YALL. PLEASE do him singing "when I'm down" live at the Troubadour. It's like almost a jazz style. It's incredible. He goes to another place you'd never expect and nails it.
Chris Cornell also sang a cover of Metallica's song "One" while playing the band U2's song "One" on the guitar. Very unique cover. You should check it out.
That is one of my favorite covers. It is so good. He was so freaking talented. I watched it for the first time right after he died. I broke down and sobbed. I still can't watch it without crying.
I have always liked Soundgarden, but I have never heard Chris Cornell's acoustic work before. His phrasing is amazing, as his range. I was so sad when he passed away.
Chris Cornell was definitely a generational talent. Was lucky enough to see Soundgarden three times between '92 (& '96) and 2013 when got back together for their last LP. All those years of Grunge singing hadn't affected his voice as much one would think and he still had that absolutely amazing soul and range. RIP brother
I miss Chris so much. I'm so glad y'all appreciate him as much as we do. I was lucky enough to see him several times and I cherish those memories. Thank you for appreciating what a raw talent he truly was.
Chris has some of the best covers you can find of some legendary songs. His cover of Led Zepplin, Thank You. Dare I say I like it better than the original. I was never a fan of MJ's Billie Jean but this rendition gave a whole new vibe and meaning to me. What an epic and haunting performance
RIP Chris Cornell, check out his cover of Bob Marley's "redemption song" he sings with his daughter, beautifully heartbreaking also his cover of Led Zeppelin's "thank you"
Thank you guys and to you Lex this is why I wanted you to listen to this masterpiece. The audio is clearer and more refined in the studio cover. Chris Cornell's voice got more better with age. He did a cover of Prince's Nothing compares to you and a soundtrack for one of the James Bond movies called You know my name. We miss this man so much. Rest in peace 🙏
We all love Chris Cornell's voice. Years ago I heard a band called Big Wreck. Ian Thornley's voice has some of those amazing qualities, too. Love Big Wreck.
The last time his voice was heard alive was just miles from me here in Detroit...like Kurt Cobain, when he covers your song, he owns it. But music never dies
Hey guys, love you’re digging Chris, billie jeans a great cover my personal favourite is nothing compares to you the prince song that sinead O’Connor did, Chris brings his own bluesy touch to it. Maybe as a random play you could try Skunk Anansie ‘Weak’ or ‘Charity’ I think you’d like it, keep it up guys I like your thoughts:)
Had the pleasure of seeing him do this in person in LA, at a very intimate venue and it was amazing. I highly recommend you listen to it again off the actual production version. And when you're really ready to go down the Chris Cornell rabbit-hole, try listening to anything off his solo project, Scream. Produced by Timberland.
Love me some Chris Cornell. Was one of my brother's favorite artists, and he took his own life a couple years before Chris. Hit me hard. Thanks for reviewing- feel like y'all are a few videos away from finding Blue October
The secret to him making this song his own besides his voice, was that the original song is in a 4/4 beat and he slowed it down to a 4/8. So it is more somber and emotional.
You did it!! WOW~this never gets old. His voice is AMAZING!! He also does a cover of Led Zeppelin's Thank You than its great (live on the Howard Stern Show) and he also does Ave Maria that is unbelievable!!
He made the best Bond song ever - the lyrics simply nails the essence of the Bond character and his voice expresses the tuff life of being an agent: "You know my name"
You should check out CC's mash-up of Metallica's "One" with U2's song "One". Great reaction. Edit: or listen to "The Keeper" from the soungtrack to the movie Machine Gun Preacher. Great lyrics.
Check out the album Chris Cornell made with Timbaland. “Part Of Me,” “Time,” and “Scream” are excellent starting points. It’s a different side of Chris.
He would've been 90 with his iconic sound but yet such a different style I believed his best album that he's been involved with was higher truth cause he started to make his super emotional and was working with it way better than he ever did I feel he was truly starting to find his truest style
We all wish we could've heard Chris' grandpa voice
That comment got me in the heart strings too.
....again😔
I haven't watched the video yet but I looked at the comment and I don't understand. Who's Chris's Grandpa?
Yep 😪
My tears welled when she said that. Me too Lex...me too.
Chris Cornell's voice is incomparable. And this cover of "Billie Jean" is gorgeous.

I asked them to do that one. His range is insane during that performance.

Insane. Only chris can make an audience interrupt a song with applause
Love his voice. Such emotion to the lyrics.

That voice could be singing a butter commercial, and I would still listen entranced. 🕯❤
I miss Chris so much. I'm so glad y'all appreciate him as much as we do. I was lucky enough to see him several times and I cherish those memories. Thank you for appreciating what a raw talent he truly was.
I am SO SO SO thrilled y’all are getting into him!!
If I heard this version first I would not like it but i heard different version of Chris Cornell and I loved it. Life-long MJ fan here.
Chris has some of the best covers you can find of some legendary songs. His cover of Led Zepplin, Thank You. Dare I say I like it better than the original. I was never a fan of MJ's Billie Jean but this rendition gave a whole new vibe and meaning to me. What an epic and haunting performance

My buddy saw him in Detroit his final show... And if was magical. Why heroin why. You got the 70s rockers still alive after kilos of snow.
Check out Cornell's version of "nothing compares to u" the live Sirius version. Vocals are amazing!!
The voice of his generation...the guy could sing recipe cards and bring the house down. RIP Chris, thanks for the music and the memories.
His cover of John Lennon‘s “Imagine” live on the Howard Stern show is fantastic.
Y'all have to check out his cover of "nothing compares 2 u" from Prince
He understood this is a blues song that MJ put to a pop song, but the vibe and lyrics are soul crushing….so he made it that. ❤️
I saw Chris unplugged in Allentown, PA and he was incredible. Miss him terribly. He was a music pioneer.
Best voice ever!!! Gotta do his cover of nothing compares to u... if u haven't already
Thank you guys and to you Lex this is why I wanted you to listen to this masterpiece. The audio is clearer and more refined in the studio cover. Chris Cornell's voice got more better with age. Chris Cornell had such an amazing voice. RIP Chris
I'm with Lex, we would all have loved for Chris Cornell to live to a ripe old age so we could adore his matured Grandpa Vocals. Rest in Peace.
"Sunshower" is another amazing song by him. It's beautiful and really showcases his vocal talents.
Bless you for hearing more of Chris.

You two are so freaking cute together. Thanks for listening to the music that I love and for keeping open minds.
Very few times do you see a cover hit harder than the original...
THIS is one of THOSE!
The last time his voice was heard alive was just miles from me here in Detroit...like Kurt Cobain, when he covers your song, he owns it. But music never dies

Chris Cornell done a great job at bringing out the lyrics of this song, pretty haunting stuff
Chris Cornell - Scream - live at Tv2 in Copenhagen is amazing too!!
As a lover of every type of music, no one compares to the voice of Cornell in my opinion. Man he was good, love his covers
That voice……god It still hurts.
Such an amazing talent gone too soon 😢
Jfc, he killed that, as he’s known too
You know it's Damn good when that many people are silent.
R.I.P. Chris

Perfection! He was such a beautiful soul inside and out 🖤 Rest in Paradise, King
Wonder where Chris was mentally during this performance. One of the best voices hands down.
Too bad you guys didn't do his version of "Nothing Compares 2 U". It is so much better.
So much!
The secret to him making this song his own besides his voice, was that the original song is in a 4/4 beat and he slowed it down to a 4/8. So it is more somber and emotional.
Agree with those suggesting "nothing compares to you" and also his cover of Guns n Roses patience.

I have to admit that it wasn't until he went solo and acoustic that I became an absolute fan of Chris.
Miss You Chris… Everyday… 😪🎸🎼🎤
I saw him doing an utterly captivating and enthralling acoustic version of black hole sun live once in Brussels. It was just soooo powerful!!!
I saw him the last time he came to Argentina, damn man, he was fucking insaaaaneee, legendary voice
First time hearing this! First, he's giving me Neil Young vibes. Second, love that his version really puts the lyrics forward.
Agreed...to both!
Believe me, we all would have loved to hear his grandpa voice. I can’t imagine what his kids are going through. 😭
This man sang Billie Jean like he was actually being Billie Jean'd that's an 18-year sentence when it's not your deed & you gotta pay the price.
Pretty genius rendition! Thx!
RIP Chris, i am so sad the one and only time i got to see you play live was the Kansas City Show ......right before the end, now i am going to cry
Y'all need to show David Cook singing this on American Idol, which he won.
Every time I see another Chris Cornell - Billie Jean reaction video, I click the video, click "Like," then watch the video.
You have react to his version of Prince’s, Nothing Compares to You! Mind blowing!
His version of Nothing Compares to You is crazy good!
