Thanks so much for your tutorials! Have been watching your channel for like a week now and learned so much new stuff already. Your tutorials not only showing how to "make this" or "click here" but also expand the global understanding for C4d profoundly!
Thanks for the new tutorial. Constraints are the new thing in the last year. The keyframing is a little tricky with the Record Optimize button because sometimes it becomes a drop down. I think that happens if there is more than one Target involved. I would recommend opening the Local Offset folder to make sure all those keyframes get set.
Nice point! I always tend to make sure the keyframes are set, which is why I double checked in the tutorial as well, always good to know whats going on when you hit that button!
Happy new year EJ. I hope it's a year of many successes and many tutorials. I would like to see your recommendations for hard surface modeling. Also, more 2d tutorials with sketch and toon.
I see a familiar face in the interview section on that homepage. That looks like a great resource. I'm surprised I haven't been all over these tutorials. And this is a very handy AE plug in if you like working in Illustrator and AE's shape layers. motionworks.net/overlord/ I've always wanted editable text from Illustrator to work in AE.
Happy New Year! Yep! Just follow the same workflow, adding the Parent weight when you want that object (bomb in this case) to be picked up by the other object (hand).
Great tut, thank you! Quick question, if I may pick your brains, would this constraint work for targeting a soft body spline (rope) through a (climbing) characters hands?
Thanks for your tutorial videos, I can use C4d for modeling and creating simulation objects. Next time, I hope you can make a tutorial about rigging human or sth with skin.
Just as you'd have no parent weights strength when the bomb is up in the air, you'd do the same thing where the object would be weighted to nothing and keyframed to the floor, or you could even activate dynamics as the weight strength of, say, the hand, goes to 0%
I have a tarp on a building I want to blow in the wind. When I add in a cloth effect so it can do this, it just falls through the building. I've been trying to constrain it to the building using this method to prevent it from falling off. No luck. Any tips on this? Surprised how little there is in terms of tutorials for making an object stay attached while being impacted by the wind.
Hi EJ, very nice tutorial man !!! I was looking for something like this from a very long time . I struggle a bit in modelling, and wants to model these kind of characters, just wanted to know if you've extruded the limbs from the body itself or they are separate geometries (capsules/cylinders) ? Also would it be possible for you to share the project file for this ? That would be so helpful . Thanks :)
Another amazing tutorial, could you explain emittion and glow in Arnold Renderer i canot find a tutorial regarding that issue, keep the good work and good energy fan from Portugal
How did you manage to make the character bend the legs without rotating the feet? I rigged a similar character, placed the leg's goals out of the body group, but when i lower the character's body on y axis, looks like he is on his feet's toals.
I am attempting to have a character holding a rifle. I want their right hand to control the position/rotation of the gun, but I want the left hand to stay stationary holding the end of the barrel... what is the best way to go about this? Can I somehow use this tag with IK to make it so wherever the gun goes, the left hand follows with the arm stretching/bending?
Not exactly... When you hold a gun (or really anything that takes two hands) your right hand is the one that "leads" or moves the object. Your left hand follows wherever that object goes as you hold onto it. I essentially want the right hand to control the position/rotation of the gun, and the gun to control the position/rotation of the left hand. Is this even possible in cinema?
I'm having an awful time animating a weightlifter doing the clean and jerk. I'm using PC constraints and making the bar the child. How would you do it?
i would create two nulls that are where the arm positions would be and make them a child of the barbell, then link the arms to those nulls with constraints! hope that helps!
@@eyedesyn Thanks for the reply so quickly. I'm going to have to make an IK chain for this to work right. The reason I ask is it's a daz rigl imported from motionbuilder which created its own rigs and the IK doesn't work in Cinema. If I add another rig, it would approach abuse. (The Mobu PC constraint doesn't work perfectly. Arg Autodesk! Why can't all programs work as well as Cinema!)
Thank you so much for the tutorials. I have learnt so much since I started watching. Please, I need a little help. Can you please do a tutorial on how to animate two or multiple Mixamo characters in Cinema 4D, with special focus on creating animation layers in the timeline? Thanks in anticipation
Hi EJ I'm having trouble with mograph clone...When I use the grid clone mograph and put 0 on the y axis cause I want my object (spheres) to lay on the ground, then I use the random effector for scale but then the object (sphere) ends up no longer being on the ground anymore the smaller ones and up hovering and the bigger ones go through the ground... How do u did it so my scaled spheres are on the ground...pls help
That's because clones axis center defaults to the center of each object, to change that you'd need to make the clone editable, and edit the Anchor Point to be at the very bottom of the geometry. Then, in the Cloner settings uncheck "Fix Clone" and this will then use the Axis Center of the object!
Hi. I'm using constraint tag for my project but its soo buggy. Object jumping issues with constrain tag parent option. Can you help me to any other way pickup and rotate animation without constrain tag. It's very helpful for my upcoming projects.
make sure your priorities and object manager are setup correctly, if you don't have the correct order youll have the jumping. ie. the object with the constraint tag should be lower in the object manager the object that it is constrained to
@@eyedesyn Thanks for your reply. But I already started animation using manual keyframe. I'm newer to cinema 4d I had lots of doubt. I can't fine right answer all the on the internet. Can you advise me how to clear my doubt asap?
@@eyedesyn I had one doubt. I already create some camera animation. Now I need to animate one shot using aline to spline tag. But I try to use in the existing camera, camera position change. What is my question is " I Need to aline to spline for existing camera position without any jumping issues." Can u understand my Question? Please let me know how this is possible. Its help me to finish my project.
everything attached nicely, but there is a problem i can not solve. When i hit the render button, the object which is constrained ( in my case the cell phone to the hand of character) following the hand with a delay in each frame. Has anyone the same problem?
How can you rig a character so it inflates like a balloon with it’s head, arms, feet and other parts sticking out? I’m just wondering here! Please make a tutorial about this, and use a fox character for this, please! Thanks eyedesyn! -Phillip McCue

Looks so freaking good man. Your tutorials are my favorite.
OMG THANK YOU SOO MUCH!!! Saved my life bro
Thank you so much! You helped me to make an important part in my university project.
that's so awesome! be sure to tag me on instagram or twitter with your project!
Insane, thanks so much EJ!
You bet! Thanks for watching!
Happy new year EJ.

Happy New Year Miguel! Thanks! I highly recommend Motionworks.net MILG 11, it's the most comprehensive C4D modeling training out there!

Happy New Year EJ! Great video!
Thanks Arthur! Happy New Year, sir!
Thank you EJ. Love your channel.
Very welcome! And thanks for the kind comment, happy to hear you like my channel!
yeahhh EJ, thanks dude. u taught me everything bout c4d
So awesome to hear! Very welcome and thanks for your support!
You're the man EJ!
Hell yeah, thanks my guy
Happy New Year EJ and the cute boy with a bomb!
The constraint tag is probably more useful than the protection tag.
Thak you!
Protection tag is super useful...prevents me from moving stuff all over the place accidentally! Both useful! Thanks for watching!
Happy New Year! Thanks again for all your kind comments! :)
yeees! both useful. Thank you^^
Thank YOU! :)
Thanks for all tutorial. You are so cool!
Thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching! :)
Thank you so much.
Till now, i did this in a very difficult way xd
I used to do it the hard way too, happy to help shed light on this easier way!
Many thanks!! This saved me!!!
Awesome Tutorial
Thank you!
happy New year thanks allot you did me a solid, but one quick question is it the same setup as Picking up an object?

Hey EJ, how would you do a character throwing or dropping an object on the floor?

Thanks! Yes I do, you can check out this one: ua-cam.com/video/F2VSJHvnWas/v-deo.html
How do you inflate characters in cinema 4D? Try using the orange angry bird for this!

I typically make all the limbs separate because it's easier to animate & rig! thanks for watching!
Apesar do idioma, consegui entender tudo! (Y) Great video!
Thank you!!!!

Thanks for watching! I don't use Arnold so you won't be seeing that tutorial coming from me unfortunately!

I used a rigged spline with spline wrap so the feet aren't rigged at all
i have some lag with it on my project the object don't stick perfectly to the parent when the speed is hight
make sure your hierarchy is in order, so the hand that is moving is above the object being thrown in the object manager
Bomberman? Is that you?

I'd use a constraint tag to clamp the rifle to the object on the hand, give that a try!
Yeah, that worked to get the gun to move with the right hand... now what would be the best way to get the left hand to move with the gun?
You mean changing the gun to go from one hand to the next? Basically the same technique I show in this video!
Not exactly... When you hold a gun (or really anything that takes two hands) your right hand is the one that "leads" or moves the object. Hey EJ, so i imported an alembic from DAZ3d, and i am trying to parent an object to the avatar but this isnt working, can you help please?
Is it an animated alembic mesh?
yep
Need an alternative for this ad site called You tube
When I assign a character tag all the option are greyed out :/
me too someone please help!
this is nice tutorial, but i have a problem.when i use the parent tag and simulate tag do animate there also being bug , have you solved it?
how to detach joints ? i donwloaded a gun model and the used joints for it, how can i delete them ? or at least export the model without them ?
How can you rig a character so it inflates like a balloon with it’s head, arms, feet and other parts sticking out? I’m just wondering here! Please make a tutorial about this, and use a fox character for this, please! Thanks eyedesyn!
