I try to be in an “ attitude of Gratitude” as much as possible, because it really helps, especially when days are tough with “mum & dad”…
I’ve really learnt to “put myself first” because I didn’t fit most of my life and it really affected my health & actual life…
We have one life and I really am trying to focus on improving it day by day and trying to do the things that I love…

Great job renovating, love your kitchen sink. Night baths are my time to relax….. and decompress. I love the fun soaps and lotions, it feels like an indulgence to just lay there and enjoy some great music or watch tv.

Beautiful!!!! Well it's really funny becasue we bought a house in Kenya and have been under renovations for 4 months and 1 week!!!! (it took us a year and a half to find the house, buy it and then move in!!!) So we have been redoing the entire thing while living in it! (for me as my husband is in South Sudan, coming back every 6 weeks)... .I am telling you, when you live in the house while they are renovating, it is something else! But thank god in Africa I have a maid who could clean up the mess 6 days a week. I could not have done this without her. ... It is the first time since I am with my husband (2007) that we live in our own place.... We have properties in France and South Africa which we are also renting out, but since i was single and living in my own flat for a couple of years in the early 2000, we had never lived together "home". It is such a nice and amazing feeling to live in your own property. I never want to move ever again! (or at least I want this to be our base.)... Anyway, thanks for sharing Claudia. For a bachelor flat it was not small! However, I have no idea how I could live with such little space for clothes though! (especially if at some point you will have to share the space with your husband!
Wow, I am excited for you to have found a house in Kenia you want to live in and make your home. That sounds wonderful. But I can only imagine what it must be liking living in it, while having it renovated.
And yes, if my husband and I live here together at some point, we will need to convert the downstairs bathroom into a closet :)

Thank you for sharing your home with us. In today’s world the encouragement to take care of ourselves and stay strong and healthy is vitally important. Ways I work on self care are. Spending time in the morning reflecting on good things in my life and about myself. We are quick to condemn areas of our self, so I work on speaking good things over those areas. It helps my heart and mind to stay healthy. I work out 3 to 4 times a week and spend a lot of time with my grandkids. They make me feel and think young. I also would love to hear about skincare that is good for 60 year old skin. They taking care of it, lately has been difficult to afford to do so. Do you have ways we can do it during times that are pretty difficult. I appreciate you sharing your life , it helps when I see others pressing into the best life they can have.

I am a mum of twins with 2 jobs and have a quite busy timetable and just can confirm that selfcare is so much important to keep up your energy and to be able to cope with all stories life offers. Claudia, your new apartment is so light and airy. Great job on the remodel! My two favorite self care things are my morning meditation and then sitting on our deck overlooking a beautiful valley in the TX hill country. I use my Ziip Halo several times a week. I would love to get a red light panel but having just retired at age 65, its not in my budget at this time. I would love to be in the drawing for the lovely skin care items. Hello Claudia: So happy to see that you have settled in nicely. I have been following now for about 2 years. At 72, I learnt from you how to microneedle (such indepth instructions) - which has really taken my skin to another level. As a woman of colour who fights pigmentation, I have been using Retin A since my 30's and have now incorporated some of the skin care products which you have recommended with outstanding results. Cool apartment. I can't believe you made all those decisions in 5 days. My home needs a remodel but it is so overwhelming, I just keep it the way it is. I wouldn't even know where to start.

You guys have done such a great job. I love your home. So peaceful. My self care is meditation, my maysama gua sha and my aduro mask. I constantly preach about self care to my two kids. I think it's so important and love what you said about how you cannot give from an empty cup. So true. I've burned myself out too many times from constantly giving so I've learned that lesson the hard way. I must get back into somatics as I found that a great way to tune in to how the body is feeling and uncover hidden tensions.

I just retired after a 25 year career as a medical aesthetician and am shocked at some of the recommendations on social media. Because of your recommendations, I am learning what I can do at home to practice self care and a good skin care routine. I enjoy sitting under the near infrared light to relax and practice self-care.

Congratulations Claudia, stunning appartment! It's like a sanctuary. I love self-care, it's something I have been practising since I was in my mid teens. This was early 90s. Back then I would do things like honey masks and facial steams with camomile tea (there was not much information on skincare at the time, not like today). My mother thought I was crazy! I was not of course worried about wrinkles then but the whole process made me very happy. I found it very relaxing. I then got worried about wrinkles in my early 20s, and I quickly swiched to SPF and ditched the sun oil! I am very happy with my skin today, I am convinced that using SPF for so many years was the best thing I could have ever done. Now at 48 I am still obsessed with skincare and nutrition. I do make a lot of time for self-care. I loved what you said there, that as women we think that practising self-care is being selfish, but we cannot give from an empty cup. Such a great way of putting it and I totally agree. I have been following you for some time and your videos have been very inspirational for me. I love that you are sharing your home with us!
I really enjoyed reading your comment and learning a bit more about you! I did those things as well as a young teen, like you, not for anti aging of course, but because they were so much fun. I do wish I had been like you as far as sunscreen. I did not learn that lesson until much later.

I love your home! 😍 I love the colours and everything about it. What a good feeling the home gives. Yes, this is a wonderful pod for the soul. A true sanctuary. Totally love it! ❤ The colours are so soft and beautiful, it feels so so cozy.
And I got so excited about the infrared mat, I have exact the same! Bought it only a month and a half ago, but I have experienced it at my chiropractor's office for months prior to that. And I love my mat! It helps me so much. And here is why: I have a lot of pain, it comes from autoimmune issues, like Sjogren's syndrome, among others. Using the mat, has removed 95% of my pain, from day one. I'm so happy about what this mat does for me! I have the same size as you. The bigger one seemed too big for me, and I don't regret buying the small one.
I hardly take any medication for my pain after I started using the mat. In spite of other benefits from the mat, I'm still in awe about how much that little mat can do for my pain in just 20 minutes. I do drink a lot of water after I have used it, I noticed my urine became darker after being on the mat, even though I try to stay hydrated. (Sorry about that information, but I think that the increased blood flow in the muscles release "stuff" and that need to get flushed out.)
The mat can also help me with my mental state. I can wind up my thoughts and mind in a carousel of worries, and I calm down on this mat. The waves are so comfortable, and I stress down, stop worry (almost every time...), and feel so much better afterwards. So it is good for pain, and also mentally. I really, really recommend this mat. Since I started being on this mat at my chiropractor 10 months ago, my body and mind has improved. I think it improved even more when I got a mat here in our house and can use it when I want to, I wasn't at my chiro every day! I'm so happy you got one too, I hope you will enjoy it!
I have been considering a sauna too, but I'm a bit sensitive to heat, so I pause that idea for now. But I have you in my mind every now and then when I think about the sauna and your experiences with it, so maybe one day.... The sauna is very popular over here too, many people have one and use it. I have also looked a bit into infrared face mask, but I have not yet purchased it.

Beautiful home! I love your office. Self care is most important. I walk before and after work to relieve stress. I try to eat healthy most of the time, I enjoy cooking so it’s part of my self care. It’s just me so it’s easy for self care. As a nurse it’s very important for people to take the time for yourself because you will be a better human for it. 😊

I love self care I exercise..have an AM and PM skin routine tomorrow I will be 70 and it’s important to me to stay healthy so I can enjoy all the things with my family so I bow my head in gratitude everyday
Beautiful home, beautiful couple. I'd love any leftovers from your skincare! Hope you settle in nicely. My self care includes many of the things you mentioned. But my ONE non negotiable is my morning walk. I get to see golfers, gardens, the birds, the usual walkers and listen to great podcasts like yours! Then when I return I do some am watering, picking veggies and light weeding. Gets me my AM light, time in nature, and all before my breakfast and red light/vibration plate time. I also have a Biomat, but tend to use it in the winter as it's infrared heat with tourmaline and quartz. Not sure if it's like your PEMF Matt or not. I sauna in winter, it's triple digits here all week!

Self care for me is trying to follow a healthy diet, walking on treadmill and of course my skin care…I have done yoga for many years,however haven’t been to a class now for over a year… need to get back into it again.

@@claudiaglows It's Amethyst Ridgeway Biomat, although they don't advertise it as PEMF. It is infrared and even though I have an infrared sauna, I use it just like a heating pad. I've had a spinal fusion 40 yrs and yes, I definitely notice it helps with back pain. I even have a full length one which I use for my legs after skiing. My hubby enjoys lying on it in the evenings, but can't take it as hot as I can! I bought it after my acupuncture visits when I would go to sleep in like... seconds on it! So I guess it helps!

What a beautiful sanctuary! I love how you remodeled and lightened the apartment. I like to unwind by reading fiction or walking my dog while listening to podcasts or nonfiction. I highly recommend a walking pad. I use mine for a few minutes here and there and it really adds up. Unfortunately I don’t have as much time since going back to school to get my masters in dietetics to exercise, especially during the summer while my kids are out of school. Most days I try to either use my LED panel or mask but unfortunately my LED face mask just broke 😢. I also like to do a ZIIP treatment or some sort of lymphatic facial massage at the end of the day to help me unwind. I recently started listening to Yoga Nidra for better sleep on Insight Timer. A portable sauna or more feasibly for me, a sauna blanket, is on my wish list after I graduate! I would be grateful to receive any skincare you want to declutter. I love your new home. It looks so cozy and peaceful in there. I’m happy for you as I know being away from your husband will not be easy. I absolutely do self care. So important. I exercise everyday. I love to run which has been especially good for my head. I go to the gym every other day I also recently splurged on a small LED panel. Thank you for offering to share skin care! It can be pricey. I have so much to say, first I am so happy for you with your beautiful home, you did a great job remodeling. Self care for me means so many things, reading the bible every morning, communicating with God with thanksgiving and request of needs. Exercise, rebounding treadmill and very light weights. I am blessed to have a sauna but currently we are in a heatwave of 100+ weather so waiting for a bit before I start using it again. I do red light mask, ZIIP, NIRA pro & precision, red light helmet for hair growth, also have a Newa but have not used it for awhile, try to use my Dr Pen every 6 weeks or a TCA peel. Eat healthy mostly, I am a pescatarian. Grow most of our salad veggies inside and out so have the greens homegrown all year. Grow sprouts and microgreens, make our bread with sourdough instead of yeast. I would love to be blessed to have some of your skincare. Thank you.

❤❤❤ wonderful job with the remodel! Welcome to San Diego!!! My favorite form of self care is walking and enjoying the morning light and air before work. The very best thing about San Diego is the sea air. While it used to be cleaner than it is now, it is still soft. I know that is a weird thing to say. When i lived away from here and would visit the air is the thing I missed the most. Thank you for all you do, you have really helped me start paying attention to my skin which I entirely ignored for 50 years. LOL better late than never. If you want to meet for coffee just let me know. I work a lot but am free on the weekends 😊 best Lisa

For an air filter, I have the IQ Air health pro plus and I think it’s one of the best out there. We are very happy with it and would like to get a second. A little pricy but worth it. And for a shower I have the Sante ultimate dual kdf. Filters are such important investments. I wish you best of luck in your new sanctuary 💕

Currently the only time I get to steal for myself (2yrs old toddler in the house) is after shower sit infront of my red light therapy panel and multitask microcurrent my face while led-ing my back, then do my skin care while listening to UA-cam videos the whole time (in fact I'm listening/watching your video while doing all of the above right now). Hopefully I'll find more time for myself in the future but even this makes me happy❤

Wow! It looks like a sanctuary and so peaceful! I am sad that you and your husband are not able to be together all the time. ❤Thank you for sharing all this information. My self care is prayer walking after dinner and spending time with family and friends and continuing to work 10 months of the year at a K-8th grade school. Also, defending myself and how I am treated by co-workers or family. As a child who had grown up with some verbal and emotional as well as physical abuse and other abuse mostly from my mom…standing up and using my voice is another form of self care. ❤ Thank you for asking us to share our self care! ❤

Sam looks happy in his new spot by your work station . If one can give themselves the time for self love/care it is not selfish at all to practice it . For self care I of course practice my skin care and all it involves as well as yoga, riding my bike and walking. While practicing yoga, I like to use a diffuser with scented oils. I will have to check out the Lululemon mat. I am interested in some of your unused skincare if I am eligible. Thanks for the tour of your apartment. Your choices for the update and remodel are lovely and I am so impressed that you did that in such a short time. Love the cantilever stairs. I live in southern Ca., Orange County. I love the So cal weather. Part of my self care is to sit outside in the garden and enjoy the sound of the fountain and meditate. I also really enjoy applying skin care in the morning and at night. I find it to be very soothing.
