Seeing cyberpunk and "old" really made me feel how time flies, I still remember enjoying it at release like it was yesterday...I actually enjoyed it a ton, lucky to have relatively few bugs, and playing it at release and without following any hype I had zero expectations, zero knowledge of the uproar and I was just playing it blind, wouldn't do it differently. Also wow! Armored core 6, enjoy! Solid solid game, banger soundtrack
Yep woke up feeling the same way today, I think if your brain is telling you time is moving too fast it’s time to get on the grind more. And do something worthy to improve yourself other than grind games (I’m not dissing I used to grind games a lot myself) but since I’ve been playing single player games (less hours) I’ve been realising there’s much more to life and games should be a few days a week not something to treat yourself to every single day. That’s when life has felt like it passes me by for me.
I feel you bro. Thats why i just buy games that are not over 16 hours I will never finish them anyway. I also just play when i finished all my duties and learned for driving school. Otherwise i will do nothing except playing a game for 1 hour and im unhappy and dont know why and i watch youtube eat and sleep. Its the to high dopamine
Even 10 hour game feels so long I need a game that takes 3-5 hours to finish, more than that it feels like a job rather than a game @@Sneaky_racoon_sly
Cyberpunk really really taught me this lesson, lol. I never bought into the initial hype of 2077, so didn't pick it up during the disastrous launch. Now, 2.0 update and Phantom Liberty have made the game one of my favourites of all time, and I'm so glad I didn't experience the game in its tainted form.
I literally finisished the story last night! I waited till after the updates and Phantom Liberty and its now one of my faverate games. Gonna take a break but I can't wait to return to Night CIty and try out mods
This is always weird as somebody who did pick up CP2077 at launch, experienced genuienly almost 0 bugs and did a full playthrough having a blast with it. Phantom Liberty genuienly made it a different game, from a gameplay perspective and while most things have gotten better I must admit some of the older mechanics/previous gameplay had it's charms (to me) as well. I guess I got very lucky in terms of bugs.
@DutchThriceman Ah, that's interesting, lol. I just saw all the shit on UA-cam and PlayStation delisting the game, which was crazy. And, yeah, Phantom Liberty is special. I hope CDPR really take all they learnt into the next game, dude. It's gonna be so special if they do.
I hopped on cyberpunk on version 1.5 in pc and fell in love with it then . I wasn’t able to play 2.0 and phantom liberty since my pc couldn’t hand the 2.0 update reqs but since getting a new pc and finally revisiting it with the dlc I love it even more now . Definitely in my top 5
I’m recently playing older game series and backlogged titles. Finished the first two Metro games, playing Bioshock 1 and 2 and then moving to Fallout: New Vegas. Having a great time so far exploring these short, but well-established game titles. After Baldur’s Gate 3 (which was a 10/10 experience), I want to take a break from games that take weeks to finish, instead enjoying smaller but tasteful bites.
I'm in the same boat. I've maybe played 1 or 2 too many open world games over the last generation and they start to burn me out now. I've taken a break from ff7 rebirth even though I'm loving it but the size of the game feels overwhelming at times. Once I've finished that I'll probably leave it a few years before playing open world games again.
Totally agree - currently playing Fallout 3. Returning to games after a 10+ year gap on newer hardware really allows you to appreciate the game without limitations imposed by the original hardware at release. Often, playing in this way leads me to see how some games were way ahead of their time.
Not specifically this year but, in the most recent months I have been playing a lot of backlogged games and it has been a blast, amazing experiences such as Elden Ring, The Witcher 3, Final Fantasy XV, taking another shot at Risk of Rain 2. Been having fun, creating content and enjoying myself. Great video, keep up the amazing work!
So many gamers who are finally waking up. I'm happy to see this development. My last featured game was diablo 4, I played through the story within 2 weeks and have never touched it since. And that despite the biggest edition I had paid for... that was the point at which I vowed not to pre-order any more games, let alone buy them at full price. I still have what feels like an infinite number of unplayed games in my library due to many sales, that's enough playing time for the rest of my life... 😄🙈
Yeah its about time, we as avid gamers play at our pace and not take the hype and pay $70 for a launch day game with shitty bugs, unoptimizie and agenda dei games
I just got ufo 50, and that game is literally just a collection of games meant to be like old nes titles. I highly recommend it if your interested in the art of games as a medium, it’s one of the most value for your money experiences out there rn
I just discovered this game a week ago. My only problem is that it's PC only at the moment. This game screams for a Switch port. When it's releasing there, I'll definitely buy it.
@@nyuszicsib 100% i was very unsure whether or not i should just wait for a switch port, but i decided to just go all in. when they do release it on switch, i will probably buy it again lol, considering the amount of co op games, and playing this portably sounds great.
@@brunoactis1104 maybe i didnt word it correctly so i apologize for that. but what i was trying to get at is, its a facsinating game that was had so much work put into it, and showcases how far we have come as a industry. blending old games look and feel, with the modern game design makes this a really special game imo. i think this applies to ufo 50 because it represents so much of videogame history and how far we have come.
I finally got a really nice PC recently, and the first thing I did was grab a bunch of absolute all timer games that I either never finished or just wanted to play again with ultra settings. The best part is the price. I got complete editions of Witcher 3, both Mordor games and Nier Automata for like a combined $20. 😊
100% agree. Usually I was buying a game at launch… but bad optimisation just became usual stuff. Now I’m playing games that are older min on 2-3 years. Just started far cry 3 few days ago… god…what a game ! Nostalgia
Love playing older games nowadays. Especially since the hype dies down from its initial release you get a way more unbiased way to experience it. Also if it was really good you'd probably know that its worth investing your time in . Just completed Nier Automata last week and it was a blast and real introspective.Great video!
I am also playing through Cyberpunk at the moment, my first playthrough. That said, what I find amusing about this video is context: I'd consider all of these NEW games. The Old games I've been playing this year so far: Dragon Quest 3 on GBC, Tomb Raider on PS1, Heroes of Might and Magic 2, Shining Force on Genesis. THOSE are old games. The newest one on that list is 24-years old. No shade, I enjoyed the video and your calm voice.
I guess OLD is relative to the age of the player. I am in my 50s. Anything after 2010 I consider NEW. The 2000s OLD and pre-2000 RETRO. Most games I play are from the 2000s.
That's a nice list of old games ! If you liked Shining Force and Dragon Quest you should try Fire Emblem on GBA; if you liked HOMM2 there's quite a rabbit hole of custom maps and games for you there
@@geoff-brady I just hit my 30s and time is starting to REALLY fly by.... people in my local warhammer group are talking about old models as things I saw release new back in 2014 time moves fast
I’ve had a backlog that’s currently 6 years in the past. Haha. Only just started with the 2018 GoW. Curating my backlog, arranging them chronologically and watching review videos when I’m getting into a new one have opened up a new angle to enjoying games. I worry I may never get round to clearing my backlog because life just won’t afford me the time, but I still love the promise of looking forward to getting into universally critically acclaimed titles. That said, I’m getting GTA VI at launch and taking a week or two off of work!
So glad I waited before buying Cyberpunk. My first play through was well after the 2.0 update, I've completed it 3 times this year and loved my time with it 🙌🏻
I wholeheartedly agree . I mostly buy (or emulate if it’s a retro game and not on steam ) older games . I’ve actually really been enjoying some 90s and early 2000s titles lately . A big reason I don’t really buy new games is because games like Elden ring , bg3 and cyberpunk (ever since I got it at v1.5 ) really changed my view on what a games worth . Comparing other $60-$70 games to those ones just don’t really make it seem worth the cost since they offer much less than the mentioned titles . Hell the only game coming out next year I’m 100% getting on release and paying full price for is kingdom come deliverance 2 and that’s because the first game blew me away and warhorse studio is an awesome studio I really wanna support and see succeed . Plenty of other great games I haven’t played yet from every generation though so there’s already enough good games to keep me busy for a lifetime
I love Arkane but never finished their older stuff. Finished Prey earlier this year, and just finished Dishonored the other night. Onto number 2 now and loving it! Great advice I 100% back
I definitely agree that the pre 2015 games are generally the best quality, The only 2 somewhat modern games that I played a lot were Mass Effect Legendary Edition & RE4 Remake, And they're even remakes of older games.
I haven’t bought a “new” game since God of War 2018. I have a house and 2 kids now and simply can’t really afford to spend that much money at once on a hobby. I do exactly as you mentioned in this video and wait a year or two and get the game at a discount.
*these past 2 years have been mostly 360 era games for me 👌 Bully, GTA4, Splinter Cell Blacklist and Double Agent, Banjo Kazooie trilogy, Forza Horizon, Sonic Adventure, Far Cry 2, Hitman Absolution, Street Fighter 4, Killer Is Dead, RDR1, Metal Gear Revengence, AC1 and 2, Tekken 6, Mirrors Edge, Binary Domain, on and on 😍 were definitely in the Decade Of The Backlog and its been SUPER enjoyable for me* 👍
I used to play older games by 2007 such as metal gear and many more, i took care of my family and my health changing my life drastically (I am a cooking enthusiast who practice intermittent fasting), and i came back thanks for people on youtube Vtubers, modders, content creators. It age like wine; can feel good now, and later is even better.
A year ago i made a list of all the games i really want to finish. A mixture of old and new and its been the most fun ive had gaming in a long time. I dont feel compelled to buy the next big thing and im taking joy in not feeling pressure to rush through games for fomo. Its also allowed me to select a variety of genres that i might not have played otherwise.
I feel like older games (and art of all sorts like film, music, etc) really captures the feeling of the era. I started dragon quest 8 recently and it just feels different. The game is not trying to upsell you on microtransactions, it’s okay not holding your hand, etc. It feels like a quick time capsule for what 2005 felt like. Like the game begs to be played when your family still had a dial up connection with your annoying little brother asking for a turn next to you.
In the last month playing backlog finished RDR (PS3), gravity rush (PS4) Alice madness returns (PS3), tomb raider 2013 (PS3), enslaved (PS3) and just getting around to spec ops the line My backlot is crazy big and well it's time to get my money and time worth
How much I paid for a game definitely changes my perspective on it. Definitely the normal “paying full price and barely playing a game vs playing a lot of a cheap game” but also like what you were saying with AC6, there’s usually some number with a game where it’s like “okay this experience to me is worth x$ amount” and I don’t care if I end up not playing it immediately, or like it as much as I thought I did. Great video man.
Interesting topic. I've actually been having an almost inverse of your experience. I always play games 3 to 5 years after release, and only recently started buying games at launch, and I'm surprised by the sense of excitement and wonder that I've almost never felt playing old games. And it's not about the community, since I don't engage that much online either way. But just knowing that this is the newest thing, and in some way present something I've never experienced before, fills me with excitement. I felt it when I played Elden Rings on launch, and felt it with the recent Silent Hill 2.
Nostalgia. You mentioned it at the end, but it's a big part of enjoying older games, especially for older gamers. Games are such a unique way to revisit the past and evoke memories from the time you first played them.
I played fallout 3 back on the 360 when it came out but never played new Vegas until earlier this year. What a game. Also the loading time on our current day hardware is amazing. Everything loads up in a instant
Great video! I think you nailed a lot of great points. For single player games, being a patient gamer is the way to go, in my opinion. I'm currently eyeing the new Silent Hill remaster that just came out for pc, but I don't feel like I'm missing out by waiting until it's at a price that I think is more worth it. On the other hand, multiplayer games are a lot more fun during that "exploration" phase that you mentioned, where everyone is figuring out the game and having a good time. It's really fun to be a part of a community in its infancy and watch it mature, and sometimes you only get that experience if you jump in at release.
I totally agree, I've been having a blast with older games. So many JRPG's I missed out on during the PS4 era so I've been catching up on those. Currently obsessed with Ys VIII.
Cyberpunk 2077 is one of favorite games, and one of the best games of all time. I played it after watching Edgerunners and it was fantastic. Now it's even better since it's officially complete with patches. I envy people who will play it in it's final form for their first playthrough.
Cyberpunk got into my top 5 video games of all time list because I brought it this year on sale. I don’t know if I would feel this strongly about this game had I brought it at launch with its issues.
i took PTO when cyberpunk dropped and played on ps4 for 5 days straight when it came out. I just saved often and accepted that it was a break when it crashed and rebooted every couple hours. i thinik fondly of that weekend to this day. (and i didn't see complaints about performance because all i was doing was playing cyberpunk)
I did this exact thing yesterday with Matrix. I watched it for the first time and wasn’t prepared for the plot twist. I didn‘t get spoiled for 25 years and it was absolutely worth it as the whole concept got a very creepy tone with all the latest AI developments.
100%. For new games I want it to be complete & fully playable on launch, so for most mainstream games I wait for reviews & patches because too many are just broken at launch. Older games & their issues are at least beatable as is on disc/cart/steam.
Recently was given a PS4 and I’m loving it. Friend also borrowed me his FFX and man, what a Game. Today I went and checked some prices and PS4 Games are going for around €15-20 here where I am. Brand new too!
I'm currently playing the grandfather of Cyberpunk 2077 - Deus Ex: Human Revolution and I'm having tons of fun. I'll play Deus Ex: Mankind Divided next. And I will continue to play older games, realizing I missed a lot of hidden gems I never played before. Also, Fears to Fathom, other JRPGs, replaying DMC3 on NS, planning to replay the Suikoden I&II HD remastered, and so on. I'm not currently interested on the trends and new releases, as long as I'm having fun atm it feels great!!
I’ve also been playing a bunch of older games on my backlog some that I played for a little bit and put down so I just bought because they were on sale!😂 some of the older titles I beat this year were snowboard kids 2, Luigi’s mansion 1 for the GameCube, and I 100% sonic adventure two. Great video
I used to buy a lot of games in Sales time, finally I found treasure old games are already in my library but never played. I try to stop to buy more new games and enjoy what I already owned.
I consider myself a value gamer. I always wait for a sale. With the exception being new gamepass releases into the service. I have a huge library of games, even going back and buying last gen back compat titles that I have found great entertainment and joy from some old games I missed. Especially on Xbox where a number of older titles actually look and play better. I have been much happier with more valued game purchases, when seeing new games launch in very poor states. Good video 👍
I have an on and off relationship with Cyberpunk 2077. Just picked it up again and I'm binging it and watching a lot of build guides on YT. So far, I'm on my third playthrough (the first two I DNF) and I have my character build locked in and have an idea of hat ending I want. I think since I'm so sucked into grinding for my sword berserker build and improving my gear and cyberware, I think I'm inadvertently going down the glory path rather than valuing my family and relationships. So, the "don't fear the reaper" ending might suit my playstyle the best. Haven't seen a game since Far Cry 3 where the playing getting sucked into a gameplay loops actually ties in with the narrative. Oh yeah it helps that I can run 2077 with full path tracing at 3440x1440. Like goddamn CDPR were cooking with this game and seing it in its finished state with the PL expansion is just amazing.
One of the main reasons I got a PC was to be able to play my favorite older games with great modern Visuals and I’ve been loving it . I have way more fun with those then the Current games that come out. Not to mention the insane steam deals lol
i'm a patient gamer as well. I usually wait a year or 18 months for modern releases until i purchase them on a discount. also, i'm in no rush to get them immediately thanks to my backlog.
Loved the concept for the video. I am playing through Jedi Fallen Order right now and having a great time. Old games are the best because they are new to the player.
Ive been on shotty laptops pretty much all my life. Recently ive acquired a low-mid end desktop computer. Looking forward to being able to play some titles now. edit: if anyone sees this in 2024/5 hmu with any older games youd recommend!
the first 5 mins of the game is exactly what I've been thinking. pretty much exact same older games i'm getting into right now too. Haven't bought a game for more than $30 in so long. Call of duty cold war was the game that broke me mentally with the money. $110 aud and it was so bleh. Also buying older games you are able to get the game of the year addition so easily. And some games can bring back what it felt to game back in the day.
Love this video and totally agree, I see people hating on PS5 and lack of games but since I’ve owned that console I’ve mainly gone back and played games I missed last gen but with rock solid 60fps and fewer bugs then they had at launch. And it’s also got some great first party new gen games too, so it’s a win win for me
I am about to wrap up my first play through of half life 2 thanks to your recommendation. Before hopping in to another game I honestly want to play it once more.
Playing Fallout 4 with an RTX4070 is awesome. Graphics are cranked up all the way. The game runs super smooth! Paid five dollars for the game and five dollars a piece for 2 expansion packs.
I just started playing through need for speed underground 2 with undergroundnet mod. Also thinking about picking up metro exodus and bf2049. I always play games 2-3 years after their release for not being able to afford them on launch and tbh it makes the experience much better for me. I find the games enjoyable and fluent in performance
i came from console then i bought a steam deck. man a whole new world opened to me with all these mods. im currently and exclusively play "last gen" games on the deck and im having a blast. Plus Steam always has these dirt cheap sales... ive played dishonored 1+2 , bioshock 1-3 , witcher 3 and im going to start with fallout 4 next week. these games mostly have a goty edition and you sometimes get them dirt cheap. last sale ive got witcher 3 and the whole bioshock franchise for under 20 bucks and these games make a lot of fun on the steam deck.
The thing that's good about new movies at least is you can go to a movie theater on Tuesdays for like $4-6 a ticket and not get any food at least, I can totally understand waiting for streaming though. I've already streamed some new ones.
Right now it one of those rare moments where I'm very busy playing a lot of new games like Caravan Sandwitch, Gori Cuddly Carnage, YS X Nordics, and Dead Island 2, but after I finish all of those I'm most likely to go back to older titles like Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, Marvel's Spiderman, and a Hat In Time before I finally, FINALLY upgrade to the PS5 😂😂😂
A lot of these aren’t really that old though but i understand the message. Basically avoiding day 1 releases for already released or retro which is what i am currently doing.
thought this video would be about games from the 90s at least xD. I still haven't played Dishonored or Deus Ex from 2016 or Prey 2017, they are still very new to me and looking next gen
Lessons in life ive learned through out the years is no# 1 never pre order, #2 only buy games on sale, #3 preferably buy games only after 2 to 3yrs bcoz by then its patched up and bundled w/dlc and its in the best state its intended to be played. Right now im playing through cyberpunk, fallout 4 and red dead 2 on my ps5 and totally loving em
hey i loved your vidoe and in one part you said you use some mods for fallout 4, I have been trying to get back in to the game, and I just wanted to know what mods do you use.
I'm pretty sure BBK did a video on this earlier in the year or around when the Fallout show dropped. I think you'll find it if you UA-cam his name and the game.
Also you should mention about old games(6th, 7th gen) that were released on PC and are still available. There are countless cheap but good games that you can play.
Maybe its my age but i was just playing donkey kong country and super metroid yesterday while remembering the hype for each of these games before release. I dont see games from two years ago as old.
I have a rule with myself that i only buy games on sale. By that time all the final patches have come out and the game is in its best form. I just finished rdr2 and what an incredible ride! Plus it only cost me $10.
Hi there, quick question; did you follow or install a specific modlist for Fallout 4 or just modded it yourself? I love the way your FO4 looks and would like to do a playthrough. Currently going through New Vegas with the Viva New Vegas modlist and it's a blast and FO4 is next on my list.
Honestly I'm like 6-7 years behind everyone else but it's fine, for me RDR2 and Detroit : Become Human were "new" titles for me, and I had a blast playing them for the first time for a fraction of the price.
As I've gotten older I find I've moved away from online multiplayer games and more towards single player experiences. So for me older games are where it's at. I love seeing older games I want to play go on sale for ridiculous prices. They usually run better than newer titles and the mod support is very good. This past year I gravitated towards PC as my primary gaming system after almost 20 years as a primarily console gamer. I can never go back to consoles as my main system now. The mod support for PC games is truly game changing for me. It can breath new life into games I would have otherwise become bored with. So yeah, older games are great.
i’m hoping to get a steam deck to play old games i’m looking forward to play sonic adventure 1 and 2.Im gonna also try out half life 2!love your videos keep up the great work!
Games were just made better back in the 6th & 7th generations of gaming consoles imo. Fun factor was put first especially in the 6th generation. I still see myself going back and playing older games and having way more fun than newer titles releasing nowadays. Could be my nostalgia talking but I really do think games were just more enjoyable. Doesn’t hurt that I still have a massive backlog I need to work on too 😅
I'm a "younger" gamer (24 yo). I first played Star Wars Kotor in 2020 and I absolutely loved it. I was only 3 years old when the game released and there was no way I could play or appreciate such a game at such young age. It's now easily in top 5 games I've ever played. Amazing game with great characters and super interesting story. It's a masterpiece. I don't care about how old a game is or how good the graphics are. I only care about how good the game is or if I'm enjoying the game. And there is plenty of enjoyment in older games. I only cannot play through it if it's absolutely riddled with bugs just like how Cyberpunk 2077 was when it first released (it's now one of my favorite games, I returned to it in 2022 and loved it). I still have a huge backlog of older games I absolutely wanna play. I've yet to play games like Baldur's Gate (the older ones), Icewind Dale, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Dragon Age Origins, older Final Fantasy games and others.
Same bro. These days I don't tend to play long singleplayer games but ones which have missions or races, so that the gameplay is shorter and you still get that sense of completion.
A couple weeks ago i bought AC Odyssey at like 80% off. Absolutely incredible value at that discount level, Last time i played an AC game was AC2 like 12 years ago so its been fun pretty fun!, have already put in like 40 hours and im not running out of stufff to do anytime soon. Definitely interested in other RPG Acs now.
I just got Heavy Rain and Beyond Two Souls on Steam, having lots of fun with Heavy Rain, don't really need to play the latest games to have fun and saved a lot of money.
Nowadays games up till a decade old are still pretty good looking and gameplay-wise there isn't much changed. I recently saw the spiderman game out of 2018 and these games haven't changed a lot the past two decades. Same could be said for GTA.
I totally agree with the value proposition thing. I bought Invisible Inc for only $11 way back in 2015 and I have plugged in 500 hours into it ever since. I've beaten it in several difficulties, most especially Expert Plus, which only 1.1% of Steam users have done and I keep coming back to it every once in a while. Compare that to WWE 2k23 that I bought at full price at $100 with some added bonus aaaaaand...I only have 12 hours into it and never touched it again. It promised to be bigger and better than previous WWE 2K games but honestly they ruined the control scheme and overall feel of the gameplay that I thought was already good in 2k19, which is the one I have 50 hours in. Anyways yeah I definitely appreciate really good games more when they're on a big sale AFTER the fact. But for some games that I want immediately for full price, I only really appreciate a lot BEFORE I actually buy and play them. Hardly ever, in recent years, have I bought a game on full price and it delivered on all my expectations. Expectations might be part of the problem, but that's a whole other discussion for another. I guess to wrap up, when you buy something spectacular at a low price, the expectation threshold is much lower since you're literally getting it with a lot less risk involved. (RIP my $100 for WWE 2K23 that I'll never get back and get the full value from no matter how much I try to like that game). And so getting something amazing on sale is able to just stimulate you psychologically in feeling like we're finally getting something that we barely ever do in life: and that is something spectacular and amazing with little to no sacrifice involved.
The majority of the games I buy are on for sale. I have over 100 games. I have beaten at least 70 of them. Maybe even more. The other games that are on my list were also bought on sale. So while I wait for BO6 to get cheaper, I got other games to play. Besides, if I get disappointed, it wasn't a huge loss.
Agreed. I basically skipped the One/PS4 gen and when I came back, I had all these games that could entertain me forever for cheap, often updated. Also just works better this way (and is cheaper) when you're older and don't have the time to game all the time. PS what's the racing game that you had a few seconds of footage of?
Thats why i just buy games that are not over 16 hours
I will never finish them anyway.
It was not that long ago….😂
@grayjedi-117 Haha always makes me happy to hear there's a new Night City enjoyer 😂
After Baldur’s Gate 3 (which was a 10/10 experience), I want to take a break from games that take weeks to finish, instead enjoying smaller but tasteful bites.
agreed. I always play 1 larger open-world style game and then play a few more linear shorter games after to mix it up!
I'm playing the Metro games at the moment and having a blast. Such great story telling and immense atmosphere.
That sounds like I need to play the same ones but don’t know where to start
Just started New Vegas!
I don’t really comment on videos but these are such therapeutic part of the week listening to talk. Keeps me grounded in my gaming moods
I have also picked up the Witcher 3 after hearing nothing but great things. I finally got out of fps live service games and it's refreshing
Same thing here with me bud only "new" game I wanna grab is the thing remastered but that's because I remember it fondly back in the day
dragongs dogma 2 was my wake up call. release was an absolute nightmare, i played 32h. and it hasn't improved one bit
"The art of games as a medium"
1 Wtf does that mean exactly?
2 Wtf does that specifically have to do with UFO 50?
Nostalgia
Agree! 50-80% less for a better experience than on launch day. Also, probably your harware is better than the one that you had when the game was new.
Love playing older games nowadays. Especially since the hype dies down from its initial release you get a way more unbiased way to experience it. Also if it was really good you'd probably know that its worth investing your time in . Just completed Nier Automata last week and it was a blast and real introspective.Great video!
I highly recommend NieR:Replicant if you haven't already! Amazing game.
@stangreener1704 I have not lol . I have been interested in replicant but don't know if its as good as automata. Will add it to my list then!
If you liked Shining Force and Dragon Quest you should try Fire Emblem on GBA; if you liked HOMM2 there's quite a rabbit hole of custom maps and games for you there
@@geoff-brady I just hit my 30s and time is starting to REALLY fly by....
people in my local warhammer group are talking about old models as things I saw release new back in 2014
time moves fast
Comparing other $60-$70 games to those ones just don’t really make it seem worth the cost since they offer much less than the mentioned titles
Indeed😊
I haven’t bought a “new” game since God of War 2018. I have a house and 2 kids now and simply can’t really afford to spend that much money at once on a hobby. I do exactly as you mentioned in this video and wait a year or two and get the game at a discount.
*these past 2 years have been mostly 360 era games for me 👌 Bully, GTA4, Splinter Cell Blacklist and Double Agent, Banjo Kazooie trilogy, Forza Horizon, Sonic Adventure, Far Cry 2, Hitman Absolution, Street Fighter 4, Killer Is Dead, RDR1, Metal Gear Revengence, AC1 and 2, Tekken 6, Mirrors Edge, Binary Domain, on and on 😍 were definitely in the Decade Of The Backlog and its been SUPER enjoyable for me* 👍
You might want to try Vanquish
@@redinthesky1vanqu7sh and mgs rising raiden or whatever.
Its also allowed me to select a variety of genres that i might not have played otherwise.
funny how the channel that gives advice on playing through your backlog, made this video giving tips on how to grow your backlog lol. Great video!
In the last month playing backlog finished RDR (PS3), gravity rush (PS4) Alice madness returns (PS3), tomb raider 2013 (PS3), enslaved (PS3) and just getting around to spec ops the line
My backlot is crazy big and well it's time to get my money and time worth
Playing games that are brand new on release day is always more fun imo just more exciting than playing a 5year old game .
Same
You have no clue how helpful ur videos are after a long workday. Thank you
This video described my experience with video games this year! I’ve been playing a lot of old games and I’m having so much fun
100%. For new games I want it to be complete & fully playable on launch, so for most mainstream games I wait for reviews & patches because too many are just broken at launch.
Older games & their issues are at least beatable as is on disc/cart/steam.
Bro, your voice is so good and it's calming to hear you talk about stuff. But please, i think in video games, older means at least like 7-8 years.
Great video
Gonna mention this again - If you like Dragoon's vids, you'll love Halo CE commentary. Very down to earth and simple format.
Looking forward to being able to play some titles now.
edit: if anyone sees this in 2024/5 hmu with any older games youd recommend!
love your videos man, just started playing half life..what an incredible game it is
I'm playing Sunset Overdrive (XBOX ONE) for the first time, and it's so good! Spent $4.99 for a used copy and it's well worth that
the first 5 mins of the game is exactly what I've been thinking. pretty much exact same older games i'm getting into right now too. Haven't bought a game for more than $30 in so long. Call of duty cold war was the game that broke me mentally with the money. $110 aud and it was so bleh. Also buying older games you are able to get the game of the year addition so easily. And some games can bring back what it felt to game back in the day.
Absolutely smashing the hell out of Arkham Knight right now at 8K and it looks and plays like something out of 2035 compared to the currently slop.
Love this video and totally agree, I see people hating on PS5 and lack of games but since I’ve owned that console I’ve mainly gone back and played games I missed last gen but with rock solid 60fps and fewer bugs then they had at launch. And it’s also got some great first party new gen games too, so it’s a win win for me
Bro this is me. Started playing Death Stranding this year and it’s great.
it's been 3 days without your videos. finally we got another one
I am about to wrap up my first play through of half life 2 thanks to your recommendation. Before hopping in to another game I honestly want to play it once more.
I love this perspective. I only play single player games and it's such a great investment being patient
I find the games enjoyable and fluent in performance
love your videos, they are such a good time always
i came from console then i bought a steam deck. man a whole new world opened to me with all these mods. im currently and exclusively play "last gen" games on the deck and im having a blast. Plus Steam always has these dirt cheap sales... ive played dishonored 1+2 , bioshock 1-3 , witcher 3 and im going to start with fallout 4 next week. these games mostly have a goty edition and you sometimes get them dirt cheap. last sale ive got witcher 3 and the whole bioshock franchise for under 20 bucks and these games make a lot of fun on the steam deck.
i played cyberpunk at launch at had a fantastic time with it, i didnt get any of the bugs everyone else was talking about
The thing that's good about new movies at least is you can go to a movie theater on Tuesdays for like $4-6 a ticket and not get any food at least, I can totally understand waiting for streaming though. I've already streamed some new ones.
Hell yeah, Panam is definitely worth the wait!
I love the older games since they run very well on my Steam Deck and Legion Go and I can relax in bed or play on the go.
Bro says "old games" and it's the games Sony uses to promote the PS5 Professional. lol
Yeah I was thinking most of these games are way newer than what I play.
Patient Gaming ftw! Well, I'm gaming on an i7-920 w/1050ti so I don't have much choice, lol. Just beat the championships in Moto Racer 2, good stuff!
Beat fallout 3 last week and played skyrim for the first time beat the main quest and dragon born dlc working on dawn guard atm. Having a blast!
thought this video would be about games from the 90s at least xD.
@@fragr33f74 ok cool thanks
I got a steam deck and I'm exclusively playing games from between 1998 and 2015(+ Prey 2017)
New games blow
Lies of Pi has just enough nuances to feel perfect
Also you should mention about old games(6th, 7th gen) that were released on PC and are still available. There are countless cheap but good games that you can play.
I'm in the same boat friend, great video
I bought Skyrim 10 years after launch. It was the best thing I ever did
currently playing Sleeping Dogs on my Steam Deck...I'm having soooo much fun and I don t care about the age of the game, it just needs to be fun!
never hesitate to click your videos
I wish I had a pc to play more older games, having just two consoles (ps4 and ps5) feels like I’m missing out on some really good games
i’m hoping to get a steam deck to play old games i’m looking forward to play sonic adventure 1 and 2.Im gonna also try out half life 2!love your videos keep up the great work!
Baldurs Gate 2 is a wonderful experience. Peak Bioware same as with Dragon Age. Xcom u need to play Enemy Within which is a built in dlc.
Waited for a year for Baldurs Gate 3 and it's amazing
I was looking through the games that I've completed this year and it's a wasteland. My attention span can't handle commitment
Same bro. These days I don't tend to play long singleplayer games but ones which have missions or races, so that the gameplay is shorter and you still get that sense of completion.
Even games I think are amazing by the 30-40hr mark I want it to be over
A couple weeks ago i bought AC Odyssey at like 80% off. Absolutely incredible value at that discount level, Last time i played an AC game was AC2 like 12 years ago so its been fun pretty fun!, have already put in like 40 hours and im not running out of stufff to do anytime soon. Definitely interested in other RPG Acs now.
You've gotta play Echo Point Nova when you get the chance. Seems up your alley.
been playing through soulblade (1995) recently through a ps1 emulator, great campaign mode, and super fun. highly recommend it
I just got Heavy Rain and Beyond Two Souls on Steam, having lots of fun with Heavy Rain, don't really need to play the latest games to have fun and saved a lot of money.
And Mods for older games. Ghost Recon Wildlands with first perosn mod is so nice
