Peanut Brittle I made one Dark and one Light ❤️I love peanut Brittle my Mom made it when I was young . She took the raw peanuts from the garden my Daddy grew in the summer after we had our plenty boiled peanuts…and dryed them out and then cooked them in the yard on a open fire in late September in a big BIg cast iron pot . That was the best Peanut brittle ever❤️
My grandmother was a dessert pro. She could bake pies, cookies and cakes like nobody's business. She'd whip them up in no time flat. She made tins of 🥜 brittle every Christmas so we could give them out to our teachers when we were in school. We still make a few batches and give them out to family and friends.
@@dianehiggs5030 A recipe for peanut brittle? It's almost the same as Tammy's. We don't add butter or parch the peanuts 1st. With or without butter, peanut brittle is still delish.
I’ve never made brittle before. I just enjoy watching your shows. I’m glad you have recovered from Covid. Thank you for bringing joy and faith into our lives.
I also had an elderly friend that taught me how to set up a small amount on a metal tray and butter your fingers at a certain point of the kidney you stretch it quickly, this way you will get less sugar in your pieces and makes it easier to break. Thank you for your recipes.
Yes my grandmother taught me to make brittle over 50 years ago. And I’ve been making it ever since , the old fashioned way. I’m gonna have to try it in the microwave. I make it all through the year for my kids and grandkids. But I’m getting on up there in years and it’s getting harder for me to make. So for the sake of my kids I’ll try your way. But you’re right, not many people make it anymore homemade. My kids love to eat it but won’t try to make it. I have made it with peanuts , pecans , cashews and I’ve even made coconut brittle. It’s all great. Bless you
Oh My Gosh!!! I just made this and it is the BEST Peanut Brittle I have EVER made! I can’t believe how easy it is to make! My microwave is a 1200 watt so I only cooked it for 3 minutes, then 3 minutes, then 2. It turned out perfect! I would have never ever thought it would taste this good. And it’s light and airy. Thank you Tammy! 👏👏👏🥰
Thank you for this. I just made my first batch and near the end of the process realized it was getting overcooked, but too late to do anything about it. I wondered what time to cook would be appropriate for my microwave and now thanks to your post, I know! This batch is not totally inedible but lowering the cooking times next time will be much better. Thanks again!
@@rebeccag856 Thanks for your post. I have a 1000 watt micro and it was too hot and had a burnt smell. I have tried it yet, but I'm going to do 3 minutes as well.
Love your apron.. I just got one as a gift and it says … An apron is just a cape on backwards.. 😆😆 we are superhero’s in the kitchen to our loved ones .. Merry Christmas 🎄
I used to make peanut brittle, but haven't made it in a long time. Used to make it for Christmas gifts. Time to do that again! Thank you Tammy and it will be much easier in the microwave.
Pour it out on a half sheet pan (buttered of course) and pull it out with two forks as thin as possible and you will not only get twice as much but it also is more brittle and tastes better (I don't know why it tastes better, but it does). For a real taste treat, sub those mixed nuts in the big jars from Costco at holiday time.
When I was a teenager up in Lee County, Georgia, I loved to make peanut brittle. My dad had a friend in Shellman, Ga. that raised peanuts, and he would bring me seed peanuts - wonderful! My dad really had a sweet tooth.
I love Peanut Brittle, It's great anytime of the year. I always include this delicious treat on all my cookie trays... Thak you and God Bless you Tammy and Chris, We love you both so much, and always appreciate your recipes....
I prefer almonds, cashews or walnuts to peanuts-in case someone's allergic to peanut. I'm not, but peanut were just my dad's favourite nuts. I'm Diabetic now, so I've had to cut out all that sugar. Don't recommend sugar alcohols either! Some people are VERY sensitive to these-and aspartame.
One of my favorites. My old pastor and his wife used to make it and I couldn't open it without eating the whole thing right by my self. Can't wait to try this. Thanks for sharing. When you buy it at the store, it don't have enough butter in it.
This is a wonderful recipe and Tammy explains the instructions very clearly. If you have a high wattage microwave, run each cycle for 3 minutes instead of 4. I really scorched my first batch. Could smell it burning even befor the first 4 minutes were up. Second batch was delicious!
Scorched mine too ! Wish I read these reviews first! But I should have been right on top of it after that second cycle it was bubbling up high! My own fault ,will try again tomorrow .
I burnt my first batch! I had to throw my new cup out!! Haha! I had a smaller bowl then Tammy’s. I bought a big Pyrex bowl and after 3 weeks of being afraid I tried again! Yea! It worked with no burning! Let’s see if it gets hard now!
I make peanut brittle each Christmas for gift giving. Last year my husband had COVID, he did not loose his taste but had a huge craving for peanut brittle!! I think that I made 6 batches just for him. Our recipes are similar and making it in the microwave is the easiest!! I will be ordering peanuts and pecans through our county extension service this week. Take care!!
My aunt taught my mother who taught me. Momma only makes it at Christmas time anymore. Everyone wants some. She makes it for family, friends and church family. Some even ask if she still doing it. She uses an old iron skillet on the stove top. She has since refined the recipe. She uses dry roasted peanuts and leaves out the extra salt and vanilla flavored corn syrup. It works. It's hard to stop once you start. So good. I am going to try the microwave recipe and see how it goes. She also lines a cookie tray with tin foil. It peels right off once it cools. Save some extra calories. Peanut brittle is like pecan pie. It looks way harder than it really is. GOD bless.
Yummy!! I didn't know it was so easy to make! I made toffee for years but now that I'm an "oldster" this recipe looks so much easier so I'm going to try it and make several batches each with a different kind of nut for Christmas gifts! Thanks Tammy!! You're the best!! Love ya!!
I'm like another Poster's father, never cared for peanuts, pecans were always my favorite, and Grammy Sarrett used to pour some out for me right before she added the nuts. (Pecans are so expensive I never asked her to make me some with pecans... Save them for the pie we all loved.) Thinking about doing some with walnuts. I've become more interested in them lately since I found out how healthy they are for you and cheaper than the pecans I love so much. Might make some Walnut brittle! I read all the comments before I posted this. So many memories tired up with making candy and other good stuff, takes us back to where times were simpler. Thanks Tammy and Chris, for taking us there. ps. I assume Chris was with you today. This is the first time I remember him not chiming in with a comment or two. Hi, Chris, we love you too!
I just so happened to have the correct amount of parched peanuts on hand so I decided to make this recipe. I burned the peanuts. I had to throw it out. But, I had a big bag of raw walnuts and i made some more brittle with them. Let me tell you, this is the best brittle I have ever had. It is not too hard and does not stick to your teeth. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. Merry Christmas from Texas...

My grandmother used to say that finally one day I asked why she called it that and not “browning them, mom’s term). She said they taste so much better when they’re thirsty!!! LOL This was the same sweet soul who used a small piece of an old ripped sheet that she used to cover the turkey for thanksgiving while roasting. “See’s Candy” makes the best peanut brittle I’ve ever had. It’s easy to chew, doesn’t stick to ur teeth, and they use butter too. I have 98% duplicated it. If this one is better or good, I will surely make it a few times a year. This recipe surely looks like a good one! I make butter brickle too. Do u make that as well? If so, u have another video class waiting. 🤣👏👏👏
Tammy, how many nuts do u use for this recipe & do u change the power status in your microwave? One lady said she changed it to medium because it burned the candy on high! Do u have your micro on high when cooking brittle?
This looks so delicious I made it all the time but since I got sick I haven't been doing a lot of cooking but you have geared me up and I am going to do it again. I've got to make this peanut brittle I don't use peanuts because I have too many people in the family who don't like peanuts I use pecans and it turns out awful good as well thank you so much for this recipe and reminding me on how to make it in the microwave.......

Thank you!!! I had forgotten how much my husband loves peanut brittle. This will be something I'll make and put under the tree for him. He LOVES his sweet treats.
The term “parching/parched” in relation to the peanuts threw me until I realised you were roasting them. It is interesting that although we speak the same language, local terminology can be so different and sometimes confusing.

I’m old AND from the Deep South, and I’m fairly certain “parched”, like me, is not only old and Southern, but “country”. City people used the term “roasted. I recall seeing and hearing “parched peanuts” in reference to both home preparation and local vendor sales. Also, I recall parched peanuts being prepared from raw, in the shell rather than being unshelled, however, I think that part is irrelevant. 😎
Oh my yes, a Christmas tradition for me. My mama made candy at Christmas time and this brittle is so easy and quick! Loved this video Tammy! You're right not many younger people make treats like this anymore! Got to find some raw peanuts soon. 🥜
Tammy, I have to say…this peanut brittle was SO good!! I made this for my kids and it turned out amazing! And, I didn’t have to stand over the stove. That’s AWAYS a plus.
I just finished making your recipe, well almost, I used crushed walnuts. I followed everything else, including toasting the walnuts, exactly and right now it's cooling, but what I scraped out of the bowl and quickly cooled tasted and crunched up perfectly. I've never even made brittle before. Thank you for your wonderful recipe and microwave cooking hack. I'll be definitely be doing future brittle experiments via my microwave. :-)
We always make it in the microwave and the recipe we use hasn't let us down yet. Looking forward to seeing how Tammy does it. I can almost assure you that I'm more "candy challenged" than you my friend! 😂
@Rhonda Butler LOL, I'm cooking challenged!!😂😂 I've always heard people say, "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen"! I REALLY can't stand the heat😂🤣 Now, using the microwave...this might be for me🤔🤗🤣 Love you🥰💞
Wow! It’s been a long time since I’ve made this! Need to get some peanuts 💕. A half stick you said, but you put in a whole stick, so I am going with a whole stick 💕💕. Have a wonderful vacation you two 🙏🏻💕
You might put in twice as much baking soda to make it more poofy. I put a teaspoon of vanilla in my old recipe of peanut brittle when the baking soda goes in.
That was a really nice flounder! I appreciate this recipe (even though it is my exact same recipe too) bc I never did it in a microwave, nor had I done microwave pudding which I also appreciated.
Take it easy,Tam. Don't undo all of your hard work!! Can't blame you, though looks delicious. By the way, you say "parched peanuts" , but up north, we say " roasted".Good idea for holiday gifts.
I made peanut brittle for the first time this year, using peanuts I grew myself. It's the same recipe, but is done on the stovetop. I'd been wishing for a way to do it in the microwave - and now, I know how! I'll have to get a microwave-safe bowl that's big enough, but next year, thanks to your microwave version, there'll be no standing at the stove with a thermometer for me!

She took the raw peanuts from the garden my Daddy grew in the summer after we had our plenty boiled peanuts…and dryed them out and then cooked them in the yard on a open fire in late September in a big BIg cast iron pot . That was the best Peanut brittle ever❤️
Tammy, if you will spray your measuring cup with a bit of Pam, the corn syrup will slid out easily. Blessings!
Thank you for your tip I make candy all the time
Yes, Marianne!! Thanks for saying this! I knew there was a reason I needed some Pam! :)
Wow good to know ❤️
Thanks for that tip!!
This is true.
I do your recipe every year for peanut brittle and you custard pie. Thank you
Glad you like them!

A recipe for peanut brittle?
It's almost the same as Tammy's.
We don't add butter or parch the peanuts 1st.
With or without butter, peanut brittle is still delish.
my mom would've loved this. Peanut brittle was always her thing. thanks for the memories
I’ve never made brittle before. I just enjoy watching your shows. I’m glad you have recovered from Covid. Thank you for bringing joy and faith into our lives.
I Love Tammy. She is the most authentic Southern cook.
That peanut brittle looks so good!
Thank you Tammy & Chris, you guys are awesome!🥰👍!
My dad loved peanut brittle!
Trust me It is good!!! My momma made this too!!! She went to heaven June 2015,, I will start making this too!!
Bless you
My first time here. Thanks. I lost my granny's recipe and Thanks to you I now have a updated microwave version. Thanks again.
Wonderful!
Anxious to try this, Tammy! Love your show, you are so down to earth, and your sense of humor is great!!
She's a cutie...everybody needs her in the family!
Thanks! Good to know just getting ready to make this!
Hi my name is Takesy and I love to watch you bake
Pour it out on a half sheet pan (buttered of course) and pull it out with two forks as thin as possible and you will not only get twice as much but it also is more brittle and tastes better (I don't know why it tastes better, but it does). For a real taste treat, sub those mixed nuts in the big jars from Costco at holiday time.
Thank you sweet Tammy! I love your channel! And I appreciate you!
Mike
When I was a teenager up in Lee County, Georgia, I loved to make peanut brittle. My dad had a friend in Shellman, Ga. that raised peanuts, and he would bring me seed peanuts - wonderful! My dad really had a sweet tooth.
Those tiny little red Spanish peanuts make the best peanut brittle!
❤Made about an hr. ago and waiting for it to cool. cooling in refrigerator: hope that is okay..
JUST LOVE WATCHING YOU AND CHRIS. A REAL SWEET TEAM.
Yummy!
Way to go Tammy it looks good as usual. Hey Chris y'all take care stay safe and God bless you both
I love Peanut Brittle, It's great anytime of the year. I always include this delicious treat on all my cookie trays... Thak you and God Bless you Tammy and Chris, We love you both so much, and always appreciate your recipes....
I’ve made that peanut brittle for years. Sometimes I use pecans, cashews, any kind of nuts. It’s all delicious! So easy. Thanks Tammy. Merry Christmas
Thanks for the info!
Scorched mine too ! Wish I read these reviews first! But I should have been right on top of it after that second cycle it was bubbling up high! My own fault ,will try again tomorrow .
Glad you posted this. Explains what might have happened with my batches.
I burnt my first batch! I had to throw my new cup out!! Haha! I had a smaller bowl then Tammy’s. I bought a big Pyrex bowl and after 3 weeks of being afraid I tried again! Yea! It worked with no burning! Let’s see if it gets hard now!
Thanks, wonderful video.
Love ya!!
I bet pecan will be wonderful, but easier to burn. How about maple pecan brittle?
I'm like another Poster's father, never cared for peanuts, pecans were always my favorite, and Grammy Sarrett used to pour some out for me right before she added the nuts. (Pecans are so expensive I never asked her to make me some with pecans... Save them for the pie we all loved.)
Thinking about doing some with walnuts.
Wonderful!
Yum!! My cousins in Houston send me this every Christmas except they use toasted Texas pecans. Such a lovely treat I look forward to every year. Tfs your recipe with us. 😊❤
FAMILY FROM TEXAS THEY SEND ME FOOD ALL THE TIME I'M NANA 😂 THEY REALLY REMEMBER WHAT I COOKED THEY HAVE MADE 10 COOK BOOKS THIS IS ONE WE USE PECANS ALSO I ROASTED ALL NUTS (VISUALLY IMPAIRED USE CAPS I'M 70+😘WE LOVE TAMTAM
Thank you so much for sharing. Also, your hair is amazing. I love your kitchen too. Your accept reminds me of my grandpa and his family. My grandma was native American so she had a different accent. She was an amazing cook too. She taught me a lot. We came from Arizona, Taxes also Louisiana and Mississippi. My grandparents settled in Bakersfield California off of Weedpatch highway after the dust bowl. They both passed away a year apart, my grandpa passed away on February of 2020, this year my grandma passed. They left me great memories. ❤️
Haven't seen you since the covid-19 so glad to see you up and around, and cooking. I love watching good old southern girls cook. Got to try this, wanted some so bad when you got through.
Beautiful recipe
My grandmother used to say that finally one day I asked why she called it that and not “browning them, mom’s term). She said they taste so much better when they’re thirsty!!! LOL
This was the same sweet soul who used a small piece of an old ripped sheet that she used to cover the turkey for thanksgiving while roasting. When I asked why she said “so the turkey doesn’t get cold, no one likes nippley breasts!!! 🤪🤪🤪🤪
Grandma was a HOOT ! I love it. Mine were too.
Haaaaaaaaa
Thanks for sharing this post! I will definitely make this for my husband! He will definitely be happy!🤗!
Thanks so much for posting. I'll have to order me some peanuts and make some. Stay safe, stay well. So glad Chris didn't get Covid. Glad to see you are doing so much better.
This is my husband's favorite treat. Guess I need to try making it for him.
I love peanut brittle but have never made it. This looks so easy that I’m going to try it. Thank u Tammy ! 💖
microwave peanut brittle is easy and fast
Make sure to cut you microwave to medium or it will burn. I made two batches and burned them til I seen in recipe to turn your microwave to medium.
Love your food and Kitchen and You are so much fun. I really appreciate your kindness and videos
I used to make it for Christmas gifts for my neighbors, and they loved it!
Fantastic video! Very entertaining!
I have not made it yet
Tammy, how many nuts do u use for this recipe & do u change the power status in your microwave? One lady said she changed it to medium because it burned the candy on high! Do u have your micro on high when cooking brittle?
I just love your recipes Tammy they are delicious and very easy to prepare thank you friend for the peanut brittle recipe it is amazing♥️🙏♥️
I love pecan brittle. There is a little smokehouse in Texas that makes pecan brittle and it is SOOO good. Was thinking I would use Tammy's recipe to make some pecan brittle.
@@summersez1673 Yes pecan brittle is my favorite. And I've always made it with pecans only once did I make it with peanuts and nobody wanted it not in my family they don't like peanuts. Now I'm excited to do it the microwave way.
Do you use half pecans or pieces.
How big is the storage jars please? The peanut brittle looks real good and I'll will be making it (smile). "Thank you" (smile)
@@racheljackson7397 pecan brittle sound yummy I will try pecans since can't have peanuts
I am amazed😲, I can hardly wait to make this with my grandchildren, yummikins 😋 and soooooo crunchy!
OMG Tammy, thanks for this recipe. I used to make it all the time in my microwave in the 70's and lost the recipe. This is the same one for the microwave and it sure does turn out fantastic!! Best peanut brittle I ever had. Melaney from SoCal
It threw me too. I assumed she meant roast. Never heard of the term.
My grandmother used to say that finally one day I asked why she called it that and not “browning them, mom’s term). She said they taste so much better when they’re thirsty!!! LOL

@@delilahcaroline3489 😂🤣😅
I’m old AND from the Deep South, and I’m fairly certain “parched”, like me, is not only old and Southern, but “country”. City people used the term “roasted. I recall seeing and hearing “parched peanuts” in reference to both home preparation and local vendor sales. Also, I recall parched peanuts being prepared from raw, in the shell rather than being unshelled, however, I think that part is irrelevant. 😎
You make cooking fun. I love to watch 💖🙏🙏
Oh my yes, a Christmas tradition for me. My mama made candy at Christmas time and this brittle is so easy and quick! Loved this video Tammy! You're right not many younger people make treats like this anymore! Got to find some raw peanuts soon. 🥜
If you live close to an Asian market you should be able to find raw peanuts there! My wife roasts peanuts - she always gets them there!
Tammy, I have to say…this peanut brittle was SO good!! I made this for my kids and it turned out amazing! And, I didn’t have to stand over the stove. That’s AWAYS a plus.
Great job!
Oh Tammy, my Daddy would have loved this. If only I could make this for him.
Great!
This is one of Butch’s favorite things! I’m excited to learn how to make it in the microwave since I am candy making challenged!!😂😂. Thanks Tammy!💕
I REALLY can't stand the heat😂🤣 Now, using the microwave...this might be for me🤔🤗🤣 Love you🥰💞
I’m so glad you have to his recipe I Live peanut brittle looks super easy …. Much Much better than store bought 🥰🥰

Wow! It’s been a long time since I’ve made this! Need to get some peanuts 💕. A half stick you said, but you put in a whole stick, so I am going with a whole stick 💕💕. Have a wonderful vacation you two 🙏🏻💕
1/2 cup = whole stick. I think that's what she meant
@@TacklingTheGiants Yeah,😉 it Is
I was wondering about that too.
You might put in twice as much baking soda to make it more poofy. I put a teaspoon of vanilla in my old recipe of peanut brittle when the baking soda goes in.
Your Peanut Brittle was soooooo GOOD!! You were so kind to share with Walter and I. You're the best Tammy, I love you ❤️
I love you too ❤️
That was a really nice flounder!
I appreciate this recipe (even though it is my exact same recipe too) bc I never did it in a microwave, nor had I done microwave pudding which I also appreciated.

Great video and yummy looking brittle! Reminds me of my Mama and me making Christmas goodies years ago. Now I'm gonna cry.
I can't wait to make this and guess what everyone is getting for Christmas 😁💜
You tickled🤣😂 me so @12:55 with the, it tastes so good "shimmy". I'll be making this for Superbowl Sunday snacks. Wonderful video!!!❤❤
Take it easy,Tam. Don't undo all of your hard work!! Can't blame you, though looks delicious.
By the way, you say "parched peanuts" , but up north, we say " roasted".Good idea for holiday gifts.
🤣😂 your mischievous look into the camera while eating it , did make me giggle you little minx , LOVE your accent , hi 👋🏼 from Cornwall, UK
Finally I got the recipe I'm here watching you for the microwave peanut brittle thank you so much
I made peanut brittle for the first time this year, using peanuts I grew myself.
Hi Ms Tammy, my family is from VillePlatte LA, and we make homemade pecan candy as well as fudge and peanut brittle, love your microwave recipe. God bless you and thank you! From Ms Diana LaFleur
My mother and father made it for 20 years and sold it at craft fairs but they made it on the stovetop. It was delicious, as I'm sure yours was, too! Thanks for sharing your recipe!
I use to make this for my kids. They love it so much.
I love this method of making peanut brittle. You are right you can't stop eating it! It's so delicious!
I couldn’t wait….I just made your Microwave Peanut Brittle and it is DELICIOUS and love that it only takes 10 minutes!! 😋😋😋
Wonderful!
Hi Tammy! My mother and one of my aunts made this microwave peanut brittle using this recipe or one very similar. It was always so good! I remember making this for Christmas "goodie boxes" for the UPS and FedEx delivery drivers that were so busy during the holidays. We would make an extra batch (or two or three!) to nibble on while making the other cakes, cookies and candy for the "goodie boxes" for those guys and gals.
They never failed to mention how good the peanut brittle was! This recipe brings back warm memories! Thanks for another video, y'all! ! 😊
I have been making this for many years. I got the same recipe from the raw peanut packaging. My 45 year old son loves it so much, so I make it for him.
Wow I am amazed! Thanks for sharing! This will be a fun recipe for years to come!
My mother has always loved Peanut Brittle but I’ve never known her to make any, nor do I have any knowledge of her ever getting her hands on any homemade. I’m gonna make her some!! Thank you so much!! I had no idea it could be so simple. 👍 New Subscriber!!
Hope you enjoy
This was so easy and so good. Closest thing I've ever had to See's peanut brittle.
