I know this isn’t homemade, but to thicken my potato soup, I add a couple cans of cream of condensed potato soup. It thickens it up & adds fantastic flavor & its faster! Everyone loved it & wonders what my secret is!
I love that you use a knife to pare the peeling off the potatoes and then use it to cut them up. Makes total sense, to me. That is exactly how my family does it. I was helping peel potatoes for a church dinner a few years back and those ladies thought I must have dropped in from another planet because I was using a paring knife instead of one of those peeler gadgets! I was embarrassed to be so “ backwards” ; for about five seconds. You made me extremely happy when you used your kitchen shears to cut the chives. None of those ladies I was cooking with could believe it when I used scissors to cut lettuce for salad. Oh, well.

Next time you say girls you just don’t know what you’re doing you’re wasting your time it takes experience and know how to be a good cook so they are just learning!
We love homemade potato soup that I’ve always made from scratch. My daughter has wanted the recipe (there is none :) This sounds like a yummy recipe that I can give to her, but we always have sautéed onions and celery in ours too. Thank you.
I love, love, love potato soup! My mama made this every time someone in our family got sick. I still make it a lot for my family. I like my loaded like this video. Mama just made hers with potatoes and diced onions. I don’t believe we ever eat it without cornbread. So delicious! 🥔🍵
I made this potato soup today exactly by your recipe. Exactly. And oh my goodness it was soooo good. I even found the big container of bouillon you used and I love it because it is so rich. Makes a really good broth. Thank you so much for this recipe!
Tammy don’t know if you do this, but instead of the cheese and bacon, add a can of chopped clams and you have clam chowder. You always make everything look so good. Thanks, Carol
I love your recipes, you're so wonderful to watch. My family is from Tennessee, after my mom passed away, the rest followed. Not many of us left now. So when i listen to you, it just tickles my soul. It gives me a piece of yesterday. God Bless you and your loving husband for being such beautiful souls. And I made the soup, threw a touch of my lil favorites in and it was so delicious. You made me look good...my peeps were loving it.
My dad made the best potato soup, he sautéed onions and a little celery. In butter. Then added potatoes and a little water. When potatoes were almost done added milk and grated a little carrots then thickened. He was a great cook, had a little restaurant in Detroit during the 50’s and 60’s.
It’s been really hard fir me to cook for myself since about May. I’m getting better and have started with my slo cooker and pressure cooker. (Cant stand and stir). Your show are a blessing. I am grateful for you. Happy Thanksgiving!
You prolly dont care at all but does someone know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account..? I was dumb lost the login password. I love any tricks you can offer me.
@Omari Brecken thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and Im trying it out atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.

I’ve been using your flour in a mason jar with cold milk trick, I think I’ll stick to that. Also buy the large chicken bouillon, so awesome and easy… have a good day, always nice to see your videos….

I'm gonna admit this, I never like my memaw's or my mom's potato soup. There it is. However, Tammy, this looks so very delicious. Guess what I'm making tomorrow night. Love y'all.
I absolutely LOVE potato soup! It is almost midnight and after watching this video I am really wanting some potato soup in the worst way! So guess what I’ll be having tomorrow? 🤣 Thanks Tammy and Chris!
Looks good. Got to try it. Got my turkey breast ready to cook, got my dressing ready for liquids in morning, got my sweet potato casserole ready for topping in morning, got my turnips cooked and my giblet gravy made. Took your advise and got things ready, so want be to tired tomorrow. Just got to make dumplings in morning. Have a blessed Thanksgiving for you and your family. Thank you Tammy for this wonderful recipe... and I hope your family had a blessed Thanksgiving.
This looks good and rich, going to have to try it. My Mom used to put bacon, onions, garlic and some fine cut celery in hers. I have not had potato soup in a long time but will have to give it a try. The sour cream and cheese will take this over the top. Thanks, I hope your family has a great Thanksgiving Chris and Tammy.

Potato soup is among my favourite meals, and have been looking for s good recipe. This more than fills the bill, because my mouth was watering all the time I was watching the video🙂🙂 Many thanks for sharing your knowledge and expertise ... Cheers.

Thanks I have to be gluten free, my mom was Irish German, this is is corn bread, gluten free because it’s corn? That’s what I heard about corn tortillas. Which, I looooove nachos! Thanks for sharing. It gets hard with Celac of the skin.
I swear every time I get on UA-cam to look for this it's a different video. The first one was plain potato soup. Cream potatoes salt and pepper. Sounds just like my grandma so I thought it was an older woman not a 35 year old 😉 I just want a regular ol soup. Every other one has carrots bacon vegetables and everything under the kitchen sink. I don't have all that I'm poor lol I never liked the Mandela effect stuff but man I swear I'm losing my mind or the universe is switching it up on me every time
Passed Collard Valley Road twice last night on the way back from Thanksgiving dinner thanks to the crazy Waze app. :) Made me think of y'all. My niece just moved from Dallas to Tallapoosa so she wanted to do Thanksgiving there. Waze had me all messed up in Cedartown, but I figured it out.
This is one of our favorite meals. I like cornbread, toast and hubby likes crackers. Yours look so good Tammy and your Christmas tree is beautiful! I have switched to powdered Knorr's also. I put some in my broth for Thanksgiving. Turned out delish.
I looked at your recipe as I’m still watching. I add quite a bit of bacon as well as the grease, onion, garlic, Parmesan cheese, and top with grated cheese. Yum! 😀
Honey...I'm up before the chickens. I turned on this potatoes soup you made. Goodness, it looks yummy. Twelve minutes to a bowl full of soup and toppings of bacon, cheese sounds good. I'm telling you it makes me hungry. Thank you for good food. Bye bye Lizzie lu
Hi Tammy. It's a boring day. 8 6 22. Thought I would cook some soup. Potato. I laughed and laughed at me I said Google Tammy's soup. Nope. Then flour valley cooking. Lol I finally went ok collard valley.
I saute a small onion in butter, then add potatoes and water. I also thicken mine with a little instant potatoes instead of starch. Everybody has a different recipe... but it's still good!! Thanks Tammy.
I was watching a video about making this with Guy Feide on Dinners, Drive and Diive. I love his show. but I don't but sour cream in potatoe soup. my mom would always make this with pork chops 🥩. and butter milk biscuits. QUESTION 🙋 I'm trying to cut back on using bacon and I always buy turkey, can I substitute it for pork bacon?. there was a Restaurant where I live call Soup Plantation and I would always get potatoe soup and l salad 🥗 . YOU MADE IT LOOK EASY my Friday meal when I watched Date line
Hi Tammy. I'm sure it's a killer recipe but, for me, it can't come close to my late grandmother's potato soup (the only thing she made that I'm able to replicate). Looks similar but my grandmother's recipe adds bacon (the duct-tape of all kitchens). ;)
It looks so good. I am visually impared when I saw the picture at the beginning I thought it was a piece of boiled egg not cheese lol I have to listen closely eyes fail me.

Wow! I just made this last Sunday with crusty bread too.
I like bacon ends for flavoring all kinds of dishes, it is so much less expensive than regular packaged bacon.
Instead of cornstarch to thicken it, I just crush some of the potatoes. And, some sautéed onions are a must for us.

Your potato soup looks so delicious. It’s a stormy day here in Houston. I think this is what I’ll fix for our supper. Yum, Yum! Thanks Tammy! 🥰🤟
If I don't have half and half or whole milk can I use evaporated milk or 2percent?
Yes
I think I would’ve left out the cheddar. Consistency looked really good before you put it in.
I'm going to make this for my neighbors who always look out for me. I wanted to dive in that bowl of bacon topped soup!

Yummy, happy holidays and thank you for all the delicious holiday recipe you cooked.
This is one of our favorite meals. I like cornbread, toast and hubby likes crackers. Yours look so good Tammy and your Christmas tree is beautiful! I have switched to powdered Knorr's also. I put some in my broth for Thanksgiving. Turned out delish.
Tammy we had your potato soup tonight and it was delish. We have enough left for another night. Thanks
I don't cook much no more it just me. For now but my soon to be husband loves my cooking.
I love your cute little dogs 🥰Girl! You did your thing on this Potato Soup 🍜. I’ll be making this recipe 💜
Wishing you , Chris and the girls a blessed and peaceful Thanksgiving.🙏😇🦃💕
I make a version of this that I created from my MIL’s potato soup recipe. I’m looking forward to watching your version!
I looked at your recipe as I’m still watching. I add quite a bit of bacon as well as the grease, onion, garlic, Parmesan cheese, and top with grated cheese. Yum! 😀
Are there things you liked better in your old kitchen than your new kitchen?
No this is way better
Happy Thanksgiving, tks for being here to raise us up to the good life. All Our Love from NC
Enjoy watching your videos, I cook like you do, have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Potato soup is the best 👍❤🥰🦃Happy Thanksgiving
Honey...I'm up before the chickens. I turned on this potatoes soup you made. Goodness, it looks yummy. Twelve minutes to a bowl full of soup and toppings
of bacon, cheese sounds good. I'm telling you it makes me hungry. Thank you
for good food.
Bye bye Lizzie lu
So good
Hi Tammy. It's a boring day. 8 6 22. Thought I would cook some soup. Potato. I laughed and laughed at me I said Google Tammy's soup. Nope. Then flour valley cooking. Lol I finally went ok collard valley.
Sure looks tasty. Makes me hungry and it's 10:45pm, too late to eat now. LOL
Going to have to make this for deer camp 😁. Thanks!
I saute a small onion in butter, then add potatoes and water. I also thicken mine with a little instant potatoes instead of starch. Everybody has a different recipe... but it's still good!! Thanks Tammy.
I do same Susan. I also add 2 bay leaves to soup and 2 tbsps sugar to the sautéd onions. Tammy's looks delish too!
Potato flakes are amazing if you need gluten-free or use heavy cream and a cheese like brie and cook low and slow and it will be the perfect thickness
Thank you 😊
Have you ever used left over mashed potatoes? That would even quicker. Looks delicious.
I have not tried that
I was watching a video about making this with Guy Feide on Dinners, Drive and Diive.
Yes you could
Hi Tammy. I'm sure it's a killer recipe but, for me, it can't come close to my late grandmother's potato soup (the only thing she made that I'm able to replicate). Looks similar but my grandmother's recipe adds bacon (the duct-tape of all kitchens). ;)
You making me hungry for potato soup but never thought of adding chicken bouillon thanks for the tip !!
I am swallowing hard! I never met a tater I didn't like. I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Looks delicious. I will be making this in the next few days. Hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
happy thanksgiving to the nichols family.i love your recipes but its you and chris that make me the happiest .love you
It looks so good. I am visually impared when I saw the picture at the beginning I thought it was a piece of boiled egg not cheese lol I have to listen closely eyes fail me.
Looks yummy❤️❤️. Hope you n your family have a happy Thanksgiving.
Tammy, Great advice on the Chicken Bouillon by Knorr!!!!!! I use it all the time and I keep that big one in my cabinet too!!
Just made potato soup yesterday, potato soup weather isn’t it....but mine wasn’t loaded, didn’t have sour cream, only bacon & cheese
Add a couple of chopped hard boiled eggs, really good.
I like you filming usin that GoPro it makes you feel like you're right there in the kitchen cooking with you
