Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. Two great bands with totally different objectives. Pink Floyd wanted to take you on a journey into outer space and then safely return you to planet earth. Led Zeppelin wanted to take you to the middle of nowhere, rip your clothes off and then just leave your ass there.
My favorite band of all time is Pink Floyd. But if you ask me who the greatest rock band of all time is I'll answer instantly: Led Zeppelin. That's just the way it is!
Much as I love Pink Floyd I'll respectfully disagree with you. Most of my crowd would say Led Zeppelin. But certainly both would be in anybody's top five list!
Literally makes me smile to see another generation hearing Led Zeppelin with the same amazement I had so many years ago. As I get older and older its tougher and tougher to find common bonds that make me feel some type of connection to a younger generation. I try my damndest to keep up with whats considered cool or trendy or popular but its really cool to see younger people go back and appreciate the things I grew up liking. Great group. Great song. Great reaction.
The problem with your account & explanation about the drum reverb, is it actually belongs to another (earlier) song - 'When the Levee Breaks', which was recorded in the stairwell at a place called Hedley Grange - all of which produced more reverb than Kashmir. I'm not sure that there has ever been a similar statement made surrounding the recording of Kashmir.
Robert Plant and Jimmy Page have both publicly acknowledged Kashmir as their crowning achievement and the song they are most proud of. It took them 3 years to get the song just the way they wanted it. The song was started in 1972 and completed in 1975. John Bonham used the heaviest drumsticks he could find for the pronounced effect on percussion. He said it was the most exhausting song to do on drums of any Zeppelin song but also the most enjoyable. John Paul Jones keyboard part gives off the middle to far east tinge to the song. No doubt a masterpiece.
I absolutely love your reaction, you picked a masterpiece as your introduction to Led Zeppelin. Greatest band to ever grace the planet, all 4 are musical geniuses, with so many great songs. I know this is from 3 years ago, but thank you for your great reaction.
John Bonham, the greatest rock drummer ever! These drums were recorded in the staircase of a castle with only three microphones, which is why they sound so huge with the natural reverb, along with a tape delay. What a band! Don't get me started. Fun to watch people react the first time!
The most technical part about his drums and what makes this one stand out, is he is playing 3/3 measures while the rest is in 4/4. Only 1 in 12 beats hits the "strong" band ones and it's all the more mesmerizing. He is, without any doubt, the best ever.
@@applesaus395 OK - Most of the times this thing comes up is concerning When the Levee Break and not Kashmir. So anyway, why does this happen? It's because Jimmy Page reminisced about it on the "It might get Loud" documentary when he went back to Hedley Grange and he was in said stairwell. Since that, a lot of theories have spun out out concerning the "natural" reverb of the drums - but the reverb wasn't natural. Don't take it from me as I'm not an musician or sound engineer and have no idea about drumming, rather you can hear it from the actual people who set up the microphones in this great video from Rick Beato where he features the engineers: ua-cam.com/video/XZYDDX1DHDU/v-deo.html . Rick also did another great video that explains the John Boham sound, great watch for any Led Zep fan. You see, the three mic setup was a genuine thing used by Led Zeps' band - check out the vid especially 09:40, ua-cam.com/video/KjSgXZHBkhg/v-deo.html, but while they did use the three mics and they did use Hedley grange, it's not what gave the echo as he explains in the first vid. I was 13 when I first heard Kashmir, I would play it over and over, eventually I got tired of moving the arm to the last song so I would start at the beginning, 58 now, still hooked. Great to see him getting into it.
the meaning of perfection is Led Zeppelin, I have never seen such a perfect synchrony between voice and instrumental, in addition to the lyrics being extremely complex and philosophical and Kashmir translates all that.
No, because Zeppelin has a STRICT policy of guarding their songs on YT, or any other forum from illegally recording them. They even make sure Hollywood pays them handsomely if they do use a loan of their songs (Thor) and they don’t readily give them up for soundtracks. Cadillac had to pay them millions just for a 15 second background snippet. So sorry
They are downright hypnotizing for sure and thankyou for actually listening all the way through without pausing it ten times as some reactors do. You respect the music, more than showing out for your viewers, and it shows. I like you man.
The best rock band of all time. I don’t compare them with Pink Floyd because you cannot compare apples and oranges. Both are the best of what they did. Period. And yeah, some drugs were involved when I saw LZ in 1973. Lord have mercy! Annie
I was able to see their last concert in the US, in 1977 at the Oakland coliseum. It was surreal, on the grass seating, I was able to walk right up to the fence at the stage. At one point I turned back to return to those I can with, there was a huge cloud of smoke that hung over the grass and filled the stadium, lol
Yeah, yeah, you are in for a beautiful journey. I envy you sir. I wish I was just discovering them for the first time too. That being said it's a joy to watch your reaction. Bon Voyage!
Wow, your reaction was great! This song just reaches in and grabs your soul. Led Zeppelin and Queen are my favourites, but there’s also Cream, Credence Clearwater Revival, Pink Floyd...The sort of music that can transport you to another place, make you cry, send shivers down your spine and take you on a psychedelic trip. You’ve listened to Pink Floyd so I know you know what I’m talking about. You are the first reactor I’ve seen who admits that current music is missing something. The old bands didn’t have auto tune, they had to be able to play their instruments, write their own music and sing in tune. Please check out Led Zeps Stairway to Heaven live at MSG. It’s probably their most well known song, but what a performance it is! And can I suggest Queen, Somebody to Love live version at Montreal
As a old man from the UK it is nice to see you young black Americans enjoying this music because it was black Americans in the 1940's to 1960's that influenced many of our bands of that era. My favourite artist is still Bille Holiday what a voice
Bless you for calling out the reality of today's music got to learn your instruments got to learn your composition ...the song you just heard is what I grew up with and I was waiting for something better to come along I just haven't heard it yet!
"In My Time of Dying" studio version, but the best way to grow with Zeppelin is to start from the beginning as so many of us have, so the first album is called Led Zeppelin, very bluesy with some hard hitting rock, and a little folk, "Good Times Bad Times would be the beginning of it all, and what a beginning
This was the first Led Zeppelin song I heard, my brother played it for me when I was a kid It was released the same year I was born 1975 so literally grew up listen to it. I have a connection with this song on a very deep level, it also inspired my love for classical music. Fun fact: The movie your referencing is the "Matrix" at the ending scene "Wake Up" by Rage Against the Machine plays and their song pays homage in the intro to Kashmirs classic string arrangement.
Led Zepplin - Stairway to Heaven - Dyer Maker - Rock n Roll - Over the Hills and Far away .......and Many More...you can't go wrong with any song they are all Classic Hits!
Can’t tell you how happy it makes this honorary light skin brother from Cleveland seeing you rocking and enjoying this great band and the music from the era I grew up in. Subscribed
Led Zeppelin never recorded one bad song, ever, and I have listened to their entire canon since I was in high school. It's unheard of even for the best bands.
I'm not sure how old this young man is but I can tell he's younger than me. I didn't grow up in the 70s (80s/90s for me) but I heard all these songs alot growing up. I LOVE seeing young people discovering timeless music like this song. It just warms my heart.
You may be familiar with Puff Daddy’s ‘Come With Me’ featuring Jimmy Page (of Led Zeppelin) where they use this song as the background music. If not, check it out. Excellent song in its own right. Love your reactions. The Deep Purple and Jethro Tull rabbit holes are waiting for you when you’re ready. Thank you for sharing your reactions. It’s great to see people hearing these great artists for the first time.
Was reading comments just to see if someone would say this. Ironically, most of D. Mont's "uh's" through out sound like "uh's" I've heard Puffy make in songs.
Awesome reaction Man you moved me! I saw them at Madison Square Garden in NY when I was 17, I am 67 now and still love them, and the fact that you want to hear more warms my heart, and i just earlier saw your Pink Floyd reactions, Dogs etc. and am happy for yoiu that you have such a treasure trove ahead of you. Great Man!!! I'll keep checkin' back (: ..
These guys are the masters of turning Blues into Rock, and about any other Genre ! "Stairway to Heaven" is a classic you might enjoy, also " No Quarter" and " Babe i'm Gonna leave You" , just to name a few. Their play list is nearly endless .
The enjoyment you get from listening to this band is that you can listen to the song entirely or listen to each instrument individually and it's so good.. The mixing, the technique/style of each musician....it is timeless...
I am betting that if he listens to enough Zep / Pink Floyd that picture of Jordan will move to another room and it will be replaced by one of those bands photos.....any takers?
I love exploring and finding new music I never would have thought of liking. I was first introduced to Led Zeppelin when I was a teenager working at a pizza restaurant. The key to happiness at least in my mind is being open to new things and NEVER stop learning!
I'm 55, and Led Zeppelin is still my #2 of all time, the Beatles of course is #1. There is a band from the same era called "Quicksilver Messenger Service", check out their song "What about Me", you won't believe how true it is today, it was released in 1970, amazing song!
Roadkill's comment is spot on. I bought my first Pink Floyd LP in 1973, Dark Side of the Moon. Still have it, still listen to it. Favorite band of mine for sure. BUT Led Zeppelin is by far the best rock band ever. If you have never done it you MUST do at least one Zepithon in your life. I do this over many weekends in the summer while sitting out in the sun on my terrace. Enjoy the ride!
D. Mont The Genius, watcching your reaction reminds me of my first time hearing Kashmir. I bought the album the day it was released in the US. When I got home after work I had to play it immediately. My girlfriend was making supper, I put it on, turned it up and starting doing some cleaning. When this tune came up, I turned it up a notch and was bopping like you, and then was dancing all around the living room and into the kitchen, grabbed my girl and we danced like two butterflies on a slight summer breeze. It was great.
Yeah man, you hit 'IT' square on the head when you said "These Bands Today, Just Don't Got 'IT' like They Did Back Then" (Paraphrase). These 'Iconic' GROOVES' have been simi duplicated & imitated multiple times over & over.. Even used 'In Part' in dozens of Movies & other Musical groups compositions throughout the decades.. BUT when ya get down to the O.G.s it's simply hits and sways your soul..
Everyone loves Stairway to Heaven (including me) and most people think of Stairway when you say Led Zeppelin. For Zep fans "their Stairway" is Kashmir. I have too many Zep songs as favorites to name them all as they are my favorite band. I have seen Plant in concert 12 times and while I'm just a few years too young to see them in concert I had the pleasure of seeing Plant and Page live in Atlanta '95 for the No Quarter tour.
Please PLEASE do Dazed and Confused, us Zeppelin fans have heard it more times than can be counted but watching people react to it has been amazing, it's such an incredible and dynamic song.
This song is from 1975 and it still sounds fresh . Besides all those amazing songs, the way this album was recorded makes it totally unique. Zeppelin on a good sound system is something every rock music lover should experience . I also have to say that it's really cool to see young people appreciate this band . Even if you think you don't like classic rock , you probably haven't heard anything like Led Zeppelin. They had good songs on every album and each album was totally different than the previous one. They were so versatile that you're bound to hear something you like if you listen to all their material.
Gods and dragons live when you listen to this band. They were known as "The Hammer of the Gods" for a reason. 😉 John Henry Bonham is a drummer extraordinaire. Check out "Four Sticks" and "No Quarter".
Led Zeppelin were an English rock band formed in London in 1968. The group consisted of vocalist Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page, bassist/keyboardist John Paul Jones, and drummer John Bonham.
Mr Genius, you made the comment about talent, techniques of old school vs today's music. Is this why I see so many younger people reacting to the music I grew up with? I truly enjoy watching these reactions. And in watching these it makes me appreciate so much more what I took for granted in my youth.
5 tunes to blow you away from these and Pink Floyd- 1. Stairway to heaven 2. No quarter 3.in the light 4. (Pink Floyd) comfortably numb (preferably Pulse Live) 5. Shine on you crazy diamond (pulse live album again!)
Classic rock was made to be played live. These bands traveled the world playing every night every place they could. You get really good when you do that for years and years. Its so different now. Live music isnt in demand like it was back then. Rush - Xanadu (exit stage left) is another classic
Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd are the greates bands ever. They changed my life. Some tracks u should listen are dazed and confused, stairway to heaven, achilles last stand, since ive been loving you, immigrant song, no quarter, when the leeve breaks, babe im gonna leave you, in my time of dying. And songs of Pink Floyd u must listen the great gig in the sky, money, us and them, echoes, pigs, what do you want from me, coming back to life and much more! Greetings from Monterrey Mexico!
I grew up in San Diego on the beach in 1980s Zeppelin was the first tape I put in the player of my car, everytime! Loved this song forever, Robert Plant Holy shit! It takes you to a different world your there in the desert with him it's just incredible!
Back in the day...when radio stations spun records. This was the DJ bathroom break song. Timeless and classic still to this day. Great reaction!! PF and LZ the two greatest bands ever
So many fantastic groups from that era...the one I came of age in. I just found you by accident tonite on u tube and have watched for more than an hour your ddiscovering Zeppelin (yes, pronounced "Zeplin") and Floyd...my two favorite groups, but there is so much more...like Chest Fever by The Band or Shine on Brightly by Procol Harum. Music has been my passion since I can remember and since I am alone and my closest friends are not into what I am music my, I have to say tonite has been absolutely wonderful sharing your reactions, like I did in the late 60's-early 70's stoned with my college musician friends. So glad I found you!! You made this old Hippie very happy tonite...and for more times, I am sure. By the way, my two sons grew up on all this hard rock, and a favorite was "21st Century Schizoid Man" by King Crimson. I hope you can find it. (Oh yeah the list I alone could give you!)
Yes, if you like this you really have to try Dazed And Confused -- a spooky blues in 3/4 time, with some truly iconic special-effects guitar sounds in the middle section. In these little rock bands, everybody has got to be working to carry the song well, and these guys are all standouts individually - back in the day when we were all stoned and listening with full attention to every note, and the musicians knew it and gave us everything they could :)
Fans may suggest "Stairway to Heaven," "Whole Lotta Love," etc. but you must react to "For Your Life." Jimmy Page (guitarist) said that the song is the perfect encapsulation of their entire band's musical existence.
They're so special. Check out Whole lot of love, but their number classic and number one most requested song in the 20th century is Stairway to Heaven.
Great poster of MJ`s final shot! Black and white with only MJ in colour. I forgot to comment that Led Zeppelin is my go to rock band. They are in all my play lists.
Great choice for a first song reaction by Zeppelin. You may have heard this via Puff Daddy's Come With Me off Godzilla soundtrack, where he hooked up with Jimmy Page. If not there, then you probably heard the pure awesomeness that is original Zeppelin.
Unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension: a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You’re moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas. You’ve just crossed over into… the Twilight Zone.” ― Rod Serling

I was there too!
Day on the green love.
Some other good Led Zep tracks include 'Whole lotta love', 'Dazed and confused' and 'Stairway to heaven'.
Live!
Dazed and confused is probably my favorite
Some other good Led Zep tracks? Really?
@@wendydotson8891 long version
Dazed and confused is my favorite "soul of a woman was created below" is literally the best line of lyrics ever written.
That was the legendary John Henry Bonham on the kit. You'll hear more throughout your jouney..
cheers!! stay safe ☮
I am 63 and I still listen to them. Kashmir is my throw head back, close eyes and FEEL.
I love the way this guy enjoys one of my favourite tunes ever 👍
Pure talent. That is what many artist these days lack.
THATS WHAT YOU CALL TRUE ARTISTS. AMAZING!
As a old man from the UK it is nice to see you young black Americans enjoying this music because it was black Americans in the 1940's to 1960's that influenced many of our bands of that era. My favourite artist is still Bille Holiday what a voice
Check out their studio version of *Achilles Last Stand.* That is Jimmy Page’s (guitarist) magnum opus and favourite Led Zeppelin song.
Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Steely Dan is a solid start!
Oh yes, very solid.
Subscribed
These drums are trible!!!! ❤
Led Zeppelin is regarded by many to be one of the best if not the best rock bands of all time!! Many many more songs to react to from them!!!!!!
Please do their song "Dazed and Confused" Oh, and turn it up!!
But better live version believe me pls
Led Zeppelin never recorded one bad song, ever, and I have listened to their entire canon since I was in high school. It's unheard of even for the best bands.
"Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" a must hear by them..
A must to see how amazing they Still Are. Revisit and React to:
Kashmir - Live from Celebration Day
Music of the late '60s and '70s were the best we ever had.
I'm not sure how old this young man is but I can tell he's younger than me. I didn't grow up in the 70s (80s/90s for me) but I heard all these songs alot growing up. I LOVE seeing young people discovering timeless music like this song. It just warms my heart.
This was when music was worth listening to. It was called talent
You didn’t know about the Big beats of the Mighty Led Zeppelin! Great Reaction!
From a Godzilla movie
Was reading comments just to see if someone would say this.
Ironically, most of D. Mont's "uh's" through out sound like "uh's" I've heard Puffy make in songs.
Unbelievable... listening to your first led Zep tune and it's Kashmir.
Enjoy the ride
Awesome reaction Man you moved me! I saw them at Madison Square Garden in NY when I was 17, I am 67 now and still love them, and the fact that you want to hear more warms my heart, and i just earlier saw your Pink Floyd reactions, Dogs etc. and am happy for yoiu that you have such a treasure trove ahead of you. Great Man!!! I'll keep checkin' back (: ..
I love your reaction...you made me feel it all over again
You gotta taste 'the Rain Song'...'In My Time of Dying' ...'the Immigrant Song(studio)' ....'the Ocean' ...'Black Dog' and 'Four Sticks' as well.
These guys are the masters of turning Blues into Rock, and about any other Genre ! "Stairway to Heaven" is a classic you might enjoy, also " No Quarter" and " Babe i'm Gonna leave You" , just to name a few. Their play list is nearly endless .
The enjoyment you get from listening to
this band is that you can listen to the song entirely or listen to each instrument individually and it's so good..
The mixing, the technique/style of each musician....it is timeless...
I am betting that if he listens to enough Zep / Pink Floyd that picture of Jordan will move to another room and it will be replaced by one of those bands photos.....any takers?
Maybe a slide to the left, but yes... :)
Prince got a lot of his influences through David gilmour's guitar playing Jimmy Page's playing in all the greats from the 60s and 70s
floyd, zeppelin, you cant go wrong,so many badass bands back then
Yeah man, you hit 'IT' square on the head when you said "These Bands Today, Just Don't Got 'IT' like They Did Back Then" (Paraphrase). These 'Iconic' GROOVES' have been simi duplicated & imitated multiple times over & over.. Even used 'In Part' in dozens of Movies & other Musical groups compositions throughout the decades.. BUT when ya get down to the O.G.s it's simply hits and sways your soul..
The bass drums sound like Godzilla stomping his way toward your town. Windows trembling with each sonic BOOM!!
Dazed and Confused next. Then When The Levee Breaks. Over The Hills, then Fool In the Rain to show you the range.
I've known these songs most my life. To see someone experience it for the first time.
Moody Blues is another great band. 50 years finally in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. I cried Watching them. I smile watching you.😘😘😊
Please PLEASE do Dazed and Confused, us Zeppelin fans have heard it more times than can be counted but watching people react to it has been amazing, it's such an incredible and dynamic song.
The yesteryear Band's had PASSION in their hearts for music. IMHO that's what is missing today.
You are CORRECT. The music was unbelievable back in the 70’s‼️‼️‼️‼️ Thankyou for enjoying our music !! RIP JOHN BONHAM ‼️‼️‼️‼️🙏🏻❤️🎶🎵
I love watching this guy's reaction and his obvious love of music!
Gods and dragons live when you listen to this band. They were known as "The Hammer of the Gods" for a reason. 😉 John Henry Bonham is a drummer extraordinaire. Check out "Four Sticks" and "No Quarter".
Best rock group in history. Epic song
5 tunes to blow you away from these and Pink Floyd-
1. Stairway to heaven
2. No quarter
3.in the light
4. (Pink Floyd) comfortably numb (preferably Pulse Live)
5. Shine on you crazy diamond (pulse live album again!)
Greatest band of all time.
Please play LED ZEPPELIN Since IVE BEEN LOVING YOU live 1973 Madison Square garden, thank you
Not the live version. Studio is so much better.
@@jamescourtney2318 incorrect. The '73 MSG version is way way better
Back in the day...when radio stations spun records. This was the DJ bathroom break song. Timeless and classic still to this day. Great reaction!! PF and LZ the two greatest bands ever
I recommend your next Led Zeppelin song: “Babe, I’m Gonna Leave You”
So many fantastic groups from that era...the one I came of age in.
I was in Kashmir 35 years ago. You can feel the mountains and the lakes and the hashish in the song.
My ultimate favorite song!!! Led Zeppelin is my ultimate favorite band!!
The magic happens when you have musicians that can perform! Something extra happens on stage that doesn't usually happen in a studio.
Great choice for a first song reaction by Zeppelin. You may have heard this via Puff Daddy's Come With Me off Godzilla soundtrack, where he hooked up with Jimmy Page. If not there, then you probably heard the pure awesomeness that is original Zeppelin.
They were, are and WILL ALWAYS BE the ultimate rock band.
Greatest Rock n Roll band in history. No other band comes within a million miles of this POWER HOUSE. GREATEST DRUMMER GREATEST LEAD GUITARIST GREATEST BASS / KEYBOARD ARTIST ..GREATEST VOCALIST.....EVER. THE LEAD GUITAR 🎸 PLAYER CREATED THIS ICONIC BAND IN ,1968. JIMMY PAGE.
Oh to be listening to this for the first hundred times. I'm into the thousands.
Still sound amazeballs.
