The TRUTH About Bass Fishing The Fall Transition!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 29 вер 2024
- It's not always easy to catch bass during the transition! Come along as Tim heads out on a lake he hasn't been to in a while. He starts with total confidence but almost immediately finds himself pulling out finesse gear to get bass to bite. The Fall Transition can be really difficult until you locate groups of fish, but it's still worth doing because the hard work now sets you up for awesome Fall bass fishing!
Tim put in some serious work today! What started as big baits and topwater ended with a dropshot and Karashi. It doesn't matter what they're eating, as long as you adapt and figure out how to catch them. The key to these tough days is continuing to search. Bass are on the move and when you locate them, you can follow them through the entire Fall. If you don't locate them now, you'll be struggling later as well, even though the bite is wide open. Put in your time, find the fish, and enjoy it in the months to come!
Below you'll find links to the exact baits and gear Tim used throughout the video. We've included the exact bait colors, rigging components, etc. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

I think fast forwarding through dry stretches is so much better than cutting. Not only are you keeping it realistic and transparent. But it's also very beneficial to see how you're working the bank and covering water at what pace. Also good for casuals confidence like mine to see people experiencing the same struggles.
Got to pay our dues ~ Early this week I had A Day - Yesterday, same lake, not so much. These trips are what make the banner days so special. Stay Safe.
You got that right!
Real talk
@@jdubya3498 R.Kelly! 🤣🤣
Grinder days are most of mine. It builds character
It definitely makes you appreciate the great days!
This is so cool we get to see how you actually work those baits❤❤❤❤❤game changer we all have been waiting for 🎉
I hate throwing a drop shot so much. Its just so boring
Great video not to many big channels show the struggle bus that average anglers have its nice to see im not the only one...🎣
Love the body cam footage. Gives us a different perspective. Nice to see what you’re seeing when you fish
Stunning video, Timm. The only issue for me is that i will only be able to afford the Curado and nothing more as a teaching living in South Africa. G. Loomis is WAY above what we can afford along with some of the others here. Will have to wait for my pension in 9 years time to buy it but in the meantime still loving my cheaper slx, Shimano Calisto, Banax Bloodline and cheaper Shimano rods. Few spinning combos from Daiwa and 13 fishing, rately used. Great channel!!
Sounds like you have a great lineup! Thank you!
Not at all. The dream is still the metanium 100mgl paired with an expride rod. On another note, i jokingly said to Matt Stephan that he should bring his boys with you and Tyler Berger and your sons for a friendly challeng. Should be lots of fun.@@tacticalbassin
I was catching them off secondary points with a dropshot 2.3 keitech nose hooked.
If I wanted to try for a bigger fish would you throw bare swimbait or maybe underspin?
Last two trips.. pretty much a skunk fest. and i'm talking LONG days.
Today I hammered them.
Yes sir can relate allll too well to this 1 , I swear the more of a dry spell you go through the bigger the reward when you get that day you just crrrrush em ( was very important video good to see even the best struggle jus like me an relize those days are apart of it all )
Absolutely! Definitely makes us appreciate the great days!
Are you stationary or am I moving? This camera angle is a trip.
Awesome video as always. Do you go braid to leader on you're drop shot set up?
About how long does a transition usuallytake? Days, weeks, a month?
"What a cluster!" He's one of us!
That’s is a nice spot , got unworking for it too
Childersburg Bass Association thank you tactical bassin
I have a question for ya. Do u remove the splittings on the Karachi lures
I’m calling it early before resorting to dropshot.
I think that's the best thing about my mega Bass x bites is that I can almost tell what size of fish is Whenever I'm getting a bite it's amazing with filling. Is that I can almost tell what size of fish is? Whenever I'm getting a bite it's amazing the feeling I can actually fill my lure hit the water when I cast
I thought he should have said “Tactical difficulties “ 😂
Nice to know u guys struggle to like lol
Trust me we all can relate to the grinder days
2:15 - love that reel sound!! Another great video! Thank you!!
Been a tough bite here, 1 bass in a month
Caught my PB small mouth and Large mouth in Northern Idaho this weekend (4 lb 13oz river small mouth and 4lb 4 oz reservoir Large Mouth). Fished with a guy who loves this channel, Ive always watched the googan boys but I am loving this channel so farl! Definitely subscribed and super excited to dig into these videos
Congrats on those fish, that's awesome!! We appreciate the support as well. Welcome to the TacticalBassin family!
Random place to ask this, what tackle/lure boxes do you guys recommend? I need something where the tabs are actually held in place and aren't basically free floating to the point where the moment you flip the box over everything is all over the place.
You definitely need higher end boxes. It's going to come down to budget. Look at buzbe Basic boxes, or Plano Edge. They're at very different price points but both hold hooks, weights, Etc extremely well.
Good stuff! Glad I'm not the only one with random GoPro glitches. Been thinking about switching to DJI
Got a TN70 this week and took it out. Absolutely blasted some fish on it hopping it. Even though it was the bright red craw color they were hammering it. Definitely saw the light on this technique.
Great to hear! That is a great way to catch them!
Your day started out just like mine last week. Had to go to the drop shot which turned it into a dink fest in 20 feet of water.
It happens sometimes, especially this time of the year.
Lot more patient then I am. 😂. I want to cut my line a long time ago.
Right! I was trying to break it off lol
Best BFS Braid(s) and line/leader(s) that you’ve found yourself using or preference? Been using Sunline X~Plasma Asegai, Suffix 131 and Nanobraid,
Suspended fish at 25 to 30 feet in deeper water seem inactive. Maybe they will bite when water cools. Using dropshot with gulp minnow and hover minnows. No bites. Fish at 10 to 15 feet on humps not suspended active. Water temp 69 degrees. Any ideas anyone
Lift & reel a lipless crank in shad color on the humps....a flutter spoon perhaps...another bait, the 5" fat senko...falls quicker & could resemble a dying shad in a baitfish color
@andybales7318 thanks Andy. I have just bought a cotton cordel flutter spoon and I am going to try it out. It says on the package to let it fall on a slack line, but how do you feel if you have a bite or if you open bale and let it fall will do you look for changes in the line?
@@simbajohn1882 it's a technique that takes time to get the feel for it...I'm still not great with it, but after a couple hours started getting the feel for it...after the initial cast, let it fall straight to the bottom..if by chance u would get a bite, probably wouldn't feel it & strictly look for change in line movement...from thar point, it's just a lift up quickly & drop on a semi-slack line..I tend to use a bigger spoon than the cotton cordell & can feel it wobble as it falls..if u are using spinning, u may feel it wobbling being a smaller spoon...lift & drop semi-slack line...not an exciting technique, but surprisingly they hit it pretty hard...it also catches everything, especially if it's a smaller spoon..good luck!
Really hope you guys can find the time to sit down and do another interview with Dave Mercer! That interview was amazing and it would be really cool to hear updates and just hear another chat about everything. I know y'all busy out the wahoo but hopefully it can happen again because that was awesome! I've found myself using topwater more and more when the bite is getting tough. Along with the micro texas rig with the micro d bomb. That thing slays!
Tackle warehouse says that Mylar minnow will ship 150 days after your order it. LOL. I will forget what it looks like. 😂😂
13:53 sure got yourself in a jam..quite literally. You should try back straight off so your boat is straight with the tree- only back right off, and open your spool. All you’re doing is tightening the line around multiple limbs. The fish probably can’t come out because of the tightness of the line. Back off- let your spool free, wait… they’re smart, if you back off they’ll come out and you like will be free to hover up around the. Ranches it’s twisted around and you have a better chance to pull her out.
I’m glad to see the chest camera view is back! 😆 I’ve been watching y’all’s videos for years now (back when I first got back into fishing and didn’t know anything) and I think it’s kind of funny that I’m using baits and techniques before y’all do now😂 but I’m also glad y’all started trying osp baits, y’all should really try some of there crankbaits, they might be y’all’s new favorites. But Toshi the owner of the company and has a home in Tennessee so it would be awesome to see y’all maybe do a fishing video together!!🤘🏻🤙🏻
Hey Tim, I what reel handles did you put on your Curado BFS? They look sweet!
Just last week, I had a 4lb 4oz hooked up that buried in submerged grass 8 feet below the surface. Wacky rig with 8lb line. I positioned the boat directly above the fish and just help upward pressure for a solid 2 to 3 minutes and it finally swam back up to continue the fight. Patience in those situations is difficult but can be the difference between breaking off and landing the fish for sure.
got my first largemouth today, had two slip off at the edge of my kayak over the course of the last two weeks. feels good to finally get one. white chatterbait with a white swimbait is becoming ol reliable
Most of my days are grinder days. Yalls videos help it be less tough though and I am thankful for that!
This was more like the real world of fishing. I liked the way you followed the process. I did the same thing yesterday with the same results you had. Post front.
An old school anti-reverse off swotch can be handy at times, eh?
I thought it was going to be at least a 4lb bass ending up being 1lber
In texas the fishing is on fire 🔥 it feels like fishing in spring time
I love a good grinder video every now and then, it makes me feel better lol.
It always seems to be the case when you find a group of spots you gotta weed through them
What is the best net to buy so the hooks will be easier to get out.
Thanks for showing the tuff one Tim,can't believe that gold label held up.Great line.
Man I couldn't believe it. At one point I was trying to break it off lol
Suspended fish agt
loving the fishing content!!
1st real
Really nice job landing that fish after it hung you up in the trees. That was impressive to see.
I couldn't believe it. Ive never landed one after being hung up that long.
"What a cluster" he says 😂 I just thought that was funny. Never give up
🤣
So you show a glidebait in the thumbnail and never even pull one out in the video...
Um... it came out right in the beginning 🤷♂️
@@tacticalbassin lol I think 2 casts without even showing the bait hardly warrants adding it as the thumbnail
@@iGoVroomVroomthen start creating your own videos
@@timdarnell7819 bud get off your knees, it’s embarrassing. It’s a valid critique when they literally use clickbait
@iGoVroomVroom dude how is it clickbait for the thumbnail? You said he never even pulled out a glidebait yet he in fact did use it and literally casted it a few times in the video! Dude you need to get a life and stop whining about nothing...they don't have to cast a glidebait for the whole video you're the dimwit who said he never used one😅 you a dofus
good grinder vid, Tim. As always thanks for sharing!
You bet! Thanks for watching
