    Maytag looks like a classic Brastemp washer but with a dual-action agitator and a shredding-like bottom plate. I miss these washing machines with continuous motor rotation where the agitation is made by a crankshaft inside the transmission, it's nice to see Speed Queen creating machines with classic mechanic but with modern features, I hope this one to come to Brazil.

    • @belairrbx
      @belairrbx Рік тому

      Both Brastemp and Maytag are made by whirlpool, so that's why.

  • @Dmeech100
    @Dmeech100 4 роки тому +72

    Speed Queen didn’t overheat because the agitator just spun back and forth in the water, without turning or tumbling the comforter. Which means there was little to no resistance against the agitator and the agitator didnt move the sheet through the water at all, just splashed in the middle. That’s why you sped up the video until the tub was drained, so viewers wouldn’t see that the comforter/sheet literally remained in same position it was put in. Im sure the speed Queen does better on normal loads. Post the full, normal speed recording and let us judge for ourselves.

      Just change your settings to see it slower. And the load was white bath towels, not a comforter. Either way, both machines were overloaded.

    I'll be getting the commercial Maytag with the 5 year warranty. I realize I'm trading off some horsepower and water usage but after research I've learned: 1. Unless you purchase directly from Speed Queen in the unlikely event that you need service it is completely up to the merchant you purchased it from to provide it to you. Speed Queen has no obligation to service your washer purchased elsewhere. 2. Clothes turnover. Review after review shows the Speed Queen just does not handle moving the clothes well compared to the Maytag. Maytag has the superior agitator. 3. Price (at least for me). With delivery, hauling old one away...I found it for about 70.00 less.
    They are both well built. No doubt. I know the SQ handles water levels much better than the Maytag but it's not enough of a 'pro' to offset all the advantages the MVWP575GW offers....for me.
    EDIT: Ended up with the SQ TC5 and its worked out very well. What ended up swaying me were the issues I read about plastic gears / transmission problems with the Maytag. Not that there were an abundance of them but enough that it gave me pause.
    Months later the TC5 is performing very well. It is definitely very well built (and noisy) and has cleaned all my clothes -from jeans to delicate - very well. No regrets and hopefully I don't have to use the warranty or require a repair for at least 15 years.

      @PinkPower4 We bought the Maytag washer and it's going back. It washes the clothes good but it is the loudest washing machine we have every heard. We have a large house and I can hear that thing moaning a groining all over the house. The worst is on a delicate cycle, which is where most of our clothes go on. Nobody can tell me a washing machine should be that loud. I also had to buy water hammering valves because during the fill cycle, it is constantly going from hot to cold and when it does that, my pipes are rattling all over the house. My 15 year old Maytag never did that. So for an $800 plus washer, I would a say that unless you have a separate area that is completely isolated from the rest of the house, you would be making a mistake buying that Maytag commercial washer. Everything looks nice at the store. Not sure if the Speed is any better for noise.

      The Speed Queen TC5 is louder than the Maytag. But if you want something that is actually quieter than either one, I would look into the Speed Queen TR models. I was actually really impressed with the TR7 that I tried out.

    I could not help but notice that the SQ TC5, its agitator, does *NOT* really do much to turn the clothes. It seems to me that the inner part of the clothes (like a donut), doesn't really get much massaging, so to say. It's missing what Maytag calls on some of its models, an auger.

The Maytag seemed like a toy, not near as well put together nor did it feel like they put that much thought into it. The black top peace felt cheesey to me like they were trying to hard. The controls, lights, everything felt cheap. It was like the bottom end Roper in a different housing. I hope and pray the SQ holds up but so far I am very happy with it.

      @@user-uh3yb9vi3u, Your best bet are these two options nowadays, the Speed Queen TC5003WN washer, or the GE GTW840CPNDG washer. With Speed Queen obviously, you get the most durable and reliable high performance washing machine that money can buy, and with this high end GE model, you get the most durable and reliable feature rich high performance/high efficiency washing machine that money can buy.
      The Speed Queen Classic Clean TC5000 series washer has the best built belt drive motor, for the simple fact that it's driven by an extremely sturdy transmission. The GE GTW840CPNDG compared to other high efficiency washing machines has a warm rinse option {along with other rinse options to add}, a direct drive motor (which is low maintenance by design due to the high quality build of it), and an overall commercial quality build (I'll go into specifics if asked). We tried to do a load of laundry and the washer wouldn’t agitate. I took a video to show that the agitator pretty much just vibrated, and didn’t even disturb the small amount of suds that formed when the machine partially filled with water. I took the video to Pochels the next morning. They said they would gladly deliver another machine for only $100. I told them I wasn’t willing to pay an additional $100 to get a machine that worked when I had already paid over $1,000 for one that obviously didn’t work. The agitator doesn’t always work, the fill doesn’t always work, the agitator tries to dry clean the clothes with no water in the tub and the clothes on top don’t get clean.

However, unlike our competitor, our machines fill all the way to the top so you can fill our machines to the very top with clothing. Our machines can fit 18 lbs of clothing (12 big thick towels or 7 pairs of jeans or Queen size comforter or King size bedding). Build quality is nice, but too bad the TR series is junk...
    If you want to change up the design and try something new, experiment with different agitator designs. Like try a dual action or a ramped spiral design like Kenmore’s Rotoswirl or GE’s Activator. I personally think a ramped spiral agitator would be amazing with your 210 degree agitation stroke while being gentle on clothes.
    And you should also expand your TC series lineup. Like make a model with mechanical controls like your 2017 series and models with the TR series’ controls. You could get MUCH better sales and ratings if you do that.

      Dude the comparing of residential machines and companies to a commercial company with commercial machines makes absolutely no sense. They don't need the residential market much less all those stupid gimmicky agitator designs from other companies that obviously they would sued for using those designs that wouldn't hold up in the commercial world anyhow. These are commercial machines sold to the public and are in no way comparable to even the new Maytag commercial garbage built by whirlpool, only the original Maytag was the worthy competitor to SQ!

    OK, I am at .59 and this is laughable. I knew something was very different from my old Speed Queen to the defective one delivered to me. The tub looked different. This side by side made me realize why the Speed Queen may have done such a terrible job - it's the agitator! The Maytag has the old agitator like my original KENMORE HAD! I loved my old SPEED QUEEN and KENMORE (made by Whirlpool) but my Kenmore traveled to several different homes and the moves adversely shortened its life apparently. So I had to replace it 8-9 years ago. Still have my Kenmore dryer! The Kenmore washer lasted 27 years. The Speed Queen lasted 8-9. The newest Speed Queen I bought lasted less than 24 hours! The good thing about this comparison is it helped me to see what I really need in a new machine. I think my old Speed Queen had the same agitator as my Kenmore. Or one very close to it. The new one for the TR7003WN - HORRIBLE!

      @SpeedQueenHome  Рік тому

      We're so sorry to hear about this experience! While our TR series are designed to perform a little differently than machines from the past, we do have our TC5 with has a transmission driven agitator that isn't fixed to the tub and may be more of what you're looking for in a washer!

      @@SpeedQueenHome I bought from one of your authorized dealers 8-9 yrs ago the AWNE92SP113. It stopped working last yr, just after warranty expired. Never received any recall notice during time I owned. Dealer did not provide written repair estimate, verbal estlmate was more than 1/2 cost of total machine (and one of the reasons I bought SQ in the first place was ease to repair front panel access. The panel was off and placement of bottom board is very easy to see and reach). The cost to replace the bottom circuit board was $500 (I learned from SQ the part cost $260. So labor almost doubled the repair cost). Dealer's tech didn't actually do any diagnostics and apparently just used error code displayed to tell us repair cost. He did include he was not sure and repair could require top board replacement TOO, no cost for it offered at all. I learned from SP directly the cost of top board was #$81.28. No idea what labor would be. I have had to learn a LOT this week since the new defective/damaged TR7003WN was delivered AND my AWNE92SP113 was taken by the dealer (interesting tidbit- no haulaway fee was included in any paperwork). Here are my lingering questions - NOTE: Speed Queen Customer Care promised to call back on Wednesday. It is now Sat. No call, No followup email. I learned that when it comes to SPEED QUEENS, dealer is your real customer. NO authorized dealer dealer is required to act on a SP CASE when an end user needs expert help. A dealer can refuse service if they didn't sell the machine OR they don't want to service after a sell, claiming the buyer's address is outside their area. I also learned and read if a customer moves a machine it can void the warranty AND if a machine is moved a buyer may be outside the area of the original dealer who sold the machine. SO HOW CAN A BUYER LEARN DEALER territories/which dealers provide service where?
      2 Does the TC5000 have circuit boards? What is the warranty on the circuit boards? Our AWNE92SP113 had two. (Our Kenmore had a very old board that never failed after 27 yrs of use). What is the life expectancy of SP's boards? I don't see specific reference to them in the warranty info and ours just happened to fail just after the warranty expired. When we went to dealer to replace the AWNE92SP113 last week we were told they didn't have any of the Speed Queen models that are 'manual" - they were sold out. Is what they were referring the TC5000? How can an end user buy one, get it delivered, and set up and it work? The TR7003WN arrived damaged/broken. It made a horrible noise, didn't wash or spin properly AND the dealer's tech couldn't diagnose what was causing all. He spent over a half an hour wresting with the front feet to get the nuts loose so he could properly level the machine (which apparently had not been done by the delivery/installer staff). Our AWNE92SP113 had front and back self levelers. Delivery and set up took moments. And back then the delivery guys used levels. The TR7003 had only back self levelers BUT it has left a mystery. The installers didn't tip the machine up very much at all AND they didn't bother to bring a level with them. The machine looked unlevel. So when hubby came home, he used level and engaged the back levelers As much as I wanted to start using it I waited to make sure it was level. The machine has no way to tell you if it is level before use. When the dealer's authorized Speed Queen repairman came the next day, he too had to reset the back self levelers. Why would it need to be done so often? It made me wonder if the machine had an inherent stability issue? The AWNE was a dream machine. And we never had any issue with it. Does the TC 5000 have self levelers like the AWN or does it have the same as the TR7000? Can levelers just be defective?
      3- The repairman who came out (both times) said the TR7000 had a design flaw. Some box at the front bottom that was responsible for the numerous error codes and stoppages we lived with that horrible machine. Our AWNE92SP113 did NOT have that box. Does the TC5000?
      4. I bought my vehicle in an unique way per manufacturer. I was living in one state and wanted a particular model which was not available. So, I flew a few states away and bought from the manufacturer's largest dealer and I drove my new beloved (still in use) vehicle home. In March my vehicle turned 23. Has been a dream. The manufacturer contacts me periodically to check in and see how things are going. I routinely get letters or cards to do customer satisfaction surveys. When we moved where we are now I was able to contact manufacturer and they offered the name and dealership for the most skilled technician in the state. The tech won top honors for decades via their company tech competitions. That man services my vehicle to this day. SPEED QUEEN - completely different experience. Last week I called Speed Queen when the TR7003WN arrived and didn't work and the local dealer, who knew it was the floor model he sold, didn't immediately offer a replacement. Speed Queen claimed to care about customers and I needed help. Spoke to a RHEA. On the phone for a long time with her (literally the stress grew so much I went blind in one eye - quick background, I was stalked and almost killed decades ago and pain I wrestle with daily is amped by stress. RHEA created a CASE. Could NOT find any technician to come to our home. Sent one email to a biz over an hour from us telling this biz simply that I required service and had an active warranty. (the copy sent to me included specific personal INFO I told Rhea could NOT be sent via EMAIL and she promised me it would not). I learned the price of both boards and there had been no service call to Speed Queen recorded on their end. (even though technician said he was calling them while here). SP call concluded with Rhea’s assurance Speed Queen would make sure we got a first quality Speed Queen to replace the one that failed (and their dealer took away). She said what we endured is not what Speed Queen expects from their dealers. She said she would wait to hear reply to email BUT she wasn’t going to wait all day for reply. She would by end of day reconnect with much closer dealer to negotiate amount Speed Queen would authorize for THEM to come to help us. She would let us know by end of day or first thing the next day. There has been SILENCE. NO RHEA update - attempt by me to reach RHEA led to a totally contradictory conversation with a different Speed Queen rep who didn’t offer her name. That call went so wrong I hung up on her and got sick to my stomach. I was told no Speed Queen Supervisors take direct calls from customers. They only call back 48-72 hours from request. The trouble with that protocol is most sales contracts can be voided within 72 hours. So Speed Queen designed their customer care division to aid dealers not actual end users. So no Speed Queen supervisor ever called. No oversight happens for cases either - no followup email or customer care at all from Speed Queen. The end user is just left WONDERING and WAITING consequentially building less and less confidence in the branch/manufacturer.

      @@ponderrosie4975 Good afternoon! We’re going to try to respond to each part of your message. To start, each retailer will have their own policies and procedures they follow, and we cannot and would not be able to force them into providing someone service. However, we have regularly reached out to servicers or dealers to see if we can reach an agreement to have repairs completed even if they did not sell the product or if its outside of their regular service area. So, there are always options! You can find servicers in your area by visiting speedqueen.com/support/find-service/. If you see one saying “self-servicing” this would be a store that only services machines purchased from their location. So, you’d want to look for one listed as “full servicing”. Moving the machine would not itself void the warranty, but we do request that the shipping material be reinstalled during transit to prevent damage to the machine. If this is missed, the warranty may not be applicable for that repair if the machine became damaged during transit because this is not a failure resulting from a defect in material or workmanship. All our washers include two control boards, including the TC5, and the warranty on these parts would match the standard warranty that comes with each machine (TR7 = 7-year warranty, TR5 = 5-year warranty, TR3 = 3-year warranty, etc.) All of our machines will also have 4 leveling legs (one in each corner, two in front and two in back) that will need to be adjusted at install to ensure the machine is level. Generally this isn’t something that has to be redone, but if you notice excess vibrations we’d definitely check that first. We’re not sure what box they were talking about on the TR7000 so cannot say for sure if the TC5000 has this or not, but we currently have no record of any known design flaws in our machines. If you are still needing support with your machine currently, please reconnect to our Customer Support Line at 800-552-5475, Monday to Friday (8:30am - 4pm Central Standard Time) for us to further assist.

    I have only gotten to :20 and already have an issue with this video. You see, I bought a SPEED QUEEN AWNE92SP113 8-9 yrs ago. Last week it stopped working. COMMUNICATION ERROR. We called the authorized dealer who sold it to us. They sent their authorized repairman. In the end, the repairman didn't do any diagnostic work at all and told us one of the boards had gone bad. Repair would cost $500 for bottom board. Left the door open it may be the top board - he couldn't be sure! (so much for expertise!) We decided to buy a new one. Went to same dealer. You are showing COLD WATER setting on this comparison???? Dealer told us to NEVER USE COLD WATER only OR ECO CYCLE because the first will shorten life of new TR7003WW we bought and the later will not clean clothes! My much loved Speed Queen bought 8-9 years ago cost $800. the new TR7003 cost $1500! I have learned from family the MAYTAG can do COLD only loads! Many of the girls in my family bought Speed Queen washers after I raved about mine. I never had to buy a new dryer. Still have my original dryer I bought when I married. It is a Kenmore. Still going strong 30+ years. The girls who bought dryers have all bought Maytags because the warranty is better than Speed Queen (we all try to buy commercial grade major appliances because they normally last longer. Sad to say the old Speed Queen died way too soon. And the new machine was delivered defective. And it was a truly horrible ordeal that ended with us having ZERO washing machines. The dealer took back the defective one and we were told we could go there tomorrow to pick up our check. We were return customers yet we were mistreated from the moment we called for service for the original machine. The serviceman claimed he called SPEED QUEEN. SPEED QUEEN had no record of it. The costs of the parts differed greatly from what dealer told us and what SPEED QUEEN told us. The new machine was damaged either when made or while in the hands of the dealer. It was not properly braced for transit from the store to our home. It was not properly leveled when delivered. The installers filled half the tub with hot water, shut the lid and left. The installers while hooking the new one up told us the "new SPEED QUEEENs have a lid lock that is very fragile, routinely breaks, the part is easy to replace and doesn't cost a lot!" The new machine didn't clean the first load correctly (5 pair of khakis) and the second load tried the next day didn't complete. During the middle or latter part of the rinse cycle the machine stopped and an error code happened. The code was not in the owners manual but found online. 'unlevel load". The load was a med. load of socks and t-shirts. It looked level to both hubby and myself. Dealer was immediately called. He had the opportunity to show he cared about what he sold and giving people what they paid for and simply offering to replace the defective/damaged machine. It was a floor model. We had been told it was first quality. And we paid for first quality. BUT instead he showed no interest in keeping us as customers and at every turn chose to make all as difficult as possible for us. The same goes for SPEED QUEEN customer care. They actually lied to us! As I write this I am without any machine at all. The dealer has both now! We had no reason to hope our old machine was properly cared for - no brace was used for it as it was removed from our home. And the repairman for this local store is zero for 2 when it comes to actually being able to diagnose what is wrong.

      Um where in the video did you saw that they unplugged the Maytag? I've already seen these Maytags break while under warranty. I don't think Speed Queen EVER unplugged the Maytag.

    First of all the whistling is annoying. Second, it only took ONE POUND of laundry to send my Speed Queen into a vibrational frenzy

      Bull! Fake News. I've had one for 10 years, never danced, thumped or vibrated once, no matter how I load it. I doubt you own one.
