The best thing to do with the avene mineral spf is to put full amount quarter teaspoon of the non tinted one on first and than use the tinted one like makeup for added spf protection as an added bonus. I would never wear a quarter of a teaspoon of tinted spf on my face as it would look too cakey and greasy. I agree much better to do in layers for better coverage, hope this helps so you can use your tinted spf like a foundation especially if you want to cover white cast

Thank you for the review of these sunscreens. I have used Neova and Ella Md physical before and really liked them. I am using Colorscience right now and am loving it. I use the flex and glow together.

I am sooo glad to see these reviews. By researching others' experiences, I can keep within my budget. I am frugal, not penny-pinching, but WASTING $ is a huge pet peeves if mine. I too have extremely sensitive skin and, as I get older, even more sensitive eyes. I truly appreciate my resources nowadays. Things were different when we were growing up, right? We did not have this vast communication system among us. Thank you for keeping things very honest and respectful, even when not particularly loving a product. Keep it up !

Hi Claudia ! I like your choices of spf’s . I agree I like the ones that have a glow and a tint . The Vivier is delicious and I still like the Elta restore and Elements. When you mentioned in the beginning that suncreen is not much of an exciting or sexy skincare , I think they are totally sexy ! The beautiful formulas they’ve created these days and how they look on the skin with or workout make up is just gorgeous .. off to watch Tamara’s now .. enjoy your lovely weather

@@claudiaglows i love Josie Maran Spf 47 , not the 30 which is a different formula . It is my go to ! i also like the Elta md , but honestly josie maran is just the best for me. I use it with a drop of the tinted version and it is just so so beautiful

Hi Beautiful Claudia, what a great info. I always struggle with sunscreens. My skin is sensitive. I dont wear a lot of foundation, i do lately love my skin serum foundation from Valmont, when i go out and do some eyes makeup. ( i never wore much eye makeup before, sometimes some smudged eyeliner , for smokey eye look, but i always had hooded and deep set eyes. I did loved them before, but they got more hooded, so i need to create some illusion, well i am learning ) , Its just like skincare, but gives nice even out complexion, and it could give some coverage. It has a nice glow, but the most important its from their bee line , i had samples of Valmont Maïeutique votre visage masque . And its so amazing, the face feels like silk. The serum foundation has the same components. It wears like skincare, no creasing, but after i wash my face, the skin feels just like after the masque. And its cheaper than the masque😜
So i love to use only one sunscreen its Glow beauty Solar shade 50 . Its glowy, easy to absorb, and goes well under foundation, if i use one.
But i really love your choices i need to check it out, that bronzy one and the one before that gives nice golden and glowy look. Also its good to know the one to use after procedures. Going to try that too. And once my life gets back to normal ( beaches, travelling, when i definitely going to check the waterproof ones) Thank you and have a blessed day in Sunny Paris 🙏🧡

Hey Claudia, haven't been around for a while but this was a very timely video for me. I have such a hard time since I turned 65 trying to find a sunscreen that doesn't dry out my already dry skin. They sometimes go on all right and look pretty good in the beginning. Then later in the day I look in the mirror and lo and behold I look 80 years old! I think I'm going to try the first one that you seem to love so much.
Oh and the Helios didn't work for me either.

Hey beautiful girl wow I hate the avene both tinted and the white one I bought them and threw them both in garbage .not crazy about avene line. Like I told you before I love the vivier . I will try the tinted one I use the white one and I LOVE it.

Great video! I use Avene antirougeurs spf30. The colour is perfect & it’s a lovely product but they don’t do it as spf50. I tried la Roche posay anthelios spf50 but it’s really dark orange on me so I will try one of your suggestions. Thank you 🙏 💗

Thanks for this Claudia. I always look forward to videos on sunscreen. I always wonder how long the sunscreen’s effect lasts? I often don’t put it in right away in the morning if I’m not going out until afternoon. Then, I forget to put in on before going out the door! Is it still going to protect me if I’ve applied it hours before going out?
Hi Isabelle, that is such a good question. They do say that if we are outside, we should reapply every 2 hours. If you are just at home, that is not necessary unless you are sitting in front of a window. But I would def. try to remember to apply another layer before you head out the door. I think what you are wearing from the morning will give you some protection. but probably not as much as you want

I use the Heliocare SPF you talked about and I really like it for the antioxidant ingredients. I also use their tablets that contain fernblock and other ingredients that have been proven to be a good adjunct alongside topical SPF, have you tried them?
Hi Claire, I am happy to hear the Heliocare works for you. I do think it is an excellent product because of all the added antioxidants and I wish I could use it. I have not tried their supplements but have been very curious about them and might just have to give them a try.

Thank you for this very helpful video! So far I've been using SPF in a BB cream, but its only SPF 6 so I wanted to try something else. Do you think SPF 15 would be the minimum for the face? Best wishes for the week
Hi Agata, thank you for your kind words. I honestly do not think that SPF of 15 is enough and if I were you I would try to find one you love that has a higher protection. Now if you are just spending time indoors and you are not in front of a window, than 15 would probably be ok, but if you spend any time outside, I would try to find one with an SPF of at least 30.

So funny I also filmed a sunscreen video😉I also prefer physical or mineral Zinc Oxide or zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. My reasons are a bit different. When physicians were recommending even more sunscreen in the 80s I started to see more issues and more skin cancers. I raised a red flag with the beauty industry and the sad part it that it took until last year for them to finally pull the bad sunscreen from shelves. They found so many were in actuality causing cancers. I think if you don’t wear a wide brimmed hat along with your sunscreen, it really is not enough or in my opinion won’t matter.

Hi Gillian, thank you for your kind words. You know, in the past I avoided parabens, but having done quite a bit or research, I am no longer worried about them, especially in small quantities and in a product such as SPF, which just sits on my skin. As far as the PEG"s, they get a bad rep, but they are actually considered harmless and non irritating. I hope you are having a wonderful day

Neova has no iron ox., does this mean is not optimal if I have melasma? It would be so sad because I love the Neova sunscreen !!
Hi, I think the viver might be a bit too pink or peachy for olive skin. But. If the Neova works for you, it might just work. They are similar in tint, with the Vivier being a bit darker The Neova actually has iron oxides, I just forgot to mention it :)

What brand do you suggest for sports? Distance cycling, in hot weather so lots of sweating. Can’t have sunscreen in my eyes
Hi Karen, I really love the Neova, since it is water resistant for up to 80 min. Most are only water resistant for up to 40 min. It also never runs into my eyes and it re-applies beautifully. It is a bit pricey, but I really think it is worth it. The Elta Md is also great and much cheaper, but only water resistant for up to 40 min, however it also never runs into my eyes and re-applies really well.

I bought the heliocare one once and my skin loved it! My skin doesn't like chemical sunscreens very much and my eyes HATE so many sunscreens.
I stopped using the heliocare because I wanted something cheaper...but none of the other mineral ones that i've tried compare, so I've just ordered another two bottles!

I love the Vivier one. And it’s Canadian 🇨🇦 I like the IS clinical one too but the percentages seem soooooo low. Especially the zinc. I always feel slightly uncomfortable using it cuz I’m like how can this be an spf 50+ with such low actives 🤷🏼♂️

Hi, thank you for your kind words and for being here. Being vegan, I do try to avoid products which have been tested on animals. Not only do I think animal testing is cruel but also unnecessary. Luckily here in Europe, testing on animals is banned, but unfortunately there is talk of possibly reversing that ban.
I tried to Neova silc sheer and loved the consistency and tint but it caused my skin to itch and flake, very sad as it is a beautiful formulation.
Hi Shannon, I am sorry to hear the Neova did that to your skin. You know, living in a much dryer climate now, I do notice that it can be just a bit drying. When living in Naples, I did not notice that. Have you found another spf you like?

Loved the video! I am a little late to the party, but not too late, forgive me. I love sunscreen videos. Like you, I do not wear makeup. I have it to wear for my anniversary, Thanksgiving and Christmas, if I have to. I hate all the stuff on my eyes, but I like to buy it. Nowadays, I am just wearing a tinted sunscreen, a combo, of Paula’s Choice and Elta MD. I get a better match to my skin with the mixture. I have such trouble with sunscreen and eye makeup that is not for sensitive eyes. What a bummer to buy sunscreen and find it does not work. On the few times I wear makeup during the year, once I had to start over as the sunscreen pilled. My skin is not as glowie as yours is, nor as pretty (your skin is just perfection on my end) but I am claiming my right not to wear makeup if I don’t want to. Sunscreen is plenty for my face, but if I want to go hog wild, I will apply some blush! Tamara can get her makeup on so fast and perfect that I would wear makeup a few more times per year, if I could do that too, but it’s a PITA (pain in the ….) still. My dogs love me as I am, and so does my husband, so that is all that matters to me. Thank you for the video. I will go through the video again and pick one to buy. I have a lot of sunscreen, but you can never have too much with the amount you have to use. 🥰

You have every right not to wear makeup! It is so silly what is expected of us women and if we do not go along, we feel we are not in the right. I actually had a viewer tell me the other day "You should wear makeup". It was all she said. How silly.
Enjoy your makeup free face, as you said you husband and dogs love you and you are gorgeous, perfect skin or not.
Besides, all the time you save applying makeup can be used for much more important things.

What a shame you can’t use the Heliocare! I just checked my Amazon account and I’ve purchased it 11 times, I love it so much. I generally follow it up with the Colorescience glow for a more polished look. I like the Elta MD, too, and find it to be quite similar to the Jan Marini sunscreen: have you tried that one? 🤗

Hello claudia, i just started to follow you. Can you please suggest the best sunscreen for brown skin, i have used colorescience, which is a great sunscreen, but its very expensive for me, now I am using cerave spf 50 minral sunscreen, it leaves the white cast, I have very sensitive and rough skin.

Also as you said in the video about the heliocare one, i am using it right now just got it last week and it does sting the eyes when they are sensitive, i feel you... i have same opinion about the avene tinted it is nasty. but it is perfect when going on a trip, it has really really good hev protection.

Ich benutze auch nur mineralischen / natürlichen Sonnenschutz (überhaupt nur unbelastete Gesichtspflege mit minimalen Inhaltsstoffen wie Hydrolate und Öle). Allerdings hat mich die Sonnencreme von Beyer und Söhne interessiert (rote Farbe) für den Fall ich bräuchte einen starken Schutz nach Microneedling oder professionellen Peeling; kennst Du sie, hast Du sie mal getestet?
