I love this song so much. Chris was a special soul with a talent that only comes once in a generation. If you love Chris's voice, and Eddie Vedder's, they did a great song together called Hunger Strike under the band name Temple of the Dog. Great tune with some poignant lyrics.
One of the greatest song writers to live. RIP Chris Cornell. There will never be another one like you. 😢🙏😢 To me his voice is full of lived pain and anguish.
This a a song from Soundgarden (he was lead vocalist) and one of my favorites of his. He sounds great here; but, the recorded version is very haunting.
Here comes the avalanche of requests for Chris Cornell's version of "Nothing Compares to You" an amazing Prince cover. I weep for you and am grateful for you at the same time. You are amazing! May your channel grow and grow. Health, wealth, and happiness to you an yours. TY for all your great works.
Wow, I think of myself as a Soundgarden lover, but I haven't heard a solo, acoustic version of Black Hole Sun. Love it... though the "radio" / grunge version hits me harder. Always appreciate his unique voice! Thank you, Britt! 👏💯
this song has a very personal and powerful meaning in my life. i was 18 years old, under the influence of multiple illegal substances, and this song came on the radio, and the effect of this song on my drug addled mind, and the effect the substances had on my body combined to make me realize i had a problem. this song was the first step in a long, painful, and enlightening journey that has led to 21 years of sobriety
Chris's vocals are amazing, you can hear them from his bands Soundgarden and Audioslave. He also collaborated with the members of Pearl Jam with a band called Temple of the Dog, and he also had an amazing solo career. RIP Chris.
There's a live version of a song called "when I'm down" floating around UA-cam that I recommend if you can find it. It's off his solo album and it's full of soul
Chris Cornell was an amazing voice. If you want to hear another of his covers that can show his range, I'd recommend his cover of Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean." He transforms the whole song into his own creation, it feels to me, anyway.
For many years I believe he wore his depression on his sleeve and it communicated to us through his guitar. I have no idea if his family and friends (professionals) tried to help him? I'm also guessing that his music did help him, to a certain degree. Anyway, he was a huge talent. Check out a song he wrote for a friend who committed suicide (ironic, as it turns out) called Say Hello to Heaven... it might even bring a tear to your eye. You will definitely feel emotional.
"The Image of the Black Hole represents the dark hole going down the barrel of a gun. The Sun is the Bright Flash of Redish-White Light that comes out of that darkness when the weapon is discharged. The BLACK HOLE SUN is really a metaphoric Image of the Bullet leaving the barrel of a gun to end his mental pains and depression."
You can't go down the Chris Cornell rabbit hole without hearing: Like a Stone, Nothing Compares 2U (Prince Cover), Billie Jean (MJ Cover), Hunger Strike, Be Yourself, and Show Me How to Live... Chris was part of three different groups: The 90's grunge band Soundgarden (When this song was written), a supergroup called Audioslave (With the band members from Rage Against the Machine), and Temple of the Dog (Another supergroup with former and future members of Pearl Jam)...IMHO Chris was the greatest rock voice of the millennial generation (People who grew up in the 90's-00's)...
More Chris Cornell Britt, an all time great rock voice. Accoustic Billie Jean ,nothing compares to you, imagine, scream, also Audioslave Like a Stone, I am the Highway. You’ll be awestruck!
So happy that you hear Chris Cornells voice for the awesome beauty that effortlessly flows from his mouth and heart!!!! No one else will ever come close to his gift!!
I was at his second to last show with Soundgarden. He died after playing in Detroit two days later. I had seen him at least 6 times, 3 with Soundgarden, once with Audioslave(Best concert in my life), once solo with a band and once solo acoustic just like this. He was the greatest of all rock voices. Try out "Show Me How To Live" by Audioslave, "Outshined" and "Blow Up The Outside World" by Soundgarden, "Sunshower" and "Can't Change Me" from his solo work. I'm headed to do all that now. Have the day you deserve.
Every once in a great while, God places extremely special people on the planet to speak to the masses in ways we never thought possible. Chris was one of those people. His voice is legendary and will live on much longer than any of us. Unfortunately, those special people, all too often, live short lives. Lucky for us, they were here long enough to impact our lives and to help us to grow. Chris did the job he was sent here to do and I'm forever grateful he's been a part of my life for so many years
Would definitely check out the studio recording of Like A Stone by Audioslave (he sings lead vocals). I don't usually gravitate towards them but it's a perfect song
🎼🎼🔥🎼🎼 .. here is one of the best Rock voices ever. He was the front man of 2 amazing bands, until his sad end to suicide. I loved his songs , including this gem, so much. A other exceptional artist gone too soon. Try .. "Like A Stone" .. you will really experience his voice. Great choice here Britt ⛓️🧡⛓️
Fell onBlack Days, The day I tried to Live....just so many great songs.....also He did the Bond tune for Casino Royale which was surprisingly outstanding.
The sun is a star. All stars are destined to eventually supernova and create a black hole that will devour the solar system. Chris was heavily burdened and it eventually overcame him. Much akin to a star going supernova.
You need to see the official video from Soundgarden which was his earlier band. You will really get some of the intensity of Chris as well as the band plus the meaning......at least in this video.
RIP to one of the best voices ever,.and you have multiple bands and a solo cover to dive into.....yes he is that good. Soundgarden, Audioslave and the cover of Prince written and Sinead O'Connor performed Nothing Compares 2 You. Buckle your seat belt, he's worth the rabbit hole dive to explore more of.
RIP to one of the greatest voices of the 90's and 00's! The best voice of grunge/alternative rock to me (or maybe Lane). He was the lead singer of one of the most influential bands of the 90's in Soundgarden, then had a good run later on with Audioslave. Of course his covers of Billie Jean and Nothing Compares 2 U are legendary! Have fun in this rabbit hole.
This song is (IMHO) better in the studio version, from the precise interpretation of each part, the instrumentation to compliment his voice, and the power shifts.
Chris RIP had an incredible voice. Soundgarden won Grammys in 1995 for both this song and Spoonman. Try Hunger Strike by Temple of the Dog, Chris and Eddie Vedder singing!
"Spoonman" is my favorite Soundgarden song. Chris' voice... so unique! Another incredible 90s Alternative / Grunge frontman, gone too soon. 😢 May he RiP.
@@shmamycakes yeah the Spoonman mv is awesome! Yes Chris, Kurt, Layne...RIP all, all gone too soon. Btw Miley Cyrus singing Say Hello to Heaven at Chris' memorial concert(?) is incredible if you haven't seen that.
As others have said... reacting to his covers of Prince's Nothing Compares 2 U (live @ SiriusXM), MJ's Billie Jean (live), and my Led Zeppelin's Thank You (Sweden, live almum - no video but an AMAZING tribute cover - I imagine that would be the song I'd dance to with my Beloved were I to marry) are all worth your time... not to mention his work with Soundgarden and Audioslave... Spoonman, Hunger Strike (w Pearl Jam's Eddie Veder accompanying), Like a Stone, Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart and so, so much more. He was a kind man when speaking, a tortured soul who suffered, and easily on my top 5 Staylist singers. He has a soulful twang/sl nasality and a uniqueness that resonates w me. Too short lived and too long gone. RIP CC.
I have to admit that I am a little envious of you right now! For the next few weeks you will be discovering more and more about how great Chris Cornell was. I'm sure many will ask you to react to his cover of Nothing compares to you, but I would urge you to check out his live performance of When I'm down, live at the troubadour in 2010. One of my all time favourite live performances...
His voice is simply the most pleasant voice to listen too. You must listen to his Prince cover of Nothing Compares 2 U live Sirius. One of the great performances of our lifetime. Oh and for something totally awesome watch the official video of Hunger Strike by Temple of the Dog which is a mash up of Pearl Jam and Soundgarden. Chris Cornell singing with Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam.
Say Hello to Heaven by Temple of the Dog is easily one of the best songs Chris ever sang, Temple of the Dog was a group created for one album as a tribute to Andrew Wood lead singer of Mother Love Bone. The members of Temple of the Dog was made of members Soundgarden and Pearl Jam. Another good song on the Temple of the Dog album is Hunter Strike.
So many songs to choose from. You will be doing yoursel a favor by going down this rabbit hole. One of my personal favorites is When I'm Down live at Troubadour 2010 concert.
You could try something by the band he started in: Soundgarden -- Spoonman, or Fell On Black Days, or Outshined -- Chris Cornell had serious issues with clinical depression all his life -- his plaintive hoarse voice is compelling for sure
He was part of another band called Temple Of The Dog with Eddie Veder from Pearl Jam. If you get a chance check out their Hunger Strike. Both of their voices together gives me chills. Great reaction!! 🙂
Chris is one of the great rock or any genre vocals we've had. This is an okay song, but if you really want to know why so many love him, then dig deeper.
Chris had arguably one of the most beautiful voices in recorded music history.
Along with Tim Eriksen
No argument from me. He was a one in a million.
To me his voice is full of lived pain and anguish.
I know that I am biased because his music was so much of the soundtrack of my teen years (which were...rough), but no one sings pain like Chris did.
Yup ❤😂
Also, he did an amazing acoustic cover of Billie Jean. And another one I won’t mention yet. But his Billie Jean needs to be seen/heard.
Wow, I think of myself as a Soundgarden lover, but I haven't heard a solo, acoustic version of Black Hole Sun. Love it... though the "radio" / grunge version hits me harder. Always appreciate his unique voice! Thank you, Britt! 👏💯
f that give me temple of the dog
Of course more well known as sung by Sinead.
PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE do more Chris Cornell! He's also from the grunge era with Sound Garden!
this song has a very personal and powerful meaning in my life. i was 18 years old, under the influence of multiple illegal substances, and this song came on the radio, and the effect of this song on my drug addled mind, and the effect the substances had on my body combined to make me realize i had a problem. this song was the first step in a long, painful, and enlightening journey that has led to 21 years of sobriety
Congratulations on your sobriety and the power this music has given you to fight that good fight. 🙏
Haunting
Listen to his cover of Beatles Ticket to ride.... He does something at the end which is beyond astounding
You should hear the full rock version
I miss him and his voice. He was a poet with his lyrics and his music. The song is great because it can mean a lot to many.
Chris Cornell’s acoustic version of “Like a Stone” is a must listen.
The unplugged in Sweden version is from an other world (the rest of the set too).
@@TheTrequarista Yes! That’s the one. Thank you.
"When I'm down" is one of my all time favorites from Cornell.
Soul. His voice had soul. Something very rare these days to hear.
Billie Jean
I know I’m a bit late to the party but his cover of MJ’s Billy Jean is the best cover of a song I’ve ever heard.. check it out
Cochise by Audioslave…….Chris Cornell lead singer
Do chris Cornell “when I’m down” live, or “like a stone” AOL acoustic.
Chris's vocals are amazing, you can hear them from his bands Soundgarden and Audioslave. He also collaborated with the members of Pearl Jam with a band called Temple of the Dog, and he also had an amazing solo career. RIP Chris.
His duet with Eddie Vedder on “Hunger Strike” is perfection
R.I.P Chris Cornell. 😔😔😔
One of my favorites from him is -Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart.
His version of “nothing compares to u” will put him in the panty droppers club in the first to sentences.
Nice choice OR Hunger Strike from Temple of the Dog with another panty dropper member Eddie.
For cover i prefer Billie jean personnaly
I think it is penny droppers club, not panty :)
That is hilarious but true
Definitely check out his cover of
Nothing Compares To You
Came here just to say that!
He is one of the best vocalists of all time. RIP Chris 😔
There's a live version of a song called "when I'm down" floating around UA-cam that I recommend if you can find it. It's off his solo album and it's full of soul

Listen to Chris Cornell from the bands: Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, & Audioslave. Chris Cornell was/is the best!
One of the greatest singers of all time.
Chris Cornell's cover of Billie Jean made me fall in love with the song again
He put an emotion to the song that fit far better than MJ's up-beat version did
You are correct, no one sings like Cornell
For many years I believe he wore his depression on his sleeve and it communicated to us through his guitar. I have no idea if his family and friends (professionals) tried to help him? My God,he is so deeply missed. And so beloved, legendary, and perfect in every way. Please react to "Like a Stone". The lyrics so reflect his end.
Love Chris Cornell! Tons of great songs! Do them all!
So happy that you hear Chris Cornells voice for the awesome beauty that effortlessly flows from his mouth and heart!!!! No one else will ever come close to his gift!!
I will also suggest Say Hello To Heaven when he was with Temple of the Dog. His voice was unreal back then.

Britt. You’ve got to go down the Chris Cornell rabbit hole. He has so many great songs and he is dearly missed. RIP, Chris.
Chris is on the top 3 best rock vocalists of all time
I've always felt like he felt his pain through music and voice. It can be very therapeutic to a point. RIP Chris. 💖🦋
Loved her reaction to this. So spot on.
No one does sing like you anymore . RIP Chris.
✨”Fell on Black Days” by him and his band Soundgarden!!! Chris is an amazing, EMOTIONAL, beautiful singer!!!✨
Chris was “ The Voice” and an all around incredible musician.
Chris Cornell is and has been my favorite singer for a very long time. I was into soundgarden as a teenager, but I totally loved Audio Slave
Please go down the chrs Cornell rabbit hole ! One of musics greatest voices and talent .
Chris’s lyrics were always so deep and beautiful, could listen to it on repeat
I feel like Chris is expressing his disgust with all of society, with hope of pursuit of something better
Please keep reacting to Chris. Much love

Yes yes yes nothing compares to you
The black hole in our core, but souls are positive. Ill love every word he sings. I know his agenda for me s a listener.
Chris is an absolute legend. Miss him so much.
RIP Chris, best ever. Check out him live on AOL. The Billy Jean cover or Nothing Compares to You
Britt, you must witness Chris cover Prince’s “Nothing Compares to You” and, Michael Jackson’s “Billy Jean”
"Nothing Compares 2 U" was first covered by Sinead O'Connor, her version is stunning!!! Just an fyi... 😁
Rip goat.
He was the greatest, u should react to him more.

While I do agree that the studio version is better, this Live performance had something more raw & emotional, in it, which I also appreciate :)

This was a restrained performance by Chris , doesn’t show the power and passion in his voice
