OMG! $75 is a steal for all three pieces! They turned out beautiful.
I painted two recliners with Sherwin Williams latex paint and a fabric medium added to the paint. I used the wetting method and did two coats. It has held up over seven years!
Fabric medium?
I have 2 beautiful light sea green chairs which I love but don’t work with my decor ….can you list out what all you used for the paints from Sherwin Williams ….I would love to give it a shot
I wonder if fabric medium is fabric softener. I have seen people here on utube use it?
did you buy new foam for the seats. the chair cushion looked in need when you started????
@@kathleenbrown6734it is fabric softener
Waverly chalk paint, is inexpensive, and ACTUALLY works better than the expensive SUSAN SLOAN paint, using this method. Your furniture turned out beautifully! Thank you!
Annie Sloan you mean?
Love it! Did this to my $30 thrifted tufted sofa and it worked great. I sealed it with wax and it was soft but a little more like leather or vinyl feeling. When we screened in our porch I put it out there and it works perfectly! The wax makes the fabric stain, mold, and mildew resistant. Almost like outdoor furniture!
I think I’m going to go ahead and add the wax!
What kind of wax did you use?
What kind of wax did you use? I painted a chair but I didn't put wax on it.
Take 1/4 C vinegar to 3/4 C of olive oil and mix together. Wipe the wood part over with this mixture and you will be surprised at how it transforms old scratched up stain! I’ve done it on several things and it’s amazing.
Love your little boys. I have four boys and they are the joy of my life. Count your blessings and value every moment; they grow so fast. I am going to try this on a couch I have. Thanks.
Looks really nice! I was blessed and given a sofa and two chairs in this same style for free. I was planning on reupholstering but I think I will try painting now. A family members grandmother died and no one wanted the living room set bc it was "not in style" or "old lady looking". It was going to be put for the trash to pick up. I love it
These turned out SO beautiful! This style of furniture is timeless
Thank you! I’m so happy with them
Yes!!!
Yes, soooo nice 👍🏻
I just saw a couch similar design but pattern fabric at a good will for $40.

I followed debis design dairy from here on YT, to paint my chair. I used her clay paint, which is free of any toxins and the colors are amazing. Turned out great. Not crunchy or hard. Once you get over that initial panic of “oh my, what am I even doing” and just go with it, it’s a lot of fun to watch the transformation.
I recently saw someone who used fabric softener mixed in the water and in the paint to make the fabric soft. I've been thinking about painting my old thrift store sofa but don't want to make it worse than it is now. 😕 Decisions, decisions...never easy for me to make!
Awesome 👏 thank you
Debi has had the most success with dyeing fabric imo. Her paint is so pigmented and makes a great fabric dye. I love her paint, hands down the best out there!
Lolly Lolly you are absolutely correct. And I also use the spray bottle from the turquoise iris. Those ladies are such gifted artist.
I totally used her technique to redye my sofa, so good!!
OMGERSH! Beautifully done! This looks like my Gramma's! She painted hers back in the day and ppl thought she was nuts. She was waaay before her time! God rest her soul. xo
Go grandma! 💕
You will love it, I painted a breakfast settee four years ago in white. Cleans up like a dream. Great for kiddos
I had a friend that painted her living room chairs. She did not use chalk paint, but paint meant for fabric (t-shirts, etc.) and it turned out beautiful! Your furniture set is gorgeous!! I've never been crazy about that style....but after seeing yours, I LOVE it!!! Your home is just beautiful!
They turned out Beautiful! I Love the color. Nice job. $75 for the pieces & $100 for the paint to get these results is exceptional. I think it's worth sticking with the quality supplies
WOW the end result blew me away!
So nice to see you here on Lisa's channel Julia! Just thought I'd comment since I follow you as well small world. :D
@@caitlinaddle9654 haha thanks! I love Lisa's channel. :)
Heirloom Traditions paint is great for painting upholstery. It goes on smoothly and has great coverage.
You have the best taste! I love everything about your house and particularly respect that you do it all on a budget. It's easy to make a home look nice with an unlimited budget but you have curated the most beautiful spaces with true vision and talent. 💖
Well thank you so much!
Love how the kiddies were interested.
That living room rug is beautiful.
I never heard of painting upholstered furniture. It looks beautiful! 😀
Thanks so much! I am inspired...I have an almost 30 year old traditional sectional in a tapestry which could easily last 200 years but I am tempted now to create a different look in my family room. At least, you've given me something to think about!!!
The results were totally unexpected. Having seen decorating show from 10+ years ago where they painted the couches and made the fabric hard I was not expecting these results. They look beautiful and soft. Great job!
Such a sweet bunch of helpers. Your blessed.
Your helper is such a cutie and hard worker. Your finished results look wonderful.
That's really nice I'm not alone.. I painted my box spring because it was a different color from the mattress but they were new. First I power washed it because I had a split box spring for a queen. Then I took some very watery peach-colored paint. It seems fine it's not like I touch it all the time. I would say it's a little bit less soft to the touch. I'm glad I'm not alone
I am so impressed. Couldn't imagine painting upholstery. They turned out beautifully.
I LOVE this! I just recently bought two of these almost exact same chairs in the same color!!! To go into our 1890 farm house....Mine were $50 each, but still! I’m so going to do this!! Thank you!!
Oh Lisa you are so great to watch! If only I was young again.... I'd be all over this look! I was confused before I watched, how beautiful are they now?!?! LOVE them. The colour is gorgeous and goes so nicely with your rug. I'm looking forward to all your DIYs to come!
the 3rd couch if staged nice can look like a 1920s style home I love you di it white against that dark wood and the cushions and comfy looking blanket is very posh but comfort
I have to say Lisa you are looking so well rested lately!!!! You look so refreshed!!!
Super fun! Definitely will need an update on the wear and tear with littles. Loved the color too and think it would look very French it you painted the wood a distressed white. 😘 Très chic, bravo.
Wow 75 bucks for the set...beautiful! And they are in such great condition!
for the condition of it and the fabric intact.. The set was free.
That’s a french provincial. Easily worth $500 and up in the state she got it.
Your little helpers, so sweet. So blessed. I love how they turned out. I tried this on a foot stool. I wish I'd had your video at the time. Once it dried and i could still see the previous color, I figured I had did it wrong. And I gave up...maybe too soon. Thank you for sharing this.
Ahhhh I would’ve thought the same !! Would’ve never in a million years thought about the “soaking in” factor and the necessary water, etc. Maybe it’s still not too late for you to “fix” it now ??
@@kimberlybellefontaine1215 :) I winded up tossing it. Bummer.
HAPPILY HOMESCHOOLING IN IOWA awww :(
I LOVE it a lot! This is something people who pay thousands for! I see these on Pinterest too, they’re gorgeous! And the best part is that it matches the style and era of your home. Fabulous job!🌺
thank you so much!
I've watched this twice... first time last year (summer I think) and again today. Reinspired me to get my fabric dining chairs done. :)
I, too, have wanted to do this. My issue has been the furniture I want to paint is from my family, and I didn't want to ruin it. Thanks for the tips!
I would have never thought to paint the fabric. It’s absolutely gorgeous!
Yes $75.00 was a steal for those three pieces and it look gorgeous
thank you! I'm excited about them
wow that's incredible that u can paint upholstered furniture, u did a great job. I am eager to see more DIY's. Many Blessings
It looks powder blue and is very beautiful
Goes with rug and walls perfectly
Beautiful. Like the dark wood trim. This is such an awesome project.
Wow! I must say that I am so surprised at how beautiful your furniture looks. I have seen this done on blogs before but I just didn't believe that it wouldn't be crunchy. I have followed you long enough to trust what you say. I can't wait to see what you do with your living room.
Love your little helpers
Yes, Debi Beard from Debis Design Diary. She also painted her couch, I believe a teal color years ago . Yours looks fantastic , and what a great price, for all 3 pieces.👍 TFS😊😊
Annette Thrall Have you seen the black settee she did? It’s unreal!
Cynthia Fisher Tes I did, that was awesome also😊
💙As always with your finds- "I WANT THAT"!!! 💙I love the beautiful furniture ensemble! Thank-you for the researched info, and for the tutorial!💙 Your little helpers- are adorable!!!💙
Great idea. I have heard this done before. But no one has ever really talked about it. Thanks so much.
You are so motivating! I can't believe how much time and effort you spend on your home. It shows!! Beautiful home and furnishings. I am inspired by you - thank you!
I think it's fabulous, see if scotch guard will work over it. Best DIY , I have gray velvet chesterfield couches and have not seen any of these cool antiques in my area. I just love my couches. Those couches are amazing, and what a deal 🙋🏻
Oh scotch guard, that’s a great idea!
It looks FANTASTIC!!!! I seen this before but thought it would be crunchy to sit on but I am so glad you did a video on it. It look fantastic in your room. The furniture decided what color it was going to be & I am glad you left it that way😉
YOU have inspired me to go ahead and jump right on in and paint up the upholstered willow furniture. Thank you! Bren
Beautifully done! Thank you for sharing 💯🌷🌷🌺😊
Pretty chairs and sofas that now look even prettier with that pretty green. Great job they look beautiful in your living room x
At this price its a steal deal .... That is a striking update.. Nice transformation . Great work 👍
Random idea you may have thought of already. What if you reupholstered the back, bottom. and cushion in a similar color, dream velvet? Basically reupholster the 'easy' parts, and leave your cool, painted area where it's the complicated back with buttons. Think the two materials would look amazing.
Hi Lisa, I'm brand new to your channel. I had seen these pieces in one of your more recent videos and I would never in a million years have guessed that you painted them. Watching this video in the close up the fabric painted looks exactly like a beautiful damask, which I love.
Wow! I absolutely love how that turned out. Great color choice, I really hope these last you a long time. Great job.
Love the painted furniture. It turned out beautiful.
Wow, awesome Lisa! Beautiful.
Do the couch that turned out beautiful and to have all of it together with the same color and doing the trim in a antique walnut would look amazing you did a awesome job thank I for sharing
Wow! They are beautiful in your space. A thought, you could put the couch in your living room and put the love seat at the bottom of your bed. I can’t remember how much space you have in your bedroom. I’m sure your room will be beautiful either way.
Amazing, Looks really good. Unbelievable.
So beautiful and I would have never dreamed you could paint upholstery!! Awesome job!!
Absolutely beautiful
Its so pretty ,love it..I m thinking about doing mine...we live in a 1870 farm house
That is wonderful furniture to work with lucky you and really good job!
Who would have thought of painting your upholstery?? WOW, my first thought was paint flaking off and rubbing off on your clothes as I had never heard of this before. It is awesome, I cannot believe that it is possible, and your project has come out fabulous. Thank you so much for sharing this. I am learning a lot from you x I am a new sub.
Love the original colour
Love the set. And the new color. Great find
Furniture looks great hat color.
Thank you! I have a sofa I love but the color is so 2000s. Beautiful outcome!
Lisa, wow! I read about this process in the Jeanne D´Arc Living magazine, and I thought, no way, this can´t be working... Thought, oh my, they are ruining old pieces... But now I saw it here, saw you doing that "live", and I am absolutely flashed! And this colour, oh, it is so elegant and matches perfectly. 75 $...? This is a dream, Lisa! I am so happy for you, you really deserve it. Love your channel, greetings from Germany from Méa
I did a chair about seven years ago. It was pretty.
Amazing.
First time i know that you can paint you'r Sofa.
Thanks.
They turned out beautifully.
I love how they turned out!
Beautiful ❤️ I did my dining room chairs a couple of years ago they have held up well I used beher chalk paint I then distressed the wood trim and used white wax
I wish I would’ve hold on to my vintage living room, I sold it about a year ago I did think of chalk painting it! Yours came out great!
I love it! They look fantastic and so much better than that yellow! And they go so well in your Victorian style farmhouse! 👍🏻😍👍🏻😍
Yes. I also like the new colour. ❤️
Just beautiful
This turned out beautiful. I have a vintage gossip chair I was going to recover. Think I'll try this first.
They look beautiful
Turned out awesome.
Wow never knew of painting sofa love it
There's turned out beautiful! Love the style of the furniture! Great job Lisa.
Wow!! I love 😍 that color! How beautiful! What a deal!
I love vintage furniture, turned out excellent! 🇺🇸🇬🇧🇵🇰👍🏻❤️
Love the technique and the color👍
Never think I would do this either! Love the pieces you purchased. Looking forward to seeing the update.
They look amazing! You would never know that they were painted! Job well done! You are so creative ☺️💝!
You know Lisa, those throw pillows sure would look good in your favorite velvet fabric with tassels... And then I'd know how to make some for my living room :)
Yes, those pillows were awful on that Victorian sofa, I'm sure they are not staying.
I don't think it's awful! It's just looking at the first step of her new living room and watching her processing what she has in mind moving forward using what she has, right? ...I'm just selfishly hoping for a tasseled pillow diy
This was so helpful Lisa, I now have the courage to attempt this. Thanks:)
Wow it’s gorgeous, so happy you shared this 🤗👍🏻👏🏻💕
Such gorgeous furniture! I was given a similar style sofa by my sister but the upholstery was very pale and tired. I painted it light green. It's not perfectly even but it has a timeworn look that fits it and my decor, so I was cool with it. It is just slightly not quite right but I don't care. This is sooo gorgeous!
De France ....👏👍👌Bravo ...
Wow Lisa, The painting came out beautifully!!! It looks great.
I saw this technique a few years ago.. truthfully, I was thinking lady what are you doing..
I’ve been following you for a long time now and I have faith in your claims ☺️
Take care, Chris-Raleigh NC
Oh Lisa! It's so beautiful. You are lucky to find this bargain. Just an idea, if you like the wood tone you can use Old English or Murphy's Oil soap to clean and bring out the wood. Thanks for sharing with us. Excited to see what's next.
The pieces are lovely!
I like the color of the wood
I really love this! Even with the cost of paint, still $175 for 3 pieces is great!
I totally agree!
So no fabric softener ?
no...here is exactly what I used..www.farmhouseonboone.com/how-to-chalk-paint-upholstery-antique-sofa-makeover
