This is amazing, you're the kind of guy who can make *anything* look effortless, while staring into our souls lol - I especially love how you keep track of the groove with your right hand and how your left hand dances across the strings, your covers are a perfect showcase for how well you know the bass 🤘
Wow, thank you so much! I think I found these bass lines to be really familiar, almost like something I could write for a song like this so it was easy to just go with my intuition :)
Alright, this was the most badass thing ive seen this week! I seriously had no idea that middle section was a bass ( always thought it was a synth) but you did that too and it was effortlessly flawless
Killing it Olli! Sounds great. Am I the only one who gets all happy and excited right before the “Between supposed lovers” breakdown? Makes me want to jump up and break stuff!
Dude! You are freaking badass! Thank you for uploading this! I didn't even know he was doing all of that in the mid section 😮 liked and first time subscriber bro!
The cover was amazing. But the way you starred into the camera and smirked was the best part by far. I didn't hear the song, I only heard your eyes... 00
Nailed it! Both playing and tone 🤌Ps. if a bass player that is a prog fan says that he's never jammed the main riff of this song he's lying. BR In my noodling routine since like I started playing
Holy shit, dude. This is awesome! Tool is my favorite band and this is my favorite song. I’ll be studying this video once I hop back on my Schecter. Cheers!

Flawless playing my dude!! Can you tell me please what kind of pickups do you have on the bass? i need to upgrade my squier affinity PJ bass to make it sound more crisp and punchy. Thanks!
Nothing special there, just practice the timing until you feel it's solid! Hammer-ons are always a bit more tricky to time for me since I rely so much on my right hand for time, but once you practice and start feeling the groove, those shouldn't be too hard either.
Every bass enthusiast has a top 5 bass songs and this is easily in my top 2.
Holy smokes. Flawless. You are one of the few players who really try to understand the song before covering it. 46 & 2 is also a fun groove.
Thank you so much! This groove is quite infectious. I'll need to take on 46 & 2 as well!
@@Paajanenae lol tool sucks without paul D'armours basslines

Yeah I thought the same thing. It's incredible how many times I've found out that some part or sound was actually done on bass.
Thank you! Tool does a lot of those weird sounds on the bass. You can usually spot these by listening if the bassline disappears during such a part :)
@@Paajanenae that makes sense now that you point it out. Thanks.
@@Paajanenae killer job you did on this!
Killing it Olli! Sounds great. Am I the only one who gets all happy and excited right before the “Between supposed lovers” breakdown? Makes me want to jump up and break stuff!
Thank you! 🥰 I really love the breakdown as well, the tension buildup is insane!
Right there with you!
Best cover and tone I've ever heard in a cover, ever. Flawless my dude, really well done
This is by far my favorite Tool song
Great tone! Amazing playing! ACAB!!! ❤🖤
Dude! You are freaking badass! Thank you for uploading this! I didn't even know he was doing all of that in the mid section 😮 liked and first time subscriber bro!
This is probably the most violent cover ive seen. Thats epic!
The cover was amazing. But the way you starred into the camera and smirked was the best part by far. I didn't hear the song, I only heard your eyes... 00
Another great one! I love this song so much, and what you're doing on it deserves a huge respect ! Really well done 👍
Thank you so much! It really is a great song, I loved to finally put it on virtual tape :)

Thank you.happy to see that people enjoy playing
Nothing can beat the smirk at 3:37
Wow, that was amazing! I'm a beginner bass player and your performance is inspiring. This song is on my list to learn! Well done.
that was great my guy
Great cover, great work, and you have an amazing bass tone. Sick playing, keep it up!
Best Schism cover on bass i ever heard. You are a genius.
2:58 was so smooth....!
Mindblowing!🤪It feels the same as if I'm hearing this song for the first time🥹👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you! That's always the goal 🥰
You flying man!!!
Sick man! Dope visuals and awesome performance
Thank you so much! 🥰
That bass tone is SPOT ON.
Awesome work brother!
Thank you so much 🥰
Totally awsome as good as Justin well done
Thank you so much! 🥰
so damn good! perfect execution
F***in' AMAZING!🖤🖤🖤
Wow I got goosebumps to this🔥
Fantastic job.
Very cool, as always.👍
Thank you Eugene! 🥰
Wow, very good presentation!
From 5:11 and to the end is by far the funnest part of the song to play, in my opinion.
Yes sir! I really like the building tension there :)
Insane 🔥
fucking brilliant.
Great Job Mister!
Its hard to play Tools drums snd bass and feel Tools songs... So... Well done! 👍
Amazing!! 🤘🏾😈🇲🇽🔥
Very cool...nice tone as well...
Awesome !!!
Insane cover, however the eye contact was too intense
I stare back 👁️👄👁️
Hell yeah, awesome!
Oh hell yeah!
I know the pieces fit
'Cause I watched them fall away
Mildewed and smouldering
Fundamental differing
Pure intention juxtaposed
Will set two lovers' souls in motion
Disintegrating as it goes
Testing our communication
The light that fueled our fire then
Has burned a hole between us so
We cannot seem to reach an end
Crippling our communication
I know the pieces fit
'Cause I watched them tumble down
No fault, none to blame
It doesn't mean I don't desire
To point the finger, blame the other
Watch the temple topple over
To bring the pieces back together
Rediscover communication
The poetry that comes from
The squaring off between
And the circling is worth it
Finding beauty in the dissonance
There was a time that the pieces fit
But I watched them fall away
Mildewed and smouldering
Strangled by our coveting
I've done the math enough to know
The dangers of our second guessing
Doomed to crumble unless we grow
And strengthen our communication
Cold silence has
A tendency to
Atrophy any
Sense of compassion
Between supposed lovers
Between supposed lovers
I know the pieces fit
I know the pieces fit
I know the pieces fit
I know the pieces fit
I know the pieces fit
I know the pieces fit
I know the pieces fit
And I know the pieces fit
Fuckin' Awesome !!!
Thank you!
Sick!!!
Great cover dude! Was the middle section done in post? Sounds spot on!
Thank you! I had the middle section effects on while recording, but had to automate the whammy pedal by hand in post.
nailed it on facial expressions.
Gotta do them expressions right!
You know the pieces fit
Yeah bro..... your a fucking beast. Real talk.👏👏👏👏🤘🤜🤛
What is it from that point on 04:02 ? Is it with the pickup?
I'm tapping the notes with my left hand and fading them in and out using the volume control with my right hand.
Ah alright. I said 'pickups' and got confused, I meant 'knobs'. Thanks
Holy shit 😮
Helvetin hyvä! 🔥 harvan bändin biisit on yhtä tyydyttäviä soittaa kun Toolin.
Kiitti! Ihan totta kyllä turiset, näiden groovessa on jotain todella miellyttävää 😄
Flawless playing my dude!! Can you tell me please what kind of pickups do you have on the bass? i need to upgrade my squier affinity PJ bass to make it sound more crisp and punchy. Thanks!
Thank you, but these are just the stock Aria Pro II pickups from the 80s 😅 Maybe a set of SD Quarter Pounders or Vintages will get you similar tones 🙏
🤯🤯
😎😎😎
OMG!
New bassist here, how to you manage to execute the hammer-on in the main riff? Whenever I do it, its always too slow and sounds so off beat.
Nothing special there, just practice the timing until you feel it's solid! Hammer-ons are always a bit more tricky to time for me since I rely so much on my right hand for time, but once you practice and start feeling the groove, those shouldn't be too hard either.
Me he enamorado 😍
Awesome video and excellent playing - What pickups are in this bass?
Thanks! The pickups are the original Aria pickups, pretty high output but otherwise nothing special :)
minkä paksusia kieliä sä käytät yleensä? vai aina tuota 40-100?
loisto veto tää 😎🤘
Kiitti! Käytännössä aina ohuempia kuin mitä luulisi, standardi ja drop-D menee 40-100, drop-C ja Drop-B 50-110, viiskielisessä sitten vaihtelevasti 😄
Dude... you fucking rock. Don't stop. How do you feel about Victor Wooten?
2:18 phat
😮 Damn! You got tabs for this?
Unfortunately not, but this song is well tabbed out online 😄
забрал свой лайк обратно. Джастин играет даунстроком
I don't understand
@@Paajanenae I thought that in the original Justin also plays with a variable stroke. I found a video and he plays downstroke
@@eLiBoBBer Cool!
I've done the math enough to know the dangers of our second guessing.........
If I only knew Tool lyrics I guess that would be a blessing...
Gotta be honest here, I play this everytime I pick up a Bass guitar haha
It's an easy choice for sure hah!
Triplets are not coming out very clean.
Stop staring into the lens, its creepy. Thanks.
My brother in christ, I'm playing a Tool song. Being creepy is the vibe here
@@Paajanenae lol not sure about that one, comrade.
It’s all about keeping that eye contact consistent
+1 for good bass playing
-10 for promoting stereotypes
Grow up
I'm curious to know what stereotypes exactly? 😄
cry about it haha
You look bored. Was it too easy ? 😂
Trying to focus hard on the groove! 😂
@@PaajanenaeEither way, awesome performance !
