This vid is so awesome.
No pretentions of how to build, cook, and all the fancy camping gear...he does have a few.
But I love the way he takes his time to overcome a lot of challenges.
That in itself takes a lot of patience.
I've learned from vid.
Thanks for posting!!!
The previous videos had all that 😀
I had that cough and burning up, 21 days until it went. Left lung is not so good after. Hope you made full recovery. Great shelter and great effort under illness circumstances.
yes full recovery. hopefully you heal back to 100% ill pray for you!!
@@Ryanoutdoors Always 2 lighters.. + matches! I hate COLD.
Newly subscribed, Sir! You are an inspiration to any and all. Tie downs and supergluing to a tree bring a whole new approach to "shelter in place". Bravo!
Tip: Save the lint from your clothes dryer and use it to start your fire, it works a treat.
Interesting: tinder.
Lint, old candle wax and a old egg carton. We have been using these for years - works great!!
I'll make some . Thanks for the tip
you sir are an inspiration to everyone , get out there and do it.
Good job, thank you for showing us this storm ...
Yeah unfortunately I was sick as hell with covid so didn't film much of the Storm at all just a few snowflakes
There's something strangely satisfying about watching you semi fumble your way around. Keep it up, it's very entertaining, especially as we don't get weather like that here in the UK.
Yeah I'm not a professional I'm doing this for entertainment purposes if somebody learns something cool. I just want to entertain people
@@Ryanoutdoors well you've succeeded. I've subscribed.
Be sure to tell your friends 🤣
Agree, laughing along with your struggles, knowing I would be worse. New sub as I suspect it will be cool watching you improve over next couple years.
Hey Ryan, been a while hope you’re still doing ok! Just rewatching some old stuff. All the best.
Everything tastes better (or best) when camping in the cold!
I've never been camping, I certainly don't know anything about camping, I've never even seen snow but I still love watching these videos.
Thanks for watching!
Give it a try sometime! 👍🏼
I enjoyed your vid. I can see myself doing what you are doing. There’s always a first time for everything. Totally entertained. Thanks for posting. Keep it coming👍
I enjoyed watching your video Ryan! I hope you are doing well and staying healthy. I wish you peace and safety. God bless!
Thank you
i really felt i was in that shelter, starting up the fire, cooking, thanks for sharing it! :D Hope u get better!!!
I've seen folks take shovels of snow and pile it up all along the outsides of their tents, to keep the wind out. They say it helps to keep the heat in better...just saying. LIKED AND SUSCRIBED to your videos.
👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍
I should have filmed it but I did kick snow around it . Thank you for the advice though 😊
He forgot his shovel
I need a wider cot
I love your Shelter that you are making it is awesome looking so far continue to build on it you’re doing a great job this is my first video I watched of yours I’m happy I found you because this is the type of shelter that me and my son have been looking to build over the summer for winter
I am definitely going to continue building on it.
Im a big guy myself, after watching that cot kick your ass , I was wore the hell out! I have a similar cot- felt the pain, lol.
Yes it did!! I am going to get a different still soon
@@Ryanoutdoors just ask your wife. We like them with muscle and some fluff more to love and keep us warm. We also like our men to know the outdoors and to help work around the house everyday.
Blessings and keep up the great views.

I enjoy watching anyone having a great time!! Sorta like dance like nobody is watching.. Camp like nobody is watching..to your own self be true...stay safe and well..thanks for sharing..
Thanks for your support. Please check out my other videos and subscribe if you haven't already 🙏😊
Found your videos in April 2021. Am watching the one with you being sick on May 25,2021. Interested. Enjoyable. Subscribed. Get better. Stay safe and healthy.
I must have spent several months of my life looking deep into the wood burner. Years ago, it was 'permitted' to set-up in small groups of people, living closer to nature. We built hazel wood domes with tarps on top called 'benders', and built well would easily withstand a UK winter. I loved it, but by 1997, we were constantly harassed, & I had been evicted well over 50 times.
That’s so sad. 😞
The food looked amazing my kind of one pan meal 👍🏼👍🏼 hope you start feeling better, awesome video ❤️
Great Ryan !
I enjoyed the physical work and planning!
Nice explanations of going to the hardware store, general setup of the tarps, wood storage, I like it.
Great job and groovy living space, I'm looking forward to the next episode Ryan !
Best wishes from semi-cold Tasmania.
Good video to help me fall asleep
I enjoyed the video went camping a few times this brings back memories thanks take care please feel better
That jalapeno will clear out your nasal passages for sure. Nothing like hot peppers to open you up. Chicken is real good for you when you're sick. Chocolate and raspberry is a killer duo. The Olive Garden used to have cheesecake with a dark chocolate cookie crust and raspberry swirls through the cheesecake, which had white chocolate shavings stuck in to delicious whipped cream. And they discontinued it!!!
extension add on is needed. Keep the wood inside warm it up and drys it. Take off clothes layers when working so you wont sweat. You won't want to go home soon
I was sweating because I had covid. Thanks for watching
Suggestions:
1 Vertical n horizontal logs for ribbing to support more snow n make it more sturdy..every 1 foot, 1 vertical log in the middle won't cut it.
2. Carry a 1 liter hot water bottle, with a screw hard plastic lid n put it inside ur sleeping bag will keep u toasty warm at night, in the morning ud have luke warm water to fresh up n make tea or coffee.
3. Make a door log frame like a digital 8 the cover it with tarp from the outside, then frame it for ur door.
4. Carry a rv carbon monoxide detector and a mini humidity checker, AAA battery operated
5. For extra battery safety, carry a zipbag with some sawdust keep the charged batteries in the sawdust in ur sleeping bag before u lay down
Yeah it's a work in progress
Nothing like a warm bed...good luck.
I've got the same cot. It's excellent. Been my bed since September 2, 2020. That last bar is a bugger but it keeps everything in place. Great video. I'm thinking about getting a wood stove.
A. I e warm meal after all that work and cool refreshing beer with it, cozy fire/tarp shelter set up...nice
My 1st use of new equipment usually happens in the Lounge, the Garage, or the Back Garden ; not out Camping.
Made that Mistake once, very early on and learnt from it.
Great camping. Love your video. Feel better soon. 😊
As a long time fire burner, let me give you some advice, stop putting small pieces in the stove. At the point that those small pieces are burning put in larger timber and save the small stuff.
Nothing more exhausting or relaxing then Glamping Mountainhouse ELA good I’ll have to give me some of that this is so much better than watching some movie or show it’s more calming, it’s like having all the comforts of home without having the home or the responsibility be safe.
You forgot to film the winter storm. The weather you filmed is what we in Norway call a good summer day.
Unfortunately I was super sick and fell asleep during the worst pert of the Storm. Thanks for watching. This year is going to be much better Winter camping
I really like how creative you are. Two thumbs up!
That's a nice shelter. Food is looking great as well.
Good shelter and a good feed. It's all coming together and looks really cosy. Nice one Ryan
Thanks buddy. Still not completely done. I want to build some shelves etc.
@@Ryanoutdoors That would be cool. Look forward to seeing that
Looks like a complete disaster 🤪
@@garyschneider works just fine sir. May we see your shelter
You are a good dude. Thanks for posting I really enjoyed your adventure-from a guy in an apartment in a big city
Wouldn’t wanna turn up late in a snowstorm and try to put that Coleman bed up with frozen fingers🤔 Looks like your tarps were nice and tight. Not sure of the super glue idea either, with the doorway.
Fair play for your ingenuity and persistence, I love this outdoor, challenge against nature.hope you thawed out nice and warm👍
You are brave being out there and not feeling great to begin with. First time watching your channel and liked it. Enjoyed the funny comments while you were fighting with, I mean setting up the cot. Lol. Are you planning to double insulate the entire shelter? I know you did on one section. Either with wood or another tarp. If this is a place where you can keep your shelter for a while, I know you have plans to make many useful things to add to it. Will be looking forward to see what that might be. Sorry you aren’t feeling so good and likewise, I hope it doesn’t turn into something worse like you said. I subscribed and can’t wait to see what’s next. Hope you get to feeling better real soon. Thanks. ATB.
I ended up having to rebuild the shelter and am insulating it a lot better.
I bought one of those a few years ago. What a pain to set it up, I was so done with it I never brought it home after using it.
I got a lot better one now . It's a lot easier to set up. Thanks for watching if you haven't already please consider subscribing it's free
I hope we get to see some of that blizzard and snow that is headed your way. Thanks,
At least you're trying . There's a first time for everything .
Camping while sick? You're a trooper and a better man than me lol. Loved the video and subscribed about 10 minutes in. Can't wait to watch the rest
Masya Allah.
Very Good Place
Safety First
Nothing like that chicken broth and veggies to fight that cold. Good choice.
Looks like you were having fun. To get the temperature up to 58 is pretty good. Also I would of saved the oak for overnight. The hardwood burns longer.
I love the view and sound of wood burning......
Thank you. Not my greatest video please check out my other videos.
NICE !!!! Winter Storm is the BEST TIME TO GO !!! I wish I was there !!!! Don't you wish you never had to go back !!!! ??? !!!!!!!
Wow, I was just going to ask if you were in Minnesota, then I looked at your “about” and it said central Minnesota! So we are neighbors. I’m about 50 miles north of Duluth. This is the first time I’ve seen your channel and I have to subscribe! 😁👋🏻
Watching you dealing with the fire, I think that's important to put thicker logs of wood as soon as the flames get higher, a short while after the fire started, to give it force and strength it. Once the fire gets vivid, don't let the fire run down but keep adding thick logs until the fire is really burning. You must feel and follow the fire's energy.
It's a really small wood stove! Can't put big logs in it. It burned just fine and kept the shelter between 70-80 degrees with very minimal wood consumption.
@@RyanoutdoorsYes ,I saw that. You did a good job. I mean it was important to keep adding the logs you added and not wait until the fire ran down. But anyway, you had a good night and didn't freeze. That's what counts. So your doc said you had Corona and the recovery?
@@Ethaa he said I had an unknown virus in my system and that it probably was corona . So I took a test and they messed it up and wouldn't retest me. Whatever it was I had I was in pretty rough shape!
@@Ryanoutdoors I had same kind of thing at the beginning of February. Took months until I got better. Take care and let us know about your next outdoor projects.
When you set those cots up they are easier to lay them on the side and place the short end in the slot first and use the extended end as leverage to set the other slot in place.
Thank you for the advice. It's honestly been years since I have used a cot.
Yea i use mine still but its taller and bigger bei weigh 345, im down from 400 this year and dropping. But i got a heavy-duty cot for like $150.
I have the same exact cot 🤣😂 it is a pain to put up. But a good sleep 😴
I had that exact cot and it gave me wicked headaches every morning when I first woke up.
Don't lock the center joint and the end go in easy.
Great advice thanks !
I read through comments I thought Coronavirus glad you are ok now if you had it you are tough as heck in that cold ..Just subscribed thumbs up
The old wooden framed cots (40 or 50 years ago) went together so much easier than the metal framed cot you were struggling with.
Lynn Kinsman we usually cut a stick to use as a pry bar for those end bars
Wanna buy one?
Looks like a great setup mate. I’d love to do that sort of hot shelter mish, for a change from my Norma MSR tent standard adventure
Great video you must like the winter the supper looked great the camera work is great also.i like video’s where the people are down to earth .Thank .
That is 1000% good beer it tastes like grapefruit this year is the second time I've had it I did not know it comes large I must partake in getting one lol although it looks like a Friday the 13th little poster with people riding off to meet up with Jason to die in a swampy looking can with a picture of a family inside of a old school wagon very good drink I must say when I picked up the cans I literally did not want to drink it because of how the picture looked then when I cracked it open I really enjoyed it talk about don't judge a book by the cover very awesome video I like the way you took your time with everything no need to rush some of us actually enjoy this thanks for sharing
It’s looking a little chilly in there..lol. Great setup, survival skills and makeshift shelter.
The real deal here, exactly what i would be like if i attempted the same thing.Good on you
Now This Is Outdoor Living ❄️ 🤘
Thanks, I enjoy watching your video, blessings.
Thank you I appreciate you watching my video I have many more I just uploaded a nice hiking video you should check out.
@@Ryanoutdoors yes, I will check it out, ;).
The train whistle keep you company awesome
Yeah amazing how far it travels.
You got your ass kicked by your cot. But your outdoors learning and having fun. Practice and train. You will get better every time you go out.
Yeah it was a tough sob 😂 I have absolutely no formal training I've just read a lot of books and kinda been doing my own thing my whole life
@@Ryanoutdoors
Yep- you’re from Minnesota! 🤣
If you cut your bell peppers skin side it will work much easier. Also living the van life has a nice little portable table and chair. Maybe you can get one for when cutting your ingredients up. Hopefully you are feeling much better.
Yeah back to normal. I was extremely sick that video and wasn't clear headed
I think I am going to build a table
You and Steve Wallis would get along great! Step two’s especially!
Great content, hope you feel better soon, Starve a fever and feed a cold ,👍👍🙏🙏
Awesome video brother! Please make more similar! Hope Your doing great! God Bless You!
I have a few more
Cool video bud, looks like your enjoying it very much. Camt beat a overnight trip I'm the shelter.
Ryan you should have brought a snow shovel and put snow up against the tent at the bottom to keep the tarp down and snow is good insulation
Great advice
Nice very creative shelter. Hope you feel better.
I feel much better thank you that was filmed back in March yes it was kind of a monstrosity but definitely did its job. Thanks for watching
I remember that storm, I live in south St. Paul, I also used to work for EMR in Minneapolis near Washington and Lowry Ave. Good job on the vid, keep them coming.
Just subbed! I love winter camping videos and I can't wait to go this winter!!!!
Thank you, I also love winter camping and have many trips planned this winter I have a few other winter trips on my account also if you would like to check this out there or my other videos.
Nice fire Ryan, good job! ⛺️🔥🔥🔥
Enjoyed your adventure a tip though next time you cut a pepper turn it skin side down and it's easier to cut from the inside
Thank you. I am going on many more adventures.
Enjoyed your time in the woods. I would have loved to see where the snow was before you turned in for the evening. Note: you scare me with the handling and preparation of the chicken, the knife you used to cut it up and your cutting board. Sal Manila is key in the handling of chicken. Hint: cook your 🐣 chicken first in the pan. Hope you are doing well now... Ciao.
I didn't film it but I did wash everything with hot soapy water and the reason I cooked the veggies first is because I didn't want them crispy. Thanks for watching. Also the reason I didn't film the snow is because I had covid-19.
i love your camping keep it up im now a great fan xx hope your feeling better xx
Thank you for your support. Yes I am back to normal. Thank you again I've got many more amazing trips planned.
The peppers you were cutting, cut easier from the soft side down. But looks delicious.
Female and male are way different also on green peppers
I love how real this is! Definitely subscribed
Sorry you were sick but you still managed to make an interesting video so much so that it made me wish I was there enjoying the handy space you made. The only problem I see is that I think you need a four legged friend so your not alone but that’s just my opinion.
I do have a dog but with everything going on in the world right now and when it's cold he stays home
Don't see how you can stand it out there much less setting up camp while being sick! Hope you dont get really worse!
It’s Called A Hot Totty , Spicy Rum And Cider , Your Shelter Is Nice 💪🏽💪🏽🔥🔥🔥🏕🏕🌨🌨🌨🌨🌨
I really love your little hut. Makes me want to go camping.
Unfortunately I had to remove that one but I rebuilt it and made it much better 😁
I just came across your video.and enjoyed it.food looks good.made this many times.get better soon
I am much better now. Thanks
Thank you for sharing please show some more
More to come!
June is around the corner but I am just seeing this now. Hope you get the antibody test for COVID19. It was definitely here before the "official cases" were noted.
I am pretty sure I had it. I got tested but they managed to mess up my test. Thanks for your support and if you haven't already please consider subscribing. My channel is about to really ramp up
Really like your tent the way you set it up enjoyed watching your video
Thank you.. you should check out some of my other videos
You sure are brave, love the video!!please do more.
Thank you. I am filming another video today and I try to upload a new video every 2 weeks for now but plan on every week in the near future. I also plan on doing a give away when I hit 1000 subscribers
There something good about camping in the cold with a fire it just makes me have a felling that I can’t explain
Yea bro it helps to sleep
Yup agreed, the idea of no mosquitoes and flies and crawlies in winter is a big bonus
It’s the caveman coming to the fore. 👍👍👍👍
Looking good. You looked cozy in there. Dinner and dessert looked great, and I really like that lighting.
I ate with you! Pork Satay. It was delicious! Now there will be peanut and chocolate biscuits for the tea.
love that train in the far!
This is great Ryan. I call that a comfortable situation, in an ordeal-ish sort of way.:D No pretensions, just a regular good guy, pretty easy going, trial & error, don't have to be pretty if it works great. New sub. Bell on.👍
Thank you for your support! Yeah that was one heck of a trip I was sicker than a dog with covid and nothing seemed to want to cooperate but I made the best of it.
Dinner looked good, nice. Altho a couple of bites wd have sufficed, I'm gonna try it. I like watching good food and recipes bring cooked, Just not people chomping and chowing down.
Yes I have definitely evolved that part of my channel now I film a bite maybe two and then turn the camera off.
Lovely trip I enjoyed your effect but big mistake with the beginnings of a cold. I wish I could have come and help you out l definitely check out the next one thanks
Thanks for sharing man!
Ha ,ha , ye ol bic lighter , probably the most widely used fire starter on the planet , yet it gets very little too no recognition ...nice job dude
I personally wouldn’t like the cold, but that chicken and vegetables looked great, and I bet smelled scrumptious.
It was amazing.
Looks like fun. But I need hot water showers brushing teeth. Clean bathroom I couldn't do this. Well I did once in Idaho for 1 night. Not first before I shower in the motel room then drove about 30 miles to nowhere. Real dark cold creepy pl. Thought we heard Bigfoot. Talk about out in the middle of nowhere. Cold temp was 17 with light snow windy. I couldn't eat all that not with out going the bathroom. I mean we were warm wood stove but there's nothing to do out there. I mean I could get bored easy but if you like it then do it.i bought along rubber gloves to keep my hands clean. The grease on your hands from all of the food.
I always bring soap and water and hand sanitizer. Thanks for watching
I personally camp over nighters myself and always wonder when I watch these videos WHY don't these people prep their food at home so it is ready to cook at the camp site. It's amazing how well heavy duty zip lock bags don't leak while hiking.... build a fire, lite up the camp stove and just start cooking.
Because I prefer to make everything fresh and show the steps to cook an amazing meal from scratch. I understand what you are saying but this is the way I prefer to cook. Thanks for watching . Please check out my other videos 😀
When I camp, cooking in the wilderness is at least 50% of the fun and 50% of the whole point to going. Why would you want to waste half of the fun of the trip before you even leave the house?
I just found this video. Love it. I hope you were feeling better.
Thank you. I will continue to release new content every week.
And yes I am feeling back to normal. Not sure what I had but it got much worse and gone now
