Great job n great video. Thanks for all putting this out there. QUICK QUESTION what is the name of the color of the valspar paint?
Thank you so much for watching and commenting! There isn’t a name because I got a formula of mine matched but I did include the formula in the video
Totally inspired to try this out! What grit sandpaper was the sanding you block you used after the painting was finished? And would you recommend sanding before painting as well?
Thank you so much! That makes me happy! I used 400 grit after sanding to get a soft texture. And I would sand before if you have any rough spots on the leather because painting it will only make it more prominent if not sanded at all.
What is color of paint again?
OMGosh this is exactly what I’m looking for, however I have white leather sectional and it is one unit(no loose cushions) I want to change the color and add stuffing to the sitting area, any suggestions. Thank you and I’m going to try this very soon but I’ll have to watch your video a couple more time as this will be Mary very first ever project painting , I want so much to get this right. You did a fantastic job, keep it up. Thanks again!!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I really hope this video helps! I think the ottoman tops will help with cushions that aren’t removable. Make sure you clean it really good before painting. And moisturizer after your done painting is a must to keep the Inter gritty of the leather. When adding stuffing, add to the back of the cushion so you don’t get lumps… I actually lay my couch on its back regularly and jump on it to even out the stuffing when it’s looking a little saggy.. I hope any of that helps and of course if you have any further questions.. please ask.
This video was super helpful, what color did you use?
Thank you so much for saying so and watching my video! I used my own formula. It is included in the video! If you have trouble finding it just say so and I’ll send it through here☺️
Do you put anything in the little green when you use it to clean the couch in the beginning?
So happy you guys sold it!!
I put the recommended solutions that it came with in the water and then clean as directed!😊
I just found this exact couch on marketplace and need to make these same repairs! I’m so glad I came across your video. Do you know what the color match was for the paint you used?
My color match is showcased in the video. If you have any trouble at all finding it I am happy to find it and reply with the answer. Thank you so much for commenting! And I really hope this helps!😊
Could you use the all in one for a vinyl couch that is a chocolate color to a tan?
If I can use it on leather I think you can definitely use it on vinyl! Happy painting! Thank you for watching and commenting!
With a couch that isn’t peeling (still in good condition) do you recommend using the sponge or sand it still?
What did you mix with the paint to make it more moveable?
I would clean off the coating with acetone and then proceed to paint. And you can add water to make it more moveable. Using a sponge roller will prevent brush strokes in your finished product. Then make sure to moisturize after you’re completely done. No oil or body residue at all helps with the adhereing of the paint
Has anyone tried this with vinyl? I found some MCM vinyl barrel chairs that I want to change the color on. I suppose there wouldn't be as much prep work since the vinyl has a smoother texture?
I would still use a stripper similar to the acetone to clean it to make sure you get a good layer on there that won’t peel
I'm going to reproduce your project for my own coach in Lima Peru, so once it is done, I'm going to send you some pics. Thank you!
Wow! I’m so excited to see. Thank you so much for watching and I look forward to hearing how it went for you!
Am wondering if the paint would work well on this desktop, that is discolored mostly due to wear.
As long as you prep your surface… then use the paint.. then seal it even though it’s supposed to be an all in one… but because it’s probably going to be a heavily used area you will want the extra protection
Looks great hard work an lots of time but the finish is a great job, have u a link to the leather paint please x
Thank you so much! I can definitely do that

Was the sanding after painting necessary? I'm confused why the need to sand before applying the finishing gloss? Thanks. Ur couches look AMAZING!!!
To get the desired texture I wanted from the couch the sanding was needed. And thank you so much for watching!
Love the outcome!! I am a bit confused. In this description the paint and htp leather &vinyl compound isn’t listed in your description, unless I have completely missed it. I was just wondering if you could tell me the “all in one paint” you used. I think I read sherwin Williams but the can was Valspar. I know that’s a sherwin Williams brand but I am wanting to do this and get so nervous to buy the wrong product 😆😆
Thank you so much! I looked and I think I may have forgotten to include them in the description as well. I used valspar reserve all in one paint and got my paint color formula added to a can at the store for my couch color. And make sure to watch my video following this one about my couch paint likes and dislikes so that you can learn from my mistakes! Thank you so much for watching and commenting! I hope you subscribed and I look forward to any further questions.
I was wondering the exact same thing! I was really confused!! Thank you!!
the products used in this video is VERY confusing. So many different paints are mentioned in the audio and in the description. The repair compound was from htp all-in-one paint but I'm still confused if the paint was or not. She said she got her color mixed at a store, so that would make it seem to me that she wasn't using all-in-one paint.
Hey 👋🏾 Great job! Where do you sell the furniture?
Thank you! I sell them on FBMP
The compound that you used scored poorly on durability in the reviews that I read & I was wondering what your perspective is in that regards? Also what are your thoughts on doing one coat of chalk paint followed by a coat of all in one? Would they work well together and do you think a base coat of chalk would enable to skip the sanding process? If chalk was used followed by all in one, do you think it would scratch easily like using only chalk or do you think that it would be more durable like using only all in one? Thanks!!!!
Well because I used such small amounts to repair the peeling then used the all in one on top of that… it was amazingly durable after.. I put the cushions through the ringer to make sure the next owners would be happy long term. I actually mixed chalk base into the all in one and thinned out the mixture a bit and that process needed more coats but came out more even and prevented having to sand if at all. Because the call is porous, putting all in one on top would probably work just as well since the hold on the fabric would be similar to it you put it directly onto the fabric without the chalk paint.
@@SHYSDESIGNS Restoring the exact same couch except my ottoman opens; How much did you mix the chalk paint with the all in one?
@@joeygross7417 I mixed in two scoops and the amount of water it asks for. It’s just enough the slack the paint so it doesn’t dry too fast and leave paint lines
Do you have a link for the fiebings leather lotion? I can't find it anywhere! 😢all I see is leather sheen and resolene? Will either of these work?
I’m pretty sure I got the leather lotion at Michael’s but if you are unable to find it I have another leather lotion that I love just as much if not more. I will link it

Looks beautiful
But i don't know about using the paint
Honestly I was weary about using paint as well but if not paint then I would have had to replace the leather and that was not something I wanted to do. And the buyers bought the couch based on this video so I don’t think I would change a thing about how this went because it turned out beautiful and it’s holding up amazingly and the repairs and touch ups are super easy!
Did you say that you were going to combine the chalk paint with the all-in-one paint!? Getting ready to do my own sofa and love seat so would love to know that!
I loved qualities from both so I was thinking of combining the all in one paint with chalktique powder with a little bit more water to help loosen the paint so it floods and dreads a bit better.
Have u tried on micro suede couch?
I have not. But I did watch a video where they added fabric softener to the mix for suede and it looked like it turned out well.
What is the wax finish for?
Seal the paint and protect the leather
I'm pretty sure I have this exact sectional ( but I inherited it with a big scratched up area from large dogs on the seat area- I'm not too concerned about it- I just wouldn't know how to fix that part really) Maybe I'm wrong- but the seat cushions are fixed on mine- how did you get them off?
The more I'm watching- I'm certain it's the same sectional so I'm super excited to see what you do and also SOOOOO IMPRESSED with all of your hard work!! WOW!! If I can figure out what to do with these torn parts on the corners of the ottoman from a cat I was keeping and the scratches on the seat from the former dog owner, I'm going to do all of this just as you are showing!
Thank you so much for watching my video and commenting.. definitely had me smiling and laughing. The seat cushions weren’t fixed on this one so I’m not 100% on how you would get fixed ones off (I can look into that though)
And thank you so much for having such kind things to say♥️ I hope this video helps and of course if you have any questions you can reach me here in the comments or dm my Instagram page!
And for scratches.. you can use a soft grit sand paper/sponge and sand it down gently until smooth and then repair with the leather repair cream or if it isn’t damaged then paint or stain right over it! 😊 should work like a charm
What compound did you use?
It was a compound for leather from allinonepaint
Hey I was thinking of doing this myself I was wondering how is the quality of the paint on the material, does it chip , or crack
As long as you treat the paint as you would a leather couch and condition every few months you should be golden with keeping the paint and couch conditioned and looking gorgeous as the day you painted it
@@SHYSDESIGNS thank you for the response, I’m definitely going to try with the furniture my mom gives me. You did really well ‼️💪🏽
@@chazbchaz5036 of course! I hope it helps😊 thank you so much for watching and be sure to tag me in your projects once you get started! I can’t wait to see them!
What did you use to thin the paint?
I use water based paint so I can mix in the chalk mixer that is water based
Hi im looking for the all in one paint u used in your item lists which I can't find
Valspar all in one paint. The formula and barcode for the paint are in the video to use when you go to the hardware store for a match😊
@@SHYSDESIGNS and also where can I get the bond putty?
Heirloom traditions website
I thought only this company called "heirloom traditions paint" were the ones who sells all in one paint. But is good to know that I could walk to the stores and look at it. Thanks
What is the exact brown colour paint you used for the couch? I know you said they mixed it for you at Lowe's. Want to duplicate the colour. Love it!
I made the color at home and got it matched but I can definitely find a color that is either super closer or exact match for you!😊 thank you so much for watching my video and commenting! I will reach out soon!

@@deltanaturals looking through all of lowes color choices I would say this color is pretty close “Antiquarian Brown”
@@SHYSDESIGNS Thank you!! 👍👍😊😊
@@deltanaturals of course! Any time!
What is the name of the color you used.
I created the color myself. The formula is included in the video
Ho how has it held up? Did it crack please? I can't find anybody that will give a update
That is an excellent question! I haven’t checked in with the couple for a while, but I will reach out to them, and see how the couch has held up. I will reach out to you soon with an update. ♥️
Yeah I’m wondering the same thing, the painter at Lowe’s recommended to not do this cause it will crack and come off because it’s not scientifically made for soaking into a leather material
@@brooklyn7405 yeah I kind of thought it would
19:00 did the buyer know you used latex based interior paint?
The buyer watched the entire video and bought the couch because of the video. So yes they did know.
How does this wear?
I wish I knew that 100% but I would like to assume well because you can tough up as you go, as long as you moisturize like regular leather you should be able to get similar wear like well taken care of leather.
Its been a while now.. any issues with it that you can pass on to us
I wish I had a true update of the couch but since I sold it I haven’t heard from the buyers. I would hope it is still in great condition. Based on the treatment I gave it before I sold it I would imagine it’s doing and wearing fine.
How much does something like this cost?
To commission someone to do it for you or for you to DIY?
My name is hassan ..I am from Pakistan..
Hi there! Thank you so much for watching my videos and commenting 😊
@@SHYSDESIGNS well come
Why not just use leather dye or recoloring kit actually made for leather?
Because of the condition the leather was in made that option moot unfortunately
Decent hack but i would not use those paints.. use a legit leather paint like rub and restore.
When the leather is no longer there because of wear it is impossible to use those. That’s why I used the paint I did. Thanks anyways.
a 20-minute ad
I am sorry WHY would anyone PAINT a leather chair or sofa dye is MADE for leather
It made more sense for a leather sofa that is damaged
I just found this exact couch on marketplace and need to make these same repairs! I’m so glad I came across your video. Do you know what the color match was for the paint you used?
The color match is in the video. And I can find it as well if you have any trouble at all
