I was going to give in and call a repairman to repair/replace my ice maker but then I came across this video. After explaining to my confused wife why I needed to borrow her hair dryer (I'm bald), I started defrosting the water line and now my ice maker is working once again. Thank you!
when my wife saw me taking her hair dryer, which I've never ever used before, she asked me what I needed it for, I said to fix the fridge, she answered You are buying me a new one!!!!, I said, OK, If it doesn't work I buy you a new hair dryer; but if it works you owe me a fridge, she still have her hair dryer but never pay me for fixing the fridge
After the repair person "fixed" the ice maker, it didn't make ice. Of course he didn't stick around to make sure it worked. Your first tip fixed it for us. Thanks so much! We are not renewing our warranty with that company.
I almost called for professional help until I came across your video and used a heat gun to thaw the ice inside the water line. It worked. Thank you for your tips! Really, really appreciated it.
I knew ice cubes had gotten jammed in the unit and I cleared them out the best I could by hand. Still nothing happening and I thought of using a hair dryer, but was hesitant. After watching your video, we were back to making ice in 5 minutes. Great video - thank you!
Thank you so much, Tyler! When this happened to our previous fridge, all I had for advice to follow was the Sears guy who came out the first time, and he had me unplugging the fridge and leaving it that way for 24 hours, regardless of the fact that I had to find somewhere to save everything inside it, and all he said I could do to help it along was leave the freezer door open and put a fan in front of it to help it dry out! This time, after watching your wonderful video, I knew just where to go to pull out the ice tray, and even though I couldn't specifically see the fill tube, the whole upper portion of the compartment that the ice tray goes into was frozen, so I just followed the same advice as for the frozen fill tube; I unplugged the fridge yesterday, took a hair dryer on its lowest setting, thawed it all off, wiped all the water out till it was as dry as I could get it, plugged it back in, let it do its thing overnight, and this morning it was full of ice, making more as soon as I got some, and totally back to normal! Thank you so much for having the consideration to post such a helpful video in a day and age when fridge manufacturers don't want anyone to have easy fixes! Boulevard Home has some wonderful people, truly helping people and making a difference!
Hello Marcia! We are so glad to hear our video was able to help you fix your ice machine. We are glad to have been a part of the solution. Thank you so much for watching our video and for letting us know about your experience. Thank you for your support. Please let us know if there is ever anything else we can help you with! We hope you have a great day.
Sorry but I have issue right off with the woman popping in and out of the ice box and then the frig as intro into the next tips. Kids see a trusted adult mom hiding in the frig is a stupid part of the video.
Thanks for your help with this. I was rushed when installing a new water filter and forgot to test it. I realized that I had installed the water filter a week before I realized we had no ice. It took us a week to use up all of the ice in the bin. Then when I tested for water flow, there was none. I removed and then reinstalled the water filter. Voila, water flow and I could hear water flowing into the ice maker.
Pretty sure that's how mine stopped working as well, but I'd already tried removing the water filter and reinstalling it with no luck. Guess I'll try the hair dryer now. :(
Thank you for your video and tips. You presented everything in an easy-to-understand efficient manner using visuals that illustrated various ice maker and refrigerator designs. I found this information to be one of the best consumer-friendly tutorials concerning ice maker issues! One suggestion is to remove the clips of the woman who jumps out of a refrigerator so children never attempt to imitate and play hide-and-seek in a refrigerator, freezer, or any appliance. Thanks again for the helpful information.
Thank You ! Your hairdryer tip worked went on vacation shut main water off n did not shut off ice maker runway to ice maker froze solid thawed out n few hours later making ice again I’m sure you saved me at least a $150 service call thanks again
Thanks for the tips Tyler. I used the hairdryer trick and it didn’t work initially. A few days later I used the hairdryer and a tube from my shop vac to concentrate the hot air on the right area. It started working in no time. I’d already ordered a new ice maker but I no longer need it.
Helpful information as the ice was not coming out of my refrigerator. Tip #2 showed the location of the ice tray, and I found the ice was stuck together which prevented it from falling down the chute when needed.
Perfect, straightforward explanation. Congratulations on the video. I think the Frigidaire company should pay attention to making explanatory videos like this.
Thanks didn’t solve my problem exactly but did lead me to the right area! The volve wasn’t frozen but there was frozen ice on the machine where it was supposed to put the ice so must’ve thought it was full. Just in case this helps anyone else!
And the most common fix in my experience... Bang on the ice bucket to break apart ice chunks, which prevents ice from dispensing. Great vid, but I had to throw that in. Thanks!
Thank you so much!! My Whirlpool was only 8 months old and I noticed about a week ago that ice was not being made. I was putting off calling for service on it because of Covid and really don't want people in my house. I decided to look up on UA-cam! I found your video and BAM!! Fixed! Thank you a million times over!
Hi Gina! We are so glad to hear our video was able to help you! We are so happy that your ice maker is working again. Thanks for watching! Let us know if there are any other questions you'd like us to answer.
Thanks so much Tyler. My ice machine stopped working after I changed my filter. After watching your video I realized that water must have frozen in the inlet. Sure enough, it was frozen and now the ice machine is working!
great tips, the hair dryer fix my problem, I had to switch the water filter but I got a wrong one, so I let the water off till next day when I went back to the store to get the right one, the water in the feeding tube to the ice maker was not moving and got frozen, I put the new filter and had cold water, my ice bucket was full from before replacing the water filter; but after a few days the ice bucket was getting almost empty, thanks to your tip I use a hair dryer right to the feeding pipe to the ice maker and water started to run, then I realize that there was ice stock on the ice tray, I put the hair blower right on the ice making tray got it loose and got the space free for new ice to be make, other wise I would probably have water just running of the tray into the bucket and instead of having ice cubes I would be having a block of ice!!
I was an idiot and used a kitchen torch… it’ll leave black marks on the plastic so don’t do that. I thought at the right distance it would work lol. It did melt the ice however and it worked again.
Can the one tap in the kitchen that is reverse osmosis affect the LG ice maker? We have had two new LG French door refrigerators in the last 6 months and neither one produces ice. So frustrated!
Good stuff! But my problem may be less simple. KitchenAid bottom drawer freezer. No water going to the maker. There is a water dispenser that works fine, so I think that eliminates the filter and water supply. I removed (loosen two screws, remove one, and an electrical connector) and inspected the unit. Nothing obvious. I put it back. Let it sit for an hour, off, with the drawer open. Probed the water tube from the freezer end, no resistance. Opened up the input on the back, and probed there. Again. no resistance. Somewhere there has to be a valve, and I suspect that where the problem is. Put everything back. Listened to it cycling as if to dump ice, over and over. No ice. So I raised the bail and left it shut off. Oh well, ice cube trans for now.
I have an LG with a slim ice maker in the left door. We just replaced the ice maker unit. It's now make ice,(wasn't before) but it's not dumping it. How can I know if the photo eyes are working properly?
#7 needs to be to flip the breaker off and on. It worked for me. I think our sensor light was not working (we have an armless version) and this reset it.
LG, ice maker in bottom drawer -- hair dryer has worked but only to precipitate a few trays of ice. Should we try warming the freezer for a longer period? We've tried this twice now, and each has proved but a short term temporary fix.
My KitchenAid 5-Drawer Refrigerator (KRMF706ESS) is making ice, but very little; the container never fills up actually. Any suggestions for what could be causing low ice production and solutions for fixing?
My newer LG refrigerator was making ice but not dispensing it and I rlread one of the forums to reduce the temperature of the freezer by - 2 and that solve the problem. Remember it takes 24 hours for this to take effect. Because I was at + 3 and being it's summer you have to decrease the temperature so the ice doesn't melt in the box and that cause it not wanting to come through the ice shoot.
Thanks for the tips! It helped me figure out, why, my ice maker was not dispensing ice cubes. I have directions inside my LG refrigerator door (I never realized the directions on the door until your video)and it gave me 3 tips on how to unclog it. So, I removed the ice cube tray and perform surgery. When I looked at the chute, I immediately saw all of the cubed ice sitting on the outside of the, entrance, to the clogged chute. I used my hands to remove those blocking cubes and used a butter knife to push the clogged cubes, downward, that was inside the chute. All of the clogged cubes slid out the chute, onto the floor and Wella! No more clogs and ice is dispensing, as usual. I'm happy.😊
Tyler, I was watching this video in distress that my ice maker hasn’t made ice in days. As you were talking, 11 seconds in. Boom. This shit spits out ice. Thanks Ty!
Hi Colin! We are so glad to hear that you were able to find and resolve the issue with your ice maker! Thank you for watching. Please let us know if you ever have any questions! :)
If you’re getting water from the door, shouldn’t the line be unclogged? I checked all that you showed but the water line…afraid to go that far. I have a Frigidaire French door just changed water filter 6/6/24. Everything has been working up until yesterday…not making ice.
Does it make a different if the refrigerator is still dispensing water or do they have separate lines? Tried the hair dryer for 5-10 minutes & now waiting but don’t hear the water dispensing into the ice maker unit.
Help please. We had to turn off our home main water due to a bathroom plumbing issue. Once repaired the main water supply turned back on. This is when we noticed our ice maker in our whirlpool refrigerator no longer working. What can I do about this? Is there a reset? It’s an older older but has worked perfect for years Thank you
I replaced the Water Control Valve inside the fridg and all good EXCEPT my water in the door drips for about 30 seconds after the water is shutoff. Any ideas on how to fix this????
My Samsung side by side ice maker stopped working two days ago. I have it set at 0 degrees and I hit the reset button and when it tried cycling, it stopped mid cycle. The motor stopped running and the arm and paddles won’t move. I’ve tried the reset again, and nothing! Could the motor have gone bad? Thanks
I have the temperature set at the coldest and I have reset it. My frig is only 6 days old. It only makes a couple of trays a day. Is there any way to speed it up???
I have the bin like on the french door where you push the buttons and pull it out. What happen when it is stuck and wont open. No matter how hard i push the buttons and pull it wont open. I am trying to open so i can see whats up with the ice not working and cant
My ice is dispensed in the door and the maker is in the fridge. I don't see a way to look at the ice maker water line the flap isn't opening to remove. I have a whirlpool refrigerator
If the water dispenser on the door works, but the ice maker does not work, can you rule out the filter clog or any other clog in the line? My ice maker isn't working but the water dispenser on the door is fine.
From one of our repair technicians: Yes 99.9 % of the time. Old filters can cause water to flow slowly in to the icemaker making the fill line freeze at the point the water comes in to the icemaker not allowing water to flow in to the icemaker. The cause of the failure could be due to an old filter ultimately. But if water is flowing out the door the filter isn’t stopping the water from flowing to the icemaker.
Hi Elizabeth! You're welcome! Thank you so much for watching. Please let us know if there are any other videos you'd like to see from us. Have a great day!
I have a french door KitchenAid freezer on the bottom. Water working to the door, but no ice. I have flushed the line and checked the filter. Any ideas? Manual said remove water filter and it should work if filter was bad. That didn't work either.
it took you to long, the water on the line feeding the ice maker got frozen, cause you have to close the water valve, if the water does not move it freezes, just find where the water comes to your ice maker and put a hair dryer to get unfrozen, not much time, keep it on and off till you fill water running with your finger, if you touch your ice making tray and there is ice, most like like is stuck, so use the hair dryer to run it on top the tray back and forward, is only 8" long back and for in 3 seconds til the ice melts or is dump by the machine, you do not want to melt the plastic casing just the ice!!
I haven’t changed my filter in a year but water still comes out fine. Does this mean that the water filter is not the issue for my fridge not making ice?
Hold the button down for a while see if that helps. Try unplugging the fridge and then plug it back in after 10 secs. If those don’t work and you have tried the other steps the best step might be to call a repairman. Hope you can figure it out.
The Samsung model recommends to turn off the supply water line before changing the filter. I did not and it broke some plastic piece and had to have a new ice maker installed.
Frig / Freezer works, then gets warm, ice maker works, but does not dispense ice, water does dispense. Have removed the water filter. When cold, ice is made until the bin is full, icemaker shuts off, frig / freezer gets warm again. Thanks for your help.
My ice is still making and it is full i had to shut off but the metal swirl thing that pushes the ice to come out only moves a sec then stops and makes like a “stuck” sound.
It makes it easy for the freezer to regulate the temp when there is more food. However you are correct that if it is so full that the air vent is blocked it will do not good.
THANK YOU SO MUCH 😊 We just got this Fridge and we thought it was broken, because our old Fridge had a metal rod . So thank you for saving us a lot of time . Tina G.🌺

Great tips, thank you!

I have a french door KitchenAid freezer on the bottom. Water working to the door, but no ice. I have flushed the line and checked the filter. Any ideas? Manual said remove water filter and it should work if filter was bad. That didn't work either.
Same problem. Did you find out your issue? I’d love to know.
Thank you so much interested video,

🤣🤣🤣 that's ok we all done that lol

Any ideas on why after changing the water filter, ice production stopped?
it took you to long, the water on the line feeding the ice maker got frozen, cause you have to close the water valve, if the water does not move it freezes, just find where the water comes to your ice maker and put a hair dryer to get unfrozen, not much time, keep it on and off till you fill water running with your finger, if you touch your ice making tray and there is ice, most like like is stuck, so use the hair dryer to run it on top the tray back and forward, is only 8" long back and for in 3 seconds til the ice melts or is dump by the machine, you do not want to melt the plastic casing just the ice!!
I haven’t changed my filter in a year but water still comes out fine. Does this mean that the water filter is not the issue for my fridge not making ice?
If water is still flowing the filter is not the issue.
How did you fix it?
That’s my problem. I get water at the refrigerator door. But no water to the ice maker.
I don’t know what’s up with it.
On the door panel, the lighted touch-switch says "Ice off." When I press it, the switch won't respond. Your thoughts?
Hold the button down for a while see if that helps. Try unplugging the fridge and then plug it back in after 10 secs. If those don’t work and you have tried the other steps the best step might be to call a repairman. Hope you can figure it out.
Thanks. My son turned the switch off😐
The Samsung model recommends to turn off the supply water line before changing the filter. I did not and it broke some plastic piece and had to have a new ice maker installed.
Sorry to hear that. We always recommend following the manufactures recommended procedures when possible. Thanks for sharing!

Frig / Freezer works, then gets warm, ice maker works, but does not dispense ice, water does dispense. Have removed the water filter. When cold, ice is made until the bin is full, icemaker shuts off, frig / freezer gets warm again. Thanks for your help.

Samsung Refrigerator model # RF263BE ice maker not fill up
with water. Show me what the on/off for the ice maker should look like.
? More food in the freezer is better?
My freinds bottom drawer freezer is packed to the top with food…. How does the air circulate with it so full?
It makes it easy for the freezer to regulate the temp when there is more food. However you are correct that if it is so full that the air vent is blocked it will do not good.
@@BoulevardHome - thanks.
THANK YOU SO MUCH 😊
We just got this Fridge and we thought it was broken, because our old Fridge had a metal rod .
