Cornell--we'll never get anyone else like him. When I saw him with Soundgarden in Trenton back in '90 or '91, the entire crowd was mesmerized by his every move. At one point he jumped up, took hold of a ceiling girder, and climbed out over the crowd like some Rock aerialist. And he could sing! RIP.
No Diss to M.J. but Chris took this song, rearranged it perfectly, and made it totally his own !!! Next up should be his cover of Prince's " Nothing Compares To You" Rest Easy Chris !!!
Start at the beginning with Chris Fell on Bad Days Black Hole Sun Hunger Strike (Temple of the Dog) Show me how to live Like a stone Xm's Nothing compares to you
I love all of his acoustic stuff, it is just mind-blowing and it showcases him as an amazing singer. Lots of good original Tunes as well. I love his cover of John Lennon's imagine, it's live in an arena somewhere.
I love Chris Cornell, and he was the first to bring this bluesy sound to Billie Jean. Soundgarden and Audioslave are tow great bands and his solo stuff is great
Amazing how different 2 great artists can make the same song. Chris Cornell has a unique, wonderful voice, and he makes some unusual sound choices that always seem to work out amazingly.
This is one of my most favorite covers, that was a total respectful departure of the original... I love when artists make a song their song, more than direct cover.
Its simply genius! Let's take that genius a step further...you need to react to Chris singing the lyrics of Metallica's song "One" to the music of U2's song "One". I suggest you listen to both those originals first, which are incidentally, great songs as well, and then you can appreciate Chris' brilliance in combining the two songs but lets not kid ourselves, Chris could sing a book of recipes and we would all be spellbound so the real brilliance is simply that voice and the way he uses it. Gold!
You should check out David Cook's studio rendition (not the short American Idol one) of Chris Cornell's cover of Billie Jean and you should check out Chris Cornell's cover of Whitney's I Will Always Love You, which he sung in tribute to her at the time of her death.
My favorite vocalist. His AOL acoustic " Nothing Compares to U" and the "Billie Jean" on that platform are amazing. Even if you can't review them on your channel, check him out. Pretty sure he will make the PDC.
Yeah, there's an acoustic version -- I wish I could remember where -- where I think there's a cello and acoustic. Its quiet and intimate and gorgeous. I think its NPR or AAA station with a few audience members.
To make a song different and beautiful...brilliant. I do love when someone can do a cover and keep it the same. To change it and still do it justice...AMAZING!
This man is so missed. I was fortunate to see him live...I will always cherish that. He could've sang the phone book and it would've gone double platinum!
you need to go down the Chris Cornell rabbit hole - definitely one of the most passionate, talented vocalists and musicians of recent times. Gone too soon, RIP Chris.
Chris Cornell is a legend,, As the lead singer of soundgarden he defined the 90s. He is one of the most respected rock singer of his generation.. One of my favourites, He is written some incredible music. Before he passed away he did several different covers and this is one of them,, R.I.P 😭Chris, You are missed...
I love those band mates ..guys that follow him on his solo tour. Yogi Lonich and Pete Thorn on guitar, Corey McCormick on bass and Jason Sutter on drums
@chrismalik1579 They gave it more of a grunge/rock feel. And a cover song just means that it was previously recorded by someone else. Cover doesn't imply changes have been made.
@toddwynn3397 most covers do... most artists change the vibe of the song making it a cover... alien ant farm just copied it basically so no that doesn't make it a cover... go look up most covers and most responses to them say its a cover because it's different or they changed it... there is an actual definition for it in music and the definition literally states when a different artist sings or performs a song from another artist and changes the original version
He took Michael's pop version and made it real and angry. False accusations need to be met with anger. That man felt it like he had experienced it personally.
Most do is the cover of Nothing Compare to To U from Chris Cornell (RIP 🙏 Brother from Prince Also may he Rest In Peace). Respect to Sinead O'Connor ( RIP miss )for her version of the same song .
Hes done a few versions of the cover, everybody here should listen to the stripped back version, juat him and his acoustic, live. Its amazing, and i think he sings it much better tbh. Thumbnail of the video is just his face in black and white, just audio no video. Go watch it!
I love MJ's version of this song, and growing up in the 80's I would probably call the original my #1 80's song as far as reminding me of my childhood. But I didn't even know what this song was about until much later in life, because the pop and fun upbeat sound of the song just doesn't match with how dark and sinister the song really is. That being said, I really think Chris Cornell's arrangement of it is a much better representation of the song's message and story. That's not to take anything away from the legend of MJ. The video of him dancing and walking down that sidewalk as the blocks light up is still just about the coolest thing ever. There is an audio only version of Chris doing this sound in a small lounge type venue in (I believe?) Sweden. And it's got this same pace and feel, but it's much more intense and emotional. This is more refined and arranged. But you should definitely check out the other one, if just for your own experience. It's intense AF. I'll link it. ua-cam.com/video/R0uWF-37DAM/v-deo.html
Finding amazing covers is a great passion of mine. It always makes my day that much brighter when I come across a cover like one of Chris Cornell's. He always takes the songs, and makes them his, beautifully so, while making sure you know can still hear the original in there. That's the sign of a great cover. Another amazing cover of a Michael Jackson song you should check out is "Dirty Diana" by Shaman's Harvest. With their sound, the song hits just right.
Liked your reaction, please react to more Chris Cornell, Nowhere but you Blow up the outside Like suicide The day I tried to live Limo wreck Outshined Say hello to heaven R.I.P.
There's a true acoustic live version of this that truly blows this away. The thumbnail is just him looking at the camera in black and white. It's 5x better than this one
He always be me fav , one the best rock n roll vocalist of all time. I recommend you to check his cover "Nothing Compares 2 U - KROQ Almost Acoustic Xmas 2015" 🙌🙌🙌🙌
While some remakes are horrid, there are a few that without a doubt the new singer owns that song from then on. This is the case in Hurt - Johnny Cash, Nothing compares to you - Sinead O'Connor, and now Billy Jean - Chris Cornell.
The shame of the original is that the dancing and the imagery is so infectious that the lyrics lose its impact. Chris Cornell strips all of that away and exposes the bare lyrics for everyone to hear and feel. (Then again, I was a naive 9 year old when the Michael Jackson song came out and the lyrics would’ve gone over my head regardless)
It’s so tragic that Chris killed himself. And around that same time Chester Bennington of the band Linkin Park also took his life. It was a horrible one-two punch of deep sorrow to all of us. 💔
Hey Brit, it's definitely different than Michael Jackson's original; but I like it. By the way I haven't noticed that you've ever reacted to any Red Sovine songs. He's a country singer who unfortunately has passed but a good singer. I suggest Teddy Bear (not an Elvis song cover). His songs Little Joe, and Roses For Mama are also very good. But be sure you have tissues ready all three are sad songs.
When people, most anyway heard the original of this song I think it’s safe to say they automatically assumed the original singer wasn’t the father if the pregnancy involved sexual relations other than artificial insemination. Point being it was hard to find the emotions of the song being true. And I loved loved loved MJ but this was one of those songs where you know the song writer didn’t know the baby wasn’t his. The act of sex was for pregnancy with him, there was no busted contraception or a pull out game error. 😉
This is the first time I heard this song, not bad but I like his other stuff more. He's always good, wish he was still kicking like many other performers.
I got a idea let's put Chris Cornell together with Eddie Vedder. Hold on that already happened with the band. 👉 Temple Of The Dog 👈 With The Epic song 👉 Hunger Strike 👈 👌👍😃
Agreed, I've lived through some favorite singers dying, but when Chris hit, it was different. My favorite voice was always Layne Staley.. When he died I hated it, but it wasn't a surprise.. Chris was a surprise... It just feels the world is different knowing that voice will never grace us again..
Chris Cornell is an absolute icon.
“Nothing compares to U” is his best cover song! He was a true talent and will be truly missed! Great song and reaction!
Britt, hope you check out this song.
I will keep it in mind, thanks!
not the one on howard stern-! the one with some guy on cello and someone on a Nylon string Guitar to his right.@@brittreacts
Chris Cornell was so talented. He will always be my favorite. He could sing the Bible and make it even more amazing
No one could make the horrors and crimes in the bible sound good. No voice can sing about such awful things and make it sound good
you need Jesus and I pray for you both
Cornell--we'll never get anyone else like him. When I saw him with Soundgarden in Trenton back in '90 or '91, the entire crowd was mesmerized by his every move. At one point he jumped up, took hold of a ceiling girder, and climbed out over the crowd like some Rock aerialist. And he could sing!
RIP.
No doubt his version of this when it’s just him playing an acoustic guitar is the best. Great reaction!
For my money, one of the best vocalists of our generation .
No doubt
Any* generation
It takes so much talent to completely reconstruct such an iconic song, and make it work. Chris Cornell had that talent. He is so missed 😢
No Diss to M.J. but Chris took this song, rearranged it perfectly, and made it totally his own !!! Next up should be his cover of Prince's " Nothing Compares To You"
Rest Easy Chris !!!
Chris's bluesy version makes this song hit so different and much harder than the original 👍
Next…
Nothing Compares to You
Audio Slave - Like a Stone (video) have lyrics at the ready. It’s haunting.
RIP you are so missed.

Britt you should follow up with Chris singing ‘Nothing Compares to You (a Prince Cover) on xiriusXM 👌
I will keep it in mind, thanks!
His vocals with Temple of the Dog are the best. That is my favorite album.
I love all of his acoustic stuff, it is just mind-blowing and it showcases him as an amazing singer. Lots of good original Tunes as well. I love his cover of John Lennon's imagine, it's live in an arena somewhere.

Amazing vocals. There will never be another like him.

Everything this man touched was perfect.
Its simply genius! Let's take that genius a step further...you need to react to Chris singing the lyrics of Metallica's song "One" to the music of U2's song "One". I love and I mean LOVE seeing people discover Cornell
Chris' death is really the only celebrity death that affected me, he meant so much to so many 💔
You should check out David Cook's studio rendition (not the short American Idol one) of Chris Cornell's cover of Billie Jean and you should check out Chris Cornell's cover of Whitney's I Will Always Love You, which he sung in tribute to her at the time of her death.
Loved this reaction. I sure am going to miss you but best of wishes for you on the mom thing again. You rule.
When I’m down-live at the troubadour.
I'd love to think MJ would've Loved His version
My favorite vocalist. His AOL acoustic " Nothing Compares to U" and the "Billie Jean" on that platform are amazing. Even if you can't review them on your channel, check him out. Pretty sure he will make the PDC.
I absolutely adore the energy you put out. Hands down the best reaction channel on UA-cam.
Wow, thank you! I appreciate that!
Absolutely Awesome ❤️🔥
agreed!
This is a stunner!!! It confirms my respect for Cornell’s artistry. ☮️❤️
May he rest in peace Chris Cornell had a great voice and his songs greetings from Uruguay 🇺🇾❤😊✌️
you have to react to the Nora Jones cover of Black Hole Sun after Cornell passed
Indeed
When picking what covers to react to by him should try to pick his acoustic versions
Yeah, there's an acoustic version -- I wish I could remember where -- where I think there's a cello and acoustic. Its quiet and intimate and gorgeous. I think its NPR or AAA station with a few audience members.

His voice is so good ❤
I tear up every time I hear sound garden or Cornell sing....
Live....this is live! The man is a legend (RIP). All his covers are amazing, even Patience by Guns N Roses!
He is great!!
I love those band mates ..guys that follow him on his solo tour. Yogi Lonich and Pete Thorn on guitar, Corey McCormick on bass and Jason Sutter on drums
Totally different song and he nailed it of course
You're listening to one if the Best vocalist of all time doll!!❤
The Smooth Criminal cover by Alien Ant Farm is a must. The official music video has a lot of MJ references.
I will keep it in mind, thanks!
That wasn't a cover that was just a copy... they didn't make it different or their own just added more guitars and drums
@chrismalik1579 They gave it more of a grunge/rock feel. And a cover song just means that it was previously recorded by someone else. Cover doesn't imply changes have been made.

If you liked that one at all you'll love his cover of Nothing Compares 2 U live Sirius. It's just stunning and gorgeous.
Dang it, what a legend, what a talent, RIP Chris
RIP to two of the top singers Chris and Chester
You should definitely react to say hello to heaven or hunger strike by temple of the dog
How have I never known this was a thing? :o dear god
I like this version better than the original "Billie Jean".
Thanks for that. I already knew Chris was good, until I saw this 🙏
He took Michael's pop version and made it real and angry. False accusations need to be met with anger. That man felt it like he had experienced it personally.

I suspect the word you were looking for is "homage" the word that best defines this wonderful performance
Check out his covers of " nothing compares to you " and especially "she's got a ticket to ride"!!!

This isn't the good cover you gotta find the one where he is sitting on a dark stage that is the best one
Elvis doesn't compare to Chris! He brought true blues in a grudge era!
