Excellent hack, over here they seem to be going more towards the cans that don't have the little pipe sticking out the top of the can now, they are inverted and the spray cap actually has the little pipe sticking out on it which then goes in to the hole on the can.

I am quitting on an Australian brand of engine enamel with a blinkin' TAB in the nozzle? I merely need to retouch my Xmas pudding steamer bowl. Have you seen these where you are?

Yea there is a trick for that too, involves a tire valve stem.

Just hold the can upright and use the blower attachment on an air compressor to fill the can with atmospheric air. Just make sure the holes are totally aligned. Aerosol cans are filled with an expellant gas, but the pressure difference will let atmosphere work just fine. Only difference is air has oxygen, which means shorter shelf life. Odds are good though if your filling up your own spray can there’s not much left to use.

This will happen on some aerosol cans when you switch nozzles. Sometimes, not always, the post that sticks up from the valve on the can is either bigger or smaller in diameter than the one for the WD-40 Smart Straw nozzles. Hope this helps you.
