Fix your Bosch Ice Maker with out removing it!

- This is a follow up video on how to remove the ice maker. If you continue to pull the ice maker out further than I did in this video, then it will drop down out of the track on the top. At that point you can start your fight with the wiring as I showed in the last video of what it looks like out. Hopefully you only have to do what I show here and not remove the entire assembly. As for me I was fully committed and didn't know what I was doing or I would have stopped at this point. Hope this helps. :)

There have been a few comments about this, but put the magnet in place. Test it out to make sure it is making ice. If not, flip the magnet around and test again. @chrisluehmann3094 found that the magnet is pole sensitive He said one side of the magnet has a very light dusting of white paint. This side must be facing away from the sensor.
Once it is working, I would make sure you know which side needs to face the magnet then put some glue on the back of the magnet so it doesn't come out again. (the part of the magnet that faces away from the sensor) I used super glue myself.
Thank you!!! We watched the video after our ice maker stopped working and the mischievous magnet was there beside the lever just like in the video, and now a few hours later and zero dollars spent we have our ice maker back, thanks for posting super easy fix!
Awesome! I was so happy when I got my ice maker to work. It sounds like you feel the same way. I was prepared to buy a whole unit if needed.
So awesome! You literally saved me, and by the looks of it, dozens of other people, a ton of time and hassle trying to diagnose this. Collectively you've saved Bosch fridge owners thousands of dollars. Wish I could buy you a beer haha!
You will have to enjoy some drinks with your newly made ice for me. 😁
Mate, thank you so much for taking the time to post this video. I had the same issue with my fridge and the fridge guy just wanted to replace the ice maker. Would have cost me over $300. I did what you did and found the magnet sitting on the bottom of the ice maker. Placed it back in and glued it, now it works just as it did before. You are a champ. Once again, thank you for saving me $$$$💵💵💵🤑🤑🤑
😁
OMG!! Our Bosch ice maker FINALLY WORKS!! It was the dislodged magnet that manages the ice lever... we waited over 24 hours and sure as hell, we FINALLY have ice after 6 years of ZERO ice. We followed each of your steps... THANK YOU!!
😃
Nice job with the video Bud and I appreciate you posting it! Saved me from calling out a repairman and probably getting hit with a couple hundred dollar charge vs. a 10 minute do it yourself repair. Popped that cover off and sure enough found the magnet had dislodged.
Awesome! 😁
Same issue for my ice maker that hasn't worked for at least 5 years. I had it all apart before but missed the loose magnet. Just repaired and now waiting to see if it fixes the issue. Thanks for posting your fix!
Good luck. I hope you hear the sweet sound of ice being made soon!
@@smikey. Confirmed. This fixed my ice maker's issue. Thanks again!
Thanks brother! Huge help!!
You are welcome. Hope you got it working!
You’re a total boss. 👊👊👊
I appreciate that!
Yes Same thing the magnet was attached the top of the micro switch housing. Thanks for the advice re access to the icebox. It took about 5 mins to open and put back. I might put some hot melt on the back of the clip and magnet so they don’t come apart. The guys from Bosch have a $150 call out fee and wanted to replace my icebox talking to them over the phone. All they are interested in is the moolah $$$ worse than pool shops.
More and more places just replace everything when the do a so called repair.
Thanks for the info. Our magnet was in exactly the same place. Waiting to see if that was the only issue…
Good luck! 🤞
Great Job! what is the issue if it continually to make ice?
Check to make sure the white arm is able to move up and down and is not stuck in the down position. Let me know if you still have an issue.
The ice tray is not sliding out so easy like in your vid. Any tips? I was thinking of taking the stuff out of the fridge and letting it melt a bit.
If you have the same model of fridge, just make sure all the screws are out then gently wiggle it back and forth as you slide it out. If it isn't the same model, check for additional screws.
@@smikey. I did not realize there were screws - thanks!
No problem.
What orientation does magnet go mine has white paint on one side?
Put the clean magnet side toward the circuit board.
I have a question that side button that you pressed to removed the cover is not working. Trying not to brake it but any suggestions?
It may not be the side button. I found the ice unit was stuck in the first time. Try pushing the button while wiggling the unit side to side and up and down.
What was the time of the video you were asking about?
Perfect. If that doesn't work, a lot of people besides me have found the magnet out of place.
Hey mate I am at 2:49, inserting the blade bit into the bottom slot to pop off the cover. I've been at it for nearly an hour and I can't seem to get it to pop out. The inner plastic tab pushes up when I use the blade bit, but the cover doesn't pop out like yours did. Same model and such. Any advice? Thanks in advance.
I ended up putting the blade bit into a multidriver and flexing the front panel down below the tab and then just pulled the cover off. As suspected, no magnet in the arm. It was stuck to the spring. Got the magnet back in, reassembled the whole thing and turned the ice maker back on, drawer is back in. Hopefully when I wake up I will have ice. Thank you!
Check to make sure you get the screw at the top out. Try to pull the ice maker out and down as much as possible. Then push the tab like you were and with a second small blade screw driver, gently pry at the cover seam. Maybe a second set of hands would help with all this.
I am glad. I sure hope it works out for you. I love when I am able to get save money and get things working at the same time. 😁
@@smikey. Its the best feeling of accomplishment in the world. You rock!
Let me know when you hear the sweet sounds of ice being made!
We have the 2012 model B26FT70SNS/02 can you assist. They no longer make a replacement unit.
What is the symptom you are experiencing?
@@smikey. ice machine not working
Your magnet was in the right location as talked about in the video?
I will try to find an ice maker replacement part for you.
I found a couple of websites still selling the unit. The OEM part number looks like it is 00649962
www.genuinereplacementparts.com/11033701-oem
www.searspartsdirect.com/product/1bm32q4myi-0046-630/id-00649962
Taking your model number and searching your fridge model for a parts diagram will also show more websites that you can buy from.
@@smikey. thank you will check them out. Curious why repair store and technician told us no longer made.
My ice maker works but the dispenser doesn't. When pressing the button the flap opens but the ice pusher doesn't spin. Don't suppose you know how to fix that?
Start with checking that both magnets are in the proper location. Let me know what you find.
I cannot remove the ice container in my Bosch refrigerator. I depress the release button but the ice container will not release. Any suggestions as to how to remove the ice container?
It could be stuck. So push on the button and gently just wiggle it up and down and side to side and see if you can get it to free up. Hopefully that works.
@@smikey. Thanks. I read that in one of your earlier posts. I’ve tried it multiple times with no success. I just raised the temperature a few degrees to see if that will work. In the meantime I will keep doing what you suggested.
That is another alternative that it is frozen.
I hope it works out!
@@smikey. Thanks. I’ll let you know.
My Bosch ice maker doesn’t make enough ice. I’m always hitting the reset button to drop ice. How do I fix this problem
I am not too sure. Is it the same model of fridge as mine?
I am pretty sure my ice maker doesn't have a reset button.

It is a different model. Unfortunately I don't know how it works or even what would be different.
My ice maker won't release after i press the button. Suggestions? Thanks very much.
Hey I am not quite sure what you mean about your Ice maker wont release after pushing the button. Can you give any more details? Do you mean the switch is stuck, or the ice still doesn’t come out of the machine after you push the on button?
Hi, Thanks for getting back. Backstory- motor will activate when button on panel is touched so I believe auger is turning as I can hear the churning. No ice coming out of chute. Water feature works fine. When I press the square white button on the right side of the cover (the one you pressed with your thumb) the tray with the auger wont slide out.
Try only pushing the bottom of that white button. That is the part that pushes in, not the top. While the bottom of the button is pushed in, give the tray a tug out. If that doesn’t work try rocking it slightly back and forth and you do the previous steps. Let me know how it goes.
@@smikey. ! Thanks. I got the tray out! I had to give it more of a tug than I thought I should have but it did release. Not to watch the rest of the video again!
So I think that the plastic arm is stuck in the up position, not contacting the magnet to send the signal to make ice. I will check your other videos to see if there are instructions for that. Thanks
Great video however after putting my magnet back and ensuring that it had a clean surface and made contact with the switch my ice maker still doesn't work. Did anyone else have the same issue or problem.. I will check the water solenoid next but would appreciate any thoughts anyone has.
You have made sure the red on switch is on? Does it make any noises?
@@smikey. Thanks I actually took the magnet out again, completely cleaned the surface of all materials, reinserted it and today we had ice. Thank you though for responding it was much appreciated. Again great video showing the steps needed to fix our ice maker.
Wow. Awesome. I bet it feels great to have figured that out!
@@smikey. Yes Great New Year's eve present!
@@danielfischer3539 Hi Daniel, hoping you can assist mate. I found the magnet wasn't in its little spot on that arm & was stuck to the motor so re-inserted it into the arm but still no ice. can you elaborate on what you cleaned (assume arm & little black sensor on the PCB?) and if there is a specific orientation that the magnet has to be installed ? are there any tests that can be done other than waiting x hrs for ice once surfaces cleaned? eg. ice mech filling with water? i'm also getting no voltage on the associated water intake solenoid currently. thanks heaps craig.
I broke the arm and now it produces a few ices :/
That sucks.
