    I forgot to mention that Sephora's limited edition Sun Safety Kit is now available! For $39.00 you get $185.00 worth of SPFs to try. AND it supports the Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Super Cool and a special thank you to Sharon C for reminding me...I forgot to mention it in my video!

    Love drmtlgy tinted moisturizer spf44 so elegant and never pills.
    Australian gold spf 50 is great but overkill in our winters to use a waterproof sunscreen that is heck to get off. Like the cerave tinted spf 50 hjust don't like the tint.... too orange for me. But love the formulation.

    My 2 favorites are Australian Gold tinted (very affordable and serves as foundation as well!) and Coola tinted (goes on like silk, but is expensive) Most important to me, they are both CRUELTY FREE.

      Yes... Australian Gold very good too.. I always have that on hand, but in say , winter, it is a wee bit drying to my skin..and I use the Coola hydrating water mist sunscreen to refresh my sunscreen during the day as well as under artificial light as it blocks blue light damage as well as UVA/UBA

      I agree cruelty free is a must! If more people saw the painful things done to animals in the name of 'testing' they would insist in no more cruel torture of animals.

      $13.99 for 3 oz at Target beats Aveeno. It may not be the best for dry skin but for the price I won’t use anything else. Protecting ourselves from skin cancer shouldn’t be so horribly expensive like so many SPF’s are.

Occasionally I can wear it in the summer when it’s quite hit and humid. In general I do think it’s better for more normal, combo or oily skin. I love the fact it comes in different tint shades. I absolutely love your sunscreen reviews. I have specific sunscreen needs. I have to have all mineral, water resistant, 50SPF, and affordable (readily available). Currently I am layering my banana boat sensitive mineral with my Australian Gold tinted sunscreen. The banana boat sounds exactly like the Aveeno but it’s only $8.59 for 3 oz. I usually use a full 1/4 teaspoon then top it off with a small amount of the Australian Gold to take down the white cast and tackiness if I’m not wearing foundation. I also use a stippling brush to apply makes it way easier to massage in.

    I’ve tried a few this year that I thought were decent. Josie Maran Sun Milk - though it’s very, very moisturizing, and the Tula mineral one, which needs a light moisturizer underneath. If I had to choose, it would be Tula. I apply it over a moisturizing serum. A chemical sunscreen that I think is great, alone or under makeup, is the Tula Ptotect+Glow - but sadly, it has citrus oils in it, so I won’t be buying it again, and I can’t put any chemical sunscreen around my eyes - so I usually use a mineral sunscreen around my eyes and a chemical one for my face and neck.

    My dermatologist says that the SPF in foundation is adequate for when you are indoors or out and about running errands. He said that you don't need to load on additional sunscreen unless you are going to be in the direct sun for an extended period of time.

    • @TamarasTimelessBeauty
      @TamarasTimelessBeauty  2 роки тому

      Interesting! That seems very much contradictory to what my aesthetic dermatologist recommends. I suppose on a cloudy day where you are not outside you are unlikely to burn, SPF or no SPF. The foundation I have with the highest SPF is IT CC Cream with SPF 50. However, it would take 5+ pumps to get the SPF 50 which would look pretty crazy...I usually use between 1/2 pump and 1 pump...which would give me a 10 SPF at the most. Most foundations have SPF 20ish or so....the amount used would probably offer way less than a 10 SPF. For me...I do struggle with sunspots appearing on my cheeks and even a little bit of sun seems to darken them. Also, my house has huge south and east windows so I get tons of sunlight in my house. I walk my dog a couple of times a day and always seem to need to do a few errands...even when I was working full time in an office I had a 40 minute commute which gave me lots of sun exposure while driving. In the summer months...my skin does get a little bit of color even with daily SPF.
      So...my preference and recommendation is to include a good SPF into my morning skin care...I'm working too hard on treating my age spots to risk sun exposure undoing all my expensive serums, creams and treatments. Having said all that...if you don't have any specific concerns...far be it from me to disagree with what your dermatologists recommendations for you. Thank you fo sharing ❤️

      @naynay8219 2 роки тому

      I believe he was referring to skin cancer, which is why I was seeing him. I told him my foundation has SPF 40. He's a dude, so it is likely that he doesn't realize that we only put on a thin layer. I am curious if any other viewers have asked their medical dermatologist about sunscreen, and what their response has been. I am 66 and I was one of those sun bathers at the beach in California in my teens and would lay in the sun for hours while slathering on Baby Oil and Coco Butter. Now as an adult, I have had a couple little skin cancer spots on my nose. Because my derm said that the foundation was adequate, I haven't been using sunscreen (unless outside for a long time), but I probably should, especially because I live in Arizona! I just don't like it, and don't like how my foundation looks over it. My mindset is....I only have a few good years left, so what the heck! I will die before there is any noticeable damage! LOL

    • @TamarasTimelessBeauty
      @TamarasTimelessBeauty  2 роки тому

      Oh my gosh....if I lived in AZ with a history of skin cancer I would for sure wear SPF everyday. I found a super lovely Sunscreen last year....Can Make Mermaid Sun Gel. It is a Japanese hybrid (meaning it has chemical and physical screens in it). It is super light weight, applies and feels just like a moisturizer. Totally clear and makeup wears beautifully over it. Also super affordable. It comes in white and clear so if you order it make sure you get the clear. It's the sunscreen I use when I am testing foundations because it doesn't change the tint or the finish of the foundation. Here is a link if you want to check it out:

    Hi Tamara as someone with severely dry, rosacea and eczema prone skin spf is a bit of a struggle tbh. I do wear it, but really struggle with chemical spfs and many mineral spfs are so drying on my skin - it's a real battle to find something that works for me. My top 4 are:
    Skinceuticals mineral spf50 lotion (full price £42 for 50mls) - this works the best for me tbh, but it's expensive and isn't the best in humid weather. For the colder months however it is a firm favourite. I wear the untinted as I'm super pale, but it is available in a medium tinted version.
    Paula's choice calm mineral spf30 normal/dry (£32 for 60mls full price) - my staple during the cooler months or in a full rosacea flare. It never stings/burns and isn't drying on the skin. Strangely the dry skin version is more drying than the calm version on me.
    Avene mineral spf50 (full price £18 for 40mls) - similar in texture to the skinceuticals although a bit less moisturising. It holds up better than the skinceuticals in warmer weather, but isn't the best for very humid weather. I wear the untinted, but this is also available in a tinted version for a tan complexion.
    Ultrasun mineral spf50 (£26 for 50mls) - my pick for humid weather and really sticks around. It's water resistant and although not overly drying isn't anywhere near as moisturising as the others mentioned.
    Many of these are often on offer (especially the Avene) and I buy them when they are. The Avene is usually around £13 when I buy it for instance. Here in the UK mineral spf is much more difficult to find, but we have far more choice in chemical filters. If my skin is relatively calm in the Summer I can wear the Ultrasun chemical spf50+, but not when the rosacea is very active. I do use the ultrasun lip spf50 though all year round. I'm a fitzpatrick one so white cast isn't a major issue for me, unless the spf is very thick/chalky. Most of these will have a slight cast on deeper skintones I would surmise. The cetaphil, aveeno and MD solar science spf's shown are not available in the UK for info, but the Avene looks like the cetaphil on the skin and in application. Best wishes.

    I wonder about everybody’s vitamin d levels. I don’t wear spf when I stay inside or if there’s a heavy overcast, I want my body to generate vitamin d. With all the anti (sun) light hype going on, I’m so confused about fake tan and bronzer as well, why would you want to look like you have a risky lifestyle? It’s weird and nobody seems to notice .

    • @TamarasTimelessBeauty
      @TamarasTimelessBeauty  2 роки тому +4

      The conundrum about SPF vs Vitamin D is an interesting one. Living in a cold, northern climate where I am bundled up up from head to toe 7 months of the year, I absolutely must supplement with Vitamin D3 SPF or no SPF. The thing is as we age, our body's ability to produce Vitamin D decreases (like everything else). My Aunt who lives in California and doesn't wear SPF is STILL low in Vitamin D and has been prescribed supplementation. In the warmer months, I do enjoy exposing my body to sunrays in the morning before lotioning up with SPF. (they say 20 minutes should be enough for Vitamin D production)..but as far as my face, which is ALWAYS exposed...I want to protect as much as possible from cumulative damage. Even so...in the summer months, my face still does get a little color even with very diligent SPF application. As far as bronzer, fake tan...each to his own. I personally like natural skin...even so in the summer I use a little jergens glow body lotion for a little gentle color on my legs or they look fish belly white LOL.

      @@TamarasTimelessBeauty Yes, I supplement vitamin D too, I only started taking it at my mid 40ties when I started to wear heavier spf's. I'm totally aware of the necessity of wearing an spf, I only wonder if the focus should lay on wearing it all the time everywhere or if we could use some common sense. Our body's do get benefits from daylight, daylight is not the enemy (just like fat isn't in our diets ;-) ;-)
      Since wearing more spf's I don't even get the slightest color even when on holiday in southern countries. I'm a tattoo collector, and the tattoo artist's are happy too my skin stays out of the sun, it's a way better canvas like this.
      Thank YOU and Claudia for the wonderful recommendations. Claudia got me hooked on the Neova silk sheer spf (which is darn expensive, so thank you for that lol!). It's the first I actually love to use and the first that doesn't give me an ick feeling.
      I'll be heading over to Sephora France now, I need some of your makeup recommendations and we don't have a Sephora here in the Netherlands. Love love love your channel dear, you've got the greatest tips, and I adore your kindness. The world needs more people like you.

      Thank you for sharing! EltaMD makes amazing SPFs..the UV Elements was my number one SPF for years and I have included it in many videos...however the tint is just a hair too deep for my skintone so I often need to mix it. I just picked up a sample of the untinted one so excited to try that. Today's video is trying new to me SPFs that I have not talked about before. Time will tell how these fit into my SPF wardrobe. Color Science Sunforgettable original...it's super liquidy and light weight with a very slight peach tint. (this is the one I brought to India due to the travel freindly squeezy tube). And I also love the Can Make Mermaid Sun Gel which is a combo untinted SPF. My daughter loves the EltaMD UV Elements Tinted Mineral SPF...I used that one for years, but the tint is slightly too deep for my skin tone. I listen to your advice because you’re so sincere. But, I have to tell you that I bought the Aveeno and the Cetaphil sunscreens you recommended. They leave a horrible white cast! It does not fade away. I don’t like it even on my arms! I do like the higher end one. I think you do a great job. These two are a big miss.

    • @TamarasTimelessBeauty
      @TamarasTimelessBeauty  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you Isabel and I'm so sorry they didn't work for you! I tried to be clear that they do leave a white cast, the severity of which will depend a little on your skin tone. I wanted to include some super affordable products and they do work very nicely under makeup or tinted complexion products. I also find them useful for mixing in with tinted SPFs that are too deep for my skin tone (although mixing SPFs is not always recommended...sometimes it's the only way I can make a tint work for me). I have such a hard time finding a tint that isn't too warm or orange for my skin tone that lately I am finding a white case a little easier to deal with sometimes. I'm glad you found at least one that worked for you! I still use and love my top 5 from last summer, none of which leave any white cast at all so you might enjoy those as well. Here is the video from last summer: ua-cam.com/video/YVcy6Ty08w4/v-deo.html

    Light/Medium to medium skin tone with warm olive undertones. Normal to dry skin that’s over 65 years old.
    My go to sunscreen is Elta MD. There are several different types available. I use the non tinted moisturizing one that listed for Dry and post procedure Skin. Combination of mineral and chemical sunscreens.
    No pilling under makeup. Use it on my face and take it down to my neck. Depending on what shirt I’m wearing, I will use this sunscreen on my chest that would be exposed to sun.
    It comes in a 3 oz tube and costs around $24. Just depends on where you buy it.
    If my skin is extremely dry I will use Josie Maran Argan SPF 47 non tinted sunscreen. 2 oz for about $34. It is totally mineral based and will leave a white cast.

    Happy May to you. I have been wondering something about sunscreen since watching both you and Kiki-you with the 1/4 tsp but also the two finger measurement and Kiki with the former only. I know in theory 1/4 teaspoon should be just that, however, not all formulas perform the same as one another. I did a bit of an experiment measuring 1/4 tsp of the Tatcha Silk and the same with Colorescience Glow formula. The 1/4 t of Tatcha being very thin and runny, did not fully cover even half my face. By that I mean with an amount that would be significant. It spreads so thinly that I don’t really see how a 1/4 tsp would be a significant protection for a full face. On the other hand, the Colorescience Glow was much thicker and you can see for yourself as it covers your skin all over. I can imagine that an even thicker formula like the Allastin or even the Cetaphil would prove that a 1/4 tsp would be enough for face and neck. Of course, I’m not a scientist but I just can’t wrap my head around all formulas needing to be measured the same way.

    Happy May Day! I have some questions I hope you might be able to answer. (1) I wear waterproof mascara, and I travel a bit. For years, I removed this with baby oil (bad stuff!), which was convenient for travel. What is the #1 remover you recommend for travel? I took jojoba oil with me on a recent trip, and what an oily mess! Ugh! (2) I've tried both expensive and drugstore sunscreens, and all of them have made me break out. I am 66 with very dry, sensitive skin. My dermatologist (we go to the same clinic!) said she has "a number of patients who cannot wear sunscreen." I actually trust your advice more! What do you recommend? (3) Any product with petrolatum destroys my skin. What is the best body moisturizer you recommend? My skin is super super dry! (4) When I was younger, I used toner to remove all traces of the day and to restore my correct pH. I miss it, but the diluted witch hazel I use now is too drying. So is Elf's. What's your advice about toner? Thank you. You make my Sundays sunny and happy -- and so do your bloopers and your dog. Thanks again for your advice. This is a LOT!
