    VERY IMPORTANT, always make sure you know where the water pipe and electric cable are running before drilling the screw holes.

      What's the easiest way to check this?

    • @marilynperks6111
      @marilynperks6111 7 місяців тому

      If the shower is upstairs go into the loft and look above the cubicle. If the pipe and cable are fed from above you will see them.
      Or take off the old unit and you may be able to see which way they are being fed in.
      If you cant see due to tiles or whatever you can use a pipe/cable detector.
      Generally if they are not fed from above and are fitted correctly they should be either running vertically up, or possibly from the rear if there is a cupboard behind, or a hollow wall. @@red1981uk

    To ensure you safely isolate the electrical supply, you also need to prove that your tester is functional (using a proving unit or a known live supply), both before and after you test.
    In the video, you did not prove that your tester was functional so it could have been possible that the supply was still live and your tester wasn't working properly.

    Hi,your videos are great!very good job!i would like to ask you something,i just bought an electric shower but without knowing nothing about it,i am a little bit afraid of the plumbing part,basically i do have a normal shower tap and the plumbing system works with an electric pump and since i can not afford to spend almost 1000 euro for plumbers etc the only option available was to take out the old tap and from there to the cold side connecting an hose straight to the electric shower,in my mind it should work but im not 100% sure because everytime i connect the pressure washer to that very tap for some reason after 3 second stop working like if the water stop running and the only way to use it without problems is that i need to open another tap (feeded by the water pump) everywhere in the house and keep it open until done,in that way everything works fine and because of this im not 100% sure,im just worried that the electric shower would do the same of the pressure washer...have you any idea if can be done in this way?

    • @Dr.Stacker
      @Dr.Stacker 7 місяців тому

      You’d reduce the water pressure as the bore hole of the flexi is typically around 10mm, they are also typically internally constructed of rubber wouldnt be as safe a a copper pipe which is grounded on the water supply (you do still have earth connection to the rcd from the terminal block though)

      The obvious answer to that is, yes you can sort it. The over obvious answer is call someone who knows what they are doing. I am confident enough to do DIY on things such as electrics and basic plumbing. If I was ever in doubt though and thought for a second I can not do it safe I would pay a pro. Specially with electrics that can kill you or a family member. Water would be a nightmare if gone wrong and cause damage and a lot but at least will not kill you. Don't mess with electricity if you do not have a clue.
