Just a word of thanks. You have inspired my 12 year old son to learn knots and set up shelters during this quarantine. He's out in the field testing his newfound knowledge in the natural acreage around our property. As a result I've spent a few nights camping with him in his shelters in eyesight of the house. He cant wait to go on some real camping trips once the lockdown is lifted.

If you live in the south, particularly, I'm sure you're already familiar. However, I think it bears repeating that if you're cleaning dead leaves and debris out of an old hollowed out tree or anywhere else, you'll want to use a stick or something to move that stuff out. Dangerous, bitey things like to live in those places, too. You get tagged on the finger/hand/chest/arm/face by a rattler or a moccasin hiding in there, rain and sleep will be the least of your worries way out in the woods. Be smart, stay safe.

    Yesterday, -14 f. Today -6 f. Tonight +2 f.
And while I’ve subscribed and watch your videos darn near daily now, there’s always 1 or 2 I haven’t seen because - you know - late to the party and all, and I really appreciate the out of the box thinking and techniques I learn on how to survive different situations outdoors, I can’t help but feel for my fellow man (and or woman) who is homeless and having to endure this Siberian heat wave we are currently in the midst of. Believe me Corporal, I am praying for them. I can’t imagine being forced to endure like that by Mother Nature herself. They are, and definitely don’t have the lux we might have. I think I’m going to find someone who is and give them one of my Mr buddy heaters and a few 1 lbs .
As always Corporal, keep up the good works and thank you for doing what you do.

I remember these days well. The factory closed and we ended up living in the woods for a few weeks. Once you have done that, you realize how self sufficient you can become.Made the tent out of discarded trash bags. The hunger was the hardest part.Other than that it made for a good lesson never to be broke again.

Bugs are part of the game plan. A good many of the insects he encounters are a very healthy source of calories and protine. From birth we are programmed to dislike bugs but just like much of the fauna around you it's mostly very healthy and often tasty food source.

One of the best and underrated additions to my overnight kit is leather welding gloves like yours. They keep my hands warm, let me handle burning logs or hot cookware, and keep my hands from touching potentially dangerous/gross stuff in the woods. Thanks for all the great content and knowledge!

i have noticed all these wild camping and survival videos no one has ever said anything about where you chose for your fire , and the risks in picking your fire location can be , root fires are a big risk to woodlands ,and also compacted fine needles ,which both can course underground fires which can flare up upto 4 months later , and this should be addressed specially for people just wanting to get into the field for first time
