As many years as I learn 2D I still learn watching ..the fine details make a big deal..anyone that is learning which we all are ..these are good and time spent on water . When you get a good tech /guru on scope to 2D , take advantage of it !! Thanks man
Great video bud! Most important thing I hope guys understand is how it took 4-5 hours of graphing to locate these fish...that is not easy to do...and requires a lot of snacks lol
Great video Johnny! This is exactly the content I need learn. The fish-finder is only useful if you know what you are looking at. One of the most important things I learned from this video was the fact that it took you 4 hours to find the bass. BIG TIME lesson in patience! I needed that badly! Haha! I struggle to have patience sometimes and this was a great reminder so THANK YOU!
Thanks! Its very hard to sit behind the steering wheel for 4-5 hours, especially in 100 degree heat. Offshore fishing can be a big time grind in late July through September
Love the video I have an eagle 9 just got my first boat, an 88 ranger 393v. Don't really know much about electronics an I'm sure my transducer is prob not mounted right due to the step and deep v of the boat. That's the only electronic I have on my boat. I just love being out on the water w my kid
This was an awesome video!! 👌 Jonny, you did a video a while back demonstrating how 2D sonar works. You where in a parking lot. Do you think it's time for an updated demonstration using some of the newer units or have you done one and I didn't see it? Lol
I love love love that you are using lowrance. Can you please add speed on your screens. Even if it is small in the corner with your depth. I fish a kayak. The fastest that I go is 2.5 mph. Usually I am graphing just over 2 mph. I am trying to compare the length of my arches to yours. Speed would help. Thank you!
Johnny, great video as always. Curious about your move to Lowrance from Garmin. Is this a pure sponsorship thing or a new personal preference? Thanks and great stuff as always.
Glad you enjoyed! It's both. I am starting a sponsorship with Lowrance because I feel like their traditional graphing views are superior to the other brands, especially 2D sonar which I use all the time.
I’ve learned a lot from your videos, I think if you was to add a trail line when you are graphing and showing maps it would help me and a lot of other new anglers how to graph these spots. Thanks for the video.
Watching with the scope I get so dang many fish parades with the XD. Not many bites just lookers and followers. I wonder if I am not better off without seeing the live action of FFS it is morale crushing.
Haha I have experienced the same thing. I think at times, it’s better to turn FFS off after you line up your cast on a school. I don’t think the sonar beam affects the fish, but I think they can sense when you’re trying to “lead them” with your bait while watching them on scope.
As a new angler I appreciate your videos. Does catching fish out of 25-35’ water cause barometric trauma in the fish like you see in tournament fishing or are they released quickly enough to return to deep water in recreational fishing they are not harmed?
@FishtheMoment no doubt. It works great, Garmin 93. And it was more than enough. Till I started really tryin to learn off shore. If I knew more of what I was seeing or had more experience that is. I'm sure that would help. I'll keep plugin away at it. Thanks for the feedback and of course the great content!!
No, I'm working on an HDS Pro settings guide right now. Just got all of the settings finalized this week. I should be on the website by the end of the month
My biggest problem is the northern Indiana lakes in my area are filled with very heavy vegetation due to all the farming and fertilizers that flow into these lakes. How do I tune out all that growing and floating vegetation on my hummingbird units to zone in on fish?
it's actually fairly easy to tell white bass and hybrid striped bass apart from largemouth. White bass and hybrids will group up very close together and don't have any of the "personal space" I mentioned in the video. Larger striped bass (10+ pounds) will also have the "tails" I mentioned in the video in 2D sonar.
Do you think some of those schools were white bass? Do you have any videos of locating whites bass or hybrid bass? I have a membership on your deep dive app and it doesn't have the target species for white bass or hybrids. What tips can you give me on these fish?
I knew your pretty famous with table rock lake I was on a pontoon boat with a friend like in December we only had 2d soner we went over a huge school of something I figured it was bait but I had never seen a bait ball that big I'm talking huge any ideas?
Excellent video, thank you! This was THE best sonar fish finding video I've ever seen on YT and I've been on for several years. Well done!!
Super great video!!! Love your style of teaching on and off the water with 2D, Down, and side scan. 👍👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
I am new to your channel; I just bought my first fish finder, Garmin ECHOMAP. I am learning so much thanks!

Just purchased the Lowrance Elite FS guide. Very simple to read and follow. Can't wait to test it out on the water. Thanks!
Glad to hear it!
I love the simplicity ov your videos!
Great video bud! Most important thing I hope guys understand is how it took 4-5 hours of graphing to locate these fish...that is not easy to do...and requires a lot of snacks lol
Thanks! Snacks are key haha
@@BassFishingHQ that's the thing most guys won't tell you. Another thing I love about what he does
Wait, you're saying it takes time??? But these videos are 10mins or less and theres fish everywhere! 😂
By far the most informative video I’ve found on understanding your graph!
I have a hook 2 and this is probably one of the most helpful videos I have found since installing it.
Awesome video, just shows how hard it is to be so disciplined with your sonar.
Best teacher of bass fishing on youtube .. awesome content 👍
Glad you enjoy!

Without patience you end up fishing a spot that “might” have bass instead of waiting for the right spot. Thanks again Johnny!
Another one loaded with helpful information can’t wait to go try your thoughts out!
Informative video. Keep them coming please…. learning a lot about my new SIMRAD.
Great video, learning a lot from you and the videos
You're the man Johnny! Thanks for the video! You always give the best tutorials!
Glad you enjoyed!
I see you have discovered the Lews LFS reels. That’s my favorite bang for buck reel! Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Glad the video was helpful!
Thank you John...favorite topic was your big crank bait 10xd ! God bless.
Hey Johnny, What transducer are you using? Your getting some great returns on your unit. Great video as well.
I am new to fishing off a boat and this will help me tremendously, thanks.
Glad to help!
This is the best explanation that I've heard. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
You are the best to watch to learn how to catch bass .a grind but a good day .
I can only imagine how many hours are on Jonny's motor! this video is awesome!
Too many haha

Great video Johnny. Thanks for your time.
Glad you enjoyed!
Great instructional video.
First! Great video BTW. I'm learning to use my fish finder and read the scans. Super useful! Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Another great video!! ❤
Love the excitement
Top shelf tip! Much appreciated!
Congrats for this amazing lesson you could teach us!!!
Glad you like it!
Appreciate the advice. As always!!!
Glad you enjoyed!
Excellent video Johnny !
Glad you enjoyed it!
This was an awesome video!! 👌

I'm planning on remaking a version of that soon. Glad you enjoyed!
I’m so bored of these great videos after great video after great video… lol Great job J
I’ll try harder next time haha
@@FishtheMoment your killing it bro!
Enjoyed the video, I learn so much with your videos. What made you pick a crankbait over like a soft plastic big worm?

Nice video! It will be a good one if you do the same with activetarget unit, to difference bass and carp for example! Regards!
Very well presented! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Really valuable video Jonny! For your 2D, do you have a preferred frequency? Fixed freq or CHIRP?
Nice video. What power handle or knobs are you using on your baitcasters?
Question....at 6:55, what are those suspended fish to the left of the hump?? Great video...!!
Those are likely gizzard shad
Very good video
Glad you enjoyed it!
I’ve learned a lot from your videos, I think if you was to add a trail line when you are graphing and showing maps it would help me and a lot of other new anglers how to graph these spots. Thanks for the video.
Glad you enjoyed! I take the trail line off because it covers up the contour lines and makes them hard to see in the video.
@@FishtheMoment I understand that. It would be nice to see how you go about graphing certain spot. Just a thought
Priceless
Great video!!!!

Awesome video!

Excellent!!!

Great video. Wondering, were you using the stock Strike King hooks on that 10XD?
Thanks! I changed to them 1/0 Gamakatsu Round Bends

Johnny, what sizes would you recommend for your hover rigs for a 5” bait and a 3” bait?
Johnny, can I request you do an offshore video on Fort Gibson Lake in wagoner OK? This lake is tough to find bass offshore, especially groups of bass.
I have been meaning to go there for a while now. I'll try to fish there some time this month
Good stuff Johnny. Yea, I suck at this. But I'm trying. Looks like I need another graph. Trying to fit maps, 2d and side scan on my 9 is to much
I'm running one 9in HDS Live right now and it does feel small with all of the different views on it.
@FishtheMoment no doubt. It works great, Garmin 93. And it was more than enough. Till I started really tryin to learn off shore. If I knew more of what I was seeing or had more experience that is. Hey man what is the chance to get you out here in South Africa?
This is the juice.
Johhny, are the recommended settings for the HDS pro the same for HDS Live?
No, I'm working on an HDS Pro settings guide right now. Just got all of the settings finalized this week. I should be on the website by the end of the month

I’ll head to a grass lake in one of my next videos and show you how I would break it down with graphs.
excellent!
Thanks!
The lake I live on has lots of hybrid striped bass . I doubt there is any way to distinguish them from the Black bass . Would you agree ?

How are you getting 8oo to read that deep. I have elite ti and mine only reads alot shallower

Should do fish and debris
I struggle with way point management. You add points every day in your videos......whats you secret.
I delete all my waypoints every month. Makes it easy haha
Well,to this point 36,000 ppl just got a whole lot better at catching bass ..hope they don't live in so cal !
