@D R I used to think I've the same problem as you except #2. Firstly add the following supplements magnesium glycinate, potassium, chromium and zinc (after checking with doc). Your sugar cravings will disappear. Eat 100-120g of total carbs per day (wholegrain, A2 Milk, cottage cheese, A2 whey protein, leafy greens and veggies, seeds & nuts). Make sure to eat enough protein and fiber and healthy fats (chia seeds at least 10 g per day, nuts etc). Do intermittent fasting 12-16 hours daily. Keep up the exercise routine. You'll easily lose weight and also feel great.
TOFI, that was me! Tall and skinny, by the time I was 50 I had a small tummy, by the time I was 60 my tummy was bothering me and I knew I had to do something. I was over 200 pounds at 6'3". Most guys this height weight much more. I went Keto at age 68, just turned 70 now at 170 lbs and feeling better than I can ever remember feeling. I still have a tiny little roll of tummy right now but I am not stopping until it is gone and I will keep it gone. I always figured somehow my body was able to burn off sugars so eating a whole pack of oreos was nothing to me. For years my body put up with this, I am so glad I found out about sugar when I did. My body completely reversed all bad things, YOU CAN DO IT TOO.
Well, from my experience it's not so easy to fix when working 11 hours per day. However, after retiring in 2020, I lost 45 pounds in 1 year and got back to BMI normal. It wasn't easy, but weightloss and fitness are my full time job as a retiree. So, the big difficulty in my experience is losing weight when employed.
I thought i was the only person who could use this as a legitimate reason this is VERY VERY true. Sometimes our jobs(for me professions) really hamper how we can focus and achieve personal health goals.
I started listening to this and I was in awe of what was being said. After 25 min's I had to drag and try to skip all the insulting talk, the scientific talk because i wondered where you were going with this. People who gain weight they KNOW they gained weight. I wondered how it was so easy to fix but I don't think you ever make that point. Everyone knows when they're eating bad food but the whole American diet is awful. I follow a guy by the name of Bobby Perrish to try and learn what food to buy and why. He picks out what food, what the ingredients are, what I need to not put in my body, he shops for me by showing me what to avoid because we are always being tricked when we shop.
So easy to fix? I am like a heroin addict when it comes to carbs and sugar. It's so NOT easy to fix, I can't control it even though it's going to kill me. Therr is nothing easy about addiction.
It’s a simple fix but it may not be too easy to accomplish, especially if you try to make the changes all at once and do it on your own. This is why a lot of doctors offices now have health coaches. Pick ONE thing to improve upon and start there. Once that change feels good and is becoming more of a habit, make another change for the better, and so on and so on. Once you start feeling better for theses changes it becomes far easier. You feel SO much better that you won’t want to go back to your old ways.
@@luvurab It’s easy to fix but hard to accomplish ? That statement only makes the problem worse as it means nothing except to degrade the person. She may have many problems such as leptin resistance, microbiome issues , insulin resistance etc - all of which cause cravings and weight gain . She needs support not rules that don’t always apply. I hope you see that words can be hurtful instead of helpful
I've heard that sugar is 3x more addictive than cocaine. I hope that you discover the way for you to overcome this. I'm cheering for you, Sharon. BTW, the profile of gut microbiome within us is probably the #1 reason behind sugar addiction. The bad bacteria which love simple sugar release chemicals which affect our brain and mood. This reinforces the feedback loop and drives the addiction. If a person could swap out their intestinal microbiome, then it might have an immediate and dramatic effect on the psychological components related to sugar (among other things). To transition to better gut microbiome, you could begin to phase out sugar and use Xylitol instead, and start steadily adding a good fiber like Inulin to your diet to promote the growth of "good" bacteria. There is the wild fecal implant therapy to consider. I've not met anyone who's done it, but the results seem to be incredible.
My saving grace has been fresh vegetable curries with loads of greens: fenugreek, moringa, cilantro, parsley, spinach, swiss chard, kale, cabbage, zucchini, calaloo, carrot, beet, tomato, along with various pulses: chick pea, spilt pea, lentils, black, pink, butter, pinto, or kidney beans that I consume as a heavy soup, on occasion adding milk, fat free being acceeptable for flavor; for which I prepare layers of culinary and medicinal herbs, sometimes daily, such as fresh tumeric, and ginger root, garlic, onion, cumin, coriander, cloves, thyme, oregano, sumac, fennel seeds, kalonji, basil seed, sesame seed, pumpkin seed, guaje (Mexican), peanuts, all sorts of peppers: chile, poblanos, jalapeno, dried sometimes substituting cinnamon, nutmeg, mace, or allspine, with perhaps a small potato, either white or sweet, whole grains of: amaranth, rye berries, quinoa, millet, buckwheat, brown rice, oats, faro; sometimes adding kombu, and mushrooms, fresh everyday, also red Reishi (which must me simmered, of course.) This breakfast before my expresso laté that follows forty-five miutes later has greatly stabilized my gut microbiome and reduced cravings for starch and sugar globally because the waters that the vegetables bring from deep inside the electro-magnetic resonance of the earth promotes balance and greater realms of vibtational receptivity in consciousness.
There is a reason for having a guest speaker, for the to share their expertise experience and knowledge with us. If you feel that they can elucidate more or expand on some info just ask them a pertinent question rather than you filling in all the blanks. I really came to hear her speak.
I completely agree. The interruptions breaks the guests train of thought and makes it difficult for the listeners to follow what is being communicated.
I have had continuous joint pain and aching legs for the past 2 months. My blood test revealed high cholesterol but no other reason for inflammation. I have gut problems so have already removed gluten and dairy from my diet, but realised my fat and salt intake is high. Am removing (reducing) that where possible. Thanks for sharing your knowledge of how food can help to heal our bodies.....its fascinating.
I count total carbs (not net carbs). I can't eat enough vegi's and stay under 30g carbs/day. I wish these docs would explain how to get "a lot of fiber" and yet stay low in total carbs.
A lot of keto advocates will tell you either not to count carbs of green leafy vegetables (e.g. eat as much broccoli as you want, it won't spike insulin or kick you out of ketosis) or that fibre is not important. I faced a similar dilemma when starting keto and now I just don't worry about green leafy vegetables, I eat as much or little as I feel, life is pretty sad if you have to restrict the amount of cabbage you are eating.
A very frustrating conversation. Way to many words and verbal habits and round and round. Just not CLEAR. Is this woman getting paid every time she says visceral adiposity? Make your points and stop all this 'of course' little laughs and so on. It ends up sounding like so much self-congratulations -- yet 50 minutes in and we are still going round and round! Why can't you be clear? Here is what you need to do and we will provide a bulleted list, or a succinct summary, etc? If you have this problem -- which one get from all this, it is serious. This presentation is downright stressful.
Exactly! I have lost respect for Hyman. Glad I don't even know who this woman is and don't care to know. MDs are not the only ones changing their patients lives with functional /integrative medicine. They should shift to saying "practitioners". They must also believe that we don't care about our health or are unable to afford this form of care. Well they are in for a surprise!
Nobody ever told me about this not even once. The doctors give me stuff for high blood presure but do zero actual doctoring. Just to say I have started on a new eating plan changing my diet. Stopping intake of carbs was not so easy. After a few days I was going through withdrawals, my body didn't like it. Since then and after some thought decided on replacing carbs with protein is the best route to go. So replaced pasta and rice with lentils and lupin splits, things like that. Mung beans soaked for a day in water throw them in the pot to replace pasta and rice. So it has been one week. Stopping the sweet treats is also difficult. That is very difficult to give up suddenly so to resolve it I give myself a treat in the weekends and once midweek. I think it is still too much of the sweet treats but better than I was maybe; I will get that under control at least I started. In the meantime the belly fat is not moving to the site but my physical output is much more able, after tackling the steep hill I need to climb to get to the local food market. It is an nogoing thing but am taking it seriously. I will see how much my blood presure has goine down after at this time next month. So far so good but I am not happy about paying out to some doctor do nothing so will not be going to a doctor because I no longer trust them here in Western Australia. They sold us to Pfyzer who made 100 Billion from us and 24 Million for their CEO. As for our doctors they made heaps from it also and so did the pharmicist's who I am not quick to trust either.
Sooo informative. Thank you. You only gave Caucasian and Asian Indian numbers. Also, where are the recommended tests to take that you were to put up at the end of the Podcast?
All you need is fasting insulin. Be at least 12 hours fasted when you go to your doc for this blood test. I’ve brought mine down from 19. Currently at 11, need under 5.
Thanks doctors. I'm 39 and Asian and I went through many of the topics you talked about. I wish the whole world would just learn about this. The medical information you have shared to date in all your videos are important and real. People need to listen and follow what you have been teaching and sharing. These are the root answers to most of the health problems people are facing. Why does it take someone being sick and told you have anxiety and to go on meds for the person to finally give functional medicine our ears. Please practice what functional medicine is teaching. I remember when I had major inflammation and burns throughout my body after my 3rd C Section and other issues I sought a top allergist he took a quick look across the room at my hanging belly. Took blood work and said I have Uticaria. That doctor told me to take 2 pills of Zyrtec and 2 - 75 ml Zantac. Then he proceeded to say if that doesn't work I would need monthly shots for the rest of my life with each shot costing $750 dollars and to check with my insurance for help. I self taught myself what functional medicine preaches today without even knowing what functional medicine is. I just listened to my body.. ..there were points I had suicide in my mind because of my pain. Fast forward 3 years later I found and listened to your UA-cam videos and cried saying where was all of this information when I needed it. People need to know more about this. Our medical system, practices, and doctors need to stop making this life about business and money. Provide real care like you really care. Lastly that top allergist doctor had the nerve to tell me oh I only eat organic foods. That was his one only statement but he meant it as a comment and compliment to himself. Which made me realized doctors do know functional medicine but they don't care to share with you. Thank you Mark you are my health super hero.
56.5 yrs old, on no medications, I have had belly fat, inner thigh fat and arms stacked on since menopause (been in full meno 8.5yrs). I have just had fasted full blood and metabolic testing...thyroid, liver, insulin, etc fine! Only marker that showed any result that may have an impact is cortisol at 459 (norm 110-550 fasting A.M.). I have a genetically higher chol total at 6.1, HDL 1.2, LDL 4.0, trigl 1.9 and this dropped from my last test 6mnths prior. Ive been 1yr IF 16/8, do slightly higher protein, mod fat and low carb (50g) now. No refined sugars, use olive, MCT, or avo, dont eat out at all and don't eat any any junk foods or drinks, and less than 1 small glass wine per fortnight (if that). Exercise 2x a week HIIT, 1x session of total body weights, glute band exercises 2x week 15mim, 15 min morn yoga, 20 min & bedtime yoga daily and just starting primal movement 1x 20min a week. I work a sedentary desk job 3 days a week. But....i have been carrying this extra weight for long time and CANNOT shift it!!! Why???
I know. It's not as easy as they say. I lost 25 pounds then plateaued for 5 months before losing again. There's no explanation for the plateau. Our bodies are more complex than they want to admit.
You can do much for yourself and your health by cutting carbs and sugars. Eat one meal a day, and exert self-discipline. Weight will plummet, glucose levels and insulin resistance. You will be full of energy, sleep better, be more alert and optimistic. All for free!
It’s all great info, make me feel hopeful, however there is no way I can afford any of this, not even close. Another facet of our medical reality. It’s for the well off... and that is sad. I’ll try to follow some of the diet suggestions.
You can do much for yourself with simple advice like this and many top doctors. Cut your carbs to a minimum, cut out all sugars and starches, eat once a day (OMAD), and you will be astonished how your health improves within 3- 6 months. BMI, weight, energy, sleeping, glucose levels, insulin sensitivity. The diet costs nothing and actually saves you money in food bills. Also see Jason Fung videos.
My husband is 44, he’s fit, eats healthy, exercises (surfs, bikes), has no belly fat and is on 3 blood pressure medication and just recently put on colesterol medication. Please help bc we don’t know why and doctors are not willing to figure it out.
I wish the Ultra Wellness Center accepted medical insurance. I reached out and learned it costs thousands of dollars to access the “functional medicine” expertise. Very disappointing.
We do all we can and commit to God what we can not afford. After 21 years of the finest medical insurance my husband was pushed out of work he had made a good contribution to at 60. For 2 years we have paid out of pocket and really controlled our own health. We got him off Metformin with diet years ago. We eat delicious , not so strick , but added alot of fiber ,fruit and vegetables. Almost no processed foods... He is doing mostly outdoor work. Strong er than the 30 and 40 year olds! This is Fl. I laugh when these rich docs suggest saunas! To healthfully detox!! We do our own huge yard work. We sweat through work! We control our food since we shop and cook every meal. .....God is good. Life is short. There is coming judgement.... You can know the creator of your amazing mind and body. Read the Book of John.
Yeah, I agree. It is as if these doc's are simply saying, "Let them not eat cake!" This could have been a 5 minute interview. Here, I'll summarize everything they said: Don't eat sugar and simple carbohydrates because it will make you fat with adipose fat in your belly, and that adipose fat causes many negative physiological changes to the body that cause many conditions such as insulin resistance, which causes all that excess glucose in the blood stream to be stored in fat cells rather than metabolized into energy to fuel the body, and at the same time also prevents the breaking down of the energy stored in those fat cells into available energy to fuel the body. This also leads to diseases such as autoimmune diseases and cancers, which lead to a lower quality of life, and ultimately lead to early death. So, all you have to do is eat well, avoiding sugar and simple carbohydrates, and exercise continually, including at least two days a week of resistance training, aka weight lifting. Unfortunately, almost all of the food available to the US food consumer is processed, what is the factoid... 80% of the calories sold in grocery stores are derived from corn or high fructose corn syrup... so, the available food is loaded with sugars and simple carbohydrates, and most people in the US are stressed out beyond belief and are unable, or are barely able to meet the time and financial demands of every day, and that is without the time spent constantly shopping for fresh, non-processed foods, without the excess time preparing those foods into caustic tasting meals that no one in the family wants to eat, and finally committing a substantial amount of time each day to exercising. So, what are we supposed to do? We simply have to totally change our lives. That simply requires quitting a professional career that requires at least 60 hours a week to barely cover the mortgage, the purchase of energy, including electric, natural gas and petroleum, other utilities like internet and smart phone etc., about 20 types or required insurances for every aspect of our lives, including hugely expensive health insurance for every member of the family, and taxes, like tax on our income, then a flat tax on what we spend that income on, tax on our property, tax on all those required utilities, tax at the city level, the county level, the state level and the federal level (perhaps we'll soon have to pay international taxes to cover pressing demands like hoaxy pandemic response taxes, you think I'm kidding, just wait, and remember this random comment on YT!). Then there are the educational expenses, like our six figure debt for our own education that gave us access to our career we just quit, but also private schooling our children so they have a chance of learning, rather than wasting away in a school populated by unreared children, who are largely irretrievably sociopathic by the second grade, consuming popular media like the torture genre of movies, music where sex, violence, drug use and status are the only topics discussed, and are portrayed as life's only ideals, and video games that are very purposefully and successfully designed to produce the exact neurochemical response in the brain to induce maximum addiction, addiction which is indistinguishable from street drug addictions, which leads to arrested intellectual and emotional development, narcissistic tendencies, an inability to focus attention for more than 10 seconds (if that), social isolation due to the inability to form or sustain interpersonal relationships, and ultimately, a nihilistic world view where nothing has meaning, even human life. But even then, the private schools are now also being inundated with the same caliber of student, as while their parents care about their children, evidenced by the payment of crushing fees to educate them, these overworked parents simply do not have the time in the day to spend any meaningful time with their children due to the demands of their careers. And, of course, both parents must work now to afford the basic necessities of life, so no one is available to rear children. We can then withdraw our children from these hugely expensive private schools, enroll them in the pre-prison public school institutions where the remaining curriculum is anti-white, anti-American, anti-christian, anti-capitalism, and anti-male, then switch to a low paying part time job requiring only 20 hours a week so that we can spend the extra time necessary to eat diets containing no sugars or simple carbohydrates, which includes all the excess time shopping, and preparing that food, and then also spending the additional time exercising on a daily basis. The catch though, is that these actually non-toxic, nutritious, non-processed foods are too expensive to afford on a part time, low wage job. SO then, maybe we can make the same job switch, going from a full time job of 60 hours a week to part time job of 20 hours a week so that we can grow our own food requiring the purchase of a sizeable piece of arable land, which we can't do because we can't afford it, a few thousand hours of study into agricultural sciences, which we can't do because we can't afford it, the purchase of hugely expensive (thank you epa) farming equipment, which we can't do because we can't afford it. All this to get fresh food that isn't loaded with toxicity at every level from chemical to microbial, but then we have to contend with the reality that the air that our plants resperate is toxic, the water we irrigate our plants with is toxic, both intentionally and unintentionally, and even the soil that we grow our plants in is toxic, all of which concentrate those toxins into our own grown food, and when we eat that food, those toxins are concentrated in our tissue, producing innumerable negative health consequences, up to and including early death. I mean, do I really need to go on as to why everybody is fat, unhappy and ill? Again, it is as if these doc's are simply saying, "Let them not eat cake!" I really enjoy their glib attitudes, such positivity!
I see this post was made 2 yrs ago but Everything you said is still true if not more so. Rich people are healthy because they can afford it, & I don't think this is by accident! The poor suffer from obesity & then we are called gluttons. This much I know- the best I have to look forward to is struggling every day with many of these issues so I can die a healthier, relatively quick, painless death trusting The Lord my God for a better life to come!
I have below the belly-button belly fat but almost no belly fat above the waist. I have normal insulin and glucose is 85, which is good. I think that is normal for me, I was a 9 pound baby. Cholesterol 170, HDL69, HDL 90. Triglyceride 53
Or you get rid of oils from your diet and limits nuts to one ounce per day and lower the fat inside the cells that blocks insulin. Whole foods, plant based, no oils or sugar has allowed me to lose 30 pounds in 6 months. Would have been more but half the time I was eating several pounds of nuts per week. Sauté with a couple of tablespoons of water instead of oil. Again, too many lipids inside the cell blocks insulin. I was paleo, (can't do keto because of fat malabsorption) and eating more veggies improved many things, but whole food, plant based no oil, flours or sugar, eating all I want and losing weight. A good portion low carb veggies and greens. I do berries for fruit because of their lower gylcemic index.
At the 10:25 minute mark Dr. Boham talks about how to properly measure your weight circumference. But what she doesn't say is whether or not you're supposed to "suck in your stomach" before taking the measurement. I wish she would have addressed that.
Probably doesnt apply to the masses but i seen on a video that why protein produces the highest insulin spike even over carbs. Fact check that but ive always kept that in mind and time my shakes after workouts. Try to avoid it as a breakfast or before bed
Hyman: (roughly) "Whole wheat foods are better to prevent insulin spikes." BUT IN REALITY: Whole Wheat bread has a substantially higher glycemic index... Why do slightly fraudy MD's, and just all MD's in general always recommend whole wheat bread over white bread when whole wheat bread has a higher glycemic index, which causes higher circulating glucose levels, which in turn causes an insulin spike to handle the excessive amounts of glucose, which causes the parade of terribles.
You have to really watch whole wheat bread. If the first ingredient is enriched wheat flour it is really just white bread that has been colored with molasses. If it states whole wheat flour and has a high level of fiber, then it is truly whole wheat bread.
Hi there, I believe it is better to eat food that has not been tempered with as this is the best call. Organic wholegrain foods are in their natural state and thus will nourish the body with nutrients needed for repair, maintainenance and the building of the system, as opposed to refined foods like white bread, which have nutrients stripped off. 💙💙💙
I find this video very interesting. I looked and felt my best while on a keto diet, however all that coconut oil and grass fed butter plus eggs did not impact my lipid levels well. I understand the miss information about cholesterol levels, but seeing them spike so high was scary. I am now trying to stick to a more Mediterranean-based diet and my numbers are much better! Can the green tea be consumed cold as well?
My belly fat came with menopause. Never had it before. Right side at the liver is larger. Looks like a baby with his bum sticking up on right side.. I have trouble with diaphragm and breathing. Sometimes it’s rock hard sometime very supple. Help! I’m having my second knee replacement on May. 17 2021. I had back spinal surgery as well. All in last 3 years. Normal weight 120 to 130. Im at 170 right now and know I will walk it off soon. I lost 70 pounds after last knee surgery just by walking for 3 months. Gained 50 back when second knee bummed out. I have arthritis and eating for it. Help! I am using a pedal exerciser and stretching and walking outside. I live in small town. Lots of fresh air.
Tooo many commercials. Can you imagine attempting to follow a train of thought in a lecture hall only to have, at short intervals, the middle of a sentence interrupted by blaring, sometimes disgusting, commercials thrown in front of one’s face? This does in fact bring on stress. Bad form.
I'm so frustrated and confused. I have every symptom in the book for insulin resistance, each one they said in this video, however for the last 4 years (I do bloodwork 1x a year) I have abnormally low fasting insulin. It's 1.5 to 2.0. I've gone to several doctors for their opinions as this makes no sense...but they literally don't know what to tell me. I think it's good and yet I have the excess belly fat, constant hunger, carb addiction, highly resistant to weight loss. Any ideas?
One important thing is not diets but rather to reduce Total Carbs and eat only Healthy carbs. I once reduced my total carbs to 65 grams/day - And lost exactly 32 pounds in exactly 5 weeks using a calibrated sliding weight scale. When I told my GP this he spun around in his chair that it started to tip over with a priceless look on his face and asked - what did you say? More priceless looks on his face🤣
Pleasedo me a favor and tell me what carb is essential. Ill wait.... Please dont waste your time, there are none. NONE So why eat them at all? I dont. .
@@ethimself5064 so phytate, lectin, oxalate and chemically sprayed and infused fruitsand veggies are essential? Nope. They are a detrimental food. Well they arent reslky food. They are mini poisons.
@@ethimself5064 ive been car.ivore for 5 years. The reason is because keto didn't remove the last 20 poundsbecause of eating salads and a few berries. Once I cut out all plant matter the fat melted off. Plants are poison. All of them have toxins and chemicals. If youre young you can possibly get away with eating plants. But it will catch uo to you sooner or later. I guarantee it. Rat meat, butter, eggs and fish. Heal your body from toxins.
Just want to now know how to reduce belly fat & reduce hyperinsulinaemia.? I have been ultra low carb for years, even as far as a Carnivore diet, ( latest dietary method)....... having been thru every diet I can find....... No progress. This insulin resistance started for me 30 years ago with a PCOS (Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrom). I am beyond frustrated !
Time restricted feeding” (TRF) is very helpful (eating in a 4-6 hour time frame); too much protein will spike insulin, avoid vegetable oils, lifting light weights with high repetitions generates mitochondria, walk every day, 8-9 hours of sleep; and get TSH checked - many people have hypothyroid.🙏🏼
Phenomenal professors with tremendous success and the will to do. They almost project the healing methods and recommendations onto the sick people, while explaining the functional physical causes of the diseases in a comprehensible way. I wish you both good health and continued success! Thanks✌️👼😍
There wasn't a really good plan on here about addressing the belly fat. A few suggestions Like eliminate toxins & watch sugars & carbs & exercising. All very standard. Guess I was thinking they had come up with something solid to change the stubborn belly fat. Talk was very round about and repetitive in some ways.
My recommondation: Avoid completely McDo, McFat, McSweety and everywhere they´re serving Portions above 1000 or 2000 cal. Try to coock at home and drink a lot of water
Waist to hip is not very accurate. I have skinny friends who eat sugar and carbs, and could have visceral fat and be thin on the outside fat on the inside. It’s definitely not a marker of health, but it is one.
I have no real waist. Last rib sits on top of pelvis. The area over greater trochanter is the least fatty area of my body and is not the widest part of my hips. The area of the iliac crest is my widest part.
@Joyce Balak No they don't, not visceral fat, and that is what they are talking about. Visceral fat is an indicator of insulin resistance, and no one wants that. It will kill you. Normal healthy people are between 15 - 30 percent fat, or less for athletes and fitness buffs. No harm there, although I'm uncertain what your obvious reasons are for women needing some fat in the belly.
Too many words, get to the point. Perhaps if they were more focused, they would have told us what the recommended numbers are for African Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans, and others. Or at least they might have noticed those numbers were missing here.
Where’s the info on what makes up a realistic diet plan that’s healthy fat & low carb? Cutting sugar is easy to figure out those foods but do we eat bacon & lettuce every day of our lives? After 50 Keto diet no longer works I’m now obese. Low carb used to help keep weight under control, now 56, IF & OMAD w low carb & adding fat does nothing to get rid of the belly fat.

Thanks to both of you for covering this topic. Question: do you ever see people have issue with stevia? I have heard that it can trick the body into making insulin?
In case your in a hurry:
1. Cut carbs and sugar
2. Drink green tea
3. Exercise
Try seeking a professional, I recommend Dr Gundry you can follow him online too. His ways helped me a lot.
@D R it’s genetic in the sense that one person can eat sweet potatoes with no response and another person can’t.
Thank you!
TOFI, that was me! Tall and skinny, by the time I was 50 I had a small tummy, by the time I was 60 my tummy was bothering me and I knew I had to do something. I was over 200 pounds at 6'3".
This really resonates and is almost exactly what I have been realizing.
And perhaps less stress helped too
Yes! You are correct!
Absolutely
I thought i was the only person who could use this as a legitimate reason this is VERY VERY true. Sometimes our jobs(for me professions) really hamper how we can focus and achieve personal health goals.

You are changing the world for the better Mark and Elizabeth and all other guests
Have you tried using the supplement Berberine ? I too am an addict but this has helped me . It works similar to Metformin -
It’s a simple fix but it may not be too easy to accomplish, especially if you try to make the changes all at once and do it on your own.
@@marvelaturraz5405 thank you so much for this information. I will look into it. I need all the help I can get.

Keto bread at aldi
A lot of keto advocates will tell you either not to count carbs of green leafy vegetables (e.g. eat as much broccoli as you want, it won't spike insulin or kick you out of ketosis) or that fibre is not important. I faced a similar dilemma when starting keto and now I just don't worry about green leafy vegetables, I eat as much or little as I feel, life is pretty sad if you have to restrict the amount of cabbage you are eating.

Thank you. VERY CRITICAL information !!! Belly fat is like a separate entity. "difficult" yet so simple to get rid of !!!
I thought it was cortisol causing stomach fat deposition!
What about African Americans and Hispanics for the waist circumference? What should it be for these groups?
I was wondering the same thing. Is there some reason they left those groups out?
My thoughts exactly 🤷🏽♀️
They left us out because they are white!!! They don’t give a shit about our people!!🤨
Amena, testify girl!!!!!😁👍🏽🙏🏽
Sir, your videos are full of knowledge. You are doing great service to humanity. God bless you. Love from India 🙏🙂
Awesome podcast Doctors. However, you didn't mention to stop snacking and cut meals per day in order to reduce insulin levels!
Sooo informative. Thank you. You only gave Caucasian and Asian Indian numbers. Also, where are the recommended tests to take that you were to put up at the end of the Podcast?

Very interesting and informative episode. I could listen to Dr. Bohem for hours. Thanks.
Bump up the fasting once a week to 24 hrs.

It is as if these doc's are simply saying, "Let them not eat cake!"
This could have been a 5 minute interview. Here, I'll summarize everything they said:
Don't eat sugar and simple carbohydrates because it will make you fat with adipose fat in your belly, and that adipose fat causes many negative physiological changes to the body that cause many conditions such as insulin resistance, which causes all that excess glucose in the blood stream to be stored in fat cells rather than metabolized into energy to fuel the body, and at the same time also prevents the breaking down of the energy stored in those fat cells into available energy to fuel the body.

Hey Mark. Can you make an episode talking about potassium and magnesium on the carnivore diet ?
@@louvoodoo I recommend still checking the glycemic index of the particular bread.

I believe it is better to eat food that has not been tempered with as this is the best call. Organic wholegrain foods are in their natural state and thus will nourish the body with nutrients needed for repair, maintainenance and the building of the system, as opposed to refined foods like white bread, which have nutrients stripped off.
