Just did this today, blew the same fuse trying to wrangle the longer glove box LED in. I took it as a sign, went back to stock interior for old school charm. I did end up keeping the frunk & engine bay LEDs though, the extra light is nice.

Haha, good thing I am not the only one. There was very little bending needed for it to fot perfectly through, so I do recommend changing that too. Especially if you have a black interior 👍 LED makes a huge difference 👌

Thank you, followed along with Pelican Parts LED upgrades and completed in less than 20 minutes! Looks great, didn’t know there was a bulb in the rear engine as the old one was dead!

Sweet! Nice video. I’ve been thinking of doing this for mine and the license plate bulbs, as well.

Any luck finding LED bulbs that would work in the vanity mirrors? I have found nothing at my end that is thin enough. The vanity disassembly is also a risky operation as they tend to fall apart during disassembly, so much care must be taken.

I did not even think about them when I made the film as I never use them. But I remember coming across a picture of the bulbs some time ago. I don't know how long they are, but I would think that the same Osram series would fit there too? The shortest bulb in the glove compartment is a bit thicker, but the rest are about the same thickness as the halogen bulbs.

@@NorwegianCarGuy it’s a delicate job and we should avoid changing them as the mirror glues itself over time to the circuit behind it. However, I am a bit of a perfectionist and did end up disassembling the unit only to find some very thin 6mm by 36mm festoon bulbs that I cannot find in LED. They are all too thick, even those that claim to be 6mm are closer to 8mm and therefore do not fit correctly in this very narrow space. The whole body of the bulb must be 6mm, not just the ends in order for it to fit.

I ended up using cartridge style LED’s in the vanity mirrors which required some modification. The buss style LED’s were too thick.

Why change out incandescent lamps that have a nice warm colour temperature with good colour rendering…. For led lamps that have a cold blue colour temp and poor colour rendering? The quality of light is now worse. But I guess you save a few watts when opening your door

      1. The original bulbs are so dim that they are almost useless in a black interior
      2. The yellow color looks horrible and all new cars including Porsche now uses natural white bulbs
      3. These LED bulbs are not blue, but natural white which gives you perfect color rendering, great visibility and it makes the interior look 20 years newer to match the quality of modern Porsche lights 👍

@@NorwegianCarGuy lamp selection is important. I’ve seen some cheap eBay leds that look terrible

@@tuul75 Yes, totally agree 👍 That's why I did not buy a premade kit, but sourced and got all Osram bulbs. The quality of the Osram ones are amazing 👌
