Hondata shipped and unlocked to California after tax is 1043.
Ktuner is less but I don't have an exact price.
MOTEC ECU system is 7922 after Tax and shipping in California. As of this date.
So just checking, you definitely CAN get the race version shipped to California? And $1040 includes the unit, plus the $250 instant jailbreak?

Dude! I used to watch you on Tactical Toolbox a few years ago when you only had like 20k subscribers! I never knew you had this channel! Always loved your 8th gen Si you used to take out to the range at the end of the videos! So cool to see that you’ve come this far and branched out since then! Hope you’re doing well man!
I agree when it comes to Hondata/Ktuner it comes down to personal preference and your needs, as you stated earlier! :). I ran Ktuner V2 for over a year and recently switched to Hondata and have been doing quite a bit of hands on research within the system and the various features. Hondata is more up to date on current features and seem to be WAY more active with the community as well as being more willing and driven to experiment with their ideas to create even more reliable features. Innovation is a beautiful/advancing thing :). What ultimately made the switch for me was traction control and that I started tracking my car. Also In my experience most tuners will be more comfortable when you walk in their shop with Hondata, In regard to custom tuning. Both are excellent options at the end of the day, but it's unfortunate it turns into a battle between the two. But at the end of the day when there is competition it creates better products for the consumer. Also Ktuner can hold up to 5 maps :D! Having the screen is cool and all but there's other ways to get the same information without obstructing your view. My favorite tune with them is the PRL Multistage tune, the power is managed really well and is consistent throughout the entire power band. I've never tried to custom tune on Ktuner. I tried the PRL Multi Stage tune from KTuner, but because I run the aFe Power Takeda CAI which uses a oversized MAF housing (PRLs is stock) and I noticed my power band/boost was a bit less (25 PSI vs 26 PSI). After switching to Stage 1 with DP I now have a consistent and even power band with 26 PSI. Its great! 😎
I remember way back in the day I had to send my ep3 ecu to hondata and it was the scariest thing ever. Thanks for all these videos I’m a new Type R owner from Arizona so all your vids are def helping me with my upcoming build.

Love this video. Im about to order Hondata for my own Type R. But would have been nice if you had done an install or setup vid of hondata. That and you never did show us how you got Hondata onto the infotainment. Interesting review. Waaaaaay back in the early days, I used a Hondata ECU which had to be modified by them. So we frequently had to buy a host ECU to send to them for modification. Even back then it was the best route for major modifications. Glad to see it has evolved into something very simple and doesn't require removal or replacement anymore. Years ago I ran a Vortech supercharged Civic Si with 18-20psi boost on a built B16. Stupid fast, but dont miss having to work on it all the time. Now I have an ILX with a stock K24. I wonder if the Hondata would be able to unlock any hidden performance for that still?

I had to get Ktuner because I have a 2004 TSX and I couldn't find an 06-08 ecu to use with Hondata. Great video though!

theres a tsp 1 50hp and 81 lbs increase on two step performance

I chose k tuner v1.2 as it allows a pop and bang map, and I am a sucker for that. Yeah yeah what about the cat, it’s a tiny amount. Maps switchable on the head unit done by a great tuner

I would go with the Hondata . I just want the functionality. Appearance is one of those things that is just a bonus if it works great.
It's nice to see that something like the Cobb Accessport is out for the Honda guys... Although, the KTuner isn't aesthetically nice. Cobb has been doing this forever, especially in the Subaru community.

Iam in the Northeast so we get the sniffer test...
The reason I been thankful is because I seen a few videos of guys replacing there PRL CADET pipe more then once.... and other brands. (Basically blew then up )..

Is the instant jailbreak something newer for hondata? I thought you had to send the ecu off for them too. It has been a year or longer since I've looked any info up on it.

Can you make one of the tunes in the Hondata a detune? Like bypass the turbo or whatever and then have the stage 2 as the other tune. I basically want the option to make the car slower and better on gas mileage but be able to switch to the monster 280hp/370tq tune on the fly.

Why do car companies limit the engines power so much. These engines are naturally safe to push more power.

@@chapel976 I have a 22' civic ex cvt and I don't what to go crazy with power or I'll blow up my transmission. That's why I'm leaning more towards ktuner v2 because I'll be using OTS tunes with some bolt ons. Maybe custom tune later on if I get a drop-in turbo.

I have a 2013 SI with just a CAI and Cat-back otherwise stock, is it worth getting the HD for just those mods. I really don't plan on do anything other mods.
@TORQ Toolbox - When Hondata clones your OME ECU, and if u ever have to take your Honda to the dealership, is it at all detectable ? Will their technicians be able to detect if u had a remaping done and switched back to the OEM version or would we be safe in trusting Hondada's Clone of the OEM ?

This is all new to me. I bought a 2.0 accord with the 6speed. The first thing i want to do is get rid of the throttle hang. Im told to get a ktuner to get rid of it but I suppose hondata can do the same thing? Id like to see how specifically to do this.

I almost purchased the Ktuner but something told me get flashpro and did got flashpro since I know my way on kpro and always been a Honda modifications ECU..remember back in the day on 91 civic si with chip ECU them engine used to Rev up to 7,200rpm

Hi, thanks for sharing this information, I'm really like the hondata features on headunit, just wondering if it would be able monitor engine oil temperature in some way rather than put a sandwich sensor, gauge and wiring thing?

I actually have Hondata for my 8th gen Si and absolutely love it, just wish there was something like a touch screen where I could monitor different things while I drive
Also, I don't have the center display that some of the 8th gens got, do you know if the Hondata app would work on it?
I have seen different bluetooth headunits that could bring up the Hondata info.
I have 8th Gen w hondata and an android head unit and latest hondata app won't allow download to a head unit just your mobile phone. 😢

Nah I rlly doubt it’d bend the rods, they’re built to handle up to a certain power limit, so some research on what your car can handle
