    Maytag had an excellent design already in the late 70s and 80s.. Those washers with the spinning transmission inside its cabinet. Durable, clear pump view , simple to check the belt . Everything looked so robust and very simple .

    As an appliance repair technician, please take my word. This Maytag is just a souped-up VMW. Every part inside of this Maytag machine is made with cheap plastic parts. Plastic drive hub, plastic shift actuator and a PLASTIC CLUTCH. Whirlpool/Maytag are SCARED TO DEATH OF SPEED QUEEN. Don’t let this “test” fool you. Speed Queen is still by far the best. I have many customers with the TR series washers with no complaints. This is my honest, expert opinion. I’ve seen many, many failures on these Maytag machines.

      @@MrChristian There are two types of speed queen top loading washers being produced as of the time this comment was posted. there are the ones like in this video ( which are called agitub) and are computer controlled so the agitator and tub move together, and there is another type (soon to be discontinued) which have the traditional gearbox and agitator setup like your old whirlpool. the agitub ones like in this video go by "TR3, TR5, and TR7" and the traditional agitator type go by "TC" or "ANW" in the model number. Avoid the TR7, TR5, AND TR3 at all costs, they are modern junk, break down all the time and do not clean. if you buy speed queen, make sure to get their "classic clean" type (the type with the transmission and agitator separate from the tub) which goes by the TC or ANW model number. The latest one with the traditional agitator and gearbox goes by the model tc5003wn. get them before you can't anymore, the classic washers won't be around for much longer due to increasing pressure from environmentalists and lawmakers! hope this comment helped you

I'm only surprised that after 75-100 years of washing machines, we haven't settled into a basic agreement and understanding on key washing machine features, not referring to the trivial faddish features (ringtones, bluetooth, etc). I wish I had the money to design my own washing machine.

    After watching this video I bought the Maytag washer tonight. Only paid $739. Wow what a great washer. Everything came out great the dirty jeens and white towel came out wonderful. It dosnt take forever to get the wash done. My older HE Maytag Bravo XL took like 55 minutes to do a wash and it never got my clothes clean. This commercial washer only takes 25 minutes to complete the cycle and cleans great.
    I was going to spend $1000 for speed queen but after watching this video I bought the better washer for less price.
    So speed queen if you read this you just lost a sale. Never have change what was working. If I could of found 2017 model speed queen I would of bought one. Love this machine and 5 year warranty and 10 year on motor what a great machine. MAYTAG WON this battle hands down. If you have kids and wear lots of dirty jeens. Have to disagree. I bought a Speed Queen 8-9 yrs ago to replace a KENMORE 27 yrs. The Speed Queen failed last week. We bought a new TR7003WW and it was defective from the moment it entered our home. Returned error messages, made high pitched noises. didn't clean or properly spin clothes. The KENMORE WASHING MACHINE COST $300. We also bought the matching dryer which is still going strong. The First SPEED QUEEN cost us $800 and lasted only 8-9 yrs. (to possibly repair it would cost $500 but the authorized repairman was not sure the bottom board would actually fix it, It may need a top board. So the cost could go up from the $500 which the repairman did not put on paper). The new SPEED QUEEN cost $1500 and never worked at all. Now we have only a hole in our laundry room. I definitely WILL count Speed Queen out. Not only do they not have reliable machines, they can't even be bothered to make sure what is delivered is first quality and will work. I have learned their customer is their dealer. Not the resident who buys in good faith and expects a company to stand behind their product.

    Speed Queen does not use rollover to wash clothes. They are cleaned by powerful water currents produced by a 1 horse power rapidly reversing motor. The Maytag washer uses traditional wash action with turnover. This is like comparing apples and oranges. The same as comparing the wash action of the Maytag to a high rated front loaders turnover. Think about that comparison? Not a fair comparison since the outcome is what matters, not how you get there.

    • @fredwelch1391
      @fredwelch1391 5 років тому +3

      But the outcome is sorely lacking according to dozens and dozens of reviews on the 2018 SQ. They just don't get clothes clean. You're gonna tell me that that yellow towel is, by design, supposed to just float up there at the top of the wash tub?! It's not getting washed, it's just floating there! We just had to replace our washer and dryer. 9 years ago we got suckered into the trendy BS of front load washers and that's what we bought then. Over the past few years we couldn't wait to get rid of it. We went with the residential commercial model Maytag. Would have considered the 2019 SQ since I've heard they acknowledged their mistakes and went back to the old design but now they think they can charge over $1,000 for it. Sorry, SQ. Not falling for that one. It's apparent they lost thousands in sales over the 2018 debacle.

    • @petermaz701
      @petermaz701 5 років тому

      Fred Welch I own the 2019 TR7 It’s a remarkable machine very versatile and works beautifully they were tweaked in late 2018 production my washer was actually built December 2018 so I have the latest as we may call it upgrades to the washing program. The machine uses water surges to clean the clothes so if that yellow towel on top was being hurled through the water back-and-forth yes it got cleaned it doesn’t have to go underneath because the water surges is what cleaned it as opposed to being pulled down to the agitator in a traditional model that has to beat the item clean.

    I purchased this washer, and am very happy with it. My only criticism is if you buy the matching dryer and want the tops to be level, you have to raise the dryer up nearly 2 inches because it naturally sits lower. Maytag does provide levelers, but the dryer being that high off the floor is a bit silly. Most washers and dryers aren’t sitting together in a laundromat, so it just seems to be a design flaw that was overlooked for the residential market. Both appliances work great though.

    After the Whirlpool Duets nightmare we were forced to deal with years ago, it's not easy to be confident going forward especially for this expensive price point.

    Wish I could get this Maytag in larger like 4.2 ... my thing is I need to be able to wash cal king blankets and thin comforters ... does this let you open and shut lid durning any cycle ? I have Maytag now it takes forever to fill it keeps stopping as it's filling up and then starts filling up and stops fills up and stops .. it doesn't seem to clean very well at all.. and it locks the lid durning spin

    I bought the Maytag 575 about a month ago. I was having a problem, on occasion, with the spin cycle not getting enough water out of the clothes, usually a full load "Power Wash", or a "Bulky/Towels cycle. Since the lid was locked, I couldn't see what was going on with the cycle. After experimenting, and reading Troubleshooting in the manual, I found the simple fix. The "Final Spin" wasn't spinning, or wasn't spinning fast enough, because the load wasn't balanced. If a load wasn't balanced on my 20 year old Maytag, it just banged and rocked and danced around on the floor until I came running in and adjusted the load. The 575 will just not spin if the sensors feel an unbalanced load. So, after my wash cycle is complete, but still too wet, I adjust the clothes so they are balanced in the machine, then set the dial to "Drain and Spin". Now, I will hear the spin cycle spinning quickly, and the water draining properly.
    The difference from my 20 year old washer, from the new 575 Maytag is that they both didn't spin well if the load was unbalanced, but the 575 does not bang and dance around with the unbalanced load, it just doesn't spin at all, or at high speeds, because it doesn't really like to bang and dance around on the laundry room floor, and neither do I.
    Overall, the 575 washer and matching dryer are the best machines I have owned.

      Excellent insight! Who wants to babysit a washer these days? Your comment pushed me over the fence to buy an LG 3900. My hesitation on the 575 was due to the far-too-many negative ratings/comments about its erratic and insufficient spin drying. Those owner ratings appear on Maytag's 575 product page and are from Incentivized Reviewers, among others. I'm not interested in waiting around for a wash cycle to complete JUST to see IF I'll need to "adjust the clothes so they are balanced in the machine". It appears to me that this model is but a mere 2-3 features away from getting it right. I'll be on the sidelines until that happens dealing with whatever issues the 3900 throws my way.

      I had an LG top-loader.
      Talk about having to babysit a washer!
      It would go out of balance regardless of how carefully we loaded it, wasting repeated fills and refills, eventually settling into an electronic sulk with the uE (unbalanced load) code on the display.
      It took hours to run a single load.
      When it died, I bought the newly introduced Speed Queen TC5000 instead of the Maytag 575 because the SQ has an all-metal transmission and a one-piece dasher (let Spiro Agnew's ghost use the four-syllable agitator).
      The SQ takes under 40 minutes to complete a load with second rinse, with the added advantages that the clothes come out clean and I haven't had to stop the machine and redistribute the load.

      But compare the plastic-gear Maytag to the current TC5000WN from SQ, the one with the tub brake, two-speed motor, and the all-metal transmission, and wash action is about equally efficient.
      My TC5000 rolls a load of two queen-size microfiber blankets over with no problems.

    SQ may have just ruined their brand for the regular home owner, I see the 2018 model coming up on kijiji now, being resold for 500 under the price of new. Many people saying not cleaning aggressive enough, and that's someone trying to sell it :(
    The whole point of SQ was super reliable, amazing cleaning action, good clothes cycling, etc etc... So now we are left with this?
