You should definitely check out the [Live @ SiriusXM] | version of Nothing Compares 2 U. The audio is so much better and the performance is much more intimate. Chris really pours his heart & soul into the Sirius version and you can feel every note he sings.
Absolutely Agree. I appreciate his live crowd work... his live cover of A Day in the Life when he turns his single acoustic into the dissonance that the Beatles sounded with two takes of a half orchestra... and also Thank You (in Sweden, Led Zep cover that makes the original pale are amazing... but that small studio session is damn special.
No. It became Sinead O Connor's song. Her version is the absolute best. Love Cornell but he tried to hard here. Didn't keep it simple enough and I noped out about 20 secs in.
Please don't think Chris Cornell is just a cover artist. He not only was the lead singer for two legendary bands, Soundgarden and Audioslave, he wrote or co-wrote most of the songs.
Chris was the perfect artist. He could sing others songs. But his songs were great. They came in a shit time for rock music but I think now they are even greater
It’s hard to go wrong with the late, great Chris Cornell. RIP. For a varied mix of his work, there’s the classic Black Hole Sun when he fronted Soundgarden; Like a Stone when he was with Audioslave; and a combo deal of him and Eddie Vedder as Temple of the Dog and listen to their song named Hunger Strike.
Chris Cornell is a once in a generation kind of voice. His presence in the music world is greatly missed. Please check out some more Chris Cornell, you won't be disappointed
Prince wrote this beautiful song. You should check out his version. His estate released an official video that they set to early rehearsals of him and The Revolution. There are also great live versions that he has done.
If you were not aware Chris Cornell was the singer for Soundgarden and Audioslave as well as obviously doing solo stuff tremendous loss miss him tremendously rest in peace buddy you should check out his version of John Lennon's imagine
RIP Sinaid O’Connor 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 RIP Prince 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 RIP Chris Cornell 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 Prince wrote it for a band that he created that he was producing called The Family, who had a hit with this first in the 80’s. Then Sinaid O’Conner covered it and also had a hit with it. If you want to hear Prince’s version it is on the album called “Prince Originals” , which is a post humus release of some of his demos that he wrote for other artists. Plus Prince often sang this in his live concerts…
I think you articulated it quite well. Conflicted is definitely a part of his emotional singing aspect for sure. This guy had an amazing range and I do believe he was one of the greatest singers of our generation eneration. He's got tons of incredible original stuff including from this same live concert. But I would say from this same live concert, you absolutely have to hear his cover of John Lennon's imagine. It's just incredible and I believe that it closes this show.
Britt, The instrument is a Cello and that is Brian Gibson who is playing it. I have seen Chris twice doing his solo career and just like the video its just Chris and Brain Gibson playing the Cello as accompaniment and he sings all of his songs that are rearranged for this type of unplugged version and its was the best show I have ever been to. This was about 4 years before he passed when he was doing his last solo tours before the got back together with Soundgarden. Love the reaction.
So sad that he's not with us anymore, he was such an amazing treasure to the music world. He will always be missed. I'm glad we live in an Era where we can come to watch him perform (UA-cam) and re-live some of his performances. RIP Chris you're missed.
Prince is the originator. He wrote it but it was Sinead O"Connor who made it famous to the world with her version. Chris has always had a mystique about him and I think it's due to his long battle with depression. He and the rest of the Grunge bunch used to hang out in Olympia,Washington, where I'm from, and they were just guys. They'd play in the warehouse in an alleyway there aand we'd all gather to listen. He was sort of quiet even then, and would wall himself up wherever he was living at the time. Depression can do that to you.
I get you on his voice, Britt! To my ears, his voice makes me think of warm honey, whiskey with a salted rim. He was one hell of a drink. Has he been added to the PDC's yet? We need to get a list. I'm curious to learn "your type," if only to get an even better idea of your taste for better introduction of a new artist.
I love listening to how people describe Chris and his voice. It's all the words I can never find since I was 18 years old back in the late '80s and was introduced to Soundgarden. This was written by Prince originally and licensed to Sinead. That was a cello solo. I believe the cello to be tuned to the heart.
Originator is PRINCE Sinbad O'Connor made it an international hit. Prince let her run with it because it was so good. FYI there is an even better version by Chris in a studio.
Chris at his best. His acoustic sessions are next level. Check out MJ's Billie Jean that Chris does. Such a talent gone way to soon. RIP Chris. You are missed. Written by Prince Sinead O'Conner bought this song to the world in the early 90's. May she rest in peace. She passed away earlier this year. And of course so is Prince no longer with bus. Even my reference to MJ's, Billie Jean, as MJ is also not with us any more. So these great artists are no longer with us. Troubled souls. That is so tragic. Proves than money doesn't make you truly happy. May they all have found their peace.
Prince wrote this song. I had the pleasure of seeing Chris Cornell perform live. He did a one man show and he did 3 hours. At the time it seemed like he was in a good place in his life. RIP Christ Cornell.
Chris was a gorgeous soul and voice who fought w and wrote w his demons, but was so damn kind and so caring when he did covers of others music. Top of my Staylist. Miss that man.
Sound garden, Audioslave, temple of the dog, doesn't matter he was the vocalist of the 90s. Greatest of the 90s. He gave us all the classics and the voice to top it off. Thank you Chris for your gift that you gave us all. We are forever grateful.
Really hard to listen to this song, knowing that they’re all gone. Prince, Sinead and Chris. Prince writing this beautiful song. Sinead gave it commercial success but Chris gave it light, gave it pain and gave it just a little soul. RIP y’all ❤️
I find it interesting that you normally react to different versions of the song that most reactors use. Check out the Sirius XFM version of this same song, it's Chris with a cello and another acoustic guitar. It somehow makes me way more emotional, even more than Sinead's version which is saying a lot
Just started to listen to your channel today... saw this and a couple more of your reactions to Chris and also Pearl Jam... would love to see you react to "Hunger Strike" by Temple of the Dog... Cornell and Vedder share vocal duties on that one... another classic!
LOL...I'm with you on bass vs cello...a tip I was given and I'm not even sure it is correct. B in Bass means BIG C in Cello is for Can Carry. There is a difference in their tuning the bass is the lower of the two...The Dead South is a Bluegrass..ish band that uses a Cello as their bass line... "Honey You", "The Recap", "In Hell I'll Be In Good Company "
Funnily enough this isn’t even his best performance of this song. Check out the seriousFM live performance of this song. It will damn near make you cry 😢
React to his bands. Soundgarden - Rusty Cage, Jesus Christ Pose, Fell on Black Days, Spoonman, Black Hole Sun. Audioslave - Cochise. Temple of the Dog - Say Hello to Heaven, Hunger Strike. He's not a cover artist he's arguably the greatest hard rock vocalist of all time and is the main song writer and lead singer of one of the the big 4 90's Seattle grunge bands (Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, and Pearl Jam).
This song started out as just a love song to Wendy’s sister Susanna, and now I think it may be cursed because everybody who wrote it and covered it is dead.

Make it a 3rd! Sirius version is outstanding!
She even have it in the thumbnail
This is Prince’s song. And yes that solo was the cello. The bass is much bigger and is played while standing. 😊
No. It became Sinead O Connor's song. Her version is the absolute best.
Love Cornell but he tried to hard here. Didn't keep it simple enough and I noped out about 20 secs in.
the cello player went a little overboard, didn't fit the tone of the song
Please don't think Chris Cornell is just a cover artist. He not only was the lead singer for two legendary bands, Soundgarden and Audioslave, he wrote or co-wrote most of the songs.
That is so cool! Thanks for letting me know!
Let's not forget he was also in the band temple of the dog as well
@@brittreactshe's not lying, Chris Cornell laid down amazing vocals in both those bands
Chris was the perfect artist. He could sing others songs. But his songs were great. They came in a shit time for rock music but I think now they are even greater
Chris Cornell is a treasure. You HAVE to do more!!
I will keep that in mind!!
@@brittreacts His last single before his death is breathtaking. The Promise. The video is unforgettable. Have tissues handy.

Prince wrote this song. Sinéad O'Connor made it famous. Chris has a live studio version of this with great audio and no crowd noise.
I think you articulated it quite well. Conflicted is definitely a part of his emotional singing aspect for sure. He may have had the best rock voice that I've ever heard
Rest in sweet peace, Chris...thank you for the wonderful music...I guess you felt it was time to go and ...respect!

"Come On" by Oktaf Kanis for the next reaction :)
My favourite male vocalist. I miss him.

Such a beautiful man. Miss you Chris.
Next - Audioslave: Like a Slave (have lyrics ready)
Chris rose to fame as lead singer of the grunge band Soundgarden. he was also lead singer of Audioslave. Quite different from his solo work
I get you on his voice, Britt! To my ears, his voice makes me think of warm honey, whiskey with a salted rim. He was one hell of a drink. Has he been added to the PDC's yet? We need to get a list. I think convicted is a great word for that, right on.
Chris Cornell has one of the greatest voices of all time there is so much music he left behind you try to get to hear ❤
Rest in peace, Chris Cornell 😢

FYI there is an even better version by Chris in a studio.
Thanks for letting me know!
There's an in-studio version that is the absolute most common on here that is far and away a better live version but this wasn't bad
Sirius Radio version. Locked into my fav folders for Music > Cornell
Yep, pure gold! I've finally subscribed due to this artist. Thanks for the reaction.

I've always described his voice as velvet sandpaper
that is a fantastic description! man, I miss that man's voice.
Sooooo soulful ❤️🔥
An iconic, 4-Octave voice and a beautiful soul...he was gone too soon and is greatly missed.
Chris Cornell…top 5 vocalist all time!
Written by Prince, recorded by Sinead O'Conner in early 80's. Covered by many.
We lost a GOOD-UN with Chris' passing...you are missed my brother.
Britt, you need to react Come On by Oktaf Kanis 🙌🏻
Written and performed by Prince,, for Sinead O'Connor.
My favorite version of this song. Great reaction!! 🙂
Now please do Chris Cornell cover of Billie Jean yes Billie Jean😊
She has
Prince wrote this song and you really should if you can react to him . My beautiful Prince RIP
In his younger years, his voice was incomparable. Check out him in Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog and earlier Audioslave days.

Another great song from the Prince himself

Written by Prince.

AS MANY HAVE POINTED OUT, THIS WAS ORIGINALLY PRINCE'S SONG!!!
💜💜💜
One of the greatest artists of all time wrote this song. The one and only Prince. Check it out if you get the chance!
😢 we have lost so many legends
Prince wrote the song.
You should listen to Golden Earring's 'Radar Love'.... Studio or live. Cheers!
Prince version will always be my favorite just because i am such a huge fan but this is fanstastic!

This song was written by Prince
This was arrainged so well. All of the strings complemented Chris’ voice.
Nah. Over emotive trash here. Sinead owns this song.
Funnily enough this isn’t even his best performance of this song. Check out the seriousFM live performance of this song.

Prince wrote the song and his version will always be the best!!
Let’s check out Chris Cornell doing ‘say hello to heaven’
I will keep it in mind, thanks!
Prince, Prince wrote this song. Prince wrote this and gave it to Sinead
the thumbnail is from the other live version... the viral one.
This song started out as just a love song to Wendy’s sister Susanna, and now I think it may be cursed because everybody who wrote it and covered it is dead.
Ooh you should definitely react to Beyond the wheel by Soundgarden live in Germany
I will keep it in mind, thanks!
Prince wrote and was the first to sing this song.
Prince wrote that tune.
You should really check out Chris Cornell's other side. I suggest Cochise - Audsioslave.
Prince wrote it for O'Connor
Prince wrote the song for Sinead. he wrote many more songs for others. he was so talented MJ had nothing on him.
Cellos....suggest Apocolyptica. Also, CMTs women of country music.
.
Not for cellos, just in genereal.
You won't see much greater darl. He was the Roman God Mercury with songs
You should react to Prince Empty Room/Elixir live at Montreux
I will keep it in mind, thanks!

Still waiting too see if Britt will ever watch High School Confidential by Rough Trade, Britt would fall off her chair.
I will keep it in mind, thanks!

Prince write this song for Sinead O’Connor
Prince wrote it. Sinead made it famous. SH NADE
Prince wrote this song but more or less gave it to Sinead because he thought it would suit her voice
Sinead video version was the best
Oh no, not the Sirius version? It's must see.
Now do the original by the family
You should've done the version from the thumbnail, its way better
