I like the technique you're using on the snare, looks like you're smoothly slicing at the drum rather than trying to hit it like a hammer when you're on the hats. Gonna start trying that. Only been drumming for a month.

You can also write the rhythms down even If it's just a primitive 'high-hat with a bass drum, high hat' etc to really get the idea of when what should be played, helps a lot at the start, then you'll be able to do it in your head pretty easily, but it takes a lot of time to get to that level, tho that would mean you can play pretty much everything by ear

Every rock drummer alive has been influenced by John Bonham’s drum sound from the first Led Zeppelin album onward. It might have been better to ask drummers which snare sound they considered the best.
