but the alleged satanism is an act and fictional to a large (and fairly obvious if you've followed the band a while) degree. The devil in his music often symbolises rebellion, or contra-normative values and are more often sort of used like a diabolus moralisarus than anything else. His lyrics might seem simple, but there's always layers to it and underlying meanings and messaging. Like Mary on A Cross is not only a pro-cannabis song, it's also to some degree about female liberation. So yeah. You kinda need to take that into account. It's an act, and don't read it at face value.
I remember when the band was fairly new, I think it was around the Meliora period, when they got their grammy here in Sweden, and the swedish arch bishop was asked about them by mainstream media because of their popularity, and he just laughed and found their "satanism" just amusing and non-serious. Like an amusing cartoonish version of satanism I think he phrased it, a satire just playing on tropes.
The black metal scene there is real but their real Satanist bands burn churches, not just play on confetti and fake money

I'm impressed as usual by Judsons keen ear and fast mind, Tobias said in an interview that four-chord songs work, so he will stick to writing that. Uncertain if Tobias by that meant the simplicity, or any specific four chords, but my guess is the style rather than the chords themselves.
As you're friend plays piano i would highly recommend Zenith for him to listen to 😃

Ghost is primarily Tobias. The ghouls are just for the stage. There's another group of people that are the recording artists. The ghouls are a variety of artist from across the spectrum of music. Sodo, the lead guitarist of the ghouls, he is actually a guitarist in Katatonia. Tobias has and interesting music history that blends in with this life growing up.
Great tune very catchy ... Check out their earlier albums think you guys would enjoy the first album very seventy rock vibes with modern sound too... Opus Eponymous great album.

Well aware. However, in 𝘍𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘵, Faust makes a “deal with the devil” which is how the eventual etymology and tradition ends up generalizing Mephisto as THE devil rather than A devil/demon. I am a big fan Goethe and a wide range literature and folklore but I was being more general in my comment..

I've heard a bit of Ghost now and my conclusion is that it's for people that aren't me. I just can't see myself doing boring housework to it, and that ultimately is the best way to judge whether music has connected with you.
All fair points and my initial comment was flippant and not intended as a serious starting point for debate. However, it is an interesting point about when and where music enters our lives, and tailoring different types of music to our activity. The stuff I listen to is so instinctive, as it is for everyone else, that it feels weird that other people don't have the same likes. We're all the hero of our own movie, and each has its own soundtrack.
@Darker_Waters you didn't come off as argumentative at all, and my reasoning is often weird so don't you worry about that. In my youth I was quite militant about what I considered to be good music but as the years have passed, I've come to like some of the stuff I hated. Ghost definitely aren't my thing, although I can't really pin down why. Give me another decade and I may well be obsessed with them, but until then, what I will say is that I'd still much rather listen to them than Swifty.
