The beginning feels like the start to a survival horror game
Yeah it feels like that
That's more like real life.
Or a zombie series or movie lmaooo😂😂😂
the last of us 3 is looking great
But then quickly turns into an outdoor cooking show. Was expecting some solid VW-Bus outdoor storyline, I guess.
7:59 He is the last guy on earth. surviving the most inhumane conditions. Until a random guy comes walking his dog.
Yh I thought that 😂
thats a constant relief.
He's probably in a Walmart parking lot.
Ahahah
Correction! it's a dog comes walking with his hooman.
I’ve always liked the thought of living in something small, in a cozy little thing in the middle of a blizzard in freezing temps but being warm inside my cozy little hut
Samee
You know I used to live for the whole winter for about 20 years and I never used heat at night I found it if you have four good down quilts you don't have to waste all your energy and battery power to heat a vehicle I mean you should put some water under the blanket and the dog food also cuz that'll freeze but when it goes to 40 below you'd be surprised how easy it is to survive a night with the right amount of down quilts
Why would you be curious about making enough coals to cook on it
Except people don't think about the technical difficulties that a van brings lmao like where to shit and how not to bogged when you're chilling in snow
@@yesdude3914 Its not science
This guy seems so genuinely happy and just tickled to be there that you can't help but like him.
Imagine you’re starving stranded on top of a mountain after a skiing trip and crawling through the snow, you just see this guy chilling.. eating a pizza

kinda reminds me of rdr2 when i made a camp and a random guy came and sat right next to me, crying and being depressed and he shot himself
Lol
Bro you just gave me thrills
OG G damn that was deep....
Whiskey and pizza on your own in the middle of nowhere surrounded by snow in front of a fire. Bliss.

I was homeless in my late 20s to early 30s and I survived many cold winters with just my tent. Some homeless people (or people in general) don't even have a tent or any kind of shelter during winter. This was a cool video.
Hope you're doing good now man

Thank you for doing this video - it's so nice to see that you can be successful on UA-cam with a slower, easy going filming style that doesn't constantly change camera angles every 2 seconds. Your style is relaxing, invigorating and inspiring.
Thank you so much, Tim & Shannon. Glad to have you onboard-
This was so cool!! My first time watching a video like this. Just amazing how you filmed this whole thing. I really enjoyed the aerial shots and when you were taking your after dinner walk. What is the biggest risk being up there alone?
So here I am in Australia, it's 42 degrees C, there's a drought and fires everywhere, and I'm watching some random youtube video of a guy making pizza in a snowstorm. Thanks, internet!

He said at the beginning it was the parking lot of a tourist park. And the other people probably know him.
I doubt he is stupid enough to randomly pull up on a closed park and randomly cook sausage in the wilderness in s snowstorm all alone. There are serious apex predators in the cascades. His cooking and fire are sure to attract.
From beginning when he show his porch view there is a black car parking not faraway from him
Survival in the parking lot..
You can see lights from a town or city in the background near the beginning, too.

I hope he's packing. I definitely would be.
I went through a few of those severe snow storms living in my van in colorado - It was a fun challenge.. I was set up and insulated real good , and I was able to shelter my generator and I had propane heat. So I was nice and warm, and it was fun -
It was tiring shoveling snow all night, but I enjoyed shoveling the snow . I miss the mountains and the snow sometimes. But It was getting hard to find places to park the van and sleep, and I could feel impending doom coming to the us. So I got as far away as I could.
Yay to Mom!! For the great pizza recipe, and the idea of how to cook it. You looked so happy, and so excited that it turned out so great. Mom's are good for that sort of thing!

You're not allowed to do anything in Australia anymore. They all have become insane over there. Stay away from that part of the world.
Olympia Here:
Dude! For biscuits and gravy. Fry 1 lb of seasoned sausage, remove sausage from pan and leave grease. Over heat quickly stir about 1/4 cup of flour into grease until there are few to no clumps, Do Not Let Flour Burn. Add evaporated milk into flour-sausage grease roux while stirring till you get the desired consistency. Add cooked sausage and season to taste with black pepper, salt, and a touch of red pepper. Then scoop it over biscuits. Mixes are sacrilege man!
Thanks Chad, amazing aerial views! Impressive footage. Take care dude :)

Thank you for No Music throughout....perfectly presented on how winter should be done.
Really like the stove.
Ah yes no music, much better without it. Some later with the drones. Most of the music on UA-cam seems to consist of clacking.
Yeah no music in a UA-cam video is seriously under rated. It allows my brain to connect with him more, almost like I'm there with him. UA-camrs rely on music a tad too much sometimes.
Nice adventure that you had, and also lots of character to deal with the snow storm by yourself, my respect to you. Jesse

It’s 3am here and I’m struggling with a reason to live. This guy is out in the middle of nowhere and is super happy with a pizza.
Wtf.....I’m clearly doing everything fucking wrong.
Man, i hear ya and can relate sometimes. I struggle with a reason to live also. It helps though to try and do what this guy is doing. Try to take pleasure in the simple things of life, while you try to create your own reason to exist. Anyway hope that helps for whatever it’s worth. It is a daily struggle.
You are not alone. Watching these videos really bring a sense of “what’s wrong in my life shouldn’t matter, there’s a guy out here making pizza in a winter storm!” You are not doing anything wrong, you just need to experience a change to bring you a sense of relief. As an old Canadian gold exploration geologist I have a lot of experience in winter conditions.
Vehicle wise I recommend upgrading to winter windshield wipers in these conditions as their rubber shrouded nature prevents ice build up on your wipers, making for a clearer windshield.
If you haven't done so I recommend putting chains on all 4 wheels.
Your choice of Sorel Caribou boots is excellent though I would blouse my pant bottoms into my socks or wear good gaiters. It keeps your pant legs drier in the snow.
I would use a small 24" handled ax rather than a knife and baton. You are in a truck and have no need to save the weight and an ax can do a lot more than a knife and do it faster, more safely and with less effort. Imagine if you were in real bush and not a parking lot. You would probably need to buck up a fallen tree for fire wood or for poles.
I have had to overnight in the bush in winter unexpectedly with only my field pack and ax. It is not a problem as you can make a lean to with your ax and then get a good fire going, make a bed with the spruce boughs and branches and then use your space blanket from your emergency kit.
Shovel wise, I'd go with a larger, square aluminum snow shovel. I'd keep a steel spade too but for digging harder material if needed.
Finally, I recommend clearing off all of the snow from your vehicle before you drive off. Leaving heavy snow on your roof when you drive is lazy and it can blow off suddenly at road speeds, blocking your visibility or worse, blowing onto another vehicle and blocking theirs.

So Beautiful I'm from Alabama

Thank you for sharing this beautiful experience
Nice!!! Here’s a trick I learned in the Himalayas for mountain pizza...it saves you stove time (fuel) by not having to pre-cook the ingredients. All you have to do is build it upside down! So start with the meat, then quickly add the veggies after the fat renders in the pan, then add some cheese if you’d like, then add the crust on top. Let it cook for a few minutes, then just flip that sucker over to brown the bottom. Easy as pie...or in this case, pizza.
Also, you’re in the snow! No need to cut all hunched over on the ground. Dig a small pit and use the snow you’ve dug out to build a bench on the edge of the pit. 1 foot deep pit + 1 foot bench = 2 feet of room to put you’re legs in to. Then you can comfortably lean over to the other side of the pit and use that ledge to cut, chop, do whatever.
Nice video man. Happy camping.

The reality of being out like this completely cut off from your usual daily routines and facing new unforeseen challenges is sometimes a 50/50 in terms of what your experience will be. It's a great way of living if you ease into the lifestyle, even if it's only for a weekend at a time, just getting out there and in touch with the more simplistic and perhaps primal ways of life. I used to go out camping with 2 friends far out in the woods for a weekend every month or so, and just sitting out there in good company with a fire burning for hours, enjoying some home cooked food, building up your small camp over the days etc.. it's such a nice way to relax and get some perspective on life :)
Really Daniel lol

Love the quietness when it’s snowing. It dampens all sounds and is so peaceful

Super chilled video thanks for sharing
Every day when my kid gets home from school, he asks if Chad the van guy has posted a new video 😊 he'll be happy today.
Cute
ha ha ha! I love this! Thanks for sharing. Tell him that I said to tell him hello!
Future van dweller right there ;-)

Claire you should surprise him with a Christmas camping trip. 😊
I love the feeling of being in a small comfort van and outside is snowing. It makes me feel like im protected.

Can watch your films often, and they never get old, love the adventure your living stay safe best wishes 🇺🇸🇮🇪
Thanks for watching!
How could you hate this guy? He’s living life to the fullest and in my opinion the best way possible! Wilderness, a van, just enjoying gods greatest creation Mother Nature! Can’t get any better than that!
Dude, waking up in a $50 million dollar mansion with your own private chef and indoor swimming pool and hot tub and every other amenity sounds to me like a ton better than this. I understand the romanticism but you have to be realistic as well.
@@mrmike743 that's all relative.
I hate the idea of living in a mansion where someone cooks my food and takes care of me like I'm a child. It would be nice for a short time, but I'd get bored fast. Just learn to live within your means.
@@rowmaster6894 to each his own
We should get rid of all cities like Seattle, Houston, New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Dallas, Cincinnati, etc and the country will be nothing but wilderness and small villages. Also it will be great with no suburbs
Oh, 2019. I remember the good old days.
Best days in my life that I ruined by myself
Oh yeah.
Srs
Good video. Currently watching the video where you cutting through the tree that fall into the road.
Makes me wanna do some camping like what you are doing
Ive done the van lige several times over my long life. This is the first time to actually watch the winter version of van life. Sorta. Moved to Washington for construction work. Not feeling the cold though. BUT. Its cools to see the visual affect of the like in the snow. All my past has been in Florida and AZ. Keep smiling. Maybe we'll see each other on the road. Or somewhere off the grid. Peace
shoot now i'm hungry and have an overwhelming urge to eat my dinner outside......
ha ha ha! Thanks for watching!
