Lyrics:
Long in tooth and soul
Longing for another win
Lurch into the fray
Weapon out and belly in
Warrior struggling
To remain consequential
Bellow aloud
Bold and proud
Of where I've been
But here I am
Beating chest and drums
Beating tired bones again
Age-old battle, mine
Weapon out and belly in
Tales told of battles won
Of things we've done
Caligula would grin
Beating tired bones
Tripping through remember when
Once invincible
Now the armor's wearing thin
Heavy shield down
Warrior struggling
To remain relevant
Warrior struggling
To remain consequential
Cry aloud
Bold and proud
Of where I've been
But here I am
Where I end
Warrior struggling
To remain relevant
Warrior struggling
To remain consequential
Tears in my eyes
Chasing Ponce de Leon's phantom
So filled with hope
I can taste mythical fountains
False hope, perhaps
But the truth never got in my way
Before now, feel the sting
Feeling time bearing down
Tears in my eyes
Chasing Ponce de Leon's phantom
So filled with hope
I can taste mythical fountains
False hope, perhaps
But the truth never got in my way
Before now, feel the sting
Feeling time bearing down
False hope, perhaps
But the truth never got in my way
Before now, feel the sting
Feeling time bearing down
Bearing down
Guys, it's a pleasure to be here listening this with all of you
Yes sir . Back at you !!!

Likewise.....Tool forever....
Back at ya 🤟
‘92 I started listening to TOOL.
‘94 my daughter was born, she is almost 25.
I’m old now.....But for Today, I feel like I’m 22 again.
I’m also 25 and born in 1994, but I didn’t start listening to Tool until 2010 when I was still in high school. But I’m glad I’ve lived up to this point and got to know their discography along the way and I’m proud to call myself a fan.
I’m right there with ya! I was 23 in ‘92. Been a TooL fan for many years.
OGT from back in '92.
All is "older fans" that's been with them since day 1 feel just like you do. What an amazing day
The passion for Tool is shared amoungst a wide range of ages and it's really cool!
Carey's drumming is organic, dynamic and unconventional. He doesn't keep a beat, yet he does. Even the odd timing isn't repetitive. Very unique in his approach. Typically a drummer establishes a beat of some sort then adds flourishes and fills. Carey does that without doing that. His drumming frames the song, drives the song, and is the song's foundation. His drumming has more to do with the unique sound of Tool than any drummer who influenced the sound of their band since Keith Moon. The early Who would have never sounded the way they did without Keith. I can't imagine another drummer taking Carey's place and having Tool sound like Tool. He's the heart of the band.
Very well said !!!
i jokingly mentioned this in a tool "group" and was instantly thought a fool... I didn't even mean it literally... but doesn't he seem to be the heartbeat of the band.. even if sometimes Danny has arrhythmia....
holy shit someone else that notices that danny is the heart
@@j.r.carpenter4832 they were just stupid, and remember maynard hates them
I can watch the Pneuma Vic Firth drum cam of Carey every day. Best drummer out there, hands down, imo. And after seeing the drum cam I now notice even more how much influence he has in the songs.
This song is Tools way of saying. We can take a 13 year break. And still be the best band of the last couple of decades.
I deemed Invincible my cancer fight song. I knew it was the one the first time I heard it. Diagnosed in Oct 2017. Cancer free in Aug 2019.
Nice work!!!!!!!
Thanks!! I'm in the middle of fighting cancer right now. Finished chemo and about to start stem cell transplant. Every time I'm in hospital for a period of time I blast tool on my head phones. This shit gets me through anything. I didn't give this album a chance until recently when I printed out the lyrics to the entire album and got lost in this fur a few hours .... SICK . I've fought cancer twice now and survived many heroin over doses. I'm 3 years clean now and tool music is all the deeper hearing it with a clear mind....RIP to all the tool fans who didn't live to hear this album
A true warrior, keep going
Congrats! Keep going
Kick Ass !
My dad passed away on December 13th, 2011. He was 36 years old and was taken by lung cancer. He was a thrash metal guitarist all through his youth, then we got him an acoustic. He never touched an electric guitar again. He listened to TOOL religiously and all of his music was similar. He was fantastic. I remember the long car rides with him listening to TOOL nonstop. I hate that he isn't here to experience this album with me. This song in particular makes me miss him. I like to close my eyes and pretend he's here listening with me. RIP TJ Butler. I love you, daddy.
My dad died in 2007. I used Tool to mourn. And also ate mushrooms. I believe I used both mediums properly. I achieved equilibrium.
He’s always with you stay strong soldier
He's listening to it with you my friend
Burden to bare

We're all still here.
He’s here through you with this. He’s listening too.
This was not just an album that we Tool fans waited 15 years for... This album is a gift to everyone who will listen to it!!
Spiritual experience in depth. Going to see Tool on this Tour. The most awesome Church ever. Gotta go.

My father was a major tool fan, and played their music all the time while I was growing up. Sadly I never got into them myself until about a year ago. My dad passed in 2014 so I will never get the chance to enjoy the band with him, but I fully understand why he found such solace in their music. Well dad, they finally released a new album like you wanted, and I'm happy to say that it is fucking amazing. R.I.P Dennis Burchett 11/28/2014

Your dad sounds like he was a pretty cool dude :)

I'm glad you found something you can use to anchor yourself to him. It's never too late.
I am 52. I have made myself a complete stranger to this band my entire life. I knew the name, but never gave them a chance. That changed 3 months ago and now I am addicted. This is one of the best bands ever.

Seriously, I can't be the only one who wishes this song were 17 minutes longer........This song nearly brings me to tears every time I hear it. I truly believe this album is one of the greatest musical accomplishments in modern history. It could easily have been a double album of 25 minute songs.

I can't listen to this song too often, because it just moves me in a way no other song has ever done. It touches something primal deep within. Incredibly emotionally moving.

5x a day is the minimum & now I’ve gone back & started listening to the older albums again, specifically “Pushit” & “ Swamp Song” & I bought Undertow on cassette when it first came out in 93 & Aenima in 96 on CD (I’d finally hit the big time & owned a CD player 😉🤷🏼♂️) & I have listened to them pretty regularly throughout the years,I get in certain moods & will listen to certain bands exclusively ....before Fear came out I was on a Screaming Trees kick & before that it was 70-72 era Rolling Stones & old Method Man stuff 🤟🏻🖤🕺🏼
My son and I saw TOOL in Atlantic City, NJ in NOV 2019. One of the best days in my life. I told him if I'm ever on life support. Put head phones on my head, and play INVINCIBLE. If I don't come back. Have them pull the plug.
Bro. You have my name, legit. My son and I saw them in Nashville, Feb of '19(edit-'20). 🤙
Nice!
This song is like a battle cry! I've been listening to it nearly every day for at least four years during my workouts. It builds up so intensely! Im from Norway, and in my mind it conjures up the image of an ancient berserker Viking entering his final fight, pouring out every ounce of his strength. "Warrior, struggling to remain relevant, to remain consequential" - these words echo as the tempo shifts, and I envision the berserker steeling himself for his ultimate battle. Then, around the 8:50 mark, he throws himself into the fray, wielding his longsword, plunging deeper into the melee, facing increasingly brutal challenges. "Before now, feel the sting, feeling time bearing down, bearing down" - he fights with everything he has, cutting down his last enemies, and in his death finds tranquility... Valhalla awaits.
Heavy shields down
I feel your words to my absolute core. ❤
@@jaredbreeden3779 🛡️🛡️⚔️🗡️
Lol, great minds think alike. I saw the first line of your post and thought of Valhalla right away. I see at the end you were on that trajectory as well. 😁 Got my sword earrings ready to wear next time I go out. 😊
the first time I heard this and Maynard said the lines "feel the sting, feeling time, bearing down" it just hit me like a ton of bricks... suddenly I'm all too aware of the 20-some odd years that have passed since I first became a fan of this band.. very humbling and sobering, just the reality the inevitable passage of TIME, onward, unflinching, merciless, never stopping, leaving us all behind eventually...
Damn, anyhow! On a lighter note, one of the first things I sort of associated with this song, other then my own personal feelings, man... I thought of the undertaker. The pro wrestler the undertaker! Arguably the greatest CHARACTER of all time.. I was a huge fan as a kid, and now as an adult I have almost a new appreciation for the business, and.. I dunno.
The dead man, the phenom, the fuckin LEGEND, the undertaker... Every time I hear this song now I think of him. Thanks for the memories sir, and you will forever be missed! You had the career of a lifetime, and you have more than earned your place in history! Heavy shield down..

Couldn't have said it better.
Same here the older we got the more the music just didn't feel right and then my 90s and 2000s bands drop good albums this year and man have I been so pumped for Rock/Metal music
Scary thing about tool... one song can change your mood 5 times
Like a psychedelic trip
Especially in 7empest!
broooo the ending of this song. tears man.....feeel like im the warrior. truth never got in my way.
especially if you already have multiple personalities...😆
Dats wots sooooo goood bout it yooo
It's like every awesome rhythm and riff Tool ever did in one masterpiece. And the lyrics...well as a 63 year old martial artist, they ring so true. Its been said that the worst thing about growing old is that other men stop seeing you as dangerous. Old warriors wish yo die in battle, NOT BED!
From 11:18 to 12:11, this song literally jumps to a whole other level. In my opinion, it's the best minute of music I've ever heard. The last "bearing down" by Maynard is absolutely intense.
I genuinely thought I was the only one completely obsessed with exactly what you’re talking about! That exact 60 seconds, and the last two “bearing downs” but especially the last one! The way he can sing the exact same verse like four different times, and each time be different while simultaneously ascending the tone into the next! I swear it’s like years ago in Green Jelly, they discovered the formula for alchemy, which stays locked in the studio and shapes every one of their songs into gold!
I've never seen a UA-cam comments section with this much positivity. Tool is badass..... And all you fans out there are making me proud to be among the fold.

My brother died in 2009. He was the victim of a drunk driving accident, he was 26 years old when he passed and his favourite band was tool. That was 10 years ago and I can clearly remember that the last thing we talked about was if tool would ever put out a new album, while sitting at the west Edmonton mall food courts, he said that they would and was very sure it would've been sometime that year. it wasn't that year. I didn't know who they were at the time but I carried on the conversation because I hadn't seen him in 4 years and just hearing his voice was liberating. He died two months later. When I was 17 years old, I thought this band was weird af because I didn't understand music yet. Tool has always helped me release emotion. Sometimes we hold things in and when I hear them create, magic i will feel the music and it will help me release feelings I thought I couldn't. It makes my mind expand, I feel more counciance to everything, way more in tuned to myself. It's so awesome with these bands, everyone has a different way they interpret the song meaning for them. I wish I had a friend that I could sit across from and ask how they interpreted the song. Not too many people I know have really heard of stool or they're really not into them. It blows my mind. How could you not fucking love that shit. When I first heard 46 and 2 and parabola oh, that completely changed my life. I started looking at myself differently and others differently. They are fucking geniuses!
@@brandilong1972 beautifully said. It would be super interesting to be able to get someone elses well thought out and nuanced perception of the art they are hearing for sure
And the best day of 2019 has arrived. We may as well end the year now.

My 3 year old daughter: "can we play this song every day mom?"
Six hour shift at work, had it on loop the whole day. Could feel I was sharing this moment with millions around the world. Epic, momentous, emotional, Tool.
Art of the State 6 hour shift, huh? So you got to listen to it about one and a half times. 🤣
Where do you work where you can listen to tool?
Mr State you were sharing with us all and we with you. Spiral out my friend.
Only six hours I can’t even poop that fast
@@ghostballs1874 If it takes you 6 hours to poop you might need to get an aenema bro
Tool is my workout music. It is also my work music. My shower music, my car music, my chill out music and my amp music
So.... Your life music?
Same.
Tool are my spirit animal
Just noticed this comment as I was working out listening to it :)
@@breezyamar and I just noticed yours as I was about to start my workout :)
@@jellicology haha! Amazing!

This song makes me cry. I’m a 6-3 250 pound crybaby. SO good. It’s hard to describe how much this song nails me. Heavy shield down …. 😢
I'm 6 foot 00, 230 lb. Us big guys are soooo misunderstood. Yeah, we're the go to muscle for everything, but god damn, most of us big guys are actually gentle souls. People get nervous around us, but we're gentle giants.
We're also lovers, big teddy bears. 😂
I was diagnosed with cancer in March 2022, having previously been fit, healthy and active. This song immediately became relevant to my coming battle against cancer.
I was lucky enough to see Tool at the O2 Arena in London this year, 4 weeks after my second surgery, they closed with Invincible, I cried.
Wish u the best with that battle and hope u kick cancer in the butt
I was diagnosed with cancer on May 2022. Right now recovering at home after an esophagectomy. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Trust me. I also lean on Tool for my fight. Saw them in Memphis in January 2020 and fell in love.
Hugs ❤
Me too. Powerful Track. Have you tried the Carnavor Diet? It works!
God Bless
Where in London? I am going over Seas soon as, I can. I haven't been to England yet. Please tell me where to go and what to do. England has so much History and Great Britain has The Liberty Bell
I don't think any album has grown on me as much as Fear Inoculum.
Agreed. I liked Pneuma and that was it the first time. I told my wife I was disappointed. 8 months later and I can't get enough. Every single day on the drive to work. Drive home. I sit in the drive to finish the album. Amazing.
@@Retexid Falling asleep to 7empest??? Really... That song rocks so hard
Every tool album is like that for me.
Retexid same! I’ve been listening to it on the way to work and when I fall asleep.
John Cena pneuma is so good. Culling Voices is my jam atm.
The angels from heaven finally came down yesterday and took my friend home that I knew since 6 grade.. He had been dealing with a lot of health problems.. He was a warrior for what he had been battling with throughout his life.. This is my song to you.. May you rest in peace my friend.. 😢
🙏
The Soul is immortal. The body is temporary.
For anyone who's struggled or is struggling, remember that the history of man is the history of the warrior, and you are their descendent.
My deceased mom passed from cancer before this was released. She introduced me to TOOL many years ago. I hope she's enjoying this as much as I am wherever she may be.
Hi, My condolences to you. Nothing I say will make a difference for the loss you feel. Just know, I'm a mother and if possible when I'm gone my spirit will be with my sons.

not a lot of songs in 7/8 time signature that feel this natural
From their first album to current , they just keep getting better in my opinion. They never lose their fastball!!!

Too young brother. remember the good times you had together and take care of yourself. " Cry aloud. Bold and proud of where I've been. But here I am. Where I end." R.I.P. sir.
Rest in peace brother
Was riding down the road last night with my 9 year old daughter in my truck with this song blasting. She started laughing and said she got the goosebumps. I was like why, she said "cause I like it" literally got me choked up and brought a tear to my eye. This same daughter loves 80s rock and will headbang to it. #winning #raisingthemright

We are blessed to live in the same time as Tool
I would love to hear this live. It's amazing how their brains can remember all of this live! Phenomenal band! Been around since , ya know.
You have no idea how powerful this song is live. Mind blowing live.
Just seen it last night. Last song of the set and it was incredible. A spiritual experience.
It's truly an experience. Was witness to this on Thursday night. First time seeing Tool. Hope to be able ro see them again
Invincible.......brings me to tears when I listen. A grown ass man sobbing for no reason other than the power of this music. Amazing.
Just a human doin human things. Feels good to be alive, doesn't it? :)
And that's a beautiful thing❤🔥
Miss G To breathe, to feel, to know I’m alive.
Your not alone my brother.
More human than human
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite Tool songs, period.
Turing Machine same! Love the video of Chancellor beating his chest to this song mid performance.
This 1 & Pneuma are the 1’s that I can’t stop listening to 🤟🏻
Mine is Culling Voices. Period. I've listened to TOOL my entire adult life, I'm 46,and Culling Voices is their best imo.
Amen, and amen.
Noice
Although this song is more about getting old and facing mortality not on your knees but on your feet with a blade in your hand.
But this song is also about having perseverance through life's beatings. Getting up off the ground yet again. Taking up the fight and not giving up, regardless of the eventual outcome.
To all those that know me well, know what battles I have fought and continue to fight. Even though I know I'm fighting a losing battle, I will continue to do so until the end. Hopefully not for a long time though 😊
The drums with music at 11:21 get me every time!!!
Aging metal head here, a child of 70’s 80’s metal. Had heard of Tool but just started listening to them and all I can say is WOW. They have taken it to a whole new level. True artists accomplished in their craft.
Jealous you are just finding them. Aenima and Undertow are bliss.
Enjoy!
Start at Opiate and work your way forward. The journey is well worth it
hey man could you recommend some bands that were like, really extra to you?

When I hear a great song, I want someone else to hear it.
When I hear TOOL, I _need_ everyone else to hear it.
Yesssss right!
So when are the Crusades on?
Does anybody else get incredibly creative while listening to Tool? Such an amazing inspiration in life!
They are one of the bands that makes me think differently when writing my poetry. When I look back at old poems I can tell what I was listening to as I wrote. It’s harder to write to this than rap that’s for sure
I do, I play tool while I'm programming and it adds a point of creativity to it :D
This song helps me out when my energy is low. To keep on pushing
Onwards upwards forwards
Definitely!
Yes! Great insight, Bro!
Nearly 5 years and I'm still listening to this album on repeat. This song especially brings me to tears. A few warriors have fallen since.
The guitar riff to this took me around 3 days to figure out. Masterful use of Drop D diminished chords. Also, the triplet muting is amazing. Adam is so underrated. Then another week or so just to play it in the correct time signatures. Problem is some of the time signatures are almost impossible to count out, so there is a bit of feel going on. Justin and Adam are joined at the rhythmic hip.
Who else has this as their favorite song on the album?
Here.. dude I tell you since I heard this song I thought they were talking about me... what the fuck .
@@alvaroperlas8829 it was a sleeper for my, had enjoyed it then saw it live and its now my favorite on the album and honestly top five tool for me.
