Clean it with rubbing alcohol to clean it before you paint leather. And yes you nailed it, the prep work is worth the effort! It’s important to use rubbing alcohol to clean it because normal leather cleaner will have oils in them and that will make the paint not stick for sure.

Thanks for sharing your videos!! I am making my own chalk paint but I am adding fabric softener to it to paint my large brown ( ugh) chair. Not leather, But corduroy!
You are just too adorbs!!! 🤗 I watched your other video also. 💜 I've watched a few videos now on how to paint leather and/or material furniture and it is important to clean the leather bits with rubbing alcohol (apparently). You can use regular paint (as you did), but it should be matte. Most seem to add fabric softener to it as well (about 2/3 cup paint and 1/3 cup fabric softener) and do it it 1 cup batches. I too have a dark leather couch (with suede parts 🙄) and you have inspired me to be brave and just go for it! Wish me luck! 🤞🙂

Thank you for sharing this update! I watched your other video last night (you are SO funny btw!) and it really inspired me to want to tackle my brown chair! I've been experimenting with chalk paint for a while now, but had NO IDEA you can use it on fabric! I like this idea MUCH better than just throwing a slip cover on the chair and changing the texture (my boyfriend prefers the leather) and I like a good DIY project :) Thank you for the inspiration and the update, this is REALLY helpful!!!! I've seen a few videos of the painting process but not much updates, which are the TRUE test of these projects! Really can't say thank you enough!

You needed to clean it with alcohol 99 percent then u had ro sand it a bit so the paint can grab better then wipe it with a cloth a bit wet, then you could paint your sofas. Im going to paint my sofa soon. Im almost finishing my upper cabinets in the kitchen. Good luck sweetie...
