Thank you! I'm so glad that you found the video helpful. I love testing products and seeing how far I can take them. Thanks for taking the time to comment!
Im absolutely obsessed with Tooli Art pens reasonably priced only down side is if doing large projects i.e. shoes the ink doesn't last and if you run out of a background colour then you have to buy a whole set just for 1 colour. They're my favourite though
Thanks for sharing your experience with the Tooli Art Pens! They've been working really well for me in my art journal, it's good to know that they don't last on shoes and some surfaces. I agree with you, I wish a lot of these pens came individually so that if you ran out of a color, you would be able to purchase another individual pen. For the colors I use the most (like black, white and gold) I invest in the Posca pens because I know I'll use them a lot more than other colors. Thanks for your sharing your experience with these pens and for watching!
Yes, it's amazing how that one small thing, venting the nib can make such a difference on how effectively you can prime a paint pen. I'm glad that you found the video helpful!
Hi..i just found your channel. I have 2 sets of the Artistro pens. One set is the 12 metallic. The other is not. In having a hard time with many of them not working. I've been soaking them in pretty warm water, but still not working. They are not very old and still have a lot of paint. Do you have any suggestions I could try? Thank you so much. ~Lorie
I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your pens. I just pulled my Artistro pens out the other day after not using them for about 6 months. I did find that a few of the nibs had come crusted paint on them. I ended up using a baby wipe and scrubbing the paint off the tips. I had to shake them super well and several times and it took several times priming them to get them working again, but I eventually got them up and running again. Honestly, if the nibs are getting cranky and they're not working, you can try pulling the tips, scrubbing them with soap and water, rinsing them well and re-inserting them into the pen. When they are being difficult, my thought is that I have nothing to lose by being a bit rougher with the nibs. I hope that helps!
Make sure to check out some of my other videos. I've been using these pens for the last few years in all sorts of projects and getting great results! The one thing with the cheaper pens is that sometimes the paint likes to dry on the nibs. I use a baby wipe or paper towel with some water to scrub off the dried paint and that keeps them working really well.
Yes, the Tooli Art pastel colors are very light on white, but if you watch until 13:22 I show them on black as well as the white background if you want to see the full impact of the colors.
LOL, yes, I've realized recently that I talk REALLY fast! I actually purchased a teleprompter the other day, I'm hoping that it will help me to slow down a bit! I hope that you enjoyed the video!
@@hopalongstudio I did not write the comment in a critical negative sense. I love your video, it is nice! English is almost my mother tongue but many non-native speakers will have trouble to follow you.
@@zuheyr1 I didn’t take it critically and I do appreciate the feedback! I’m always trying to improve my videos so hearing that I need to slow down a bit will help make my videos better. I’m glad that you enjoyed the video!
Ha, I just bought a pack of extra fine white Artistro paint pens last week on the recommendation of another artist, since I go through my white ones so quickly. I’m happy with them so far and was glad to see how the colors/metallics look in your video. I have so many Posca pens and have never once regretted purchasing them- but they are definitely expensive! I’m very interested in that pastel set you showed in the video, since most of my Posca pens are not pastel. Also, that venting trick is very clever! I would not have thought to do that, but I’m definitely trying it next time!
I'm glad that you like the Artistro paint pens, I've had them quite a while and they haven't given me any issues. The Posca's are fantastic, but I agree with you, they're not inexpensive. But it's nice to know that there are some cheaper markers out there! I got the Tooli-Art ones a couple of weeks ago and so far so good. I really liked the range of pastel colors! The venting trick makes a big difference in how quickly new markers prime. Definitely try it when you get a new set of markers! Thanks for watching and for commenting!
That’s a great observation and I do agree. The larger chisel nib paint pens clog less, but I find I generally only use paint pens for finer details over using them for large areas. I like the paint pens with nibs that can be removed and cleaned because it does help with the clogging. But if clogging is a concern, using larger paint pens will help with that. Thanks for sharing your observations!
love that deep blue sky in the painting behind you.
Thank you! It's one of my favorite paintings that I've created so far. I love using vivid colors in my paintings!
I love the paintings you did on the black paper! They are soo pretty!! Thank you for such a thorough review!

That tip on priming the paint markers is great. I don't know why more companies don't put that on the box or in the instructions.

one thing about these extra fine tips is that they clog more easily

@hopalongstudio thats why i pick brush tip everytime. Versatile sizes and never have to prime them.
