I think its awesome that you made it that YOUR couch. Really added some value to it. I would love to watch sewing videos on how you made those lovely pillows!
Haha! I think I love you! I think I am you! I’m about to paint my half pleather half sued couch that I couldn’t give away on Facebook market! My cat barfed on it a few times and scratched all the pleather to hell and back! It’s a HUGE sectional! Am I insane? Probably. But you are so right. There is something special about making an old gross thing beautiful by using your creative abilities, sweat and tears. Thanks for the inspiration!
I’m about to paint my couch white and use your video to help me do this;will give you an update! Thanks for sharing you did a great job and answered most of my questions.
Lol, you are so funny. I love it!! You made me a subscriber. I was having a not so great day until this video made me chuckle more than a few times. Thank you, beautiful. God bless you ❤️
You are beyond adorable... in fact this video ought to be viral! I have a sectional almost identical to your sofa and after watching this... I believe I'll use the "crevice drying time" to meditate lol
Hahahahaha my gawd ur great!! I just picked up a used white pleather couch and it has some issues lol but i love it so i am going to take your advice and go for it and bring it back to its original beauty. Thank for your inspiration, absolutely love your video.
I sincerely appreciate the explaination of mistakes/issues, that is priceless for a first timer. As well as, answering most questions for a new DIYer. One more inquiry, how much chalk paint did you use? I have 4 pieces to complete and am attempting to guess how much chalk paint to purchase. Thank you again!
Hi! Thank you so much, I'm just happy to help! (: It's been some time since I did this project, so I'm not too sure how much I used exactly, but it was no more than one quart of paint. Especially considering I watered down my paint before I started, you should be safe starting out with a quart.
How long did you have your sofa? How did it hold up? Did it eventually crack? I have a black corner sofa but want a white one. Don't know if it wreck my sofa tho I can't find anyone that kept their sofa long enough to see if it cracked or not
Hi there! Unfortunately, I don't have the couch any longer, but I did make an update video about a month later. Sorry I can't be more helpful! ua-cam.com/video/6SKfTDMhJm4/v-deo.html&lc=UgwD-Zui9Dl5q0ie-gh4AaABAg
The brand: Farmhouse Paint ... is the best! No need for Waxing after painting because Farmhouse Paint brand has Primer & Sealer in the Paint. Dries quickly!
Nice love the idea. I have red leather couch and want to paint it instead of getting rid of it but the leather is tearing do you think that’s a problem
Hi Craig! Thanks so much for checking it out! (: I don't have any experience with this, but I looked into it and it seems like, depending on the tearing, you could try to repair it and then paint over the repair. Or if it's peeling, you may be able to sand it down a bit to where it's smooth, and then paint over that. Hopefully that helps! Would love to hear how it goes! (:
Haha! Thank you so much!! (: You should go for it!! Just learn from my mistakes and be sure to thoroughly clean your couch beforehand and have plenty of chalk paint lol! Good luck if you go through with it! ❤️
This is amazing!! We have an old brown leather couch and I'm thinking about doing this!! did the white chalk paint cover well the first time or did you feel like you had to go over it again?xxx
Hi Molly!! I’m glad you like it and so excited to see you want to try it out yourself! So, I did just post an update video to show some cracking that occurred, which if I get the chance I will go over again. Other than that though, by using a ton of thin layers of chalk paint, I got really great coverage. My advice would just be to make sure you’re going to have enough chalk paint for the whole couch lol
Oh my gosh, you are way too sweet!! (: So happy you enjoyed the video, thanks so much!! I unfortunately don't have the couch anymore because we've redecorated the living room quite a bit since filming this video.
Thank so much!! Oh wow, have you considered making your own chalk paint?? I'm sure there are some recipes online you can find using regular paint and some other ingredients (:
Naima ASA, Be certain to research first. One of the ingredients commonly used ( not sure, but think it was calcium bicarbonate), turns out to be toxic when mixed into paint. Turns out that pure talc is best for best coverage. There is a gal who made a video about it here on UA-cam. Sorry, forgot her name. Best of luck. Hope it turns out great for you!
I would definitely give it a try! I actually made an update video on the couch that might help answer your questions. It seems to me, that if you prep correctly, then it should hold up just fine. And no, it doesn't feel scratchy (:
Hi Heather! Thanks for checking out the video! (: To answer both of your questions, no it does not come off on clothes and no it does not come off when wet. The decorative wax that goes over the chalk paint is what keeps those things from happening. I linked the wax that I used in the description, but there are tons of different brands you could use. Hopefully that helps! (:
I love how you & your Significant Other picked your favorite sides of the couch & enjoy it's uniqueness
I LOVED your video and being an artist myself you know there will be mistakes. It came out perfect. I’m definitely painting my leather sectional.

How is the couch now?? Wear and tear wise?
Ya did good!
My leather couch is black can I put the chalk paint first but later put up a brown dye?
Do you know how long this will last? Like will it crack in a few months? Love the idea!
Hi! Thank you! I actually made a little update video talking about this! Hopefully it helps (:
Lovee what you did there, planning to do the same to my living room leather chairs but it’s so difficult to find chalk paint where I live :(

I would have like to have seen a pic of the couch. not a small shot of it
What wax did you use?
Here's the link: thd.co/2xy2a4I It's Behr's Decorative Finish Wax, but I think really any wax for chalk paint would do the trick.
Can you send me a picture after 1 year painted .thanks
I won't risk painting my chesterfield ..better leave it to the pro...it's not like a lego dollhouse makeover 😉
Haha!! Oh no, I wouldn't mess with the natural beauty of a chesterfield either!
