Hey Matt & Tim, thanks for all the years of teaching us how to become better anglers. Not only do you talk about budget-limited gear but you also don't forget us poor bankies. I especially like that you are not afraid to express yourselves about fishing ethics, like bed fishing, and promoting the best fishing habits to ensure the future of the sport.
I've been watching this channel for a few years now, and I still learn from every new video. Thanks for being so generous with all your info. Keep it up!
They're spot on I recently seen a video Matt talks about jerk bait fishing in fall transition. I hate jerking but man he was right! Best jerk bait day hands down and it's all due to Matt.
I have to say, that you guys are truly the only ones I really trust with specific product recommendations for two reasons. The primary one is that you don’t have specific brand allegiances and contracts that force you to promote their product, even if it is not the best in the category. The second, that every time I switch to the specific product in a category you recommend, I simply catch more fish.
I have had the same experience. And some of their branded lures have made a huge difference in my fishing as well. Literally some of the best click bait ever.
What you said at 7:30 about separating your bait amongst thousands of other real baits is spot on! Took me a year to figure that out. You need a bait that makes the baitfish scurry away from it and enable the Bass to see your bait. You really are tactical about your knowledge and approach.
@@Twangtown7 I like to match the hatch in terms of size and color, but you want it extra flashy, or have lots or noise or vibration to scurry the thousands of baitfish that surround your bait
Your lake may be empty but here in Texas the wake boat are still making themselves noticed. It's been that way ever since covi. hit us .Our lakes are so pressured it is crazy
headed out tomorrow to my favorite lake the closes for the season in three days fishing these exact same baits. I can't wait. I haven't had a squarebill tied on, but I will now. And the spinnerbait has been FIRE as I can throw it dirt shallow with a little wind on the top and they are just hammering it right now. The spinnerbait is the true ATV of baits. It will fish in a foot of water and the smallies JUST WRECK IT! This is such a great time of year to be on the water. Full foliage and no boating pressure, as everyone has headed to the woods.
I'm surprised that spinnerbaits and chatterbaits aren't in your top 5 baits for catching them in October TacticalBassin. I was catching bass on spinnerbaits and chatterbaits like crazy in 2021 in October and caught a 6 pound bass in a pond on a spinnerbait that day.
Imagine a tactical bait box where you can get 5-6 hand picked baits for the specific time of year that were designed by matt and tim. Id pick one of those up once a moth fs🤔
Very timely considering last Saturday I was burning my new ATV square bill dirt shallow pulling it off a small ledge and hammered them lol. The ghost minnow did the trick. I even had a 3ft musky take a swipe at it.
I was the only boat on the lake this morning. Fish are schooled up fat and loaded on main lake points. I love sept- ice season fishing up here in Michigan.
I was personally taken Matt and Tim's approach to bass fishing about a lot of Bates and I'll try them and see what it works. I don't have any top 5 categories yet. I'm out here on lake in alabama
Lake of the Ozarks is still a mad house. The weather has been nice and it seems like no one put away their huge pleasure boats yet also we have a different national bass tournament every week right now. It is ridiculous.
great video! i really appreciate the tips you shared. however, i can't help but think that some of these baits might not be as effective in certain local waters. personally, i've had better luck with jigs this time of year. what do you guys think?
If you drew a line from east to west across the center of the United States splitting it into a north and south section which would you pick to fish if could only fish one from now on. North or South and why?
For big LMB the southern states (FL, GA, AL, TX). for more variety the Great Lake states OH, MI, WI, NY, MN etc. We built both Shimano and Daiwa’s booths for the iCast and Bassmaster Classic trade shows. I was lucky to be able to travel and fish in lots of states. It honestly just depends on what species you’re targeting. I’m from the Cleveland area and my vote and unbiased opinion is for the North and more specifically Lake Erie. Best walleye, steelhead and smallie fishing in the country! still have plenty of LMB around here but you’re not going to get a 6 pounder very often or in my case ever.. lol. do some research and you’ll see why it’s considered one of the best, if not the best fishing in the country. It’s further south than other great lakes and more shallow so it has warmer water and more species. you can fish for LMB, SMB, walleye, steelhead, rainbow trout, brown trout, northern pike, musky, yellow perch, catfish, crappi, blue gill, carp and lots more. Walleye and perch are some of the best fresh water eating fish. we don’t eat cat up here lol.
@@Buckeyes216 Lifelong Texan here. 61 years. If your talking any other freshwater fish the south has got the north beat not only on LMB but also alligator gar, paddlefish and flathead cat. Our gar get massive. Seems like the northern fisheries have more LMB bass but the south definitely has bigger LMB.
Hey what’s your go to rod action for fishing those finesse underspin? Looks like the spinning rod you were using was pretty moderate/parabolic. I’m losing fish on my 7’ M fast action spinning rod up by the boat…
Question for ya, Matt. What hooks do you use as an upgrade for the 110 Rerange? The stock hooks are sharp as hell, but they bend out pretty easily. I’m looking for a good replacement hook to put on my reranges.
I do like the tactical underspin but quality control has been an issue for me. My last TW order I bought four and two of them had issues. One the swivel was bad and the other the drop wire loop was completely crushed and cracked.
That is unfortunate, but each TW order does arrive with a return label. Send the damaged ones back for credit. At least you get a full refund w/o paying for shipping.
That's terrible! It would be really helpful if you reach out to Dirty Jigs and let them know as well. They can't solve an issue if they don't know about it. (We'll let them know too)
Another really good video Out of curiosity when you're talking about hooks @13:50, why not talk about hook sharpening instead of swapping out hooks for gram:gram equivalents? Hooks have to be kept razor sharp regardless. Sharpening smokes constantly changing them
Idk why my fish prefer a straight retrieve on glides instead of a chopping walking action. Literally just wind them. And they come get them. Makes no sense
My birthday month too! As well as my wife, her dad and youngest brother. 2 of my nieces (twins), a cousin and 2 or 3 childhood friends and an old teacher of mine all on my birthday too. October is a busy month in my family 😅👍

We need the "BURN,BURN,PAUSE" tactical bassin apparel.
Great idea, big ole bucket mouth wide open inhaling a squarebill.
Id buy one lol
Definitely would buy it

Up north we don’t have that problem cause it get so cold so early.

One of the best top five i've seen. Thumbs up!

I’m going out this morning. Love all the videos that you guys do
Good luck 👍

I wish the bass were chasing bait in my local lake. Been harder than trigonometry to find a bite for the last 3weeks
Been crushing Smallmouth on the River2Sea Rover 128 I believe.
Great information as always

Is there a specific bait you recommend throwing for deep mountain reservoirs that are windy with stained water
