- Fallout 4 vs Fallout 76 - which is the right game for you to play? In this video we go over the new Fallout 4 next gen update and the current day of Fallout 76. The Fallout 4 next gen gameplay is taken from my Xbox Series S and the Fallout 76 is PC gameplay!
Fallout 4 is more of a "traditional" Fallout experience, whereas Fallout is a completely new Bethesda experience with multiplayer at its core. The next gen update for Fallout 4 truly makes the game look incredible! At the same time, Fallout 76 has come a LONG way from its original release in 2018...

The Fallout 4 next gen update is MUCH better than I thought it would be...the graphics look awesome! I wish more games did this
It destroyed all my mods
I think we have to give it time for the mods to update to the new coding so we can have them work again. Just my guess!
@@erjikkzonthat's something you accept before installing mods.
@@Lordoftheapes79yup
@@Lordoftheapes79 i solved it...just downloaded older version...next gen update is downgrade update for me
Playing fallout 4 hits different after watching the Fallout TV series
If you have friends - Fallout 76
No friends - Fallout 4
Correction: IF you have friends who actually want to play 76, then play 76.
I have a lot of friends. None of them want to play Fallout 76.
true
100%
The community in 76 is actually the less toxic in the gaming community they will help you out alot and they also they are easy to become friends with.
Fallout 4 it is 💀
Currently playing both. New to Fallout.
Fallout 4 with mods is so good. I even have a mod that makes the AI of enemies realistic! Graphics mods make it look beautiful.
Fallout 76 is just so chill. So much to do. Community is so nice. Graphics are great.
Loving them both man
I'm new to Fallout also. About six months ive been playing FO4 and have almost 300 hours and still have the DLC and alot of the main story to go. It might be my favorite game I've ever played.
Fallout 4 in Survival Mode is immersive and challenging. I'm about 100 hours into my current playthrough and it's been epic.
This is what's missing in Fo76. It's fun, the map is a joy to explore. But It's not nearly as immersive as Fo4, especially in Survival mode. The option to play 76 offline would be a game changer. Playing all the storie quests alone in survival with real VATS ... awesome.
@@HanzsKlopekyou can literally do that bozo
@@NightRaid-bv8gg 76 doesn't have proper VATS.
@@bigbri4090 yeah, i really hate it. in fallout 4 is a mod to make vats even more falloutish like totaly pause like was in f3 and fnv f1 and 2 feel like turn based so when i got trouble i can stop and plan next move like in chess which requires a lot thinking not shooting tons of amunition everywhere. i played like 300h in 76 and am done. f4 i barely scratched it so i need to playXD but for me the best fallout feel game was fallout 3 and its view of burned greyish city. That green filter did a good job . I am waiting for F4: capital wasteland mod, because for now we can play only 2 dlcs like point lookout and the pitt
I like to mod it so that I have a much higher damage in take and output. It makes it very dangerous to roam the commonwealth wasteland
The biggest thing that people need to know is that one is online only, the other is not. So if you're traveling, or if you're somewhere without wifi, you can't play 76
Fallout 4 didn’t release on 360 and ps3 lol
Makes dude lose all credibility with his lack of knowledge
@@RaiderNation420yeah bro doesn’t know what he’s talking about at all
Was going to comment this and immediately took me out of the video.
Genuinely it’s 12 minutes of him just saying nothing
Lmao, I got an Xbox one specifically for Fallout 4 and that was in 2015. The game was basically being marketed for the next gen. This guy sounds like he just did rudimentary research and isn’t speaking from experience.
Which is better.. an apple or an orange... I play both of these games, they are both vastly different from one another. Not even comparable really.
True. They both have unique play-styles and honestly, both Fallout 4 and 76 have something that makes the unique and fun to the player. One is for single player while the other is for multiplayer.
Actually all 3d games are the same if we are going that route. Only story location and options are different.
To a degree.
i was about to comment the same thing.. one is an online game and the other is a single player game with different functions that serve their purposed game.
@@note_finger yea I don't get how people compare a single player game to a literal mmo. it literally makes no sense
Except they are! Development ….
Honestly, I strayed from Fallout 76 because it’s disaster at launch. I waited for like until 2024 and needless to say to say, I actually enjoyed it. Fallout 76 js very fun as any Fallout title, it’s just a different game with a diffrent style or gameplay.
I love both Fallout 4 and 76, and I think they’re both unique. It’s like comparing which Chicken Wings you like better. Different in style but unique and fun on their own way, with people enjoying them.
Multiplayer = 76
Singleplayer = 4
Of course that's the simple answer. But I also think it depends what you're looking for out of your Fallout experience. A traditional wasteland story is seen through Fallout 4, whereas Fallout 76 is more laid back, casual and like an "arcade" mode of Fallout
@MRags I like games that last long. Once you beat fallout 4 that's it. That's why I like online games because their updates and add ons
@@infinitycreationthat was 3 if u didn’t have DLC Fallout 4 you can still do a lot of side stuff and DLC it ain’t over till you have completed everything
Fallout 3 is the best way to start if you're new to the franchise.
@@infinitycreation I beat fallout 4 like 2 times and never did half the activities.
The charisma convo check on 76 is like it is on 3 and NV and honestly I like it like that
Fallout 4 is a RPG. Fallout 76 is a looter shooter with a Fallout skin. One is not like the other. Personally, I prefer the one where I'm not forced to deal with other humans.
*Fallout 4 is a Action Shooter.
@@coachmel2404 Yeah, that's more accurate.
Yea thats why I havent jumped into 76 yet, but after I finish this FO4 run im gonna jump in to see how invasive the online play is.
@rosecity_chris it's not So bad, while im doing the quest you don't bump into people really but if your doing daily quests or walk past a public event it feels different
@@TheJudgementofDogOut of curiosity, how old were you when you got diagnosed with autism?
I recently tried 4 first but I really struggled and just kept dying everywhere, so I switched to 76 and I'm enjoying it. It's much more forgiving for a noob like me.
4:10 - 4:22 *thumbs up* glad to see you included this in this video
Of course!! Glad you liked it - it’s very important to notice the different settings and timeframe
It comes down to player preference. Some want multiplayer. Some want a single player experience.
Ima act like 76 is like gta online then come back to fallout 4 for story I started fallout2
Would love to see Fallout 4 on the PS3/X360 videos since you know it never was made for those consoles.
Answer = Fallout 4
I'm feeling it too
disagree!
Saved me from 15 min
Played fallout 76 for 1-2 hours and deleted it… just not for me.
Played fo3-never beat, new Vegas-couldn’t put it down till I beat it in 1 day, fo4-got addicted to it and will always be my favorite.
I gave it three solid days and just couldn’t the missions where long af for no pay out I’m good rather go save another settlement lol
Wimps!
Ofc your favorite fallout is the easiest most non rpg fallout to date lol
Non rpg fallout? lol wtf
After the show I started with fo4 for my first time and yea, I've been completely addicted
What’s the song you used in the background?
This isn't even a question, if you're new to Fallout play 76 last.
It's the kind of game where you've played a series to death and are desperate for "something" new from it.
I'm not saying you can't find the fun in it, just that it's not going to scratch the itch the series will give you.
I just realize a fallout game disc is equal to the blast radius bored game found in game. Imagine finding one and just realizing the irony
That was a good breakdown, iv played all except 76 & this was an informative vid, thank u
i hate them messing with FO4 because I play on PC. I can't get into mods because content is not available and I can't turn the ones I have on off. I cant wait till they fix the problem. i get to much lag and crashes with the update and 30 mods running. I even uninstalled FO4 and re-installed didn't get rid of the mods.
Great breakdown. Im currently playing F4, my first Fallout game ever. And much like Skyrim, I can’t get enough of it !! It’s just too good
Those two games are absolute gems. Glad you liked the video!!!
As a die hard fallout fan I have to say fallout 76 is better then 4 in many ways. Ik people have their opinions on 76 and 4 but with me I come back to 76 a lot but 4 I don’t I just now came back to 4 because of next gen update but 76 I been playing consistent since 2020 the story and enemies and etc is very hardcore compared to 4. 76 u have to pay to fast travel, their isn’t any time stopping, but with 4 u have companions and a great settlement building but the building mechanics are better in 76 but the games are amazing and I’m glad their getting more attention
What next gen graphics is he talking about?. On my pc it looks the same like before the update
For new gen consoles lol
Yeah that's a pretty slanted view of those games in favor of F4. F76 is an mmorpg. Constant content, contually changing is easily the one reason among many I have to favor 76. Multi-player is also pretty damn cool. The content can be very challenging in 76 and is rewarding not only because of the challenge but also because of the loot. The loot actually matters in 76. You need good gear. In Fallout 4, I can run around and stealth kill everyone with a plastic knife, lol. I never found Fallout 4, even remotely challenging. The main story is ok, but the side quests are pointless. Honestly.. the main thing is really that once you beat 4, it's not as fun to run around it again. You end up using mods and basically fall off. 76 keeps being fresh. And the starting at lvl 20 thing is for advanced players creating alts. We don't need the intro shit.
actually the skill based optional dialogues in 76 is similar to new vegas.
The fallout franchise is one of my most loved ones, 'cause I love the postapocalypse.
I play the games since the very first title and like so many others my fav is Fallout: New Vegas.
When Fallout 4 released I was hyped but that hyp vanished pretty soon.
Compared to F:NV it felt just meh, the RPG was almost gone and made room for a action shooter with mid gun play.
The story of F4 never caught on me and I never finished the game. I revisited it, when the DLCs released but in total I spent just 50 or 60 hours with it.
A few years later Fallout 76 was announced and the concept made me say "Fuck yeah!".
I never understood why people got mad at the concept as it was made clear from the very first announcement that it will be an online multiplayer spin-off, not a main title, not an MMO, just an online multiplayer.
And I was shaking my head to all the "The world is so empty!"-comments.
It's 25 years after a world destroying nuclear war, what did they expect to see? A normal functioning place?
The world wasn't empty at all it was just missing living human NPCs.
I started playing F76 back in October 2018 during the beta and yes there have been problems,
luckily I never had to deal with so much or so huge bugs like others did and from the start I was immediately more in love with F76 than I have been with F4.
At the moment I have around 2500 hours in the game of which I'v played only around 400 with friend, the majority ot the time I play it solo and it works, at least for me; so, to all the people out there, yes, you can play it solo and have a ton of fun.
To me the storylines in F76 are way better than the ones in F4 and the game can get so much darker than F4 as well.
Appalachia feels like my videogame home and I always love coming back to it, even after a longer pause.
What is that thumbnail like please link the source
I wish fallout 76 did the perks a tad better, instead of having to stack say rifle man perk with expert rifleman, they should’ve just had one of those like previous titles and upgrade it, it really takes up a lot of your special space
Fallout 4 for the story and one time purchases for dlcs.
Fallout 76 for multiplayer experience with friends with a lot of the content being locked behind a hefty grind and a subscription service promoting laziness.
This is a good take 🤝
I seriously don't get how people say fallout 4 is hard? its such an easy game even on very hard/survival.. I need to download so many mods to actually make it challenging.. am I the only one??
Nah you’re not alone brother
Who be naming there son Sean
Fallout 76 was the first Fallout I played. I have played the others since. About the lack of NPCs in the beginning...It made sense at the time. It made sense that the NPCs arrived later. I liked the experience and when it started getting old....BAM!!! Wastelanders update. I think a lot of the hate was due to that change in the game for veteran players. All this time later I agree it's better with the NPCs. All the bugs at launch...yeah that sucked
Jumped into 76 after the show. Loved 3 and 4... I played 76 as a level 1 start, part of the fun is leveling up - so to start at 20 I felt was a bit like cheating. As for being forced to play with others - not true! I didn't do one event until I was past level 30 and even now I just enjoy roaming the lands doing the main quest line, side quests and daily quests. If an event pops up and I want to go, I go - but it's not necessary. To me it's a super fun single player game with the option to go join others if I want.
I play both fallout 4 by myself and fallout 76 with friends and as well as by myself
despite smaller in size, i like 4's map and world much more
fallout 4 did not come out on xbox 360 , research?
Next gen update on FO4 made it similar to Metro Exodus which is very rich in graphics. FO4 is now even better due to its variety of weapons.
Ive been playing both recently more 4 than 76 but thats because i just prefer the gameplay, hud and design but font let that stop you from playing any game
Starfield was my first ever Bethesda game. After 400 hours i decided to try either Skyrim or FO4 since ive owned both digitally and never played them. I went with FO4 since it was more recent and i had all the DLC. What a masterpiece Fallout 4 is. After 300 hours i still have hundreds of hours left and all the dlc and the main story to complete. The world of FO4 feels more alive and then even starfields and i like Starfield alot but it was a step backwards compared to FO4. I might try out 76 and see what that is like. Bethesda needs to fast track Fallout 5 though i do want a great game and they do take time.
Both are masterpieces in their genre
I would not agree that 76 should be someone's first experience in the fallout universe. The world itself doesn't feel representative of what fallout is about. The systems are all very different. It could be too much for a new person. I disagree
Facts, either 1/2 or fo4. Nv is later because save the bst for the last
I just miss how you can become evil in the older fallouts can't do that in 4
Imagine if Rockstar made Fallout
What I don't like about 76 is weapon/armor condition. You can't just play, you need always repair something... Also it feels less dynamic than 4
I play 76 more just because I love getting on with my friends
6:44 just quick save and reload at the start of the question
That’s cheese just like the pausing combat mid fight 🤣🤣
They are both good for different reasons but for Fallout newbies, I suggest 4 every time. That said, if you can play 76 with friends it's a banger for wuite a while.
Fallout 4 + mods = crazy fun.
If you’re playing fallout 4 for the first time just put the difficulty on easy… I think there’s a very easy option too!
I have gotten into fallout 76 but, then your stash hits limit and you feel like the game stops.
I ran out of stimpaks. When I try to go farm materials to make them, well, let's just say it's a huge PITA.
@@TheJudgementofDog Yep Stimpaks and the armor sets. The ones I have put on display in the CAMP count toward your stash limit so it doesn't even want to do that without Fallout 1st. The one thing that keeps me from going back to Fallout 4 is weapon degradation.
@@jawsvvvvv It's not even weapon degradation that bothers me. It's putting repair kits behind a pay wall that burns me up. I know that you can use regular resources to do it, but it's the principal for me.
So basically fallout 76 is like Elder Scrolls Online
By your head armour i suppose you are +5 strenght
Fallout New Vegas gave you your stat vs check, so you always knew whether or not it would succeed. fallout 3 is thebone with the % chanve.
Depends on ones taste I guess, I prefer singleplayer games before multiplayer games.
My personal favorite is New Vegas, but I like 4 and 3 too.
76 was so empty when it released, I played it last in 2022 I think? I think it's okay at best.
However, it has been updated a lot I hear so it might be a lot better now?
Never been a fan of all the "have to pay" to access certain content like one costume or a weapon skin that you can't earn in game.
And I know, it's a choice but I'm not a fan of it, but it's business.
This is a good response!!! In my opinion, fallout 76 is a fun, different experience than every other fallout game. It’s just more of an arcade version and isn’t so much about the storyline and the journey but has a lot more random quests to be able to do. It’s fun cause the map is living with these random public events but nothing to me is better than the single player fallout experience like 3, NV or 4. Fallout 3 will always be my favorite!!
@@MRags I will give 76 another try when I've payed for ps plus, should've gotten the game on pc because playing online with people shouldn't cost extra money other than having internet. But I didn't have a good computer back then anyway.
But Fallout 76 is certainly different from the others and will enjoy it more again, it will have a new map I heard too, will release in fall this year I think.
However Fallout 3 was my first fallout game I ever played and that game will always have a special place in my heart, I definetly understand why Fallout 3 is the best of them all in many peoples eyes. ^_^ I guess 3 was your first too? Or did you play the older fallouts before 3,
On paper the no NPCs makes sense. It's only 25 years after a catastrophic nuclear holocaust...not many people would be alive. However, it was botched horribly.
I’m playing 76 and met good helping and not so much
👇 OG fallout 4 fans
76 has the less toxic community then any other game i ever played. They love helping out noobs, easy to get along with and to become friends. The atmosphere online wise is the least toxic one i have ever encounter its nothing like gta online or most online games. They have very good system going onn well thought out and heart warming community on there that wants you and other players to stay and keep playing 76.
I got all the XB console Fallout games 3, 4, Vegas but am missing 76. Also have all add-ons.
I got all the games on day release but haven't even started playing them! Now on a XBSX - I'm thinking of finally starting Fallout 3, then Vegas, then 4 or maybe get 76 but am a single player gamer.
Digital Fallout 76 is on sale in the Xbox store store for the next few days!
76 is fun but honestly F4 is way better. Mainly because F4 has RPG choices(with different outcomes & reactions after the ending), plenty of amazing dialogue with NPC‘s, companions you can travel with(with interesting backstories and quests), you can actually save your game, you can keep playing even though the Wi-Fi is out, and the main story doesn’t feel repetitive. That was my main complaint with 76. The idea of the scorched was interesting, but the execution with gameplay was infuriating. Too much back-and-forth & all of it is online.
Fallout 4 wasn't 2015 game of the year lol, that went to the Witcher 3, despite Bethesda releasing a GOTY edition
To be fair that’s some tough competition lol there’s plenty of people who think the Witcher 3 is the best game ever
Both are extremely awesome and adictive😍 only downside of 76 is it's multiplayer
I love 4 more but would love some tips if anyone has some for 76 I so badly want to get into it but I left during the 1st year and it's been a long time
Also loving the Next Gen patch for Fallout 4 on my series X
Look up a UA-camr named Angry Turtle. He has guide and character build videos on everything Fallout 76. The guy is a genius lol.
FO4 is a SP RPG & FO76 is MP PTP FPS. So it's really about whether you want SP or MP. For me the MVP is FO4 as I like SP RPG'S not PTP FPS'. FOMO play both.
Fallout 4 wasn’t on Xbox 360 or PS3
Fallout 76 is more tedious with your character getting hungry, thirsty, sick. Your weapons and armor breaking. Not to mention everything you carry weights. For some moronic reason traveling cost caps. You can't wear some armor or use some guns until you reach certain level.
The multiplayer aspect is something that Fallout really needed, but 76 is still an incredibly scuffed game in 2024. Definitely below the singleplayer games just because of that.
No it’s not
For me personally, after playing 3, NV and 4, I'd say I love FO76 the best because of the MP aspect.
I respect this!! Def gives you that different experience we never got with 3, NV or 4. It’s fun and different but the depth of the storyline in 3, NV and 4 is always so amazing to me
I literally don't know anyone who plays 76. But I have got at least a dozen friends who play Vegas three and four or the OG. I guess it depends on your age. I'm not a tween so I guess 76 isn't up my alley.
@@Shoelessjoe78I’m only 24 and 76 isn’t that good to me
I love fallout 4 so much one of my favourite games so I downloaded 76 because it went on sale, I’m finding it hard to really get into 76 because imo the story is almost non existent and all over the place
👍🏻 on the Portuguese head band.
Thank you!! 🇵🇹🇵🇹
It cant really be compared, 76 isnt fallout with multiplayer like many ppl said its just another mmo game with fallout assets. Meanwhile fo4 its a single player game and an action shooter
76 just has so many unnecessary things added to it like disease, water, food, weapon condition, armor condition, and ect. Just makes it annoying to play worrying about all these conditions instead of just killing things with friends
Well NOW its 76 cant play 4 after the update on Xbox the lag is everywhere now.
Mine is running so smoothly and I have a series S. Do you have mods installed?
Looting and scavenging is the bread and butter of fallout thats the point lol
Still think New Vegas is miles better than both 4 and 76, even more with hardcore mode on and playing on very difficult. That said, I still enjoy a lot 4 in Survival Mode and the challenge and immersion the game mode brings, and 76 when I just want to turn my brain off and shoot stuff with fellow vault dwellers.
I tried fallout 4 when it came out and couldn't get into it , tried it recently and its pretty decent
Did you try it after the new next gen update? It’s even better
@@MRags I downloaded it the day before the update and it was so buggy it was ridiculous but after the update it was less buggy but not perfect , can't complain got it for $5

I’d say if you never played fallout before start with 4 then when you feel like you want to play with other people in that type of gameplay then play 76, and it’s really on the mp side the main story so far is a snooze fest but just wandering throughout and looting and making my own base is actually calming compared to say ….mw3 that I’m normally use too 😂😂😂
I love the multiplayer of Fallout 76 but Fallout 4 is by far the superior game.

Fallout 4 runs Incredibly smoothly... are you serious?
Fallout 4 is better in my opinion but the graphics and the fps can be smoother.
Fallout 4 all day

Just bought fallout 76 for 36 cents lmao
As a new player, 76 feels way too outdated vs 4. Gameplay is much more immersive on 4 as well.

@@Domobury 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Why does the graphics on 76 look so bad on Xbox s
From what I've heard 76 is the worst fallout game ever. Brotherhood of steel is probably worse, but I don't consider that a true fallout game. My opinion for new people is to start with 1 or 2. They're totally different than the newer games, but they're at a level of awesomeness no other games ever achieve.
You should play neither an play fallout new vegas
Fallout 4, when we asked for multiplayer we didn’t want some bullshit battle royal open world multiplayer with randoms that just turns into GTA 5 online.
Take away aspect that we NEED to play with others and make it multiplayer invite lobbies then I will say 76.
