I had a sad realisation last year: it was the first year of my 35 years of playing videogames that I didn't complete one single game. This is due to lots of things - mostly being a busy parent of 2 young children and having incredibly limited time and with that limited time choosing to play games I could drop in and drop out of very quickly, so Halo Infinite MP, PES21, Goldeneye Source, BallisticNG, Original Doom. I didn't have hours + for getting my teeth into something from start to finish. But this year Ive managed to improve on that a little completing both Cyberpunk and Outer Wilds, still pathetic only completing 2 games in an entire year, but its better than last year! Hoping to squeeze in RE2 remake if im lucky, although I'm addicted to Bomberman 2 MP atm!
I am 37 and Steam Deck Oled was the answer for me :) Since I bought it I have completed a few games which reminded me why I loved gaming in the past: Mad Max Inside Mafia Definitive Edition Gris INMOST Tinykin Prodeus I will also complete Dusk this year and maybe Batman Arkham City :)
Finishing Portal 1, the Gears of War trilogy, and Infamous First Light were probably my biggest surprises gaming wise this year. Quite enjoyed all of those in addition to playing a ton of Mass Effect (have played so much of that trilogy) and Halo replays. Currently playing Batman Arkham Origins (which is way better than I thought) and Half Life 2. Haven't really played a current 2024 game other than Unicorn Overlord. But I have had a great gaming year regardless.
It’s been an amazing year for games for me Silent Hill 2, Alan Wake 2, Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty, God Of War Ragnarock, Fallout 3 Dishonored, Life is Strange 1 & 2, Lies of P Been blessed what a year 👾🎮 You got me hyped for Stalker now too!
When a game has a really good/touching story that resonates with me, I like to wait a long time before replaying it so that it doesn't lose its magic. Cyberpunk is like that, and yet I've played through it 3 times in 3 years 😅
Funny you both mention huge games I want to do this with. After I beat Cyberpunk with its dlc this year, I immediately wanted to dive back in and try a completely different build. I’ll give it a year to settle before doing that though. Now RDR2 I’ve played start to finish 3 times and still boot it up every once in a while just to live the cowboy fantasy. 2 of my favorite games ever. I do this with FF7 as well. When I get my PS5 pro I’ll play through Rebirth again. Why can’t games be just a bit shorter though?
Isn't this usually a video for december. ;)))) aight imma say Sales always get me. A lot of games a lot of financially wreckfulness. Had a lot of fun this year with games like - The Witcher 3 + dlcs - Mass effect 2 - The quarry - Elden Ring DLC - Dead space 2 - Another baldurs gate 3 run - Ark survival evolved scorched earth - Subnautica below zero - and a whole run of all dark souls games again. All great games i can recommend 10/10. Merry christmas. Feliz navidad and mazeltov
Nice one. This year I started tracking which games I own and when I completed it last. I also have the aim of finishing games I start - unless I really don't enjoy playing it. Knowing how many unfinished games I own is quite informative and reduces impulse purchases on games that I could do without - or purchasing another copy of a game I already own. I look forward to playing HL2 once my Game Pass subscription expires.
Awesome! What a high quality video with lots of good gameplay and effort put into it. Also the bike pov was so amazing I have never seen a bile trail in autumn! I need to get a bike :)
Been a good year for me as well. Red Dead Redemption II and Elden Ring ring were the highlights. Also knocked out both Portal titles this year finally.
Im 29 and finished Half Life 2 ep 2 for the first time in 2024 and I really had a lot of fun. Aged like a fine wine. The combat, physics, story telling. All top notch. Even graphics is not that bad.
So I don't remember what video it was earlier this year and I saw you mention the game Dusk, and I decided to pick it up because it looked cool and man that was some of the most gaming fun I've had in a long time. I really appreciate these multi game discussion videos!
Just followed you on backloggd! My wishlist for next year is: Civ 7 Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 GTAVI Metroid Prime 4 Splitgate 2 (Thanks to your suggestion) Ghost of Yotei FBC Firebreak Killer Bean Black State This year was pretty killer for games overall and I completed over 60 games total. Played a lot of iconic series for the first time and found plenty that resonates strongly with me. Next year is poised to be yet another banger.
Congrats on completing these games! I've actually completed a few of these this year as well. I'll be posting my game completion video here in the next few months too
right before a major steam seasonal sale I always reorder/revisit my list to really see what I may actually end up playing or something I can skip. helps me to cut down. this year I made my own backlog tracking program because I had missed computer programming and mostly for cataloging. also SOTE was also the only game I bought brand new in about 2 years but I still found a preorder discount for it 😂
For me, they are The Witcher 3 (2nd playthrough) Red Dead Redemption 2 God of War (2018) Stray Control Metro Exodus Arkham Knight Tomb Raider (2013) I am halfway on Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, probably next one i will continue with the Tomb Raider trilogy.
This year was the most busiest year I had. At the same time, it was a year in which I found my love for video gaming again. I had a video game burnout for several years because of playing games like FIFA/COD/LoL/Fortnite. I started in September with Halo MCC. I never played any of the games. I finished Halo: Reach and it is one of the most beautiful games I've ever played. After that, I switched it up with an indie metroidvania platformer game called Yars Rising. Although I didn't think of myself as someone who liked the genre, I almost finished the game (until the final boss) and I enjoyed it. Yesterday I've started with Halo: CEA and I really dig that one too. If I can finish it in time, I might be able to play one more game. :)
This year I've played through: Spiderman: Miles Morales It Takes Two Far Cry 6 New Super Lucky's Tale Psychonauts 2 Lil Gator Game Assassin's Creed: Rogue Pokemon Let's Go Eevee Assassin's Creed Valhalla Echoes of Wisdom Bluey: The Videogame Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart My game of the year is surprisingly Psychonauts 2, though I also loved Valhalla, Miles Morales, Far Cry 6, Echoes of Wisdom, and Ratchet & Clank. A lot of great games. Now I'm working on Assassin's Creed Origins, and I'm waiting for Stalker 2 and Indiana Jones.
Been playing through Cyberpunk for the first time and started playing through Pokemon Emerald Seaglass! Definitely looking forward to tackling the backlog in 2025, so so many good games but I was stuck in the live service loop of Destiny lol. Happy to follow your journey here and on Backloggd!
My list this year so far (I recommend all of them too): Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown Balatro Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty FF7 Rebirth Pepper Grinder Helldivers 2 Stellar Blade The Duck Detective Astro Bot Silent Hill 2 remake Tekken 8.
I’ll emphasize Pepper Grinder, since it’s a very small indie no one really talks about. It’s on PS, Steam and Switch. It’s super short, but if you like platformers with smooth traversal give it a go.
I went through a ton of games... Medal of honor AC 2 origins and Odyssey COD BO6 and MW3 (campaigns) Medal of honor (the entire series) Battlfield (every campaign thats available in gamepass hardline was the BEST for me) Call of Juarez Halo (the entire series) Forza Horizons 5 and 4 Age of Mythology RN, i am going through Lords of the Fallen, but i got games such as Watchdogs Far cry 5 (and maybe 6) Every star wars game EA has made AC valhalla elder scrolls and the entire fallout series... so safe to say i will be busy with those for the next year aswell as with new releases and B06 zombies and multiplayer to keep me from burning out of those single player gems
What a year for my personal gaming. Started Returnal, which is just phenomenal game, brutal but fair that just feels SO crisp. Replayed Batman: Arkham Knight and got the 240% completion (and made it in to my top 3) Continued my Dead Space Remake journey. Got through Space Marine 2 with my brother. Currently playing Doom Eternal (which has also become a top 3 game of all time) and Ghost of Tsushima. Just waiting rn for me is Alien: Isolation and I have a pre-order for the Analogue 3D to play some N64 games in 2025.
I played through so many series like the FromSoftware games, MGS Collection and Resident Evil games this year. They all felt so good that I almost can't decide which one I liked the most. Probably Sekiro because it focuses on fun and rewarding gameplay
This year I beat Ghost of Tsushima, Mario Wonder, Everhood, A Space for the Unbound, High on Life, Akimbot, Lost in Play, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 + Future Redeemed, Spider-man Miles Morales, Super Mario RPG, Megaman Battle Network 1, and Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando I think there's more, but anyways a good mix and all games I would recommend. Just got a Legion Go and am excited to try to tackle way more of my Steam library and get to some of the games I missed as a forever Sony fanboy.

stalker 2 has me excited. i was one of the lucky few to grab a 9800x3d. im ready! currently im playing through GTA 4 and its so much fun! the last of us really stood out to me this year. celeste was great, as well as horizon forbidden west. i started the year with little nightmares 2. it was a good year for games
This year i finished: Nier Automata Nier Replicant Outlast (+ Whistleblower DLC) Outlast 2 Bayonetta Bayonetta 2 Elden Ring (+ Shadow of the Erdtree) Afterimage Blasphemous Blasphemous 2. Lies of P (my favorite game this year) Cyberpunk 2077 (jesus what a game, definitely one of my favorites too) Pools Currently playing Judgment and it's FANTASTIC. Planning on starting the Xenoblade saga as i'm really hyped for Chronicles X next year. Honestly i don't even know how i managed to finish so much games considering i got a full time job and that i've spent a lot of time playing Tekken, i guess i've been managing my time really well hehe
Only things about HL2 that have aged for me, are the gunplay, enemy AI and the great amount of loading screens. The first two out of three are taken care of nicely with the MMOD installled. So for brand new players I always recommend people installing that right away to make it feel more modern so they can get to enjoy and experience the sheer amount of great things the game already does so well.
Most notably I played through Chrono Trigger for the first time (played on DS) which was fantastic! I also 100% completed a game for the first time which was Marvel’s Spider Man on PS4. A couple others which were fun play-throughs were Celeste (Switch), Genji: Dawn of the Samurai (PS2), El Shaddai (XB360), Pokémon Shield (Switch), and I’m currently playing through Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love (Wii) which I am liking way more than I thought I would. Lol I’m realizing I’ve not played even a single game that came out this year.
This year for new games I did: Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster - had a blast with this one, big fan of the original Silent Hill 2 - I honestly enjoy this more than the original game. Very well done Astro Bot - It scratched that 3D platformer itch I've had since Crash 4. Great game I'm planning on getting MGS3 Remake and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle if it gets good reviews. Currently replaying older stuff till something new comes
Didnt play a whole lot this year but i thoroughly enjoyed what i did. Persona 3 Reload and it's DLC made for my favorite game of all time (previously was P5R). Played some Persona 5 Tactica as well (need to go back and finish it lol), finished playing through all the Mega Man X games (X8 was PHENOMENAL), and replayed most of the classic Mega Man series as well! Currently working on Metaphor and i play a few multiplayer games with my friends for the social experience
If you like Toree, Lunistice, and Pseudoregalia, you should check out Spark the Electric Jester 2/3. Similar retro 3D platformer that is HEAVILY inspired by the Sonic games. The first one is also very similar to 2D Sonic.
Do you normally play one game until completion or have multiple going at once? I'm currently slowing picking my way through playthroughs of Tears of the Kingdom, Cyberpunk 2077, Gears Tactics, Age of Mythology Retold, and Borderlands 2.
I beat Dying light 2 after having sit on the shelf for years. Despite me loving the first one. And then elden ring and the witcher 3 helped carry me the rest of this year
Honestly didn’t play that many games this year but I did beat Elden Ring earlier this year in preparation for shadow of the erdtree, still haven’t gotten around to playing that yet though. Was on a big halo kick at the start of the year and played a ton of infinite multiplayer as well as beating every single campaign. And then I beat breath of the wild finally and I just finished the black ops 6 campaign (been having a great time with the multiplayer for that game) but yeah not much other than that
This year hasn't been a good year for me personally. Haven't been playing much but I have completed Silent Hill 2 Remake incredible game, I'm 4 hours into Space Marine 2 absolutely amazing game I think I'll start reading the Warhammer books and painting miniatures after playing this game, and I can't get enough of STARFIELD I keep going back and I just can't put it down I put hundreds of hours and I can't wait to play the expansion.
If you haven't played through the NieR games, definitely check them out. Played them both on my Deck for my first playthroughs and they are both amazing.
Since the list of stuff I finished this year is quite long, I will share but a few. After saying I would do this for a long time, I finally beat Horizon Zero Dawn. Also finished both Dragon Ball Xenoverse games which, I'm really not into fighting games so will probably not return to those basically ever. Technically also Final Fantasy 5, 6 and 8 but all of those I started and largely played through last year so this was just me finishing them. Also Detroit: Become Human and Beyond Two Souls. There's obviously more but that'll do for a list here, I think...
All the games I played this year, from best to worst: 1000xResist Ico Withering Rooms Dread Delusion Animal Well Gitaroo Man We Love Katamari Reroll + Royal Reverie Wilmot Works It Out Fallout 4: Far Harbor Fallout 4 The Talos Principle Yakuza 0 Batman: Arkham Knight Isles of Sea and Sky Flock Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Tales of Berseria Ape Escape 3 (Shelved on 33%) Chibi-Robo! Onimusha: Warlords Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak (Shelved on Chapter 3) Ribbit King PaRappa the Rapper 2 Kururin Squash! Arctic Eggs Fallout 4: Automatron Clam Man 2: Open Mic Vib-Ribbon Fallout 4: Nuka World A Tiny Sticker Tale Snakebird Primer Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition The Bouncer Shashingo: Learn Japanese With Photography Egg Mania: Eggstreme Madness Super Monkey Ball: Banana Rumble (Dropped on 2/3) How Fish Is Made Cellular Harvest Star Ocean: The Second Story R Cryptmaster (Dropped before the last chapter) Currently playing Halo: Reach and Enderal: Forgotten Stories (1.5 hours in, not sure if I want to invest 100 hours even if it's 10/10) Can't wait for The Rise of the Golden Idol
For me my finished game list of this year is Persona 3 reload Resident evil 4 remake Silent hill 2 remake Armored core 6 Elden ring dlc Prince of Persia lost crown And another crabs treasure
I gotta start branching out more. I just fall back to the cycle of destiny cod halo and apex over and over and bored of them all. It’s like I’m so a custom to the live service fomo model I can’t just play games to have fun anymore lol.
My guy, you got all these videos about modern games not having "the stuff" and you're only playing major releases! Indie is where the heat is at. From this year, I'll highlight 1000xResist and Animal Well
I had a similar experience this year the only thing I beat was shadow of the erdtree and I’m here to tell you that you don’t have to feel bad for not enjoying games anymore. I spent months forcing myself to play games because it’s been such an important hobby to me for my entire life. But if it’s not fun then it’s not fun, If you actually want to play games then play games, but there’s nothing wrong with moving on or taking a break. It’s a hobby and a stress reliever and if games are doing that for you find something else :) You are loved and important and you will find something to love again.
Don't feel bad for not liking games. Maybe you'll like them in a few years. Find a genre or game that suits your mood. E.g. if you're busy, maybe try roguelites instead of 100 hour RPGs. Or try a match in a MP game. Book in gaming sessions with a friend on a game you both like. Try older games - there are tons of great, and shorter - and cheaper - games out there!
I had a great year minus the very beginning. Finished a TON of Games. A Plague Tale Innocence, Tales of Arise, Cat Quest III, A Short Hike, Cassette Beasts DLC, Grapple Dog (Okay I gave up before the final boss), Caravan Sandwitch, Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag, SCHiM, Crash Bandicoot 4, Marsupilami Hoobadventure, NFS Heat, Bang on Balls Chronicles, and Gori Cuddly Carnage. Yes, a lot of those games are small, but hey, its nice to play a bunch of stuff insted of one long and endless game IMO. Check em out! I recommend everything except Tales of Arise, a Plague Tale Innocence, and Assassin's Creed IV. All 3 of those are overrated, bloated, depressing or boring.
Babe wake up ! There is a new video of the gamers therapist !! 😎

I think an underrated game is Mad Max. Was pleasantly surprised; even bought it again for a different platform.

Pools
Currently playing Judgment and it's FANTASTIC.
Stalker 2 at launch is a must!
This year for new games I did:
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster - had a blast with this one, big fan of the original
Silent Hill 2 - I honestly enjoy this more than the original game. Very well done
Astro Bot - It scratched that 3D platformer itch I've had since Crash 4. Great game
I'm planning on getting MGS3 Remake and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle if it gets good reviews.
I played botw and totk this year brilliant and totk is one of my favourite 2 games halo 3 is the over one🐰.
And then I beat breath of the wild finally and I just finished the black ops 6 campaign (been having a great time with the multiplayer for that game) but yeah not much other than that
i havent finished any but i started the witcher but then couldnt get into it but now im playing death stranding and im loving it.

Have you played subnautica? That should definitely be on your list, if not!
The only game I completed this year was the original Deus Ex. Now that’s a good game.
I've started playing Fallout 4 recently but I'm really struggling with bugs and the visuals. Would you mind recommending some mods you used for it?

Can't wait for The Rise of the Golden Idol
Hmm never played half life but that gameplay reminded me of timesplitter future perfect. I wonder if it was inspired by the half life series
For me my finished game list of this year is
Persona 3 reload
Resident evil 4 remake
Silent hill 2 remake
Armored core 6
Elden ring dlc
Prince of Persia lost crown
And another crabs treasure
You should play the Witcher 3, dead rising 4
I gotta start branching out more. I just fall back to the cycle of destiny cod halo and apex over and over and bored of them all. It’s like I’m so a custom to the live service fomo model I can’t just play games to have fun anymore lol.
Did you play fallout 4 on the steam deck?
do you recommend playing through stalker 1 before embarking on stalker 2?
Dark Souls 2 is a close second favorite? Yeah, I’m thinking based.
the only game i beat this year was RDR1, thats one more game than last year though
My guy, you got all these videos about modern games not having "the stuff" and you're only playing major releases! Indie is where the heat is at. From this year, I'll highlight 1000xResist and Animal Well
i have completed 3 games this year ever since i started dropping games if they got boring i havent beaten a game. Maybe gaming isnt for me :(
Or maybe! These games aren't for you. Pursuit what makes you happy and enjoy your free time!
Another year, another cry of "I need to play more games" from me >
Cool Video
Since WoW Classic swoop down on me. I couldnt turn to other games. And it is starting to bother me.
😮
